WBO News – Headline Matches For This Weekend

Die World Boxing Organization (WBO-) will oversee seven headline bouts around the world this weekend, two of which are for world titles.

 

 

 

Starting Friday, Juni 8, in Verona, New York, WBO number one ranked Junior Featherweight Diego De La Hoya (20-0, 9 KOs) will defend his NABO 122 lbs title against José “Zucker” Salgado (35-4-2, 28 KOs) in a 10-round duel. The bout is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and will go on stage at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in the aforementioned city.

 

 

 

The fight will be televised live on ESPN3, ab 9:00 p.m. (Osterzeit). ESPN2 will air the fights at 12:30 a.m. ET / 9:30 p.m. PT. and ESPN Deportes will air the fights the following day at 9:00 p.m. UND / 6:00 p.m. PT.

 

 

 

De La Hoya-Salgado will take place during the International Boxing Hall of Fame induction weekend, where “Dr. Ironfist” Vitali Klitschko, Erik “El Terrible” Moráles, and Ronald “Winky” Wright will be exalted, along with other important boxing figures such as Peter Kohl, Steve Albert, Jim Gray and Lorraine Chargin.

 

 

 

Am Samstag, Juni 9 in Argentinien, Facundo Galovar (10-2-1, 7 KOs), of Tucumán, and Rolando Mansilla (13-5-1, 5 KOs), of Entre Ríos, will face off for the vacant WBO Latino Super Middleweight belt in a scheduled 10 Runden-Kampf. The card will take place at the Club Atlético Central Córdoba in San Miguel, as part of an event promoted by Argentina Boxing Promotions.

 

 

 

Also on Saturday, but in the Philippines, two WBO Jr. Featherweight title bouts will take place, when local pugilist Jeo “Santino” Santisima (15-2, 13 KOs) faces Likit Chane (16-6, 10 KOs), from Thailand, for the vacant WBO Oriental 122 lbs belt, and local Albert Pagara (29-1, 20 KOs), der auf Platz Nr wird. 9 von der WBO, battles Laryea Gabriel Odoi (20-3-2, 14 KOs), Ghana, for the vacant Inter-Continental Junior Featherweight title. Both fights are scheduled for 12 rounds in an event promoted by ALA Promotions at the Maasin City Complex.

 

 

 

In England, the former WBO Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan (33-0, 13 KOs), aus Manchester, will seek to reign in a second division, when he clashes with Texan Maurice Hooker (23-0-3, 16KOs) for the vacant WBO Junior Welterweight crown. The duel will be the main event of a card presented by Queensberry Promotions. The fight will be held at Manchester Arena. Flanagan and Hooker are ranked in the first and second positions, beziehungsweise, at the Junior Welterweight division.

 

 

 

During his reign in the Lightweight division, Flanagan successfully defended the title five times.

 

 

 

The fight will be televised by BT Sports, on Showtime Boxing’s Facebook page, as well as in Showtime Sports’ YouTube Channel and Panama Cable Onda Sports beginning at4:30 p.m. UND / 1:30 p.m. PT.

 

 

 

Another WBO world title fight will be staged this Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hier, welterweight campion Jeff Horn, Australiens, will face WBO Super Champion and former Lighweight and Junior Welterweight champion Terence Crawford, von Omaha, Nebraska.

 

 

 

For Horn (18-0-1, 12 KOs), it will be the second defense of the title he won by beating legendary WBO Super Champion, Manny Pacquiao.

 

 

 

With a victory over Horn, Crawford (32-0-0, 23 KOs) would join Oscar De La Hoya (130 lbs, 135 lbs, 160 lbs), Miguel Cotto (140 lbs, 147 lbs, 154 lbs), Jorge Arce (108 lbs, 115 lbs, 122 lbs) and Fernando Montiel (112 lbs, 115 lbs, 118 lbs) as the only three divisions champions of the entity.

 

 

 

Auch auf der Karte, WBO Latino Lightweight Champion and ranked No. 5 by this sanctioning body, Antonio Moran (23-2, 16KOs), aus Mexiko, is heading for his second title defense, when he faces former Jr. Lightweight Champion, and WBO 14th ranked Jose “Sniper” Pedraza (23-1, 12KOs), von Puerto Rico, in scheduled 10 round match.

WBO #12-rated Buitrago (30-3-1, 17 KOs) has had four unsuccessful title challenges, losing three times, along with one draw. He was stopped for the first time in his last fight this past December, by undefeated International Boxing Federation (IBF) Minimumweight World Champion Hiroto Kyoguchi (8-0), in the eighth round of their title fight in Japan.

 

 

 

All three of (Bild nach links) Buitrago’s career losses have been to world champions, including a pair to Thammanooon Niyomtrong (11-0) in 2016 und 2014, both by way of 12-round unanimous decisions in Thailand for the Interim WBA title. He is a raw boxer who relies only on the strength of his blows. I don’t believe that he will bring anything new into the ring and if they change him, the only thing that will accomplish is confuse him. I’m always emphasising my preparation. I’m coming in smart because I’m bringing the ability to work round for round. My only objective is to bring the world championship to Nicaragua.

Australien, Truthahn, Japan and England to host WBO bouts

Die World Boxing Organization (WBO-), chaired by Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, will have seven fights in different parts of the world this upcoming weekend.

 

Samstag, Mai 19:

 

In Australien, there will be a duel of unbeatens when the popular Australian Liam Paro (13-0, 9 KO) faces Sebastian Bytyqi (11-0-1, 8 KO) of the Czech Republic for the vacant WBO Youth Jr. Welterweight title. In Turkey, from the Spor Salonu in Trabzon, former world champion and WBO #2 Firat Arslan (47-8-2, 26 KO) will face Isaac Paa Kwesi Ankrah (14-7, 12 KO) of Ghana in a 10 round bout for the WBO Inter-Continental Jr. Heavyweight belt. Ehemaliger Olympiateilnehmer, current WBO junior welterweight European champion and #12 Platz, Fatih Keles (10-0-1, 5 KO) der Türkei, will be making the third defense of his title against Russian Maxim Churbanov (8-3-1) and former Olympian Ali Eren Demirezen (8-0-0) will defend his WBO European Heavyweight Title against Georgia’s Tornike Puritchamiashvili (11-8-0, 7 KO).

 

In England, WBO Inter-Continental Junior Welterweight title holder and 4th ranked Jack Catterall (20-0, 11 KO) will be making his seventh title defense against Frenchman Christopher Sebire (26-10-1, 9 KO). Dann, in duel of Englishmen, Darren Tetley (15-0, 6 KO) will face Mason Cartwright (13-0-1, 5 KO) for the vacant WBO welterweight European belt. The fight venue is the Elland Road Football Ground in Leeds.

The boxing movement of WBO regional titles continues, and will take place in Japan, where the WBO Asia-Pacific lightweight champion and #2 ranked Nihito Arakawa (31-6-1, 18 KO) will put his title on the line against Filipino, Rimar Metuda (12-3, 7 KO) in a bout that’ll take place in the Ota-City General Gymnasium.

 

“We are very active all around the world. We are extending our organization so that the best fighters represent the WBO. Several of the fighters who will see action this weekend are close to going for a world title. Arakawa, Catterall, Arslan, Demirezen and Keles are very well ranked. Building his own legacy in a traditionally rich, hot-bed for boxing like Puerto Rico, Acosta (17-1, 17 KOs) captured the vacant WBO title last December at famed Madison Square Garden, als er klopfte Juan Alejo (24-4-1), von Mexiko, in der 10th Runde.

Deutschland, United States and Latvia Play Host to WBO Bouts

Die World Boxing Organization (WBO-), chaired by Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Mai 12.

 

 

 

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 KO), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 KO). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. UND.

 

 

 

“We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. It’s going to be a classic fight of puncher against a boxer. If Munguía wins, he would be placed on a select list of great Mexican boxers who have been world champions at or before 21 years of age”, said Valcárcel.

 

 

 

In Augsburg, Deutschland, women’s boxing takes the stage when the popular former world champion Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 KO) of Germany and the world contender Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 KO) of Belgium, face each other for the vacant WBO world belt of the super middleweight division. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

 

 

 

“We remain committed and supportive of women’s boxing. Germany is no exception. This great fight has the community looking on because there is a world title at stake and the fight will be liked by the public”, said Valcárcel.

 

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 KO) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 KO) of Miass, Russland.

 

 

 

Auch, the WBO International Lightweight Champion and 5th ranked Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 KO) of Nazran, Russland, will defend his title against the strong Venezuelan puncher, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 KO).

 

 

 

For the vacant middleweight WBO International belt, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 KO) from Russia, will face against Argentina’s Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 KO).

Lenin Castillo schnappt sich WBO-Gold in Ponce, Puerto Rico

Ponce, Puerto Rico – Former Dominican Olympian Lenin Castillo (18-1-1, 13 KO) won the WBO/NABO vacant light heavyweight title in impressive fashion. Castillo defeated Aaron “Homicide” Mitchell (27-3-1, 21 KO) of Florida by way of technical knockout in the 10th and final round.

 

 

 

 

As a result of the victory, Castillo will now be ranked among the best 175 pound fighters in the WBO.

 

 

 

 

The fight was televised by DIRECTV PR as part of a card promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions at the Complejo Ferial, Ponce, PR.

 

 

 

 

“I am very grateful to my manager Raúl Pastrana from Spartan Boxing Club, Miguel Cotto Promotions and the WBO for making this fight possible with an important title at stake that will place me among the best fighters of my weight,” Said Castillo, “This victory is for my Dominican people, mein Vater, my mom and also for the Puerto Ricans who made me feel at home since I arrived on the island for the fight”.

Spartan Boxing Club Präsident Raul Pastrana erklärt, dass “Wir planen bereits Castillo anziehen April 7 Karte in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Wo Angel Acosta wird seinen WBO-WM-Titel verteidigen, und wir sind derzeit in dem Prozess der Suche nach einem Qualität Gegner zusammen mit einem regionalen Titel zu Rang Castillo in dem oberen Teil, um einen größeren Kampf bis zum Ende des Jahres zu bekommen“.

NEW YORK - Januar 11, 2018 - Combate Americas gab heute die Unterzeichnung von fünf Division Boxweltmeister, World Boxing Organization einschließlich amtierende (WBO-) Bantamgewicht (118 Pfund) Champion, Amanda „The Real Deal“ Serrano (Boxen: 34-1-1, 26 KO; MMA: 0-0) eine exklusive, mehrjährige Promotion-Vereinbarung.

Lesen, PA (Dezember 27, 2017) – Königs Promotions freut sich, die Unterzeichnung des ehemaligen WM-Herausforderer José ankündigen “Chelo” González zu einem Promotion-Vertrag.
González, 34 von Toa Baja, Puerto Rico hat einen Rekord von 24-2 mit 19 Knockouts.
González gewann sein erstes 19 Kämpfe mit Siegen über Osenohan Vázquez (1-0), Eric Cruz (5-1-2), Hector Marengo (5-0-4) & Edgardo Soto (12-2).
Juni 3, 2011, González gewann den WBO-Latino-Titel Lightweight mit einem sechsten Runde Stillstand über Gerardo Cuevas.
González fünf erfolgreiche Verteidigung vor Leichtbau-Weltmeister Ricky Burns auf Mai WBO herausfordernd 11, 2013.
