Mijares vs. Rojas was a rematch of their March 12, 2004 fight in Mexico, in which Mijares won a 12-round unanimous decision for the Mexico super flyweight championship. They had a combined pro record of 103-22-3 (58 KO), along with four world titles in two divisions, upon entering the ring last Saturday evening.

The main event and co-feature showcased a pair of world-class Mexican fighters, former minimumweight world champion Francisco “Chihuas” Rodriguez and No.1 world rated lightweight Dante “Gek” Jardon, in critical matches that had immediate world title fight implications.
The main event was a scheduled 10-round flyweight bout between Rodriguez (20-4-1, 13 KO) en Hajime Nagai (14-7-2, 4 KO), van Japan. ANNULEREN, Mexico (Oktober 10, 2016) – The replay of the August 24th “Cancun Boksen” kaart, presented by Pepe Gomez Boxing in association with Neon Star Media, will air this Wednesday night (Oktober. 12, vanaf 10 p.m. PT / 1 a.m. EN, op CBS Sports Network. Encore presentations will be Friday, Oktober. 21 (7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. EN) and Friday, Oktober. 28 (1 a.m. PT / 10 p.m. EN).

The event is the third installment of the “Cancun Boksen” series that will air on CBS Sports Network in 2016. Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex, Het ENIGE ultieme all-inclusive entertainmentresort van Cancun, will play host to all events in this ongoing series.

Hall-of-Fame announcer Al Bernstein and Sean Wheelock called the action live from ringside in Cancun, Mexico.

Future Hall of Fame candidate Jhonny Gonzalez (61-10, 51 KO) defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver super featherweight title for the fourth time, against Japanese invader Hiroysugi Yamamoto (19-12-2, 3 KO), in the scheduled 10-round main event.

The main event was a scheduled 10-round World Boxing Council (WBC) female world flyweight title fight between Mexico City rivals, titelverdediger Jessica “Kika” Chavez (26-4-3, 4 KO) en uitdager Esmeralda “Joya” Moreno (33-8-1. 11 KO), in a rematch of their February 19, 2011 gevecht, in which Moreno won a 10-round unanimous decision.

ANNULEREN, Mexico / LAS VEGAS (Juni 2, 2016) — Famed promoter Pepe Gomez has partnered with Neon Star Media to bring its monthly “Cancun Boksen” series to CBS Sports Network.

The first event will feature Mexico’s 3-time world super flyweight champion Cristian “El Diamante” Mijares (53-8-2, 26 KO) who takes on his fellow countryman, ongeslagen Andres “Jaguarito” Gutierrez, in the 12-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Featherweight Championship.
