NABF LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE ON THE LINE FOR Septembris 22 SHOWDOWN

SAN ANTONIO, TX (Augusts 18, 2018) – Undefeated NABF Lightweight champion, Selina “Aztec Queen” Apkārtne (4-0, 2 Kos), has an opponent for her Corpus Christi Showdown on September 22, 2018. Barrios will face Patricia Juarez (4-0), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Mariana “Bārbija” Juarez (50-9-4, 13 Kos).

 

 

 

On the line will be Selina’s NABF Lightweight title. The 10-round bout will take place at Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

 

 

 

“Patricia Juarez asked to fight me, and I feel that part of being a champion is accepting fights with worthy opponents,” teica Selīna Bariosa, who hails from San Antonio, TX. “She is an undefeated fighter with the same record as me, and her sister is a future Hall of Famer. NEW YORK – Augusts 9, 2018 – Amanda Serrano will fight for a world title in a sixth weight division on Saturday, Septembris 8 Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING™. Brooklyn’s Serrano will face Yamila Esther Reynoso for the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight World Championship. If successful, Serrano will set a women’s boxing record as a six-division world champion, joining Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya as the only boxers, male or female, to reach the mark.

SHOWTIME Sports will live-stream Serrano vs. Reynoso as part of undercard coverage on the network’s social media platforms. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COUNTDOWN begins live at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on the SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel and SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page. The live stream precedes a three-fight SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast (9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT, Showtime) headlined by Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter for the welterweight world championship.

SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COUNTDOWN, the network’s seventh social media offering of live boxing in 2018, is available to all domestic users with internet access. The livestream is hosted by Ray Flores with Chris Mannix serving as analyst.

Serrano (34-1-1, 26 Kos), who is already the only woman to win titles in five weight classes, is looking to best her personal record. Born in Carolina, Puerto Rico and representing her hometown of Brooklyn, Serrano has won titles from 118 līdz 135 mārciņas, earning her the No. 2 ranking on the BWAA’s inaugural women’s pound-for-pound list. The 29-year-old is also the only Puerto Rican – male or female – to capture world titles in five different weight classes and will look to build on that record against Reynoso. She fights for the fifth time in her career at Barclays Center on September 8 with a chance to once again make history again in front of the passionate fan base of Puerto Rican boxing fans in New York.

“I’m super excited to be fighting for a world title in my sixth weight class,” Said Serrano. “My opponent is really a welterweight, having defended her Argentinean 147-pound title by knockout in her last fight, and is dropping down one division to face me. I am coming up four divisions for this shot. I’m sure Reynoso will rehydrate back up to her natural weight after the weigh-in, but this is a risk worth taking. She’s never been stopped either, so I know she’s durable. This is a tremendous card to be a part of with Garcia vs. Porter as the main event. Claressa Shields Named Top-10 Finalist for 2018 Individual Sport “Sportswoman of the Year” by the Women’s Sports Foundation

Women’s boxing sensation Claressa Shields has been named a top-10 finalist for the 2018 Individual Sport “Sportswoman of the Year” by the prestigious Women’s Sports Foundation.

 

 

 

The two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and now two-division professional World Champion will be looking to repeat as winner this year, as she already won the award in 2016, after her second gold medal victory.

 

 

 

Finalists were selected based on athletic performances between August 1, 2017, un jūnijā 30, 2018. The public and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Awards Committee will select the award winner. Napoleon had a previous fight scheduled for June 21 postponed and has continued training in preparation to defend her world title.

 

 

 

Fighting in the paid ranks for just one-year, Rankin defeated then undefeated Sanna Turunen over ten rounds in June to capture the vacant WBC Silver Women’s Middleweight Title and her third straight victory headed into August 4.

 

 

 

A professional musician outside of the ring, the 27-year-old Rankin plays the bassoon and has traveled the world in recent years playing with numerous orchestras while also training and furthering her career in the squared circle.

When I landed that left hook, I knew she wasn’t going to get up. I set it up nicely, and she walked right into it. I have a lot of respect for Aida, she fought like a warrior, and if she wants the rematch, I’ll give it to her.”

SAN ANTONIO, TX (Jūlijs 3, 2018) – Undefeated female sensation, Selina “Aztec Queen” Apkārtne (3-0, 1 KO), returns to the ring this Saturday night, Jūlijs 7, 2018, as the main event in Corpus Christi, Teksasa, in the well-established American Bank Center Water Garden Room, bringing a loaded card of fistic fury.

Apkārtne, who owns the NABF lightweight title, which she won in her 3rd professional bout, saskarsies Aida “Lady Sparta” Satybaldinova (3-0-1) no Astana, Kazahstāna, best known as the “Female GGG”, and is the current WBF International Lightweight Champion. Russian Prospect Elena Savelyeva to Face IBF #10- and WBC #11-rated Nina Radovanovic on Friday, Jūlijs 13 in Montenegro

Gold-star women’s bantamweight prospect Elena Savelyeva (4-0, 3 Kos) of Russia will return to the ring on Friday, Jūlijs 13, in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, for an eight-round showdown against current #10 IBF un #11 WBC contender Nina Radovanovic (12-2, 3 Kos) of Serbia.

 

 

 

Formerly one of the most decorated female amateur boxers in the world, Savelyeva is being fast-tracked by her co-promoters, Salita Promotions and Russia-based Alexander Nevskiy Promotion Group. Radovanovic is a two-time world-title challenger, whose only two losses occurred in world-championship fights.

 

 

 

“Even though I only have four professional fights, I want to fight the best and show the boxing world my skills,” said Savelyeva, a former world, Eiropas (2X) un krievu (6X) amatieru čempions, who represented her homeland in the 2012 Summer Olympics and competed in the first-ever women’s Olympic boxing match in history.

Christina Hammer Defends WBC and WBO Middleweight Belts With Unanimous Decision Against Tori Nelson

DETROIT (Jūnijs 23, 2018) – Claressa Shields became a two-division world champion, and Christina Hammer retained her two world title belts as both scored unanimous decision victories on Friday night on SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION from the Masonic Temple in Detroit, mani.

 

 

 

And now they have their sights set on one another.

 

 

 

The two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Shields of nearby Flint, Mich., was knocked down for the first time in her career 53 seconds fani pirmajā kārtā, but she was able to come back and win every round after that to become a two-division world champion capturing the vacant IBF and WBA Middleweight World Championships against Hanna Gabriels. “I’m just tired of Hammer disrespecting me all the time,” Shields (6-0, 2 Kos) teica. “She comes into the ring after all my rights, talks trash, and then she goes in there and looks like [crap] against Nelson. I’m sick of it. But I let her know I’m more than ready for a fight against her. She wanted me to lose tonight, but I wanted her to win because I want to fight her. We have to unify now.”

 

 

 

Shields and Gabriels started the fight swinging furiously, but it was Gabriels (18-2-1, 11 Kos) who connected on a right uppercut sending Shields to the canvas. (see the knockdown video ŠEIT)

 

 

 

“Once I went down, I took a deep breath and I remember thinking to myself, ‘I’m about to whip this girl’ ” Shields said. “I just remember thinking let’s use the jab and be smart.”

 

 

 

Costa Rica’s Gabriels, a unified 154-pound titleholder, was coming up in weight and attempting to become a three-division world champion. (see Shields-Gabriels highlights ŠEIT).

 

 

 

“I trained to go the distance but my heart betrayed me, because after that first knock down, I was looking for another one,” said Gabriels, the reigning WBA and WBO champion who was fighting in her 12th straight world title fight since winning the welterweight title in 2009. “I wanted to show everyone I had a warrior’s heart.

 

 

 

“I didn’t feel I had an advantage after the knockdown. I felt I had to work round after round to even have a possibility to win.”

 

 

 

Added Gabriels: “She has a lot of power. It was a great fight and you have to accept the judges’ decision. She’s powerful and for the fans I think it went well.

 

 

 

Shields suffered a cut on the left cheek in round 10, and also overcame a head butt. She recalled being hurt by Gabriels’ punches to the head just three times in the fight. “The first round, fourth round and the eighth round, other than that she didn’t hit me with no head shots.”

 

 

 

Shields – in her first fight with new trainer John David Jackson – said she learned something about herself after the fight. “I can get put on my ass, get up and come back and win,” she said. “Tonight was my night and I have to show the world I’m the greatest of all-time. I showed who I am. Tagad, I’m really dangerous because you can even put me down, and I’ll still come back to win.”

 

 

 

The difference in the fight was Shields’ accuracy, especially in terms of her power shots as she connected on 42 percent compared to Gabriels’ 26 procents.

 

 

 

Shields was asked after the fight when she would like to face Hammer. “Hopefully it’s next,” she said. “I don’t need no rest. I could have whipped her tonight. I’m just so sick of her and her whole team.”

 

 

 

 

 

In a lopsided win in her highly anticipated U.S. debija, Āmurs (23-0, 10 Kos) remained undefeated with a unanimous decision against Tori Nelson (17-2-3, 2 Kos). “I’m very disappointed in my performance tonight,” said an emotional Nelson after the fight. “It’s a loss, of course it’s disappointing. I wasn’t busy enough, I guess.”

 

 

 

In her last fight, Nelson lost a unanimous decision to Shields back in January. “Claressa is better,” Nelson said. “Shields has a jab and uses the ring. Claressa stands there and wants to fight. She has all the punches. Hammer only has one.”

 

 

 

In the telecast opener, Umar Salamov (21-1, 16 Kos) connected on a lethal right hand in knocking out Brian Howard (13-2, 10 Kos) 53 seconds into the ninth round of a scheduled 10-round light heavyweight bout.

 

 

 

Salamov, from Alkhan-Kala, Krievija, was making his United States debut and trains at the famed Kronk Gym in Detroit with Javan “Sugar” Hill Steward. In a fight between two long and lanky fighters, Salamov landed 34 percent of his power punches compared to 27 percent for Howard and was ahead on all three judges’ scorecard at the time of the knockout.

 

 

 

“I was hurt a little bit in the second round from one of his shots, but I didn’t let it bother me because this is my U.S. debija,” said Salamov, a six-year pro who is 24 gadus vecs. “I just kept fighting. After I got hit with that punch, I started coming forward and as soon as I did that, the fight changed.”

 

 

 

Salamov said he knew once he connected on the first right that Howard was hurt. “I knew as soon as I landed the punch that he would be very hurt,"Viņš teica. “I felt it up to my elbow. I didn’t want to hit him after that because I knew he was finished.”

 

 

 

The former cruiserweight Howard had a couple of highlights and was able to effectively land his right hand on several occasions, including one powerful right cross in the seventh round that seemed to stun Salamov.

 

 

 

“I would say I did fair, I did OK,” said Howard, a former minor league football player who lives outside of Atlanta and was making his SHOWTIME debut. “I was fortunate to get the call by Salamov’s team and by SHOWTIME. I’ll be back.”

Ņujorka, NY (Jūnijs 22, 2018)-Raquel Miller kept her prefect record intact with a six-round unanimous decision over Szilvia Szabados in a middleweight bout at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, Ņujorka.

 

 

 

Miller stunned and hurt Szabados throughout the contest. Dzirnavnieks, who was making her New York City debut showed her versatility by featuring a diverse arsenal of punches with both hands.

 

 

 

Miller handled the former world-title challenger with ease as she won by shutout scores of 60-54 par visām kartēm.

 

 

 

Miller wore a ring outfit that paid homage to the movie Black Panther.

 

 

 

The 2012 United States Olympic Alternate, Miller continued her dominance as a professional as her record soared to 6-0.

 

 

 

“I enjoyed myself in there last night and it felt good to be back in action,” said Miller. “I felt strong, and I felt like that I had a solid performance.
