“TERUG TERZAKE” KAMPIOENSCHAP BOKSEN IN HET HISTORISCHE SAN FRANCISCO ARMORY

SAN FRANCISCO, ZOALS (Oktober 3, 2017) – Professioneel boksen keert terug naar de stad San Francisco, ZOALS, op Oktober 21, 2017, als geboorteplaats held Karim “Hard Find” Mayfield (19-4-1, 11 KO), krijgt ongeslagen vooruitzicht Michael Dumas (10-0, 7 KO). “I really wanted to bring boxing back to San Francisco in a classy manner,” Said Karim Mayfield. “The San Francisco Armory is a beautiful venue that holds 4,000 mensen. We want to get the word out that this will be a friendly atmosphere where everyone of all walks of life can enjoy the fights. I’m facing a young hungry fighter from Mexico in Miguel Dunas who I know is going to bring it. We got a lot of local fighters on the card. It’s going to be a great show for everyone. Tickets are on sale now. I’m going to do a lot of damage come fight night.”
Ongeslagen Raquel “Pretty Beast” Molenaar (4-0, 2 KO) vs. Sydney LeBlanc (4-4) was supposed to serve as the co-feature, but LeBlanc had to pull out for undisclosed reasons. A new opponent will be announced soon. The 6-round co-feature bout will be in Super-lightweight division. Molenaar, who is currently ranked #2 door boxrec.com, was born and raised in San Francisco and is expected to have a lot of fans in attendance.
“This will be the first time I’ll be fighting in my hometown of San Francisco,” an ecstatic Raquel Miller said. “Everyone from my neighborhood, all my family and friends, they’re all coming out to watch me fight. I can’t wait to put on a great show for everyone. I’ll definitely be going for the knockout.”
Also on the card is Sacramento’s Xavier Martinez (9-0, 5 KO) vs. Jonathan Alcantara (7-16-2, 1 KO) in an 8-round bout in the featherweight division. Martinez is a member of Floyd Mayweather’s TMT (The Money Team) en Mayweather Promotions,
San Carlos, ZOALS, resident, Stan Martyniouk (17-2, 3 KO) vs. Luis Alfredo Lugo (14-27-1, 3 KO) will do battle in a 6-round super-lightweight clash.

Ruben Villa and Michael Dutchover remain undefeated with wins in Ontario, Californië

PHILADELPHIA, PENN./ORANGE, Calif. (Zeven. 25, 2017) – Heralded prospects, vedergewicht Ruben Villa and junior lightweight Michael Dutchover remained perfect with unanimous decision victories this past Vrijdag night in Ontario, Californië.
Ruben Villa (8-0, 4 KO) van Salinas, Calif. displayed his superior talent by out boxing veteran Ernesto Guerrero (26-20, 18 KO) of Mexico through six rounds. Villa swept all three scorecards (60-54) to continue an impressive start to his young career.

In what was perhaps his toughest test to date, Villa performed admirably and displayed his quickness by darting in and out of danger, all the while landing power shots to the head and body.

“We had a game plan for Guerrero, and we executed it perfectly,” Villa zei. “We gave him different looks and fought him from different angles. I don’t think he ever got comfortable.”

Thompson Boxing caught up the with Midland, Tex. native and got his take on relocating to the Los Angeles area, what it was like to spar with two world champions, and his outlook op vrijdag gevecht.

Your training camp was unlike any other in that you sparred against world champions Oscar Valdez and Jessie Magdaleno, as well as blue-chip prospect Michael Conlan. What was it like going against such high-level talent?

“Sparring against world champions elevates your game and boosts your confidence tremendously. I held my own the first few sessions with Oscar and Jessie and they called me back for other sessions. These guys expect solid work so I was glad that they brought me back. I’m gaining experience from some of the best so it’s awesome. It was also great sparring with Michael. With those three I was able to see different styles that will help me in my development.”

Your opponent Carlos Flores has had an uneven career. How do you get up for a fight where you are the clear favorite?

“You can’t think that every fight is going to be easy. If you’re not ready for a fight then anyone can make you look bad. This sport is unforgiving in that way. I’m going to be on my “Een” game and it will show Vrijdag.”

Earlier this year you made the decision to relocate to the Los Angeles area and leave your hometown of Midland, Tex. What has been the toughest part of this move?

“I’m doing what I love to do and that always involves sacrifices. The most difficult part is being away from friends and family and being far from home. I knew moving to Los Angeles was the right choice because if you want to get better, especially in the lower weight classes, this area is the place to be. On any given day you can spar with contenders and world champions so it’s been great for me.”

How do you see Friday’s fight going down?

“I can predict a solid win for me and my team. I’m going to let my punches go and just be active. I’ll work off the jab to open things up and I’m going to show an improved defense. I’m going to look the best I’ve looked so far. That much I know.”

Villa, a southpaw fighting out of Salinas, Calif., turned professional last July and already has produced seven one-sided wins. His opponent for Friday, Mexico’s Guerrero, is no push over. Guerrero has won his last five fights, four of which ended in knockout fashion.

“Guerrero’s a veteran so we’ve been extra serious in this camp,” zei Villa. “My team believes that I can take him out. My team wouldn’t set me up against an opponent that I wouldn’t be able to handle so I feel ready for this challenge.”

Villa, 20, loaded up on top-level sparring to help bridge the experience gap between him and Guerrero. He spent three weeks in Indio, Calif. sparring against elite competition such as unbeaten, world title contender Joseph Diaz.

559 Fights Middleweight Title on the Line Zaterdag
Two of California’s hottest prospects throw down Zaterdag voor de 559 Fights Middleweight Championship, when Albert Gonzales and Nick Maximov clash at Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, LIVE on FloCombat.

Gonzales represents Fresno, and Maximov calls Chico home. Both fighters sport unblemished 3-0 verslagen, and both are looking to add 559 Fights Champion to their resume Zaterdag.

“That belt is going to mean the world to me, één,” Gonzales says after a recent training session. “It’s going to symbolise all my hard work and dedication, and it’s going to mean even more to my supporters. There’s no way I’m leaving Visalia without that belt.”

“Good luck with that,” says his opponent Maximov, who’s also a wrestler for Clackamas College in Portland.

“This is my first main event and my first shot at taking home a belt; I’m ready to rise to the occasion,” Maximov says with a smile. “I’ve got a lot of respect for my opponent and what he’s accomplished so far in his career, but this is my time.”

“KO Night Boksen: Rumble on the Water 2” was presented by Black Tree, and promoted by Roy Englebrecht Promotions, in samenwerking met KO Night Boxing LLC en Roc Nation Sports.

The 5′ 4″ Williams (12-0, 5 KO), fighting out of New Haven (CT), exploded with pin-point accuracy, also displaying his new-found power, dropping Gonzalez 30-8, 26 KO), of Nicaragua, three time in the first round. The crafty southpaw finished off his more experienced opponent with a perfectly placed right-left combination, right on the button, for his third and final knockdown. Referee Raul Caiz, Jr. waved off the action, not bothering to count, as Gonzalez lay vertical on his back in dire straits.
“I prepared well for this fight and anything can happen when I work hard,” Williams remarked after his third consecutive knockout victory. “I felt his power early with a body shot but I stayed focused.
“I can deal with anybody in my division. I want to fight Lee Selby (IBF featherweight world champion), or any of the world champions, but none will fight me. I really want Gary Russell (WBC champion); Ik ben hier, Gary. It’ll be target practice for me.”

“You can’t learn if you don’t go rounds,” Younan correctly noted after the fight. “I’m only going to improve. Guy kept moving forward the entire fight. There were a couple of things that bothered me, but I went eight hard rounds and won. Thank you to Mike Guy for that.”
Former Winthrop College (SC) basketbalspeler Jonnie Rice (7-2-1, 4 KO), uitvechten van Los Angeles, opened the televised broadcast with a convincing six-round unanimous decision over Rodney “King Corso” Hernandez (10-6-2, 2 KO), van Fresno (ZOALS).

Woonplaats favoriet Raul Calderon (1-0) pitched a shutout over Eric Gomez (0-1), winning a four-round unanimous decision (40-36 X 3), in a battle of pro-debuting Californians. In the walkout-fight, Los Angeles featherweight Sergio “De jongen” Quiroz verbeterd 4-0 with a four-round unanimous decision over Lupe Arrotyo (2-7).

(Juli 24, 2017) – Former junior boxing prodigy and undefeated professional prospect, ongeslagen Junior “De jonge God” Younan, will be showcased in the “KO Night Boksen: Rumble on the Water 2” co-feature deze zaterdag (Juli 29), luchten (10 p.m. EN / 7 p.m. PT) op CBS Sports Network, live vanuit de openluchtlocatie van The Queen Mary in Long Beach, Californië. Fighting under the Roc Nation banner, Younan was a highly-decorated amateur boxer, compiling an outstanding 90-5 record. Given his success, Younan elected to turn pro in 2013 as an 18-year-old, rather than wait several years for an opportunity to qualify for the U.S. Olympisch Boksen Team.
Younan started boxing competitively as an eight-year-old and, alleen twee jaar later, The New York Times crowned him a “boxing prodigy”. During his impressive amateur career, he collected several belts, medals and awards, including nine championship performances in the Junior Olympics as well as the Junior Metros, eight in the New York State Silver Gloves, and five more in the Regional Silver Gloves. He was also a four-time National Silver Gloves recipient, three-time Ringside World winner, three-time National PAL, and two-time National Junior Golden Gloves champion. In 2011, he was crowned the National Junior Golden Gloves champion, in addition to being USA Boxing’s No. 1-rated junior boxer in his weight class.

Nagging injuries somewhat curtailed Younan’s development, limiting him to one fight in 2015. After a nine-month layoff, he returned triumphantly on March 26, 2016 to defeat Cristian Solorzano, van Sonora, Mexico, op de Andre Ward vs. Sullivan Barrera undercard at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Californië. With a win by way of a four-round unanimous decision, Younan improved his unblemished record to 8-0.

Three of Younan’s last four fights have ended in the opening round, including his most recent on Juni 17 on the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev 2 undercard at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The Brooklyn bomber made quick work of the Hungarian veteran Zoltan Sera (28-14, 20 KO) bij de 1:39 mark.

“It was an amazing experience for me as a 21-year-old to fight in Vegas on Andre Ward’s card,” Younan added. “Coming off that knockout, I have great momentum and confidence heading into this fight. I can’t wait.”

Nederlands Over, die traint in Zuid-Californië, maar woont in Midland, Tex., geconfronteerd met zijn zwaarste tegenstander tot nu toe: eenmaal geslagen Miguel Carrizoza (10-1, 2 KO) van Hermosillo, Mex.
De bout markeert Dutchover tweede 6-round strijd van zijn jonge carrière. Hij stormde de betaalde rangen met vier rechte knock-out wint.
“Het plan dit jaar is om mijn niveau van de concurrentie,” Said Dutchover, die onlangs sparred met wereldkampioen titel uitdager Petr Petrov. “Ik weet dat ik ben klaar voor de uitdaging. Ik wil op mijn manier te werken aan de top, en om dat te doen ik nodig om mezelf uit te dagen.”
Dutchover had een succesvolle amateur-run die hem zag winnen van negen nationale titels, een bronzen op de 2015 U.S. Olympische Trials, en een runner-up finish op vorig jaar de Nationale Golden Gloves competitie. Nederlands Over, 19, gelooft dat hij werd gebouwd om professioneel te vechten.
“Als amateur, Ik vaak verpakt zijn in de pro-stijl,” Said Dutchover, die telt Danny Zamora, oudere broer Junior Dutchover, en Javier Gomez als coach. “Ik heb niet echt gooien veel quick, kleine stoten die de amateurs definiëren. Ik was agressiever in mijn benadering. Ik werkte het lichaam en gooide een hoop power shots.”
Gedetailleerde tegenstander scouting verslagen in de eerste jaren van de professionele carrière van een bokser zijn vaak niet beschikbaar. Dutchover heeft een idee van wat te verwachten van Carrizoza, maar hij zal vooral een beroep doen op zijn uitgebreide amateur achtergrond.
“Ik had zo'n lange amateur-carrière dat ik in principe elke stijl hebben gezien in het boek,” Said Dutchover, die wordt bevorderd door Banner Promoties en Thompson Boksen. “Ik ga aan te passen in de ring en worden voorbereid op wat hij brengt. Ik had een uitstekende trainingskamp. Ik ben in grote vorm en klaar om te gaan na de andere overwinning.”
“We kijken ernaar uit om Micheal intensivering van de concurrentie op vrijdag nacht,” zei Matthew Rowland, Vice-voorzitter van Banner Promotions. “Michael heeft laten zien dat hij klaar is voor deze uitdaging, en we verwachten nog een geweldige prestatie.”

ORANJE, Calif. (Mei 22, 2017) – Top featherweight prospect Ruben Villa (6-0, 4 KO) continues to impress early in his professional career. Villa, a southpaw fighting out of Salinas, Calif., picked apart Anthony de Jesus Ruiz (2-3, 2 KO) to win by fifth round technical knockout.
Villa, who was naturally bigger than Ruiz, unloaded a serious of damaging shots in the fifth round. By that point, Ruiz had already absorbed a great deal of punishment and his corner wisely put an end to the onslaught at the 2:43 mark.
“My jab was working well all night,” zei Villa, who is promoted by Thompson Boxing and Banner Promotions. “I worked off backing him up with the jab and then that opened up a lot of angles for me to land power shots.”
“Ruben looked fantastic op vrijdagnacht,” zei Ken Thompson, voorzitter van Thompson Boksen. “He looked really comfortable and was in firm control of the fight from start to finish. He managed to fight a patient, yet aggressive fight to secure another knockout win.”
“We have been very happy with Ruben’s development. He is shaping to be the fighter we believe he will be,” said Banner Promotions vice-president, Matthew Rowland. “He is going to have a big future.”
