Smith of Detroit est maintenant 12-2.

Hunter of Atlanta est 1-2-1.

David Gonzales combat Victor Vazquez
Conférence de presse Mercredi au SugarHouse Event Center à 6 PM
Pesée Jeudi à 5 PM
Philadelphie, Penn.
I actually thought in my last fight against Luis Saavedra that I was close to getting him out of there but he did a good job in hanging in there and going the distance. It was a good experience to go eight-rounds. I spar 10-12 tours, so I knew I could go eight rounds.
Ce sera la 7e apparition de Carto au SugarHouse Casino, and the venue has taken a liking to Carto to the point where a 40-foot billboard was erected over I-95, and millions of motorists can see Carto each day.
I want to thank Wendy Hamilton of the SugarHouse. It was good to see the billboard and see myself presented like that. It’s very exciting to be able to see that. That is something I never thought I would see.
I just want all of my fans to come out vendredi nuit. It is going to be a good fight, et j'ai hâte de voir tout le monde là-bas.”

Russian Cruiserweight Zubov Continues Road to Redemption at Detroit Brawl on Sunday, Janvier 22 Against Budapest, Hungary’s Csomor

Russian cruiserweight Alexey Zubov knows what’s at stake when he enters the ring ce dimanche à Detroit.
With a second chance in a nationally televised fight possibly looming on the nearby horizon, Zubov (13-1, 8 KOs) from Magnitogorsk, Russie, will face Budapest, Hungary’s Andras Csomor (18-14-1, 14 KOs) dans un combat de huit rondes.
Zubov vs. Csomor will be one of the main supporting bouts in promoter Dmitriy Salita’s special Sunday edition of his “La bagarre de Détroit” series on Janvier 22, 2017, at Masonic Temple. In the night’s eight-round main event, Detroit’s perennial welterweight gate keeper and fan favorite LanardoPain ServerTyner (30-10-2, 19 KOs) will face Nagykanizsa, Hungary’s Istvan Dernanecz (10-4, 7 KOs). in the eight-round co-main event Detroit bantamweight James Gordon Smith (11-0, 6 KOs) will face Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary’s Szilveszter Ajtai (10-3-1, 5 KOs).
Once again sponsored by the Greektown Casino Hotel, billets pour “La bagarre de Détroit” are priced at VIP $123, Box Seats are $80 et $60, Seating is $80, $60, $40, et $20. They are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com.
For this training camp, Zubov worked with his trainer, the late Emanuel Steward’s nephew Javan “Sucre” Colline, as he helped prepare former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell for his recent fight.
Everything was perfect in my training this time,” said Zubov. “I love working with Javan, he has helped me grow so much as a fighter. And Anthony Dirrell taught me a great deal as well. I will be showing what I’ve learned ce dimanche.”
Although he’s not taking him lightly, the formerly heavily decorated amateur Zubov says his studies of opponent Csomor haven’t revealed much he hasn’t seen before.
I’ve watched a little bit of him on tape and he does nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve fought guys like him before who have the same style. And I always handle them very well.
Zubov, looking to face the likes of WBO champ Oleksandr Usyk, countryman Denis Lebedev, or any of the division’s other big names, says his return to national television will be nothing like the first time. Zubov suffered his only career loss, une unanimous decision to Moldova’s Constantin Bejenaru, last April at the Turning Stone in Verona, New York and live on ShoBox.
I was nervous. I never fought on a big show before that and I choked up,” explained Zubov of the loss. Next time will be totally different. I have been around big-time boxing on big shows enough times now. I will be ready.
Also seeing action that night will be former cruiserweight world title challenger “Ouragan” Wright junior (15-2-1, 12 KOs) from Evanston, Illinois, making his heavyweight debut against Detroit’s Damon McCreary (15-6, 11 KOs) en six tours.
In a bantamweight six-rounder, undefeated bantamweight Ja’RicoGreat Lakes King” O'Quinn (4-0, 3 KOs) will take on Chicago’s Angel Carvajal (2-5).
In a super lightweight four, Detroit’s rejuvenated “Foudre” Larry Ventus (7-11-1, 3 KOs) will face Florida’s iron-jawed Jesus Lule (9-20-1, 1 KO).
Popular and undefeated super welterweight Ardreal Holmes (4-0, 2 KOs) of Flint, Michigan, is scheduled to fight Macon, Georgia’s Bryan Goldsby (3-1).
Undefeated Alabama super featherweight Dwayne Zeigler (5-0-1, 5 KOs) will face Aaron Hollis (3-3, 2 KOs) of Cincinnati in a four-round super featherweight fight.
Kronk welterweight Jacob Bonas (2-0-1, 1 KO), Toledo super middleweight DeAndre Ware (8-0, 6 KOs) and undefeated Detroit heavyweight Marcus Carter (1-0, 1 KO) will face opponents that are yet to be announced.
La nuit de combat, ouverture des portes à 4:00 h and the fights begin at 5:00 h. The Masonic Temple is located at 500 Temple Street in Detroit.

Bantamweight James Gordon Smith Ready to Deliver Another Thriller in Co-Main Event of Detroit Brawl on Sunday, Janvier 22 à Detroit

Detroit bantamweight action hero James Gordon Smith (11-0, 6 KOs) knows what boxing fans in Detroit have come to expect from himand he doesn’t mind one bit.
People want to see you exciting in there; we are in the hurt business,” a déclaré Smith. “They don’t want to pay to see a guy running the whole fight. It’s not exciting that way. I fight the way fans love. You make more money that way.
The thrill-a-minute Smith will face Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary’s Szilveszter Ajtai (10-3-1, 5 KOs) in the co-main event of promoter Dmitriy Salita’s special Sunday edition of his “La bagarre de Détroit” series on Janvier 22, 2017, at Masonic Temple in Detroit.
Once again sponsored by the Greektown Casino Hotel, billets pour “La bagarre de Détroit” are priced at VIP $123, Box Seats are $80 et $60, Seating is $80, $60, $40, et $20. They are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com
.
“Je tiens à combattre. All that boxing and trying to look pretty. It’s not for me. I’d rather get in there and go to war. It’s more exciting.
26-year-old Smith was 110-9 as an amateur and won four national championships and two silvers and a bronze in the National Golden Gloves.
Once I turned 21, I started realizing my fighting style was more of a pro style. I was handling guys and then they were saying I was losing on points. That’s when I realized amateur boxing wasn’t for me anymore. I talked to my coaches, Keith Jackson and Theotrice Chambers, and they told me it was time.
Forgeron, who is hopeful of making his national television debut in the near future, says he’s been fine tuning his style, while leaving all the thrills in place.
We’ve been working on defense and not getting hit as much and on putting punches together. I’ll be trying to average 100 to120 punches a round. I would love to fight on ShoBox this year. Dmitriy Salita is looking for a date for me in mid-March. I just want to fight on TV. With my style and the way I fight, all it would take is for fans to see me fight one time and they’ll see what I can do. All I need is the right opponent. It’ll be beautiful. It will be like Micky Ward against Gatti.
Smith also says he’s not worried about competing in his first eight-round fight.
It’s a good fight for my first eight-rounder. Il est un bon combattant. I’ve seen him a couple times. He looked decent on YouTube. He’s got good hand speed. When he’s in shape, he lets his hands go and has good boxing skills, but I’m always in great shape, so I don’t really worry about the rounds. I get in as good of shape as you can be in and then I throw punches the whole fight, no matter how many rounds. Plus, it’s very exciting to fight in front of my friends and family. It gives me the extra motivation to work even harder. You never want to look bad at home.
In the night’s eight-round main event, Detroit’s perennial welterweight gate keeper and fan favorite LanardoPain ServerTyner (30-10-2, 19 KOs) will face Nagykanizsa, Hungary’s Istvan Dernanecz (10-4, 7 KOs).

Bigger, Stronger Heavyweight Version of Junior Wright to be Unleashed against McCreary at Detroit Brawl on January 22, at Masonic Temple in Detroit

Former cruiserweight world title challenger “Ouragan” Junior Wright has been hitting the weights hard and will enter the ring for the first time as a heavyweight in his next ring appearance.
Wright (15-2-1, 12 KOs) from Evanston, Illinois, expects to come in at a muscular 225 lbs. when he takes on Detroit’s Damon McCreary (15-6, 11 KOs) in an eight-round featured bout on promoter Dmitriy Salita’s special Dimanche edition of his “La bagarre de Détroit” series on Janvier 22, 2017, at Masonic Temple in Detroit.
Once again sponsored by the Greektown Casino Hotel, billets pour “La bagarre de Détroit” are priced at VIP $123, Box Seats are $80 et $60, Seating is $40, et $20. They are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com.
“Formation va bien,” said Wright. “I’m treating this like another world title fight because at this level anyone could beat you on any day.
Despite a short, 50-lutte, amateur career, Wright was a Chicago Golden Gloves winner as an amateur. He was able to drop Beibut Shumenov in May of this year, challenging for the WBA world championship.
The biggest thing I learned in that fight is to relax in the ring. When you’re relaxed, you are more aware in there and can pace yourself a lot better.
Wright’s trainer, Rick Wilson, says the decision to gain 25 lbs. gives the fighter, who he says can still get down to cruiserweight’s 200-lb limit, more career options moving forward.
Junior is like a Holyfield-type of fighter who is a cruiserweight in his early 20s and then grows into a full-fledged heavyweight near his 30s. People like small, agile heavyweights better than the lumbering monsters hugging each other all fight. They make for more exciting fights.
Wilson says because of Wright’s relative lack of experience, the world hasn’t seen the best of him yet.
How many fighters have had two world title fights by their 18th pro fight (the fight against Chakhkiev was for the IBO World Cruiserweight Championship) after having just 50 combats amateurs?” he asked. “Plus Junior was knocking everybody out, so he had very few rounds in the bank and went in on short notice. The best of Junior Wright is still to be seen. He’s a very special talent.
In separate eight-rounders will be a pair of recognizable contenders, Detroit fan favorite LanardoPain ServerTyner (30-10-2, 19 KOs) and welterweight KO artist BakhtiyarBakha Bullet” Yeyubov (11-0, 10 KOs) de Houston, Texas, via Aktjubinsk, Kazakhstan will face opponents in separate bouts.
In other scheduled eight-rounders will be transplanted cruiserweight Alexey Zubov (13-1, 8 KOs), from Magnitogorsk, Russie, now living in Detroit and Detroit’s all-action bantamweight James Gordon Smith (11-0, 6 KOs).
In six-round bouts will be resurgent Detroit welterweight “Foudre” Larry Ventus (7-11-1, 3 KOs); and undefeated Toledo super middleweight prospect DeAndre Ware (8-0, 6 KOs).
In exciting scheduled four-rounders will be talented, undefeated bantamweight JaricoGreat Lakes King” O'Quinn (4-0, 3 KOs); 2016 Olympic alternate and undefeated middleweight Ardreal Holmes (4-0, 2 KOs) of Flint; and undefeated Detroit heavyweight and former National Golden Gloves champion Marcus Carter (1-0, 1 KO).
All opponents are, jusque là, TBA, but matchmaker Dennis Turner is hard at work to make another spectacular night that these shows are known for.
La nuit de combat, ouverture des portes à 4:00 h and the fights begin at 5:00 h. The Masonic Temple is located at 500 Temple Street in Detroit.

Though New York Rules May Have Changed Giorgi Gelashvili’s Hunt for a World Championship Continues

Former Amateur Standout Faces Detroit’s Larry Ventus Ce samedi at ‘Detroit Brawl

You can’t blame undefeated super lightweight prospect Giorgi Gelashvili for feeling like the rug was pulled out from under him a little.

In search of notoriety and success in the American boxing universe, the 22-year-old from Kutaisi, Géorgie, moved his home base to Brooklyn, New York, last year only to have heavy-handed new laws in the state derail his plans temporarily.
The bill, that went into effect in August, dramatically increased mandatory insurance premiums promoters must pay to put on a show in the state — à partir de $10,000 à $50,000 for general coverage per fighter and $1 million minimum, per-fighter, in the event of brain injury. The result is that smaller shows in New York State are basically impossible to justify financially.
It is disappointing that I can’t fight in New York,” said Gelashvili. “My first three fights were on Salita’s Brooklyn Brawl series. New York has lots of people from my country and I was building a fan base in the community.
But like any true champion must, Gelashvili has since picked himself up and moved his fighting base to Detroit, Michigan, where a new group of fans have welcomed him warmly.
Gelashvili (5-0, 3 KOs) will face Detroiter Larry Ventus (6-11-1, 3 KOs) in a six-round showdown on Salita Promotions latest “La bagarre de Détroit” event at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit, sur Samedi, Novembre 12.
Les billets pour “La bagarre de Détroit” will be priced at VIP $123, Box Seats $100, Ringside $93, $63, $38, et $28 and available at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com.
I had my last two fights in Detroit and it’s becoming my new boxing home,” il a continué. “I know that the city is rebuilding because very time I visit, it’s nicer. New buildings are going up. Detroit has a great positive energy and it’s home to many great fighters and the world-famous Kronk Gym. I get lots of respect from the fans here. They know boxing and they most definitely love a good fight. They know I come to fight and put my heart and soul on the line. Like Detroit, I am climbing up the ranks for worldwide respect and positive recognition.
Extremely strong and powerful for a fighter his size, Gelashvili had over 120 amateur fights winning 110 while becoming a five-time Georgian National champion. Still he maintains he’s training hard to face Ventus, who is known to pull a surprise or two out of his veteran bag of tricks.
I know Larry Ventus is a good fighter. He has a bad record, but he has fought many top fighters and in his last fight I heard fought a very close fight with Dorin Spivey. I know he has been training for a long time for this and he is from Detroit, so he’s got the hometown advantage. I trained hard and I am ready.
Gleashvili says many of his New York-based fans are making the trek to watch him ce samedi in Motown and that he is still very happy so far with search for fame and fortune overseas.
I have been with Salita Promotions for a little over a year they keep me very busy and help me with transition to the US and professional boxing. I believe that they will take me to the top of my division. I am working hard and taking on all comers. Novembre 12 à Detroit… Je ne peux pas attendre!”
Dans l'événement principal de la nuit, Detroit’s undefeated James Gordon Smith (10-0, 6 KOs) and Tashkent, Uzbekistan formidable Olim Nazarov (14-2, 8 KOs), will go to war for six rounds of bantamweight action.
En cas de co-principal, MuheebFlashy,” Fazeldin (8-0-1, 3 KOs) from Sheffield, United Kingdom via Yemen, will face Modesto, California’s Michael Gaxiola (4-9) in a six-round lightweight battle.
And in another significant six-round welterweight showdown, Salita’s newest undefeated welterweight contender Wesley Tucker (12-0, 7 KOs) will showcase his considerable talents against Rocky Mount, Caroline du Nord, Richard Hall (11-24-3, 7 KOs).
Sur l'undercard, undefeated super bantamweight Zach Shamoun (4-0-1, 3 KOs) will look for his fifth professional victory against Dallas, Texas’ Charles Clark (1-1, 1 KO) dans un combat de quatre rondes; undefeated bantamweight Ja’RicoGreat Lakes King” O'Quinn (3-0, 2 KOs) will face Robert Allen Jr. (0-1) de Wilson, North Carolina in a four-rounder; and in an all-Michigan welterweight four-rounder, Detroit’s Raphael Sinegal (1-1, 1 KO) will face Flint, Michigan’s Darryol Humphery.
