Wilder returns to the ring after he was set to travel to Russia and defend his title against Alexander Povetkin on May 21 before the challenger failed a drug test that caused a cancellation of the fight. Maintenant, Wilder will showcase his exceptional skills in primetime on network television as he takes on Arreola. It will be Wilder’s fourth defense and third in his home state of Alabama.
“I’m always excited about coming home and being in front of my people where I’m the most comfortable,” Saïd Wilder. “I’ve been traveling a lot, going over to Sheffield, England to train before I was supposed to fight Alexander Povetkin in Moscow. But because of his decision to use a banned substance, the fight didn’t happen. I’m disappointed about that, but it’s not going to stop me from being an active heavyweight world champion. It has also given me the opportunity to again defend my title before my hometown fans. It’s always good to come home.
“This is the longest stretch that I’ve been out of the ring and I’m anxious to get back in and continue my quest to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” suite Wilder. “This is another fight in that process. I respect Chris Arreola for getting into the ring with me, but we all know who the real champion is and I’m going to prove it. I’ve been training long and hard for a fight and now I’m going to take it out on Arreola on July 16.”

DEONTAY WILDER STATEMENT ON HIS TITLE DEFENSE FIGHT AGAINST ALEXANDER POVETKIN

MAI 15, 2016 – In the wake of the news on Friday that Alexander Povetkin tested positive for the banned substance meldonium, WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder and his representatives have been made aware of the WBC’s decision on Sunday that the fight will not occur in Moscow on May 21.
“I’m very disappointed that due to Povetkin’s failed drug test the fight is not going to happen on May 21 à Moscou,” said Deontay Wilder. “I had worked very hard to prepare myself for this important title defense, spending the last two weeks training in England to get accustomed to fighting in Europe. I wanted to give the fans a great show, but we understand the WBC’s position that the fight occur on an even playing field.”
Povetkin, the WBC No. 1 heavyweight championship contender, tested positive for the substance in a urine test conducted by the Las Vegas-based Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VA DONNER) sur Avril 27.
“Based upon Povetkin’s positive test for meldonium, and with the health and safety of Deontay Wilder the paramount consideration, this fight could not take place next Saturday,” said DiBella. “As a result of Povetkin’s use of a banned substance and breach of contract, Deontay Wilder was deprived of an opportunity to defend his title as he was prepared to – on an even playing field. He and his team have suffered substantial damages as a result. Any talk of rescheduling by Mr. Ryabinskiy at this point is unfounded and premature. Team Wilder will await further communications from the WBC and will weigh all our options given what has transpired.”
The 30-year-old Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) and his team were supposed to fly to Moscow on Sunday for a week of preparation and promotion leading up to the fight. Maintenant, Wilder will return home to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and await further information from the WBC.
“This is a huge disappointment and a setback to my goals in boxing. I want to be an active heavyweight champion and it is still my goal to collect all the belts and become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” Wilder dit.

The things that have been accumulating throughout my career, it’s been amazing. How I’ve been able to make history, beat other records, and continue to make history. C'est incroyable. “Not at all and that’s the scary part about it. I haven’t even reached my peak yet and I’m still learning on the way up. I want to always learn. Each and every fight brings experience to me. It brings something that I’ve taken away from that fight and that I’ve added to the next fight. Looking forward to being very crisp and very good in this fight and showing people a little bit more of what Deontay Wilder is capable of. Especially those who haven’t seen anything thus far yet, stay tuned to this fight. This is one you don’t want to miss.”

I really feel when I say that I will be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, I don’t just say it to say it, but I also feel it inside me, deep inside me that I will be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and add my name to the few undisputed champions that have come before me. My name will be placed in history on that. Why wouldn’t it? All the things I’ve done up to now, that will be the icing on my cake to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. I won’t stop, no matter how many hours I have to put in. No matter how many fights that I have to take. No matter how many countries I have to visit to defend my title. I will be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.”

“I don’t have any concerns. I don’t let my brain sit back and think about if I don’t knock him out or are they going to rob me, or anything like that. I just don’t want my mind to be on that when I’m in a fight. I want to have a clear mind. I want to go in there and do what Deontay is capable of doing. Comme je le disais, all things are in God’s hands and if it’s in his will for me to win, it’s going to happen. If not then, I don’t stop there. My legacy is not going to stop there. But I’m very confident in what I’m about to do and what I’m going to do, and we all know that if we knock him out then we don’t have to worry about that. Autres Berto: I’ve got the Panthers by a dime. Homme, that Broncos’ defense is ferocious! I’ve never seen any team get after a guy like they got after Tom Brady. So how is my boy Cam Newton gonna handle them? Have you seen Cam run? He’s gonna run right over them.
Against the Patriots, that defense was allowed to be ferocious, but Cam won’t allow that. As for [Broncos running back] Ronnie Hillman, he’s my dude; he’s just gotta work on them hands a little bit.
Dominic Breazeale: I’ve got the Panthers winning, 35-21. Cam Newton is just having way too much fun, and at this point, I would have to say the guy is unstoppable.
Omar Douglas: I’m going with Panthers. Cam Newton has played great all season and almost went undefeated. He is not your average quarterback. He can throw the long ball or run it in for a touchdown. And on top of it all, he’s having fun. It’s hard to beat a guy like that!
Omar Figueroa Jr.: I don’t want to give a prediction. I love the Broncos like I love the San Antonio Spurs. But the Panthers are the Golden State Warriors of football right now. I see the Broncos having a really hard time keeping up.
Miguel Flores: Carolina has been smashing everyone, and Denver has been somewhat inconsistent. But after the Broncos’ most recent games and their showing on defense, I will have to stick with the famous cliché: “Offense wins games, defense wins championships.”
The Panthers have shown that they can be great offensively, but their defense hasn’t always been on point. So I’m going with the Broncos in a tight one.
Danny Garcia: I’m going with the Panthers. They’re rolling right now. They’ve got youth and energy, and they’ve got a lot of momentum going into the game. If they just stay focused and don’t party and get caught up [in the hype], they’ll win it.
Terrell Gausha: Panthers, because my bro that I went to high school with plays for Carolina: wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Plus, I think they are just that good.
Tony Harrison: Carolina Panthers all the way. As a former high school quarterback, I love what Cam is doing for the game. He’s amazing. Aussi, many people don’t know but my younger cousin, Devin Funchess (pictured above with Harrison while at the University of Michigan), plays wide receiver for the Panthers. So I’m always going with family in any situation.
Julius Jackson: I’ve got the Broncos. They have a better system as far as demonstrating an ability to play as a cohesive unit. That’s what will give them the edge.
Jamal James: I’m gonna have to go with the Panthers, because Cam Newton has been handling business. Plus, that team has kinda been an underdog. But every time people count them out, they come out and refuse to lose, which is something I respect and relate to.
Amir Khan: I would have to say that the Broncos have the veteran leadership in Peyton Manning and they’ve been there before, so they have the better overall experience. Mais au final, the youth and explosiveness of Cam Newton will win the day in what will be a hard-fought Panthers’ victoire.

Shawn Porter: I think this is gonna be a great Super Bowl! It’s a very evenly matched game. Both teams are solid on both sides of the ball and have great quarterbacks. Peyton Manning is trying to solidify his status as an all-time great QB, and Cam Newton is trying to establish himself as a future great. I’m having a really hard time picking a winner, but personally I would love to see Cam Newton and the Panthers win.
Michael Seals: I’ve got to go with the Panthers. I’m gonna take Billy the Kid-Cam Newton-over the Old Deputy Sheriff, Peyton Manning.
Errol Spence Jr.: The Panthers will win because the Broncos’ defense will not be able to contain or stop Cam Newton. And the Panthers’ pass defense is too good for a shell-of-himself Peyton Manning. I went to school with [Broncos defensive end] Von Miller, but I want Cam to win.
Antonio Tarver: It’s a destiny type of year for Cam Newton and the Panthers. I don’t think anyone is gonna stop them. While my heart is with Denver and the wise old veteran Peyton Manning-us old guys gotta stick together-I have to put my money on Cam and the Panthers.
All I pray for is to go out like Peyton Manning: attempting to win it all before I retire. But I have to say the Panthers will win.
Austin Trout: I’ve got the Panthers winning. They’re just playing with great team chemistry and great leadership in Cam Newton. But I’m still J-E-T-S till I D-I-E.
Sammy Vasquez Jr.: It’s simple: Panthers all day. They’ve been on fire. Cam Newton deserves it now after putting in the years with the team and all the hard work. They work together as a team, and that’s a great part of being successful.
Deontay Wilder: I like the Panthers because Cam Newton is just on a different level, a force to be reckoned with.
Thomas Williams Jr.: I’m taking the Broncos simply because of the experience factor. Cam Newton’s year has been phenomenal; he is an MVP for sure. But I think Peyton Manning’s postseason and all-around experience will outweigh Cam’s magic.
This will be just another walk in the park for Manning, who has been in the tougher, more grueling games over the course of his career.

NEW YORK (Jan. 17, 2016) – Champion du monde américain des poids lourds Deontay Wilder a défendu son titre WBC pour la troisième fois avec un KO dévastateur au neuvième tour du challenger polonais Arthur Pin Samedi nuit, en direct sur SHOWTIME devant 12,668 fans au Barclays Center de Brooklyn, N. Avec le champion du monde des poids lourds WBA et WBO Tyson Fury et le challenger obligatoire de Wilder Alexander Povetkin regardant depuis le ring, Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) impressionné encore une fois en assommant son 35e adversaire dans 36 combats.
Ce fut un combat rapproché jusqu'à ce que Szpilka se heurte à un droit brutal au menton tout en lançant un large gauche à 2:24du neuvième tour. Szpilka est tombé sur le dos et est resté inconscient sur la toile pendant quelques instants avant de répondre aux questions et de déclarer qu'il allait bien.. Goupille (20-2, 15 KOs) parlait et bougeait toutes ses extrémités, cependant, il a été emmené à l'hôpital luthérien sur une civière par mesure de précaution.

“Il était définitivement un gars rusé,” suite Wilder. “Je n'ai pas affronté un gaucher en trois ans. Il était un concurrent dur, mais tu te bats pour un titre mondial. Ce n'est pas censé être facile. Je suis surpris que cela ait pris autant de temps, mais nous avions 12 tours et ils ne peuvent pas tous ne peuvent pas être jolis.”
Fureur, le franc-champion du monde unifié britannique, est monté sur le ring après le combat et a affirmé qu'il voulait combattre Wilder dans un blockbuster d'unification.

“Nous savons tous que Fury n'est qu'un faux,” Wilder dit. “C'est juste un acte. je n'ai peur de personne. Nous viendrons dans votre jardin. C'est juste un acte – tu n'es pas un vrai combattant. je ne joue pas. Ce n'est pas de la lutte. Quand tu montes sur ce ring avec moi, je te promets que je te baptiserai.
“J'aimerais le combattre ensuite, malheureusement, j'ai d'autres mandats dus. Prenez rendez-vous avec Tyson, Je vous promets.”
Dans l'ouverture du SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, Charles Martin a remporté le championnat du monde IBF des poids lourds lorsque Viatcheslav Glazkov a subi une blessure au genou droit au troisième tour et n'a pas pu continuer. Le combat a été marqué par un TKO au troisième tour (1:50) après que Glazkov a dit à l'arbitre Earl Brown qu'il n'était pas en mesure de continuer.
Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs), qui était l'agresseur tout au long du combat, devient le sixième champion poids lourd gaucher de l'histoire de la boxe et la deuxième titlist américaine actuelle des poids lourds.
Glazkov (21-1-1, 13 KOs) a glissé au début de la troisième et semblait mal à l'aise lorsqu'il est revenu sur ses pieds. Un Glazkov abattu a plaidé sa cause pour une revanche tout en étant inspecté par des médecins dans son vestiaire.
“Cela aurait dû être ma ceinture,” Glazkov a dit. “je l'avais déjà compris. J'ai glissé et j'ai ressenti une douleur aiguë dans mon genou droit et je l'ai senti l'abandonner. je suis très énervé. Je veux une revanche quand je récupérerai.”

En non-télévisé l'action, Brooklyn Adam Kownacki (13-0, 10 KOs) ravi la foule de la ville natale avec une victoire passionnante et dominante sur Danny Kelly (9-2-1, 8 KOs). Le combattant d'origine polonaise a utilisé des crochets précis et des uppercuts dévastateurs pour gagner la décision unanime par des dizaines de 80-72 deux fois et 79-73.

“When people say the heavyweight champion of the world, I want one person to be recognized. I wish my opponent and all future opponents good luck, cause they’re going to need it.
“We’re not looking past Artur Szpilka. Things happen due to adrenaline and excitement, but I’m very confident about what I’m going to do Samedi nuit. He wants to be the first Polish heavyweight champion of the world. You know he’s coming to make history.

BROOKLYN, New York (Janvier 13, 2016) – WBC World Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder and Polish contender Arthur Pin continued their fight-week activities Wednesday, staring each other down for the first time at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.
Sur Samedi, 16 janvier the two men meet in a battle for Wilder’s heavyweight world title live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Couverture télévisée commence à 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and features unbeaten Charles Martin et Viatcheslav Glazkov battling for the vacant IBF Heavyweight World Championship.
