VASQUEZ BROTHERS WIN IN RENO

13. jūnijs, RENO — In front of a packed crowd at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa, Reno, flyweight Oscar Vasquez took a unanimous victory against Mexico’s Javier Lapizco. All three judges scored the bout 80-72. Vasquez was in control of the fight from the opening bell but had to weather several intense exchanges with the game Lapizco throughout the fight. Vasquez moves to 10-1, Lapizco to 7-4.

 

Oscar’s younger brother Santos scored a second-round TKO over Nestor Hernandez in a Jr. flyweight bout. Santos had Hernandez down in the first round by landing a left-hook that landed perfectly. He continued to land punches in the second and once again put Hernandez down. After a third knockdown, referee Vic Drakulich called a stop to the contest. Vasquez moves to 2-2, Hernandez to 0-2.

 

Arī par sestdienas karte, Reno’s Alec McGee was successful in his professional debut over the tough Mulapi Enjani via unanimous decision in a four-round featherweight bout. The aggressive Enjani had his moments, but McGee’s boxing ability proved to be superior. Enjani moves to 2-2-2.

 

The sensational opening bout pitted super featherweights Derick Bartlemay and Matt Murphy against each other in a four-round fight. The nonstop action resembled the final fight sequence in a Rocky movie and ultimately resulted in a draw.

 

In a four-round super-featherweight bout, Rafael Busuioc scored a unanimous decision win over Jose Luis Gallegos in an a high energy bout.

June 8th, RENO — The final touches for Sestdienas world-class boxing event have been finalized by Let’s Get It On Promotions and the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa. The full professional boxing card will take place At Atlantis’ Paradise Ballroom 7 PM Sestdiena.

 

June 11th’s card will be headlined by Reno’s own Oscar Vasquez (9-1) as he faces Mexico’s Javier Lapizco (7-3) of in an eight-round flyweight bout.

 

Oscar’s younger brother, Santos, will also be fighting sestdien. Santos will be fighting Nestor Hernandez of Seattle, WA in a junior-flyweight bout.

 

Two of Reno’s amateur boxing stars will be making their highly-anticipated professional debuts in separate bouts. Alec McGee will be debuting in four-round fight in the bantamweight division against Mulapi Enjani of San Diego, PIEMĒRAM,. Kenny Davis Jr. will be fighting Jose Luis Gallegos of Bakersfield, CA in a four-round featherweight bout.

 

In a four-round junior-lightweight contest, Sacramento’s Rafael Busuioe will face Kevin Davila of Seattle.

MAY 18th, RENO — Let’s Get It On Promotions and the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa are pleased to announce an evening of world-class professional boxing on Sestdiena, June 11th, 2016 in Atlantis’ Paradise Ballroom. The evening’s main event will feature is local Reno favorite Oscar Vasquez (9-1). Vasquez, a popular local flyweight, will be featured in an eight-round bout.

 

Vasquez, who recently entered into a long-term promotional agreement with Let’s Get It On Promotions, looks to continue his campaign towards world title contention. Savā pēdējā cīņā, Vasquez scored a sensational knockout win over Jose Toribio in Fallon, NV.

Alexandre Almeida vs. Lance Palmer

On December 18, 5-foot-11, 27-year-old Almeida of Manaus, Amazone, Brazil notched his fifth consecutive win, seizing the World Series of Fighting featherweight title from Palmer of Sacramento, Calif. via a controversial, unanimous decision after Almeida used his significant height and reach advantage to continuously frustrate the 5-foot-6, 28-year-old Palmer for the duration of their five-round matchup.

The loss snapped a three-fight win streak for Palmer, who captured the featherweight strap when he submitted Rick Glenn with a rear-naked choke in the third round (3:09) of their matchup on December 13, 2014.

Phoenix Jones vs. Caros Fodor

Over the course of the last five years, Jones and Fodor of Seattle have each, on several occasions, gone on the record expressing their desires to fight one another, despite the fact that they grew up under the same roof and train in the same camp owned by head coach Matt Hume.

6-foot, 27-year-old Jones, whose local crime fighting escapades have made national headlines, will make his first start in the decagon cage since September 18 when he iesniegts Roberto Yong with a rarely seen, highlight reel scissor choke in the first round (3:09) of their meeting at WSOF23.

Fodor, 5-foot-9, 32-year-old veteran of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Strikeforce, made his debut under the World Series of Fighting banner, after a five-fight stint with ONE in Asia, gada janvārī 23, losing a unanimous decision to Luiz Firmino in the main event of WSOF27.

Las Vegas (Decembris 18) – The “force” was with Cuban star and newly crowned lightweight world champion Rances Barthelemy (24-0, 13 Kos) as he won a 12-round unanimous decision over Russian southpaw Denis Shafikov (36-2-1, 19 Kos) in the headlining bout of the final Premier Boksa Champions (PBC) par Spike fight card of 2015. The four-fight telecast, which was supported by non-televised fights featuring some of Mayweather Promotions’ uzlecošās zvaigznes, took place at the Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Coming off of a luxury world tour, Floyd Mayweather returned stateside and sat ringside as promoter of tonight’s fights. The turning point of the fight occurred when a cut caused by a punch by Barthelemy opened up above Shafikov’s right eye in the eighth round. The blood began to poor furiously and referee Vic Drakulich called the ringside doctor over to inspect the cut. When the fight resumed, Barthelemy attacked the Russian’s eye and never let up for the remainder of the fight. He took advantage of the cut and coupled it with his height and reach advantage which led to a recipe for success as he is now a two-division world champion. The judges saw the bout 119-109 un 116-112 divreiz.
“There were moments where I was trapped into my style of fighting. It took me a minute to adjust to Shafikov’s style and exchange punches with him,” Teica Barthelemy. “I’m really happy with the number of punches I was able to get off.
“I was really impressed with Shafiov’s warrior style. He never gave up even after getting hurt with punches that were affecting his fight. That really caught me by surprise and also that he was able to last the whole fight. The fact that he continued really says something about him as a fighter.”
“I’m not sure if I won the fight,” Teica Shafikov. “I’m very disappointed and I want a rematch.”
The co-main event saw a bizarre ending to what was to be a cruiserweight elimination bout. Detroit southpawIsiah Thomas (15-0, 6 Kos) was winning the fight on all three judges’ scorecards through round three when Russian power-puncher Murat “Dzelzs” Gassiev (22-0, 16 Kos) threw accidental late blows to Thomas’ head after the bell. The punches forced referee Džejs Nadijs to make the tough call that the punches “diminished the value” of Thomas’ ability to continue. As the fight had not yet gone four rounds, unified rules state that the fight does not go to the scorecards, thus ruling it a no contest.
Chris Pearson (16-1 11 Kos), a promising super welterweight from Dayton, Ohio put his previously undefeated record on the line against fellow unbeaten Eric Walker (12-0, 6 Kos) of Plaquemine, Louisiana in the second televised bout. Walker came out strong, dominating the early rounds against Pearson, another member of the stable of rising stars from Mayweather Promotions. A wobbled Pearson persevered and attempted to turn the tide in an action-packed fifth round with a series of head shots.

The seventh round saw both fighters exchanging a brutal barrage of punches culminating with a fast-paced eighth and final round drawing a standing ovation from the crowd. The underdog Walker, who spent 13 years in Dixon Correctional Institute in Louisiana, scored a unanimous decision victory (79-71, 78-74, 80-72) winning the biggest fight of his life in front of a captivated national TV audience.

“If you believe in God and work hard at what you’re doing, you’re going to succeed,” Said Walker. “Look at me now.
“I had watched his previous fights and knew that my right hand would be too much for him and that I could land it anytime,” continued Walker. “My conditioning was really the difference tonight. I was in great shape and I was able to rely on that when the going got tough.”

Pearson was disappointed in the decision and was left wanting a rematch.

“I take my hat off to him,” said Pearson. “His punches were crisp and hard. I just couldn’t get going on anything consistently. I thought it was closer than the judges’ scorecards and I definitely want a rematch as soon as possible.”

In the ninth round, he threw a massive left hand to finish Sanchez, sending Mayweather to his feet in celebration.

“It felt great to fight all of these rounds and get the work in,” Teica Davis. “He’s a tough fighter and I learned a great deal tonight. It was a very good experience for me.
“I just listened to my corner and Floyd, took my time and broke him down. I want to fight again as soon as possible for a world title.”
Mayweather, who was very pleased with Davis’ performance, sees the young undefeated fighter’s future as bright.
