HOUSTON, Texas – Legacy Aliantza Fighting (LFA) CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will feature a welterweight war at the top of LFA 42 when the promotion returns to The Ozarks in June.

Krantz (21-10) captured the inaugural LFA welterweight championship twelve months ago with a performance that is considered the magnum opus of his impressive MMA career. The powerhouse from Texas is always itching for a good old-fashioned fist fight and unloaded his formidable fistolas on Ben Neumann in the main event of LFA 12 to capture his second world title. Two years earlier, Krantz accomplished a nearly identical feat against UFC vet Brock Larson to win the Legacy FC welterweight title. Krantz lost his LFA title via Split Decision in a closely contested bout with former University of Nebraska wrestling standout James Nakashima at LFA 23, but he bounced back with a dominant win over longtime Legacy FC vet Artenas Young in March. The 30-year-old former champ now has his sights set on another fighter who has made a name for himself in Nebraska. That would be the man known as “Killa Kayne”.

 

 

 

Kayne (12-4) is one of the most exciting fighters to hail from the “Cornhusker Estatuko” Nebraska. That is where the proud Nebraskan knocked out highly-touted Hawaiian prospect Maki Pitolo seventeen months ago to win a regional title in his hometown of Omaha. Since that notable night in his career, “Killa Kayne” has taken his talents to the LFA Octagon. The two-time RFA vet made his LFA debut in his home state this past October at LFA 25. He stopped fellow RFA vet Jordon Larson via TKO in a showdown between two of the Midwest’s most popular fighters. Kayne continued his winning ways just two weeks ago, when he scored a quick TKO win over Ivey Nixon in a local show. Now he returns to the LFA Octagon to battle a former LFA champion at a neutral location. Branson, Missouri is the midway point between Kayne’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska and Krantz’s hometown of Marshall, Texas.

Spence and Ocampo were welcomed with personalized Dallas Cowboys jerseys and an appearance from Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at The Star as Spence prepares to make his first hometown world title defense. He last fought in Dallas in November 2015 but will now have a chance to excite his hometown fans in the first boxing event to take place inside Ford Center.

Spence (23-0, 20 Kos) returned home with the welterweight title last May after defeating champion Kell Brook in Brook’s hometown of Sheffield, Ingalaterra. The 28-year-old southpaw from Desoto, Texas made his first defense against former two-division champion Lamont Peterson, stopping him via seventh round technical knockout on Jan. 20 Brooklyn.

 

 

 

A 2012 U.S. Olympian at the London Games, Spence has knocked out 10 straight opponents to climb the ranks of the division. The 22-year-old Ocampo (22-0, 13 Kos) will be taking a major step forward in his career with this mandatory title challenge against Spence. Ocampo, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico will be making his U.S. debut and fighting professionally outside of Mexico for the first time. Ocampo is a two-time silver medalist at the Mexican Olympiad, an amateur national championship tournament. His holds significant professional victories over former world title challengers Jorge Paez, Jr.. and Charlie Navarro while he most recently scored a seventh round stoppage of Dario Ferman in November.

(April 28, 2018) – Rugged veteran contender Josesito Lopez (36-7, 19 Kos) won a unanimous decision over Miguel Cruz (17-1, 11 Kos)in a welterweight attraction that headlined Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes Saturday night from Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

 

 

 

 

“I beat a great undefeated fighter tonight and I was able to out class him,” Said Lopez. “I have some boxing ability clearly. I used my skills tonight. I felt that I dominated the pace, out worked him and I never let him do anything that hurt me.”

 

 

 

 

“Josesito was stronger than I thought,” said Cruz. “I took a little too long to get off and get going and it cost me.”

 

 

 

 

The action began to heat up in round three as Lopez broke through and began landing flush on Cruz to the head. Lopez controlled the action against Cruz on the ropes and when the real estate shifted to the middle of the ring.

 

 

 

 

Cross, who stated before the fight that attacking the body would be key, was twice deducted points by referee Rafael Ramos for low blows, once in round five and again in round six. This forced Cruz to abandon his predominant strategy.

 

 

 

 

“I didn’t agree with the calls on the low blows,” said Cruz. “I didn’t get a chance to work the body like I wanted. That was the plan coming in. They took it away from me.

 

 

 

 

“This is just another step in my journey. I didn’t get hurt or anything. I just need to get better in the gym and keep working combinations. I just have to get better.”

 

 

 

 

Under the guidance of renowned trainer Robert Garcia, Lopez boxed effectively and worked through the body attack and low blows to consistently win rounds and keep Cruz’s offense mostly at bay. Ondoren 10 erronda, judges ruled in favor of Lopez by scores of 98-90 eta 99-89 bitan.

 

 

 

 

“I think the biggest difference has been Robert Garcia in my corner,” Said Lopez. “He has me living a healthier lifestyle and that played a big part in my victory. I have an elite trainer who is training me like an elite fighter. I was one step behind in the past, but now I think I’ve made up that distance and then some.

 

 

 

 

“Welterweight has a lot of good fighters, but I know I can compete with them. I’m a fan-friendly fighter who’s always going to leave it all in the ring.”

 

 

 

 

The co-main event saw former world champion Anthony Dirrell (32-1, 24 Kos) drop El Paso’s Abraham Han (26-4, 16 Kos) on his way to a unanimous decision in their 10-round super middleweight contest.

 

 

 

 

 

“I thought I did well tonight boxing him for 10 erronda,” Said Dirrell. “I didn’t think I lost a round. Two of the judges thought so but I can’t do anything about that. Zer nintzen ustezko egin egin nuen.

Greeted by a chorus of boos upon entering the ring, Dirrell sent the hometown fighter to the canvas with a right hand to the head late in round one as the bell rang. Han tried to use his movement, switching stances and tying Dirrell up to frustrate his opponent, and had some success as the two men wrestled each other to the canvas in the waning moments of round four and continued to push and shove on the ground until they were broken up by referee Laurence and sent to their corners.

 

 

 

 

Han was able to occasionally land clean punches, but nothing that ever disrupted the attack from Dirrell, who was too consistent and sharp with his power punches. Han believed that his lack of an effective jab hurt him in this fight.

 

 

 

 

“I wasn’t happy with my performance,” said Han. “I couldn’t get my jab going at all. If I had been more effective with that I think I would have been able to win more rounds.”

 

 

 

 

Ondoren 10 rounds of action, all three judges score the bout in favor of Dirrell by scores of 100-89 eta 99-90 bitan. Dirrell, a former titleholder at 168-pounds vowed that he plans to fight one more time, for a world title.

 

 

 

 

“The champions at 168-pounds better look out,” Said Dirrell. “It’s going to be my last fight but I’m hungry to win another title.”

 

 

 

 

The opening bout of the telecast saw exciting featherweight contender Claudio Marrero (23-2, 16 Kos) deliver a stunning one punch knockout of Jorge Lara (29-1-2, 21 Kos) in the first round of their featherweight bout.

 

 

 

 

“I knew he would be aggressive and we worked very hard in training camp to achieve this,” said Marrero. “I saw my opportunity and I knew that it was over once I connected.”

Lara charged forward in the opening seconds, but was caught by a perfect left hook from Marrero during one of the early exchanges in the fight and was sent to the canvas. While he tried to get to his feet, he was clearly hurt as referee Rocky Burke halted the bout 33 seconds into the opening round.

MINNEAPOLIS (April 14, 2018) – Welterweight contender Jamal James (23-1, 10 Kos) earned a hard fought majority decision over Abel Ramos (18-3-2, 13 Kos) in front of his hometown fans Friday night in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 eta FOX Sports Minneapoliseko Armeriatik.

 

 

 

“It feels so great to get this win in Minneapolis in front of all of my people here,” esan zuen Jamesek, “Ramos was a tough opponent who gave me a great challenge, but I was able to keep my composure and give the fans a win.”

 

 

 

James used his 6-foot-2 frame and reach advantage to beat Ramos to the punch in round one, but was clipped in round two by a left hook from the game Ramos that had the local favorite in temporary trouble and on the defensive.

 

 

 

The Minneapolis-native was able to regain his composure and return to the offensive as he poured right hands behind a strong jab along with movement that made it difficult for Ramos to land cleanly. Ramos continued to charge forward however, emphasizing body shots that slowed James down and allowed him to win rounds.

 

 

 

“I had to dig down tonight but I think it was a good fight for me to grind out,” esan zuen Jamesek. “I’m going to keep getting better and I hope to have a chance to display my talents at home again. I know if I keep working, I’m going to get a chance to prove myself against the best out there.”

 

 

 

James was able to send the hometown fans happy after 10 erronda, with judges giving him the majority decision by scores of 95-95 eta 96-94 bitan.

 

 

 

The telecast also featured a spirited 10-round lightweight clash that saw Edner Cherry (37-7-2, 19 Kos)earn a close but unanimous decision over Dennis Galarza(16-3, 9 Kos).

 

 

 

Galarza controlled the early action with his jab and a powerful right hand that appeared to have Cherry stunned in the first round. His length advantage was key until Cherry was able to establish position on the inside.

 

 

 

Cherry began to land several powerful shots on Galarza with both hands in the middle rounds, backing Galarza up and taking away much of power on his shots. Galarza tried to back off and box Cherry more down the stretch, but was unable to avoid the oncoming Cherry as often as he needed.

 

 

 

Ondoren 10 rounds all three judges favored the work of Cherry by scores of 97-93 eta 96-94 bitan.

 

 

 

In a battle of unbeaten prospects, Chris Colbert (8-0, 2 Kos) scored a TKO victory over Austin Dulay (11-1, 8 Kos)after seven rounds of lightweight action.

 

 

 

Colbert was first to the punch from the outset, landing straight right hands cleanly before flummoxing Dulay by switching to the southpaw stance. Colbert scored a knockdown in round six with a combo punctuated by a powerful body shot. After a dominant seventh round, referee Mark Nelson stopped the fight after checking on Dulay in his corner.

 

 

 

Additional action saw 6-foot-6 unbeaten prospect Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fondora (9-0, 5 Kos) stop previously unbeaten Veshawn Owens (9-1, 9 Kos)at 2:27 of the fifth round of their super welterweight fight and 17-year-old former amateur standout Joey Spencer (2-0, 2 Kos)deliver a dominant TKO 51 seconds into the first round against Ousmane Sylla (1–3-1, 1 KO) in a super welterweight contest.
