PARIS, FRANCE – Fresh off unifying the BELLATOR MMA Heavyweight Championship, Ryan Bader (29-7, 1 NC) will defend his crown in enemy territory against hometown favorite and No. 2-ranked heavyweight Cheick Kongo (31-11-2, 1 NC) am Freitag, Mai 6. With mixed martial arts becoming legalized in France in 2020, BELLATOR became the first promotion to hold a major MMA event with Bellator 248 in October of that year. The success of that historic card propelled BELLATOR to make a return to “The City of Lights.”

“Bringing BELLATOR to France in 2020 was one of the highlights of my career, and I knew that it was the start of a long run of big events in Paris,” BELLATOR President Scott Coker said. “Here we are ready for our second trip to France and this time we are bringing a heavyweight world title rematch featuring arguably the most recognizable French mixed martial artist in our sports history. It’s personally important to me to help grow the sport in France and give these athletes a chance to perform on a large stage.”

The main event is a rematch from Bellator 226 in 2019 that ended in a controversial no-contest following a disputed eye poke, creating heightened tension between the two fight camps that will surely boil over on May 6.

Successfully returning to the 265-pound division following an impressive run in the BELLATOR Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix, Ryan Bader (29-7) is fresh off a dominant BELLATOR MMA World Heavyweight Title defense over interim champion Valentin Moldavsky in front of a partisan Phoenix crowd on Jan. 29. A former two-division champion, Bader has defeated nine of his last 12 opponents at both heavyweight and light heavyweight. Kampf gegen Chandler, Ariz., the former two-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler from Arizona State University opened his professional career by winning season eight of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Never one to shy away from an opponent, Bader has had nothing but high-profile bouts since signing with BELLATOR MMA in 2017, defeating Fedor Emelianenko, König Mo, Matt Mitrione, Linton Vassell, Lyoto Machida, and Phil Davis. In his initial 265-pound title defense against Kongo, Bader controlled the action before referee Mike Beltran stopped the contest due to an accidental poke to Kongo’s left eye at 3:52 der ersten Runde.

The bout was originally scheduled to feature Caleb Hall (4-0) against Mickle, but Hall had to pull out of the fight due to a medical issue. Lacey was quick to jump on the opportunity to get back in the NEF cage. He has not competed since “NEF 35” in the fall of 2018 when he defeated Jon Lemke (7-8).  The fight with Mickle will be Lacey’s first as a member of Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire.

Bereits heute Morgen, NEF kündigte die Ergänzung der Kampfkarte um einen professionellen Leichtgewichtskampf an.Carl Langston(0-6)soll übernehmenShaun Ray(2-1) bei einem Kampfgewicht von 155 Pfund.

Carl Langston sucht den ersten Sieg seiner Profikarriere – eine Karriere, die bis 2018 zurückreicht. Davor, Langston hat als Amateur sieben Kämpfe gewonnen. Er ist ein lebenslanger Kampfkünstler, praktizierte Taekwondo seit ihrem sechsten Lebensjahr und gewann Medaillen in diesem Sport auf olympischem Niveau der Junioren. Langston tritt derzeit als unabhängiger Kämpfer an.

„Dieser Kampf ist es für mich, es zu schaffen oder zu brechen,“ bemerkte Langston.  „Ich habe jedes Werkzeug, um Shaun und jeden meiner letzten Gegner zu besiegen, Ich muss nur mental auftauchen. Mit Beginn dieses neuen Jahres hatte ich einige große positive Veränderungen im Leben, und weitere werden folgen, und ich glaube, das wird dazu beitragen, eine wichtige Rolle in diesem Kampf zu spielen. Ich bin bereit, auf mein Mundstück zu beißen und dieses Finish zu bekommen. Ich habe nicht das Gefühl, dass Ray ein echter 55er ist – er ist sehr klein für die Gewichtsklasse – also der Sprung auf 55 ihn zu bekämpfen ist ein Beweis für meine Fähigkeiten. Ich werde der bahnbrechende Kämpfer des Jahres 2022 sein.“

Shaun Ray gab letzten Sommer sein NEF-Debüt bei „NEF 44“ in Milford, New Hampshire verliert gegen Caleb Hall (4-0).  Ray ist Absolvent der Easton High School in Easton, Maryland. Er ist derzeit ein Einwohner von Waterville, Maine. Wie Langston, Ray ist auch ein unabhängiger Kämpfer.

„Ich bin dankbar für die Möglichkeit, mein Können gegen einen sehr erfahrenen Stürmer zu testen,“ sagte Ray.  „Ich kenne Carl und verfolge seine Kampfkarriere seit sieben Jahren. Ich habe großen Respekt vor ihm als Kämpfer. Was mich betrifft, Ich mache einfach das, was ich gerne tue. Ich denke, dies ist ein ausgezeichnetes Match-Up.“

The fight will be the professional debut for Al Kinani who finished his amateur career with an impressive record of 9-1. He leaves the amateur division as the number-one ranked lightweight in both New England and the Northeast. Six of Al Kinani’s nine victories have been finishes, including a 34-second knockout in his final amateur fight last fall. The fight with Rooney will be Al Kinani’s first in his home state of Maine in over three years. He represents Evolution Athletix based in Saco, Maine.

“This fight on February 12th is the first step of a long journey that I’ve been dreaming of for quite some time,” said Al Kinani. “It’s going to be a fight that’ll start and end with a handshake, but you know how I roll once I’m locked in there. Chris Rooney will make his first appearance in the NEF cage on February 12, but he is a longtime MMA veteran, having competed in the sport since February 2011. He won twelve fights as an amateur prior to making his professional debut last September. Rooney trains at Sargent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in St. Albans, Vermont.

“I am very excited to announce that my next fight will be against Mo Kinani for New England Fights,” stated Rooney. “Though this will be my second fight as a professional, this will be my debut with NEF. I am looking forward to showcasing my knockout power and overall abilities as a mixed martial artist. Even though the fans in Maine may not yet know the name Rooney, they won’t forget it after they witness my iron-fist power.”

Paul vs. Woodley II titled “Leave No Doubt” will be the main event on SHOWTIME PPV, live from AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Fla., am Samstag, Dezember 18 (9p ET/6p PT).

Woodley steps in to replace professional boxer and reality TV starTommy Fury, who withdrew from the event due to a medical issue that impacted his training camp. Paul vs. Woodley II is a professional cruiserweight bout scheduled for 8-rounds at a contract weight of 192 Pfund.

“When my team woke me up on Friday to tell me Tommy was pulling out, I told them I’m ready to fight anyone on December 18,” said Paul, wer ist 4-0 as a pro boxer with three knockouts. “Troy, Trey, Trevor, Travis.
