Las Vegas, Nevada — LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will make its second trip to the capital city of Brazil in July with a Championship Headliner at LFA 212. The main event will feature an interim flyweight title fight between two of South America’s most decorated prospects. This interim title defense became necessary as the promotion awaits the status of its sitting champion Eduardo Chapolin, who is currently competing on the UFC’s thirty-third season of The Ultimate Fighter.

This will be the twenty-third LFA event to take place in Brazil and it will celebrate the promotion’s international expansion that began four summer’s ago. LFA 212 will take place in the Federal District, which makes it the third LFA event to take place in the Central-West Region of Brazil. LFA has also visited the Brazilian states of Rio de JaneiroSão Paulo, Pernambuco, and Mato Grosso.

LFA 212: Degli vs. Miguel, presented byI-Monster Energytakes place Friday, July 11th in Brasília, Federal District, Brazil. The main event will feature an interim flyweight title fight when interim champion MarcosTailandês” Degli defends his title against top contender Oscar Miguel. The entire main card will be available worldwide onUFC IMPI PASS®  at 8 p.m. KANYE / 5 p.m. PT.

We are excited to bring the LFA Interim Flyweight Championship to the capital city of Brazil,” stated Soares. The LFA began its international expansion in July of 2021. We have since hosted 22 events in Brazil in the states of Rio de JaneiroSão Paulo, Pernambuco, and Mato Grosso as well as the Federal District. LFA 212 will be our second event in the nation’s capital city of Brasília and we will celebrate our 4-year-anniversary in the country with a title fight. What makes this title fight even more exciting is the fact that it features two of South America’s most decorated prospects. Marcos Degli(Brazil) and Oscar Miguel (Peru) will also rekindle a Brazil vs. Latin America fight tradition that started in the LFA last July.”

Degli (12-3) started his year in February by becoming the LFA’s fourteenth flyweight champion. He did this by defeating fellow top prospect Lincon Santos in the co-main event of LFA 201. The crowning moment came when Degli landed a beautiful Left Hook to knock out the fellow Brazilian National Muay Thai champion in the second round of their interim flyweight title fight. The interim title shot became available to Degli after the LFA’s sitting flyweight champion Eduardo Chapolin was cast to compete on the UFC’s thirty-third season of The Ultimate Fighter. Degli’s win over Santos ran his LFA record to 4-0 and earned him a gold belt to go along with his BJJ black belt. Nokho, instead of waiting on Chapolin, Degli jumped at the opportunity to defend his interim title much like LFA great Charles Johnson did four summer’s ago.

Degli was also eager to face the biggest challenge in his division, who happens to reside on the other side of his continent. That would be none other than Peruvian kingpin Oscar Miguel. Degli vs. Miguel also rekindles the Brazil vs. Latin America rivalry that began last July at LFA 187, when the LFA hosted a team challenge between the two most dominant factions of MMA talent in the southern hemisphere.

Miguel (14-1) is one of the most beloved fighters to hail from theLand of Incas”. Peru has in fact experienced its Golden Era in MMA over the past few years with Claudio Puelles, Daniel Marcos, Jose Ochoa, Kevin Borjas, Luis Pajuelo, Rolando Bedoya, Jesus Pinedo, James Llontop, and Enrique Barzola all reaching the pinnacle of the sport by competing in the UFC. That success has also carried over to the LFA Octagon, where both Rodrigo Vera and Abraham Racho just won their LFA debuts impressively at LFA 209. Miguel will now become just the second Peruvian fighter to fight for an LFA title and to headline an LFA event after his countrywoman Sandra Lavado became the first to accomplish both these feats two summers ago at LFA 164. Nokho, Miguel will be looking to become the first to bring LFA gold back home to Peru.

Potential Instant Classics in World Cup Boxing Series “4-Man Lightweight Tournament” semifinals

POSTER.jpg
Las Vegas (January 27, 2022) The semifinals of the World Cup Boxing Series’ (I-WCBS) inaugural “4-Man Lightweight Tournament,” presented by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions, has the potential to have two instant classics on February 24th.

All the Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing-promoted action will be streamed on UFC FIGHT PASS®, Isevisi yokubhalisela ehamba phambili emhlabeni ye-Combat Sports, live and exclusively from Palenque De La Expo in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. Ukubhalisa nge-UFC Fight Pass, sicela uvakashele www.ufcfightpass.com.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) has sanctioned the WCBS’ “4-Man lightweight Tournament,” created by CEO Terry Hollan and matchmaker Guy Taylor, and the winner will be crowned the WBC Latino Lightweight Champion, as well as positioned in the WBC’s top 15 ratings.

The WCBS “4-Man Tournament” semifinals matchups are Luis “Koreano” Torres (14-0, 9 Kos) vs. Rodolfo “Rudy” Flores (14-5, 6 Kos), Isai “Gaga” Hernandez (11-2-2, 7 Kos) vs. Irving “Poderoso” Castillo (11-2, 7 Kos).

Semifinal’s action will be contested in 8-round bouts, 10 rounds for the championship final. The WCBS will also feature one “overtime” round, uma kudingeka, to declare a winner in the event of a draw upon the conclusion of the scheduled distance.

WCBS will also be offering a “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout” bonuses to each contestant through the duration of its “4-Man Lightweight Tournament.”

The 20-year-old Torres, a former WBC Youth Silver lightweight champion, is the No. 1 seed and pre-tournament favorite who will be fighting at home.

“I am very happy about this opportunity,” Torres said. “Thank you to the WCBS, WBC, RJJ Boxing and UFC FIGHT PASS for making this possible. Muhle (Flowers) a tough, good boxer who likes to fight at a distance if he can. Nothing I haven’t seen before.

“My style is to attack at all times. I love to go for the knockout and give fans what they want to see. My fights will always go my way. Attacking from the very beginning, I hope he stands and throws with me as he says. Either way I’m coming after him. I predict pain for him and a knockout win for me before round 5.”

The 26-year-old Flores has impressive victories against Jesus Acosta Zazueta (16-5-2) and Jairo Lopez (18-5).

“It’s very important for me to be fighting in this tournament,” Flores noted. “I want to thank the WCBS and WBC for the opportunity to be part of their tournament. I know my opponent is a southpaw, but I really don’t care to know much about him. He has very good skills but that doesn’t bother me at all.

“I like to box on the outside, keep my distance, and control the pace. I think this fight is going to be a war! I am very excited for this match-up and I hope Torres is ready for a fight. I will win this fight by decision.”

Also scheduled to be streamed on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS are a pair of additional lightweight bouts.

Venezuelan knockout artist Fradimil Macayo (15-1, 13 Kos) faces unbeaten Mexican fighter Armando Ramirez (5-0-1,2 Kos) in an 8-round bout.

Undefeated 19-year-old prospect Jorge “Jorgito” Cota (6-0, 4 Kos), the youngest in the famed Mexican fightin’ Montiel family, led by his grandfather Fernando Montiel, meets Guatemalan challenger Rene “Kampana” de Leon Mazariegos (7-3, 4 Kos), in a scheduled 6-rounder.

(This is the first story in a short “Fantasy Fights” series about boxers who fought in 2021 on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS cards to be matched next year in potentially explosive fights on the same platform.)

Las Vegas (November 16,  2021) – Arguably Mexico’s No. 1 welterweight, Santiago “Somer” Dominguez (25-0, 19 Kos), against Michael “Boy Wonder 150%” Williams, Jr. (19-0, 12 Kos) is the first RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS’s “Fantasy Fights” potential showdown for the same live streaming platform in 2022.

UFC FIGHT PASS® is the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports, on which RJJ Boxing has streamed live and exclusively for the past three years. To sign up for UFC FIGHT PASS, sicela uvakashelewww.ufcfightpass.com.

“Throughout the long, rich history of boxing,” veteran RJJ Boxing matchmaker Guy Taylor explained the genesis of ‘Fantasy Fights,’ “fans have always asked, ‘What would happen if these two ever fought each other.’ You couldn’t ask for a more polar opposite match-up than Santiago Dominguez and Michael Williams, Jr.”

Dominguez vs. Williams, Jr. is a classic contrast of styles, featuring a pair of gifted, undefeated welterweights seemingly on the verge of stardom.

RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS has helped boxers develop their skills in highly competitive matches, in addition to providing invaluable exposure worldwide, kusukela 2019 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The heavy-handed Dominguez, who is a former NABF Welterweight Champion and past No. 15-rated in the world, stopped former WBA World title challenger Jesus “Chino” Antonio Rubio (13-4, 7 Kos) for the vacant WBC Latino strap in the October 15th main event in Mexico. It was Dominguez’ only fight in nearly a year because he needed to give his body a break. Dominguez improved to 5-0 (4 Kos) fighting career-wise on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS.

The 22-year-old Williams, fighting out of Fayetteville, North Carolina, is trained by living legend Roy Jones, Jr. Last March in Biloxi, Mississippi, Williams defeated Starr Johnson, who couldn’t continue after the opening round. Williams improved to 2-0 (2 Kos) on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS.

“Santiago is a throwback Mexican fighter, who stands 5’ 8” and was born in Ciudad Obregon Sonora, Mexico, just like his hero, the great Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr.,” Taylor added. “Williams, Jr. is a flashy, fast-footed boxer with lightning-quick hands who stands 6’ 1”. To put that in context for a welterweight, Michael is the same height as Hall of Famer Thomas ‘Hitman’ Hearns. Williams is also trained by arguably the greatest all-around fighter, Roy Jones. Jr.”

“This is a fight that can easily be made given the status of both fighters from RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS. I truly feel that, stylistically, there is no better match-up in 2022 than an undefeated, power-punching Mexican against an undefeated, slick, counter puncher from the United States. And they are both approaching their prime.”
