Both of these terrific showdowns are in support of the night’s 10-round main event with Honolulu, Hawaii’s undefeated Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon (12-0, 10 KO) defending his WBO-NABO Youth Junior Welterweight Championship against former WBA Fedecentro Super Lightweight, WBA Fedecaribe Welterweight and WBA Fedecentro Welterweight Champion John “El Emperador” Rentería (16-4-1, 12 KO) of Panama.

Perez wins New Jersey State Super Middleweight Title with decision over Aikens in Atlantic City Classic

ATLANTIC CITY (September 10, 2018)–DeCarlo Perez and Antowyan Aikens lived up to the pre-fight hype of a knockdown- dragout war that eventually saw Perez eek out an eight-round unanimous decision on Saturday night at The Bourbon Room inside the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City.

 

The bout between Atlantic City rivals, which gave Perez the New Jersey State Super Middleweight title, headlined an terrific 10-bout card promoted by Rising Star Promotions.

 

 

The fight saw Perez push the action early as he buckled Aikens into the ropes in the 2nd round. Not only did Aikens stem the tide, but came back emphatically, as he landed a perfect right that sent Perez to the canvas.

 

Now with Aikens seemingly in control. Perez came back the very next round to land a perfect left hook that put Aikens on the canvas. It looked like Perez would be able to end the fight, but Aikens came back and stood toe-to-tow with Perez, and gave as good he received.

 

With a cut over his left eye, Perez was able to box his way down the stretch of the fight, which thrilled the capacity crowd and the Showboat Hotel.

 

 

 

Perez of Atlantic City won by scores of 77-72, 76-74 en 75-74 om te verbeteren 17-6-1. Aikens of Atlantic City is 13-5-1.

 

 

 

“Antowyan surprised me on how he was able to be so consistent. When he did knock me down, I was able to stay calm, and keep my composure. NEF SELLS OUT BANGOR FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR WITH WILD MMA CARD

Bangor, Maine (September 9, 2018) - New England Fights (NEF) held its latest mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 35: Wicked Season,” on Saturday night at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. It was the third time in as many years that the fight promotion visited the Queen City and sold out the venue.

The main event featured a bout hailed as the “Battle of Bangor” as popular locals Aaron “Meedogenloos” Lacey (6-2) en Jon Lemke (7-9) squared off. Lacey submitted Lemke in the first round with a rear-naked choke.

Woonplaats favoriet “De” Ryan Sanders (17-9) took on Mando “Big Chino” Montoya (10-7) in de co-main event. Bij de 4:10 teken van de eerste ronde, Sanders, the reigning NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, forced Montoya to tap to a guillotine choke.

Forlenza was able to score a technical knockout via referee stoppage due to strikes to capture the title. SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 9, 2018) – Last night TMB & PRB Entertainment gepresenteerd “Fight Night at the Scottish Rite 2” a ten-bout card that took place at the Scottish Rite Theatre in downtown San Antonio. In the six-round main event, local fighters, Gilbert Venegas en Armando Cardenas gave the fans a crowd-pleasing showdown.
Cardenas, who had the height and reach advantage, was doing his best to box from the outside, but was getting caught with overhand rights by Venegas. At the end of round two, Venegas dropped Cardenas with a looping right hand. Cardenas wasn’t hurt to bad and came back strong in round three. Venegas then started landing pounding body shots, slowing down Cardenas’ comeback. Another overhand right by Venegas dropped Cardenas for the second time in round four. Venegas followed with a vicious left hook to the body that put Cardenas down once again in round three. Cardenas was badly hurt but made it to the final round. Both fighters went out with a blaze of glory as they went toe to toe in the last seconds of round six. Venegas remains undefeated winning by unanimous decision, improving his record to (10-0, 6 KO), while Armando Cardenas’ record stands at (9-2, 5 KO). Scorecards unavailable.
4-Round Super Featherweight Bout
Richard Medina (1-0, 1 KO) verslagen. Jonathan Ewer (0-7)
17-year old amateur standout Richard Medina made his highly anticipated pro debut. He made easy work of a game Johnathan Ewer. Medina’s speed and power was on display as he landed several combinations in the opening round, dropping Ewer twice. Scorekaarten lezen 58-56 for Wilson and 57-57 tweemaal. The decision upset Sanibanez and he stormed out of the ring, leaving the photographers empty handed.

Luis Villareal (3-0-1, 1 KO) verslagen Stetson Horne (0-2)
In a close fight, Luis Villareal edged out Stetson Horne over four rounds. Villareal applied pressure from the opening bell, forcing Horne to box from the outside. Villareal was the busier fighter who landed the cleaner shots and won by unanimous decision. Scorekaarten lezen 39-37 for Villareal.

BROOKLYN (September 9, 2018) – Shawn Porter became WBC Welterweight World Champion Saturday night as he earned a narrow unanimous decision victory over Danny Garcia in a hotly contested fight live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center, het huis van BROOKLYN BOKSEN ™, in een gebeurtenis die door Premier Boxing Champions.

Porter earned the belt that Keith Thurman, who previously defeated Porter and Garcia, was forced to vacate due to an injury.

 

 

 

In an anticipated title fight that was widely regarded as a 50-50 contest in boxing’s deepest division, Garcia vs. Porter played out as advertised. The difference in total power punches landed throughout the 12-round battle was just five, with Garcia holding the narrow advantage.

 

 

 

In a matchup of accuracy vs. activity, Porter looked to outworked Garcia. He was relentless in his attack and threw 742 total punches and 544 macht stoten, landing 25 procent. Garcia, aan de andere kant, was the more precise fighter, landing the higher percentage and more meaningful punches. He connected on 46 percent of the 304 power punches he threw. Due to the contrasting styles, the three judges were only able to all agree on four rounds.

 

 

 

“I made a prediction and a hard one to live up to,” Said Porter. “I said I wasn’t leaving New York without this belt and I’m not leaving New York without this belt. I knew he was going to be accurate. The game plan for me was to be accurate from the outside and show I could beat him without roughing him up on the ropes.”

 

 

 

A disappointed Garcia clearly disagreed with the judges’ scorecards.

 

 

 

“He was throwing a lot,” Said Garcia, who falls to 7-2 in de wereld titel gevechten. “I had my defense tight, so I wasn’t feeling his punches. I thought I landed the clearer shots and won this fight.

“I have to sit back, relax and see what’s next for me.”

 

 

 

Following the announcement of the decision, IBF welterweight champion and consensus top-five pound-for-pound fighter Errol Spence Jr. entered the ring to challenge the newly crowned WBC champion to what would be a blockbuster unification bout.

 

 

 

“The same way that you called Danny out, I’m going to call you out”, said Spence. “I think I’m the best welterweight in the division. I’m ‘The Truth’ and I guarantee you I come home as unified champion. I definitely want that fight against Porter.”

 

 

 

It was a star-studded night at Barclays as current and former world champions attended the fights, including Spence, Mikey Garcia, Jarrett Hurd, Gervonta Davis, Adrien Broner, Andere Berto, Claressa Shields, Keith Thurman and Jermell and Jermall Charlo.

 

 

 

In the co-featured event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING, consensus top-10 welterweight Yordenis Ugas (23-3, 11 KO) out boxed Argentina’s Cesar Miguel Barrionuevo (34-4-2, 24 KO) on his way to a dominating unanimous decision victory (119-109, 120-108, 120-108). With the win in the WBC title eliminator, Ugas earns the WBC’s second mandatory position to fight Porter.

 

 

 

In a tactical performance, Ugas dictated the pace from the opening bell and looked comfortable throughout the 12 rondes. Kownacki, who was fighting at Barclays Center for the seventh time in his pro career, started the fight on the front foot, backing up his opponent and wearing him out on his way to winning the early rounds. Martin began to claw his way back into the fight and caught a second win in the seventh round, landing several powerful left-handed blows to the head of Kownacki.

The Brooklyn native defeated an aggressive and determined Yamila Esther Reynoso (11-5-3, 8 KO) to earn the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight World Championship via unanimous decision (all three judges scored the fight 99-91).

NEW YORK (September 7, 2018)–Boxing’s deepest management stable just got richer as Split-T Management is proud to announce the signing of amateur standout Eric Puente to an exclusive management deal.

 

 

 

Puente, 19 years old of Vista, California by way of Sinaloa, Mexico will campaign in the lightweight division.

 

 

 

Puente started boxing at the age of eight years-old by his father/trainer, John.

 

 

 

He went on to win the 2016 National Youth Open Championship, and was a member of Team USA. Puente was a favorite to be a member of the 2020 United States Olympic Team.

 

 

 

Puente, who stand 5’8″ likens his style to a cross between Danny Garcia and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
