He’s my third opponent, but that’s part of boxing. Ich bin hart trainiert, passed my medicals, and it’s like I’m hungry again. I haven’t fought in years, but I’ve taken good care of my body. I didn’t visualize doing this at 45. I’ve also heard that, after August 17th, there’s a possibility of a title for me by the end of this year.

Chuck Shearns (GCP Copromotor): “I’m honored to be involved in this show. Jose and I have been friends for years. Months ago, this all started with a text conversation (Chuck, Jose and A.J.). A week later, it started getting serious, and then we had Jose and A.J. fighting on this card. Leider, A.J. isn’t fighting on this card, but the show will go on.

Jose Angel Ortiz: “Ich bin sehr gespannt. Ich habe nicht in zwei Jahren gekämpft. Ich sollte vor Rückkehr, aber die Dinge nicht geklappt hat. Ich habe nie Boxen verlassen, weil ich in der Turnhalle die ganze Zeit bin Ausarbeiten oder die Ausbildung andere Kämpfer. Jose und ich sind beide in unseren vierziger. Vater-Sohn Jose Antonio & A.J. Rivera “Geschichte schreiben” Weltmeister Rückkehr & Sohn des Profidebüt

MAKING HISTORY
Mit der Rückkehr von 3-fach, 2-Teilung Weltmeister
“Der gallo” José Antonio Rivera
Samstag, AUGUST 17, 2018
das Palladium, Worcester, Massachusetts
August 17 im Palladium in Worcester, MA
(L-R): A.J. und Jose Antonio Rivera

WORCESTER, Masse. (Juni 20, 2018) — This past Father’s Day was considerably different for three-time, Zwei-Teilung Weltmeister “Der gallo” Jose Antonio Rivera and his pro-debuting son, A.J. Rivera, because they will be “Geschichte schreiben,” presented by Rivera Promotions Entertainment and Granite Chin Promotions, August 17 at The Palladium.

Rivera and his son, beziehungsweise, are the promoter and matchmaker for Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), which will co-promote “Geschichte schreiben” with Granite Chin Promotions (GCP).

We are excited to be teaming up with GCP for this historic boxing event,” Jose commented. “We have had the pleasure of working with Chris (Traietti) and Chuck (Shearns) in der Vergangenheit. We are grateful that they are able to work with us again to make sure we put together a great boxing event.

The Riveras will become the first world-champion father-son combination to fight on a pro show that is promoted by their company. More significantly, A.J. will become the first pro boxer to be born with Spina Bifida.

Jetzt 45 Jahre alt, Rivera is making his second comeback, but this time it’s solely to fight on the same card as his son. Due to a variety of reasons, “Der gallo” retired from the ring in 2008, but he came back in 2011 for two fights, both victories, before hanging up his gloves again.

Zwei Kämpfe später, in front of nearly 10,000 Heimatstadt Fans in Worcester, Rivera won a 12-round unanimous decision over defending champion Alejandro Garcia (25-1) um den WBA-Weltsuperweltergewicht Titel.

I am boxing at 45 years old because of this great opportunity that has arisen for my son and I,” Jose explained. “Boxing on the same card with my son is going to be exciting and, even more so, because we will be a part of history! I am fortunate to be healthy, körperlich, and I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for not having any brain issues from my prior years of boxing. I’ve lost 20 Pfund, bis jetzt, and need to lose 12 more to make the 160-pound weight class.

I am not sure how the night of the fight is going to go. I play it in my head over and over about how I would like it to go, aber am Ende, I’m confident we will both be ready for tough fights because of the hard work we’re both putting in at the gym.

Fan response has been good, positive and supportive of what we both are doing and attempting to accomplish. To look back at the day I was told my son was going to be born with Spina Bifida, preparing myself mentally for the worse, und jetzt 25 years later here we are close to fulfilling his childhood dream. Es ist wunderbar! I feel blessed to share this moment with my son. I am also happy that we can do this in front of our family, Freunde & fans in our City of Worcester, where my son was born, and I was raised since I moved there when I was 16.

On Aug. 17, Rivera will face battle-tested middleweight Ryan “Gefährlich” Davis (24-19, 9 KOs), fighting out of East Saint Louis, Illinois, in dem Acht-Runden-Main Event. Davis has been in with the iron, including six-time, zwei Teilung Weltmeister Zab Judah, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Weltmeister Ische Smith, two-time world title challenger and 2004 US Olympian Vances Martirosyan, WM-Herausforderer Jonathan Reid, reigning International Boxing Association (IBA) world junior middleweight champion Mark DeLuca, plus other notables such as Rob Brant, Mikael Zewski, Carlos Bojorquez und Dominik Britsch.

Twenty-five-year-old A.J. will fight an opponent to be determined in a four-round welterweight match. He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales with a major in sports management, who has quickly become one of the most respected matchmakers in New England.

A.J. grew-up in a gym, watching his father train, and he also fought as an amateur boxer. “I’ve always wanted to fight as a pro and what better way than to make my pro debut on the same card headlined by my pops,” Rivera sagte. “This is a one and done, I’m not going to box as a career and, hopefully I will leave the ring on August 17th and retire undefeated. I plan to make matchmaking a career. I can stay in the sport I’ve always loved and matchmake for our company and for other promoters.

I was born with Spina Bifida. A layer of skin covered a hole in my back, preventing water from getting in, which would have damaged my system and left me paralyzed, unable to speak and with a shunt in my head to drain fluid. The doctors told my parents that, if I survived, I’d only live to be 19, in a wheelchair and a little autistic. I had surgery the next day and my pops kept hope. As I got older, I played basketball, Fußball, baseball and boxed. I was inactive for seven years when I went away to school and started matchmaking.

In addition to sacrificing to make weight, instead of having a Father’s Day cookout, he watched what he ate and, natürlich, workout with his father in the gym to prepare for his pro debut.

I wasn’t able to celebrate my 25th anniversary on June 2 entweder,” A.J. zusätzlich. “I plan to celebrate my birthday and Father’s Day when I step out of the ring on August 17th. Dann, I’ll go back to focusing on my craft and become a full-time matchmaker.

Red-hot Richard “Popeye der Seemann” Rivera (8-0, 7 KOs), Kampf aus Hartford, CT, will be showcased in the eight-round co-featured event. Rivera is the reigning UBF All Americans light heavyweight and ABF International cruiserweight champion.

Schedule to fight on the undercard in separate bouts are Worcester junior middleweight Khiary Grau (15-4, 11 KOs), promoted by CES Boxing, Danbury, CT Junior-Weltergewicht Omar “The Beast” Bordoy, Jr. (6-0, 2 KOs), Springfield field~~POS=HEADCOMP, MA Weltergewicht Jose Angel “KO” Ortiz (4-13-1, 1 KO) und pro-debütierende Feder Joshua Orta, Südbrücke, MA Weltergewicht Wilfredo “die Sucaro” heidnisch (4-0, 2 KOs), Worcester Leichtbau Francisco Irizarry (4-0, 2 KOs) and pro-debuting lightweight Eslih Owusu.

Opponents will soon be announced. Alle Kämpfe und Kämpfer sind Änderungen vorbehalten.

Good to finish because he eats his spinach
Russell Kimber wins pro debut
HAMPTON, N.H. (Dezember 9, 2017) — Colorful light heavyweight prospect Richard “Popeye der Seemann” Rivera blieb ungeschlagen (5-0, 4 KOs), Veteran Roberto “The Old” Valenzuela, letzter Nacht (Sa.) in der “Rumble at The RIM” Hauptereignis, von Granit Chin Promotions präsentiert, at The RIM Sports Complex in Hampton, New Hampshire.
Rivera, Kampf aus Hartford (CT), controlled the action from the opening bell against his battle-tested opponent from Mexico, who had a tremendous experience advantage in his 147th Profi-Kampf, compared to Rivera’s fifth.
Valenzuela spent most of the time on the ropes, while Rivera teed-off on him, until a beautiful placed left hook by Rivera decked Valenzuela, who failed to get up until after referee Mike Ryan completed the 10-count.
A busload of Rivera’s fans drove five hours from Hartford through a snowstorm, arriving just before Rivera entered the ring. “That means a lot to me,” Rivera smiled as he spoke about his fans. “We’re more than a gym, wir sind Familie.
I was so used to an amateur style but now I’m a pro. I’m relaxing and picking my punches. Nächster, I want to win the New England title. It’s vacant and I want it!”
This was our first show in New Hampshire and I consider it a success,” Copromotor Chuck Shearns sagte,, “despite some things going against us like tonight’s weather. We’re grateful for the support we received from Hampton, New Hampshire, the commission and local businesses. They worked with us and we can’t wait to return.
The son and nephew of multiple-time world kickboxing championsfather Tommy and uncleworked his cornerPeabody, MA Russell Kimber had a promising pro debut against tough Nathan Schulte in a match contested at a 185-pound catchweight. The 32-year-old Kimber, who was the crowd favorite having lived several years in New Hampshire, overcame the determined Schulte for a hard-fought victory by way of a four-round majority decision.
I was a little nervous with this being my first time in a pro ring,” Kimber admitted after his fight. “I hadn’t been in a ring for 1 ½ years and there was some ring rust. Jetzt, I know what I need to good, and I’ll be a lot better next fight. This was my first camp and I’ve learned a lot. I’d like to stay busy, come back in late January, early February.
Undefeated Whitman, MA junior welterweight prospect Mikrofon “Bad Man” JE, Jr.charged across the ring, unloading a powerful right that immediately sent Bardraiel Smith auf die Leinwand. Smith somehow got to his feet but Ohan quickly ended Smith’s night, only 30-second into round one, as referee Ryan waved off the action.
New England cruiserweight champion and the show’s co-promoter, Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (25-5, 19 KOs) übertroffen Fabian Valdez en route to a win by second-round knockout in a stay-busy fight to close out 2017. In a non-title fight contested at a 185-pounds catchweight, the Quincy, MA-based Traietti floored his game Mexican opponent with a straight right midway through the opening round, closing the show in the second round with a series of unanswered punches.
The only New Hampshire native on the card, Claremont junior middleweight Ricky Ford(1-1-1) won his first pro fight, taking a lop-sided, four-round unanimous decision over pro MMA fighter Andy Aiello, who made his pro boxing debut.
In another stay-busy fight, former world-rated Ryan “Der polnische Prinz” Kielczweski(27-3, 9 KOs), fighting out of Quincy (MA), needed only 51-seconds to finish off Mexican lightweight Francisco “Der Affe” Medal. Kielczweski hit Medal with a with a lethal left to the body, leaving Medal in obvious pain and unable to rise before the 10-count.
New Jersey middleweight Chris “Sandmann” Thomas (7-0-1, 4 KOs) kept his unbeaten pro record intact with a second-round stoppage of Demetrius Thomas. Thomas used a rapid-fire combination to drop Thomas, who beat the count, but he was getting hammered when referee Ryan stopped the fight late in the second round.
