Webster is promoted by GH3 Promotions and Greg Cohen Promotions.
Webster wa Glassboro, New Jersey ali ndi mbiri 18-0 ndi 9 knockouts and has not been sitting idle during the six months he has not been in the ring.
“Maphunziro akhala chachikulu. We had some dates moved on us, so we stayed at home for camp. We used a lot of different sparring partners and I have a new strength and conditioning coach. I did a lot of new things such as running the bleachers, some great ab work as well, ” said Webster.
Webster has been no stranger to layoffs as guys are not running fast to face the 6’4inch southpaw who has displayed good boxing ability and power.
It frustrates me but I have been dealing with it my whole career. I know I should be a lot further along but now I have promoters and managers (D & D Management) that should help ease that problem. Choncho ndi maganizo, I can’t wait to see what is to come.
In Johnson, Webster is fighting a guy with a pedestrian record but that was not by choice.
It is hard to get up for this opponent. We had at least 12 guys turn down the fight for one reason or another. There is nothing I can do to make guys fight me. I am just going into this fight to get a win and start fighting the upper echelon guys. I think I will come right back in July and we will be fighting for some regional titles.
I appreciate the support. I love my family and fans. This fight will end in a knockout. I am glad I can display this on national television and the world will finally recognize what they have been missing and that is that I am the best southpaw in boxing.

Canadian lightweight Tony “Mphezi” Luis (19-3, 7 Ko) says he’s disappointed with the scoring of his controversial unanimous-decision loss last weekend to Derry Mathews (38-9-2, 20 Ko) for the interim WBA Lightweight title in Matthewshometown of Liverpool, England, but won’t let it deter him from his goals.

Despite taking the fight on three days’ zindikirani, Luis seemed to outwork Matthews in most rounds and would probably be wearing a championship belt today, had the fight been contested on neutral ground. Mwatsoka, the European judges saw it another way, scoring it 114-112 (Jean Legland, FRA), 115-112 (Dave Parris, UK) ndipo 114-112 (Stefano Carozza, ITA), all for Matthews.

I can’t say I feel good,” said Luis, home safely in Cornwall, Ontario. “This was my shot and I didn’t get the decision, but I know with my performance, I’ll get another one. Most of the press and the fans, especially in North America, know what’s up and saw the fight for what it really was. Derry did what he had to do to survive but not enough to win. He was cagey and made the fight look more competitive than it was, and that’s what a veteran is supposed to do.

Despite his disappointment in the scoring, Luis says taking the fight was still a good career choice. “It was absolutely the right decision. You don’t turn down a title shot. But taking it on three days’ zindikirani, we knew we’d have to shake off the jetlag quickly. My game plan was good, but on such short notice, it wasn’t muscle memory. I had to keep thinking about it in the ring. That’s why I think it took me three rounds to get going. Despite all this, I still won the fight. Now I know I belong among the champions in this division and that’s a good feeling.

Luis’ kulimbikitsa, Greg Cohen wa Greg Cohen Zokwezedwa, says he’s pleased with his fighter’s strong performance and will immediately go to work for the 27-year-old.

Tony looked sensational lachiwelu,” anati Cohen. “Taking the fight on such short notice, you’d think fatigue would play a role, but he was a machine in there. That shows you how hard he works in the gym. Of course we’re disappointed in the scoring, but looking at the big picture, we now know we have a championship-caliber fighter in Tony. He responded perfectly to the pressure of a world championship fight. I will be petitioning the sanctioning bodies to keep Tony high up in the ratings and give him another title shot very soon. This time on neutral ground.

Luis will be returning to action quickly, he is set to fight for a regional title against an opponent TBA on June 26 at the Seneca Niagara Event Center in Niagara Falls, New York, and live on CBS Sports Network.

I’m a bit discouraged from the politics,” anapitiriza Luis, “but am I deterred from my goals? Absolutely not. The people have spoken, the fans know who won and that is consolation for me. I will keep moving forward!”

Hogan Outworks Brunson on CBS Sports Network Night of Boxing

Photos by Jesse Kelley

Australia via Kildare, Ireland a WBA #12- ndipo IBF # 11 oveteredwa “Mphepo Yamkuntho” Dennis Hogan (21-0-1, 7 Ko) cruised to an entertaining and workmanlike 10-round decision over Philadelphia’s Tyrone “Young chotchedwa Chigani umatchula” Brunson (22-5-1, 21 Ko) usikuuno, mu waukulu mwambo “Championship Maseŵera a nkhonya pa CBS Sports Network” at the Grand Casino Hinckley in Hinckley, Minnesota.

Fighting in front of an appreciative sold-out crowd, Hogan outworked the careful Brunson in the majority of rounds to win by scores of 96-94, 98-92 ndipo 97-93 and in the process, picked up the World Boxing Association’s NABA-US Super Welterweight Championship.

Hogan closed the show well and seemed to hurt Brunson with a series of clubbing shots. But Brunson was able to survive the onslaught.

Brunson, who seems to have morphed into a counter puncher since his days as the King of the KO 1 earlier in his career, had a good round eight and seemed to hurt Hogan with a right. He kept it interesting throughout by catching Hogan coming in with right hands.

Presented by Greg Cohen Promotions in association with Adam Wilcock’s Fight Card Promotions and produced by David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions “Championship Maseŵera a nkhonya pa CBS Sports Network” was the debut CBS-televised effort from the promotional team.

Several thudding knockouts punctuated the rest of the night’s action.

In the night’s co-main event, lightweight slugger Ismael Barroso made quick work of Memphis, Tennessee veteran Ira Terry, knocking him out inside of a round.

The southpaw Barroso, a El Tigre, Venezuela, moved his record to 18-0-2, 17 KOs by flattening Terry (tsopano 26-14, 16 Ko) with a devastating left hand. Barroso’s reputation seems to grow with every frightening performance. Terry tried moving to his left and being elusive, but it only took one shot from Barroso’s cement fists. Referee Mark Nelson began a count when Terry went down, but quickly waved it off at 2:49.

Mu televised chotsegulira, Saint Paul, Minnesota, middleweight prospect Rob “Mwachita Bwino” Brant (15-0, 9 Ko)made surprisingly easy work of Miami via Colombia’s Dionisio Miranda (22-11-2, 19 Ko), dropping him for the full count at 2:40 wa kuzungulira awiri.

Brant showed superior quickness while landing his rangy shots form outside. A right hand started the trouble for the normally durable Miranda. The follow-up volley forced Miranda down and he elected, probably wisely, not to rise. The crowd-favorite Brant remains undefeated and now has a KO win over a quality mid-level opponent on his resume.

In what turned out to be a televised swing bout, American heavyweight prospect Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, wa Brooklyn, New York, moved his impressive record to 12-0-1, 10 KOs by knocking out Nairobi, Kenya’s Raymond “Mfumu Kong” Ochieng (26-19-3, 21 Ko) pa 1:40of the very first round.

Miller placed his heavy, accurate shots inside the wild swings of the game Ochieng and caught him with a strong combination against the ropes. Ochieng went down and referee Gary Miezwa waved it off without counting, probably prematurely.

Komabe, the charismatic Miller looked like a solid prospect taking out a useful veteran in Ochieng, who had gone 10 rounds with Alexander Petkovic in his last fight and handed 36-1 David Rodriguez a TKO 1 loss last July.

San Antonio, Texas, super bantamweight AdamMantequilla” Lopez (11-0, 6 Ko) furthered his reputation as an up-and-coming prospect by levelling Saint Paul, Minnesota’s Philip Adyaka (4-5, 2 Ko) with a monstrous left hook at 58 seconds of round two. 24-year-old Lopez was too big and too powerful for the smaller Adyaka. Lopez impressed, showing off his world-class weaponry while banging to the head and body, especially with the left hook. Adyaka bravely tried to rise, but stumbled back into the ropes and the fight was waved off.

In a six-round heavyweight match-up, fan favorite Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell (30-8, 29 Ko) of nearby Coon Rapids, Minnesota, started his comeback by stopping journeyman Travis “Iron Man” Fulton (22-39-1, 21 Ko) of Cedar Falls, Iowa in three rounds. Out of the ring for more than a year, the southpaw Abell finally shook off the rust and got through with a volley of punches against the ropes, which badly stunned Fulton. The came at 34 seconds with Fulton dazed but still standing. I’m starting over. I want to get a couple wins and hopefully get a big fight here,” said Abell, pambuyo nkhondo. Mwatsoka, Abell slipped awkwardly in the first round and reportedly suffered a serious ankle injury.

In a four-round, all-Minneapolis super heavyweight showdown to open the night, 316-lb Van “Mwamunayo” Goodman, tsopano 4-5-2, 4 Ko, picked up a good win over299-LB Brett Murphy, tsopano 1-1, 1 KO via TKO 2. Murphy was down in round one and twice more in round two. A tidy left uppercut was the finishing shot. Nthawi ya stoppage anali 1:38.
