Toro Promotions, ינק. Flexing its Heavyweight Muscles Around the Boxing World

לאס אנדזשעלעס (אַפּריל 3, 2025) – Toro Promotions, ינק. has built a powerhouse stable of heavyweights that is making noise all around the boxing world.

“When I see the same old, tired heavyweight names being run up the flagpole, over and over again, I just laugh,” United States matchmaker Whit Haydon said. “This group of heavyweights not only fits in on the world scene and is more capable of filling obvious void in talent, but will also inject badly needed life into what is for the most part stale.”

Last week in Saudi Arabia, the one-two punch of Tostne “Mr. T” Rogava (11-0, 8 קאָס) and Dante Stone (18-1, 12 קאָס) both registered knockouts in the preliminary round of the inaugural Rydah Season/WBC Boxing Grand Prix.

Tostne, a Ukraine Olympian born in Georgia, used a devastating body attack to stop his Australian opponent, Lewis Clarke (6-2, 3 קאָס), with a body shot at the 2:32 mark of the opening round, while Stone (18-1, 12), fighting out of Chandler, אַריזאָנאַ, extended his win streak to 18 with a second-round knockout of Indalesio Teran (3-1-1, 1 קאָ), of Mexico.

Tostne and Stone advanced to the round of 16 אין יוני.

The single-elimination tournament is being streamed live exclusively onwww.dazn.com/wbcIt started with a total of 128 fighters in four weight classes – פעאַטהערוועיגהט, יבער לייטווייט, מידדלעוועיגהט, און כעוויווייט.

All fighters are subjected to random drug testing in compliance with the WBC’s Clean Boxing Program, as well as Riyadh Season’s commitment to VADA testing.

The opening round of 32 matches had scheduled six-round bouts, which will increase to eight for the final rounds in each division, and participating fighters represent more than 40 countries from around the world/ In addition to the $200,000 winner’s purse, the four divisional winners will receive the Jose Sulaimán Trophy, named after the late WBC President Jose Sulaimán, who first envisioned a prospect-based Boxing Grand Prix more than a decade ago.

There is open scoring after the second and fourth rounds, a buzzer sounds 30 seconds prior to the end of each round, instant replay may be implemented, and no draws are guaranteed.

דערווייַל, the much-avoided Nigeria-born Kingsley “The Black Lion” Ibeh (15-2-1, 13 קאָס), fighting out of Phoenix, is riding a 10-fight win streak. The 6’ 4″, 285-pound former college (Washington University (Topeka, קס) and professional football player (Canadian Football League) is preparing to fight again in June.

Alexander “The Great” Flores (19-5-1, 17 קאָס), of Rowland Heights, קאַליפאָרניאַ, has lost only to three world championsJoseph Parker, טשאַרלעס מארטין, and Luis Ortiz – in addition to Rogava and Stone. Flores returned earlier this month to the one-round Team Combat League as a member of the Nashville Smash, unloading a sensational left hook on the chin that put Alex Ajabor to sleep at the 1:18 צייכן.

Although another undefeated heavyweight, Gurgen “Big Gug” Hovhannisyan (8-0, 7 קאָס), isn’t promoted by Toro, he is managed by Vartan Torosyan, who also manages Rogava, and his brother is Toro’s promoter, Azat Torosyan. The 6’ 7”, 300-pound Armenian boxer knocked out Dajuan Calloway (11-3) in the fifth round this past weekend. Hall of Famer Joe Goossen trains Hovhannisyan and Rogava.

TACOMA, וואַשן. (אָקטאָבער 20, 2024) – Nigerian heavyweight Kingsley Black Lion” Ibeh (14-2-1, 12 קאָס) turned in the best performance of his pro career in the main event of last night’s “EQC Fight Night,” card presented by Toro Promotions, ינק, and Whitfield Haydon Boxing, in the EQC Event Center at the famed Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, וואַשינגטאָן.

In a Clash of the Titans, the 6’ 4”, 273-pound Ibeh only needed 49 seconds to stop 6’ 8”, 257-pound Jack “The Outlaw” May (10-1, 9 קאָס) צו כאַפּן די ליידיק וועלט באָקסינג קאָונסיל (וובק) Latino Silver Championship.

The crowd of 2,000, which sold-out one week in advance, was electrified by the main event, in which there was no “feeling out” as Ibeh and May traded bombs from the opening bell. Suddenly, כאָטש, Ibeh landed a powerful left cross on May, who was up against the ropes, and “The Outlaw” went down hard, severely knocked at the 59-seconds mark of the opening round.

Ibeh, fighting out of Phoenix, weighed 7-pounds less than for his last fight, 16 fewer than he weighed four fights ago as the former professional football player in Canada won his ninth fight in a row.

“The Black Lion” is the cousin of the retired former heavyweight Ike Ibeabuchi.

אין די גלויבנס-ארויסגעשטעלטע געשעעניש, hometown favorite Marquice Weston (16-4-1, 9 קאָס) registered a first-round stoppage of heavyweight John Shipman (5-8, 2 קאָס) by way of a vicious body shot. It was Weston’s first victory in six years.

Haitian-born lightweight Nesley Trezile (1-1) notched his first pro win in a mild upset with a four-round majority decision over local fighter Agustin Tovar (2-1, 0 קאָס). Trezile fights out of Los Angeles.

There was almost a major upset as Antonio Louis “Tswervo” Hernandez (7-19-4, 4 קאָס) gave Juan “Just Business” Barajas (11-0-2, 7 קאָס) everything he could handle in their six-round match.

Hernandez landed clean shots on Barajas, who was coming off a 4-year layoff. Barajas closed the fight strongly, but it wasn’t enough as the judges scored the fight a majority draw.

Illinois junior welterweight Quinn McKenna (1-0-1, 0 קאָס) won his first fight as a pro, taking a four-round unanimous decision from Clayton Hibbert (2-3, 2 קאָס). Both fighters were hurt in round three as they opened up offensively, leaving both seemingly out on their feet. McKenna, אָבער, was the fresher fighter in the fourth and final round. He had Hibbert on the run to earn his initial victory.

Russian lightweight Samvel Gandilyan (5-0-1, 3 קאָס) kept his unbeaten pro record intact with a fourth-round knockout of a game Ezera Rabin.

Toro Promotions signs Undefeated Austin BrooksBrooks goes from homeless to Super Featherweight prospect – ברוקס ווס. Avagyan headlines June 15 at famed Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA

Brooks posed.jpg

לאס אנדזשעלעס (מייַ 30, 2024) – Toro Promotions, ינק. has signed undefeated Austin Brooks (12-0, 5 קאָס), the reigning World Boxing Association (וובאַ) Continental USA Super Featherweight Champion, צו אַ ויסשליסיק פּערמאָושאַנאַל אָפּמאַך.

ברוקס, 28, has traveled on a particularly rough journey through the years, overcoming many obstacles, including homelessness, to become a legitimate boxing prospect.

“I felt that Toro treated me the best and showed me the most respect of any promoter,” Brooks explained why he signed with Toro. “I needed to sign with a promoter to get my career going. It’s tough being a free agent. Toro believes in me like I do, others didn’t. Signing with Toro is a good choice for me.”

“Both Toro Promotions and Sheer Sports management see Austin Brooks as the embodiment of the American Dream,” Toro Promotions president Azat Torosyan commented. “We are in agreement that he has been overlooked and is capable of accomplishing tremendous things in the sport and we will stop at nothing to help him in his quest.”

Born in Idaho, Brooks lived in multiple cities in five different states, but now he’s happy to be settled down living in San Diego.

“I was raised by a single parent, and she did her best, but we had a lot of ups and downs,” Brooks explained. “It made me tougher; moving from school to school, I had my fair share of fights. I lived out of my car and in foster homes, but I wouldn’t change anything. Looking back, it made me who I am. and the love of this sport pulled me through because I felt it could help me be somebody. I’ve had a lot of good experiences and met a lot of good people.”

Brooks watches a lot of fights, particularly old-school classics, and the first boxer that he picked things up from was Roy Jones, קינג, along with James Toney and Pernell Whitaker. His goals include positioning himself for a world title shot in late 2025, early 2026.

Trained by Basheer Abdullah, Brooks is managed by Sheer Sports, a highly respected management group specializing in boxing.

ברוקס, 28, defends his super featherweight title on June 15headlining “EQC Fight Night,” presented by Toro Promotions, ינק. in association with Whitfield Boxing, at the famed Emerald Queen Casino (EQC) אין טאַקאָמאַ, וואַשינגטאָן.

Brooks captured his World Boxing Association (וובאַ) Continental USA belt in his last fight when he knocked out previously unbeaten Cuban boxer Jose Manuel Izaguirre (7-0. 3 קאָס) in the seventh round this past February 10טה in Long Beach, קאַליפאָרניאַ. ברוקס, a southpaw, has fought only once at EQC, which ended in a six-round technical knockout of Anthony Chavez (11-3-1) אויף אויגוסט 26, 2023.

In his Toro debut on June 15th, Brooks will make his first title defense against 2015 Armenian Olympian Aram “Warrior” Avagyan (11-1-2, 5 קאָס) אין די 10-קייַלעכיק הויפּט געשעעניש.

"ער (Avagyan) will be my best opponent so far,” Brooks noted. “He’s tough and experienced. I treat every fight as just my next fight and treat all my opponents the same. רעכט איצט, I’m focused 100-percent on doing what I should to be great.”
