Sampson Boxing Signs The Cuban Menace, Pablo Vicente, to a Promotional Contract

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of power-punching Cuban super featherweight Pablo “The Cuban Menace” Vicente to an exclusive promotional contract.


Vicente, currently residing in Panama City, Panama, but originally hailing from Havana, Cuba, is currently ranked #10 in the world by the WBC. A former decorated amateur on the vaunted Cuban National Team, Vicente (17-1, 15 KOs) turned professional in 2016 and has gone on to stop all but three of his professional opponents.


The 28-year-old will make his Sampson Boxing debut on Friday, October 29, at the Centro de Convenciones Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Bella Vista, in his adopted home of Panama City in a 10-round showdown against Argentina’s Javier Herrera (17-4-1, 8 KOs) for the WBC Continental Americas Super Featherweight Championship.


“I am very happy to have gained a promoter who can properly move my career in Sampson,” said Vicente. “Our plan is to begin fighting in the US and start climbing up the ladder to a world championship. I am going to train like never before because I know I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to reach all my dreams as a fighter.”


Lewkowicz, boxing’s premier talent scout, says Vicente will make a great addition to his ever-growing stable of contenders, prospects and champions.


“The Cuban Menace will be a world champion,” said Lewkowicz. “He is a very strong fighter with excellent power in his combinations and the skill level you would expect from an elite fighter. We will continue his development and move him into the fights he needs to become another great champion from the Island of Cuba.”

Promoter Lewkowicz Inks WBC #5 Fundora to Face WBC #2 Garcia in 12-Round Super Welterweight Showdown

Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces he has obtained signed contracts from undefeated super welterweight contenders Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora and Sergio “El Nino” Garcia to face each other.


WBC #5-rated Fundora (17-0-1, 12 KOs) and WBC #2-rated Garcia (33-0, 14 KOs) will meet in an exciting 12-round showdown, to be shown live on Fox TV, date and venue to be announced shortly.


The massive 6′ 6″ Fundora is a 23-year-old southpaw with an incredible 80-inch reach who has been building a respected name for himself among 154-lb fighters with a string of very impressive performances. The Coachella resident was last seen on May 1, scoring an exciting TKO 4 over Mexican perennial contender Jorge Cota on the Ruiz vs. Arreola PPV event at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.


The 5′ 11½″ Garcia is a 28-year-old right-hander from Torrelavega, Cantabria, Spain. In 2019, he captured the European Super Welterweight Championship with a 12-round unanimous decision over England’s then-undefeated Ted Cheeseman and successfully defended it three times. He also captured the WBC International Super Welter Title in 2016 and again in 2017 and made one successful defense. In In his last ring appearance, Garcia stopped France’s Gregory Trenel in six rounds in December of 2020.


“These are the kind of fights the public wants to see,” said Lewkowicz. “Two undefeated top contenders facing each other with their perfect records on the line. FORMER IBF WORLD CHAMPION JONATHAN “SALOMON KING” GUZMAN SIGNS WITH EL MATADOR MANAGEMENT

QUEENS, NY (May 15th, 2018) – El Matador Management, Inc. has announced the signing of hard hitting super bantamweight contender, Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman (23-1, 22 KO’s). Felipe Gomez will now be managing the career of hard hitting and former IBF World Super Bantamweight Champion Guzman, who hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Gomez will be working closely with Sampson Lewkowicz (Guzman’ Promoter) as they jointly look to keep Guzman busy, while guiding him back toward a world title.

 

 

 

Guzman won the IBF World Super Bantamweight Title with an 11-round stoppage over Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KO’s) in Japan. Guzman then defended his title against Yukinori Oguni (18-1-1, 8 KO’s) in Kyoto, Japan losing a 12-round unanimous decision.

 

 

 

“I been out of the ring for over a year now and I know Felipe Gomez can help jump-start my career again.” said Guzman. “I see the job he is doing with all his fighters and how he has been keeping them busy. Sampson Boxing Inks Promotional Deal with Panamanian Rising Star Jose ‘El Magnifico’ Nunez

Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of undefeated Panamanian lightweight Jose “El Magnífico” Nunez. 
 
19-year-old Nunez is considered one of the most exciting Panamanian prospects to watch.  He was awarded the title of “Prospect of the year 2017” by his homeland’s press and the Panamanian Boxing Commission.
 
Originally from Curundu Panama, Nunez started fighting at the early age of 10, holds an undefeated record of 5-0 as a professional.
 
“I am very grateful that Mr. Sampson is going to promote my career as a professional fighter. Now is my turn to demonstrate him and everybody else that I came to this sport to be the best and beat the best,” said Nunez. 
 
Manager and trainer José Murillo says he’s also happy with his young fighter’s new deal.
 
“We are well aware of who Mr. Lewkowicz is and what he is able to accomplish for Nunez and we can´t be more confident that he is in the best hands possible.  What Sampson promises, Sampson delivers. We have full confidence that we have taken the right decision signing this deal.”

Nunez is scheduled to appear in his first international fight on February 9, in Santa Fe, Argentina, against Lucio Alberto Ayala from Buenos Aires. The fight is being promoted by Sampson Boxing, Tello-Box and JEB Boxing and will be televised trough TyC Sports and VTV Uruguay.

Sampson Lewkowicz proudly announces that budding superstar, and WBC World Super Middleweight Champion, David “El Bandera Roja / Red Flag” Benavidez has renewed his exclusive Sampson Boxing promotional agreement.
20-year-old Benavidez (19-0, 17 KOs), became the youngest super middleweight world champion in boxing history by winning a split decision over Romania’s Ronald Gavril last September. The Phoenix-based slugger says he’s happy to continue his promotional relationship with Lewkowicz.
“Sampson is a great promoter and he’s done a lot for me,” said Benavidez. “He’s always treated me and my team with respect and I was eager to re-sign with him. I can’t wait to defend my title against the best and become the great fighter I am with Sampson on my team.”
Father, co-manager and trainer Jose Benavidez says signing with Sampson was an easy decision for Team Benavidez.
“We are all really happy and excited,” he said. “We started with Sampson and he’s done a tremendous job. We are super satisfied with what he’s done and where we are at. We didn’t even think twice about it. I think when this contract ends, we’ll sign another one with him.”
Co-manager David Garcia says continuing with Sampson Boxing means more big fights are on the horizon for the young champion.
“Sampson has been good to work with and David became a world championwithin two years of signing with him, so we’re very excited to be able to continue that. Davis is a phenomenal talent. Appearing in an important six-round test against another undefeated fighter will be 6′ 7″ middleweight prospect Sebastian “Towering Inferno” Fundora (4-0, 3 KOs). Salinas, who has been boxing since age nine and had over 100 amateur fights, says his incredible height comes from his father/trainer Freddy Fundora’s Cuban side of the family. His mother is of Mexican descent.
“I have cousins in Cuba that are seven feet tall,” said Fundora. “I eat a lot but for some reason, I can’t gain any weight. Could be because I’m always training.”
Naturally, Fundora says he boxes from the outside and uses his natural gifts to overwhelm opponents and eventually stop them. He credits his success in the ring to his father, who has been his trainer since the first day. “He’s always been there for me, and he’s the biggest inspiration of my life. He’s the only person I really look up to. He’s my coach and father and best friend; an all-around good guy.

Tuesday’s 7.1 magnitude quake killed at least 230 people in total, including at least 21 children and five adults at a primary school which collapsed in Mexico City.

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of explosive Mexican lightweight Bryan “The Kid” Figueroa to a promotional contract.

Before turning professional in 2014, undefeated Figueroa (12-0, 5 KOs) had an accomplished amateur career in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico. A highly skilled boxer with matinee-idol good looks, Figueroa is trained by Coach Joe Vargas at The Arena Gym in San Diego, California and managed by Gregorio Ambriz.
He joins an ever-growing stable of Sampson Boxing Mexican and Hispanic fighters that includes boxing’s hottest fighter, super middleweight top contender David Benavidez, former WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion Hugo Ruiz, top super featherweight contender Jorge Lara, former multiple-time world champion Javier Fortuna, and WBC Latino welterweight Champion Cesar Miguel Barrionuevo.

Barrionuevo to Face Meza for WBC Latino Welterweight Championship
On Saturday, May 13, promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing, will present a night of world-class boxing, featuring several undefeated fighters risking their perfect records, at the Centro de Convenciones in Punta del Este, in his home country of Uruguay.
After the event’s weigh-in the night before, on Friday, May 12, Lewkowicz is also putting on a pair of very special seminars for South American officials and trainers.
Fighting in the May 13 10-round main event will be WBC #14-rated welterweight Cesar Miguel “La Joya” Barrionuevo (31-3-2, 21 KOs) of Catamarca, Argentina, taking on Oscar “El Estudiante” Meza (28-7, 23 KOs) of Sinaloa, México for the WBC Latino Welterweight Championship.
Barrionuevo knocked out Panama’s Azael Cosio in five rounds last year, as part of the WBC’s aborted welterweight tournament. He was supposed to move on to face then undefeated Sammy Vasquez, however Vasquez elected instead to Olympic Gold Medalist Felix Diaz and lost a unanimous decision. Despite the setback, Barrionuevo is still in line for an eventual elimination fight, or even a world title shot. While he waits, he is engaging in this intriguing title fight against the well-respected Meza.
In the eight-round co-main event, undefeated super featherweight Sergio “El Pamperito” Sain (12-0, 9 KOs) of La Pampa, Argentina will face also undefeated Matias Romero (13-0, 6 KOs) of Córdoba, Argentina.
In the main supporting bout, super bantamweight Eduardo “El Zurdito” Ramirez (19-0-2, 7 KOs) of Sinaloa, México, will face Alan Luques “El Lumbriz” Castillo (20-6, 9 KOs) of Córdoba, Argentina over eight rounds.
Also on the undercard is a six-round “all undefeated, all Argentina” battle between former Olympian and heavily decorated amateur Alberto “Beto” Palmetta (3-0, 1 KO) of Buenos Aires and Octavio Ezequiel “Dinamita” Segundo (6-0, 2 KOs) of Salta, Argentina.
In a six-round super featherweight brawl, Martin “El Guapo” Matamala (9-2, 2 KOs) of Neuquen, Argentina, will have his hands full against undefeated Abraham Nova
(5-0, 4 KOs) of Braintree, Massachusetts, via Puerto Rico. Also scheduled to appear is undefeated super welterweight Andres Vera (2-0, 2 KOs) of Uruguay against an opponent TBA.
The event will be televised in Uruguay on VTV, and in Argentina and around the world on TyC Sports.
The night before the fights, in the luxury Centro de Convenciones (one of the most modernized venues in all south America) Lewkowicz will host two simultaneous seminars featuring well-known boxing figures.
World-famous referee Steve Smoger will conduct one of the seminars for boxing officials throughout the country, as well as in Argentina and Brazil. At the same time, world-class trainer Hector Bermudez will be teaching South American trainers about proper hand-wrapping and cut administration techniques.
Lewkowicz, the only world-class promoter ever to come from Uruguay, says he’s excited about the Centro de Convenciones’ involvement in boxing and about the event itself.

FORTUNA RENEWS PROMOTIONAL AGREEMENT WITH SAMPSON BOXING

Former WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight Champion Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna (31-1-1, 22 KOs) has renewed his long-term promotional agreement with promoter Sampson Lewkowicz and Sampson Boxing.
From La Romana, Dominican Republic, the 27-year-old Fortuna has won two straight since dropping his super featherweight belt in a shocker against Jason Sosa in June 2016. He came back with an impressive two-round blowout of fellow Dominican Marlyn Cabrera in September 2016 and then, in November took the undefeated record of Delaware’s Omar “Super O” Douglas by unanimous decision.
“Sampson Lewkowicz is and always will be my promoter,” said Fortuna. “He has done right by me and my career at every turn. I will be world champion again with Sampson in my corner.”
Lewkowicz, who says he’s working on a big fight for Fortuna, says Fortuna has become like family.

“Javier is a son to me. I am honored to be his promoter and look forward to continuing to work for him. He is a great champion with many great fights left. After he won his first title, he told me we would work together for his entire career and he has kept his word. I will do everything to make him a champion again.”
