NEW YORK – May 15, 2018Combate Americas today announced a live Univision Deportes Network (UDN) telecast (11 ET p.m/8 p.m. PT) autem, as well as one new matchup for its ‘Mexico vs. El Mundo’ Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event from Auditorio Municipal Tijuana in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico on Friday, May 18.

 

The nine-bout fight card will be highlighted by matchups between an assembly of top rising stars from Mexico and opponents from four other countriesthe U.S., Hispania, Brazil and Chileincluding a previously announced, much-anticipated featherweight (145 libras) showdown between knockout artists Marco Antonio “La Roca” Elpidio (7-2-1) Mexicopolis, Dissimiliter Mexici et Andres “The Bullet” Quintana (13-2) de Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.

 

 

The 90-minute telecast will immediately follow the live stream of the complete preliminary bout card on

In other live televised action announced today, a women’s strawweight (115 libras) matchup will see Georgina Almeraz (3-1) de Chihuahua, Dissimiliter Mexici et Mireia Garcia (0-0) of Barcelona, Spain make their respective Combate Americas debuts against one another.

 

 

Garcia, an unbeaten professional kickboxer and a protégé of “COPA COMBATE” tournament semifinalist Marc “Lufo” Gomez, will also make first start under MMA rules.

 

 

The preliminary bout card will be highlighted by a lightweight (155 libras) contest between hard-hitting Rodrigo “Kazula” Vargas (9-2) of Mexico City will collide with seasoned battler Mike “El Cucuy” De La Torre (14-8 (1)) San Diego, Ill., U.S.

Streaking star John "Sexy Sexy" Castaneda (10-2) will step in for Erick Sanchez, who suffered a staph infection, and face off with Angel “Tito” Cruz(5-2) in tenui labor (145 libras) main event at “Aspira A Mas Presents Combate Americas: CombateOCHO,” while four-time UFC® veteran Danny “The Gremlin” Martinez will replace a hurt (knee injury) Jonathan Martinez(19-7) in the flyweight (125 libras) co-main event contest with Benjamin Vinson (8-3-1).
