Team Perrella Reflects on Commission Cancelling Ugas Fight
Fort Myers, FL (August 10, 2016) – With his grueling training camp completed, undefeated welterweight rising star Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella was ready to fly to Verona, NY and enter the ring Freitag evening for a nationally televised fight against 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist Yordenis Ugas.
Leider, his fight with Ugas was unjustifiably cancelled by the Oneida Indian Athletic Commission.
During Perrella’s Juni 4 second round knockout of David Grayton, he suffered a thumb injury. While receiving a standard post fight visit from Quebec Athletic Commission officials, they took note of the injury. When the Ugas fight was scheduled, Quebec’s notes on Perrella were sent to the Oneida Commission. In order to face Ugas, Perrella was told that he must receive approval from a doctor. The 27-year-old twice visited a hand specialist, receiving formal written clearance to fight August 12. Team Perrella submitted the paperwork to the Oneida Commission and were prepared to put on a show Freitag Abend. Surprisingly, the commission refused to license him even with formal clearance.
"I’ve been involved in combat sports most of my adult life and thought I’d seen it all but this is without question a first,” said Perrella’s trainer Michael Nowling. “Bryant had a really good camp and we were both confident that this performance would get him to the next level but now we’ve got to wait for another fight date. This is extremely unfair because Bryant had medical clearance like they had requested but the commission inexplicably decided to cancel the bout on a few days notice. I’m looking forward to getting out next date and even with this mishap I’m still a believer that everything happens for a reason.”
Perrella, who was looking to go 15-0 and become the first man to stop the crafty Ugas, is disappointed but took the high road.
"I was ready to go. I was approved to fight by a hand specialist but the commission’s doctor had the ultimate decision and decided otherwise. We feel that this would’ve been my most spectacular performance to date but I’m no stranger to obstacles being put in my path. It develops character. I believe everything happens for a reason and God has other plans for me. This only added fuel to the fire. A beast just got released and cannot be tamed. I’ll be bigger, badder and better than ever when I get back in that ring!"
Team Perrella is expecting their next fight date to be announced shortly.

Perrella to battle Ugas August 12
Fort Myers, FL (Juli 15, 2016) – Unbeaten sensation Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella will look to take another step up the welterweight ladder when he meets 2008 Olympian Yordenis Ugas Friday, August 12 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
The card is promoted by Kings Promotions and will be televised as part of Premier Boxing Champions’ ESPN Boxing series at 9 Uhr ET.
Living and fighting out of Fort Myers, FL, Perrella’s 14-0 mit 13 wins by knockout and he’s stopped eight of his last 11 foes in less than three rounds. Auf Juni 4, Perrella captured the attention of the boxing world with a dominant second round knockout of previously unbeaten David Grayton. Following his victory, which came on the heels of Muhammad Ali’s passing, Perrella gave an Ali-eqsue interview where he expressed his desire to fight the best fighters at 147 Pfund. Opposing him will be crafty Cuban Yordenis Ugas. Born in Santiago de Cuba but now living and fighting out of Miami, FL, Ugas has a solid 15-3 Profibuch mit 7 KO. Ugas won the 2005 Pan American Championships, 2005 Senior World Championships, 2006 Central America and Caribbean Games, 2007 Pan American Games and four Cuban National Championships. In 2008, Ugas represented his country in the Olympics and won the bronze medal. Ugas was last seen dropping a competitive decision to highly touted Amir Imam and Perrella will be his fourth unbeaten foe, none of which have stopped him.
Perrella said of Ugas “I think he’s a good fighter and the fact he’s never been knocked out motivates me. I take it as a challenge and I plan to be the first to stop him. I’m obsessed with becoming the best because this is who I am. I grind like no other and put on great performances for the fans. August 12 wird es nicht anders!"

Fort Myers, FL (Juli 5, 2016) – Rising star Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Fort Myers Miracle’s 6:05 pm showdown against the Dunedin Blue Jays Samstag, Juli 9 at Hammond Stadium.
Living and fighting out of Fort Myers, FL, Perrella burst onto the national scene by scoring a second round stoppage of previously unbeaten David Grayton Juni 4 auf ESPN. Perrella, 14-0 (13 KO), followed his victory with a memorable post fight interview where he emphatically stated he’s ready to fight the best in the welterweight division.
Outside of the ring Perrella is literally a good fella, living a clean lifestyle while giving back to the community by participating in different charitable causes.

Perrella back in training; excited for next Opportunity
Fort Myers, FL (Juni 22, 2016) – Welterweight rising star Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella has returned to the gym and is training in anticipation of his next bout.
Juni 4, Perrella destroyed previously unbeaten two time National Golden Gloves champion David Grayton on ESPN. Rather than go on vacation or celebrate his victory, Perrella immediately wanted to resume training. At the advice of his team, he took a short period of time off before getting back into the gym less than two weeks after his career best victory.
Even though he’s currently waiting to get the word on his next fight date, the 27-year-old Fort Myers native believes he’ll be in another televised bout in the coming months. Natürlich, his immediate goal is to raise his record to 15-0 while continuing to fight his way into the upper echelon of the 147 Pfund-Division.

MONTREAL (Juni 4) – As the world mourns the loss of Muhammad Ali, Samstag night’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN and ESPN Deportes telecast began with a “Ceremonial 10-Count” in memory of “Der Größte” and continued to pay tribute to him throughout the telecast that was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between hard-hitting Russian Olympian Artur Beterbiev against Argentina’s Ezequiel Maderna.
The 31-year-old Beterbiev (10-0, 10 KOs), who fights out of Montreal, returned to the ring after an almost year-long layoff following shoulder surgery. Now seven months removed from the procedure, Beterbiev looked sharp from the opening bell as he threw straight right hands and body shots effectively to start the fight.
Maderna, who was also coming off of a long layoff, was hoping to make a statement in his first fight on North American soil as he moved up in weight for this bout. Beterbiev utilized his power and precision to control the entire fight, but kicked it into high gear in the third round, sending the 29-year-old Maderna to the canvas with two right hands. ”My guy did really well after an absence of a year,” said Beterbiev’s trainer Marc Ramsay. “He is very special. In a short or medium period of time, we want to fight in a world championship.”
The PBC on ESPN telecast, which is the first of seven between Juni 4 und August 12, opened with two welterweight southpaws facing off in hopes of maintaining their undefeated records. Perrella knocked Grayton down in the beginning of the second round and became forceful with the right hand as Grayton left himself open to punishment. “He came in real tough – a tough competitor,” Said Perrella. “I was the best man tonight. I caught him with some really hard shots, dazed him. I took my time, I listened to what my team said and got him out of there.
“This is tremendous,” Perella continued. “This is what we’ve been wanting for a while to fight another undefeated prospect and get the recognition we feel we deserve. The welterweight division is filled with lions, tigers and bears, but I’m Tarzan baby. I’m the king of this jungle. I’m ready for whatever.”
Also featured on the telecast was a six-round super welterweight contest between prospect Jamontay Clark (10-0, 6 KOs) of Cincinnati and Mexican warrior Edgar Ortega (16-6, 10 KOs). The game Ortega shocked the six-foot-two Clark in the first round, sending him to the canvas with a hard right hand. Clark regained his composure in between the first and second, controlling the fight from then on. Despite taking the fight with nine days’ beachten, Ortega stayed with Clark all six rounds, even rolling his ankle in the fourth. After the final bell rung, Clark remained undefeated, registering a unanimous decision victory with the judges scoring the bout 58-55 und 58-54 (zweimal).

Perrella ready for breakthrough performance June 4
Fort Myers, FL (Mai 24, 2016) – Welterweight Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella of Fort Myers, FL faces his toughest foe to date when he challenges Washington, DC’s David “Day Day” Grayton Saturday, Juni 4.
The anticipated ten round match up between unbeaten southpaws takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal as part of a Premier Boxing Champions card on ESPN.
Both Perrella, 13-0 (12 KO), and Grayton, 14-0 (10 KO), were heralded amateurs that have been dominant thus far in the paid ranks. As is typically the case when two noteworthy prospects meet, the winner moves a step closer to contention while the fighter who falls short often has to climb back up the mountain.
With Grayton undefeated in his own right and also very hungry to advance his career by emerging victorious, Perrella’s taken his training to new heights. The 27-year-old has traveled throughout the Sunshine State for quality sparring and is strengthening his body by doing regular aquatic training. This has helped him remove weight properly so there won’t be any surprises on the scale. To further assist, Perrella hired a private chef to ensure he’s refueling his body properly.
Insgesamt, Perrella’s team is confident about the match up against Grayton and believes the hard work in the gym is an integral part why Bryant will have his hand raised June 4.
