Tenint en compte que és la temporada d'impostos, que és un bon moment per recordar que hi són tres garanties en la vida: mort, impostos i Ronda Rousey demostrant una vegada més per què és el millor boxejador de sexe femení al planeta amb una demolició de primera ronda del seu oponent.

Rendiment de Rousey en UFC 184 el mes passat era el seu més fi fins a la data. Ella va presentar un gat agulla, àmpliament considerat com el major repte de Rousey, a 14 segon. Mentre Rousey va ser ajudat per una estratègia absolutament horrible per Zingano, la seva actuació virtuosa portar a una altra discussió de qui té el que es necessita per destronar Rousey. També va donar lloc a una conversa ridícula de si és o no Rousey podria competir contra i derrotar als combatents masculins en la divisió de pes gall de la UFC. Com menys temps dedicat a aquesta idea absurda que no aconsegueix res, però tractant de desacreditar la gran lluitador Rousey és, la millor.

Per descomptat, el primer nom que sempre sorgeix és Cris "Cyborg" Justino, el campió de pes ploma de Invicta FC. Ella s'espera que caigui a 135 lliures per a una baralla amb Invicta aquest estiu abans de passar a una baralla amb Rousey. No obstant això, Cyborg va intentar una caiguda al pes gall de l'any passat i va abandonar els plans. Així que jo no aguantar la respiració en l'ajust de comptes tan esperat entre Rousey i Cyborg succeeixi aviat.

Rousey expressar recentment el seu desig de lluitar Bethe Correia, que va assotar a dos dels seus companys d'equip "Quatre Genets" de Rousey i ha estat trucant Rousey a terme des de llavors. Jessica Ull també ha apostat el seu reclam a una oportunitat pel títol, però cap d'aquestes dones suposen una amenaça real per Rousey. Mentre que ella és l'única dona a anar més enllà de la primera ronda amb Rousey, Tate s'ha estancat com un lluitador mentre Rousey ha millorat. Si els dos van anar a lluitar per tercera vegada, No veig cap raó per creure que el resultat seria diferent.

Llavors, on deixa això a Rousey? En la meva opinió, ella ha netejat la divisió de pes gall de la dona de UFC. No hi ha ningú que representi una amenaça creïble per a la seva. Si Zingano va ajustar la seva estratègia i va rebre una altra oportunitat de Rousey, ella podria tenir una oportunitat de guanyar. Més enllà d'això, si Rousey decidir sortir a la part superior i es basarà en la seva florent carrera al cinema, Jo no crec que ningú ho sostindria en contra.

Rousey es troba actualment en una cursa afí a la carrera d'Anderson Silva sobre de la divisió de pes mitjà de UFC. Dominava tots en el seu camí i amb excepció de la seva primera baralla amb Chael Sonnen, va fer que semblés fàcil. Lluita més dura de Rousey fins a la data va ser contra Liz Carmouche, quan va tenir Rousey en un rear naked choke en el primer assalt de la seva baralla en 2013 abans Rousey va poder escapar i assegurar altra victòria armbar.

El regnat de la Silva cim de la divisió de pes mitjà va arribar a la seva fi quan el fins llavors desconegut Chris Weidman va arribar i no va mostrar por i va prendre la baralla amb Silva. Potser això és el que ha de succeir amb Rousey. Ella ha de trobar un rival que rebrà just en la seva cara, ella no donar quarter i portar la lluita al seu. Agulla que va intentar en UFC 184, però el seu excés de zel va acabar costant el seu alt preu.

Fins Rousey troba el seu propi Chris Weidman, podem afegir un altre superlatiu als molts que ja estan units a campió de pes gall de la dona: netejador. Rousey està acabada d’haver-hi desafiats dignes de la seva corona, una tasca que porta a terme la neteja de la seva divisió.

Dissabte, Febrer. 28, is going to be a landmark day for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. All the fighters on the pay-per-view card that day will pass their pre-fight drug…….never mind. That’s too easy.

That day will be the first time a UFC card features women’s bouts in both its co-main event and main event. After middleweight champion Chris Weidman was forced to withdraw from his fight against Vitor Belfort due to injury, the new main event at UFC 184 is Ronda Rousey defending her women’s bantamweight belt against Cat Zingano. En l'esdeveniment co-principal, much-heralded prospect Holly Holm will make her UFC debut against Raquel Pennington in another women’s bantamweight fight.

As I’ve mentioned before, UFC has come a long way from when Dana White told TMZ that women would “never” fight in his organization. Rousey will main event her third consecutive February PPV and Holm is widely believed to be the next in line for a shot at the title, should she defeat Pennington. Holm is still very raw in mixed martial arts, but trains with the world renowned coaches Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn.

Rousey is carrying the flag for women’s MMA and for women in the UFC. Other female fighters have followed her into the Octagon, including Miesha Tate, Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis. What do those three have in common? They all also fell to Rousey – Tate twice in Strikeforce and the UFC, and Carmouche and Davis both in the first round at UFC PPVs in 2013 i 2014, respectivament.

Rousey and Tate’s feud is well-chronicled. It led to the two being coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, which included female fighters for the very first time who greatly outshined their male counterparts on the show that season.

Given that season’s success, the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter featured ALL female fighters and the debut of the UFC’s newest division, women’s strawweight. Carla Esparza, the former Invicta FC strawweight champion, won the inaugural UFC version of that belt after defeating Rose Namajunas.

So in the span of four years, UFC goes from having no female fighters and White emphatically stating that it never will, to being home to TWO female weight classes and undoubtedly the promotion’s biggest star right now in Rousey. Don’t believe me? Did you see the third Expendables movie? Or do you plan on seeing the film version of Entourage this summer? You might notice a familiar face.

So where does women’s MMA go from here? I am personally a big fan of female fights, as they tend to be among the more entertaining and action-packed fights on a UFC card. As I previously stated, female fighters are more than capable of outshining their male contemporaries. Why is that? Maybe female fighters feel they have more to prove inside the Octagon and always go for broke. Maybe they go into the Octagon with more of a “go for broke” mentality and actively seek a finish as opposed to “playing it safe.”

The fight between Rousey and Zingano on Feb. 28 will also go a long way toward determining the future of women’s MMA. Should Rousey defeat Zingano – which all signs indicate she will – she will have essentially cleaned out her division, with only unknown challengers like Holm and Bethe Correia left. If Zingano pulls the upset, then the division has a fresh batch of exciting matchups waiting.

But who knows what would have happened if Dana White kept his promise to TMZ?
