PHILADELPHIA (November 8, 2016) – An exciting night highlighting the best rising talent in the Philadelphia-area comes to Temple University’s Liacouras Center on Saturday, November 12 and will feature middleweight prospect Kyrone Davis (10-1, 4 KOs) facing once-beaten Carlos Gabriel Ozan (12-1, 4 KOs) and unbeaten super lightweight Milton Santiago (15-0, 3 KOs) against Argentina’s Claudio Rosendo Tapia (28-16-4, 13 KOs) in a pair of eight-round showdowns.
The event is headlined by undefeated welterweight world champion and Philadelphia-native Danny “Swift” Garcia taking on Colombia’s Samuel Vargas. Coverage of Premier Boxing Champions on Spike begins at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT and features undefeated rising star Jarrett Hurd battling former title challenger Jo Jo Dan plus former world champion Javier Fortuna taking on unbeaten Omar Douglas.

Additional action will feature a pair of unbeaten Philadelphia prospects as Thomas Velasquez squares-off against Miami’s Raul Chirino in a four-round super featherweight affair while Christian Carto faces Mexico’s Leonardo Reyes in four-rounds of bantamweight action.
Rounding out the night of fights is unbeaten super featherweight Titus Williams taking on once-beaten Philadelphia-native Antonio Dubose in a six-round showdown and unbeaten lightweight Jeffrey Torres taking on Joseph Serrano in a four-round bout between Philadelphia prospects.
A two-time amateur National Champion fighting out of Wilmington, Delaware, Davis turned pro in 2014 after a stellar amateur career. The 21-year-old delivered wins in his first 10 starts before dropping a competitive contest to then unbeaten Junior Castillo in April. A two-time Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion, Davis fights in Philadelphia for the first time as a pro when he takes on the 28-year-old Ozan from Mendoza, Argentina.
Unbeaten and fighting out of Philadelphia, Santiago looks for his third victory of 2016 when he enters the ring on November 12. A pro since 2014, the 20-year-old Santiago fights in his home city for the sixth time in his short career. Alvarez has won three eight-round bouts in a row and looks to be victorious again when he faces the experienced Tapia out of Mendoza, Argentina.

Twice a National Golden Gloves runner up, Russell won the national championship in 2013 and he now looks to follow in the footsteps of his older brother and current 126-pound world champion Gary. The 23-year-old fighting out of Washington, D.C. turned pro in 2015 and delivered five victories before making his 2-16 debut in April with a stoppage of Alberto Serna. He will take on Kingston, Jamaica’s Hedge who made his U.S. debut in May.

Bethlehem, PA (December 29, 2015)–TONIGHT, at the Sands Bethlehem Events Center undefeated Super Lightweight, Milton “El Santo”  Santiago (12-0, 3 KO’s) will take on Angel Hernandez (9-5-1, 5 KO’s) in a bout scheduled for eight-rounds.
The bout will take place off-tv of a card headlined by Super Featherweights Omar Douglas and Frank De Alba
Santiago of Philadelphia will be making his 5th start of 2015 and is excited to finish out the year with another win.

OMAR DOUGLAS DROPS BRAULIO SANTOS TWICE ON HIS WAY TO UNANIMOUS DECISION VICTORY

CALIFORNIA, PA. (September 16, 2015) – Sergeant Sammy “The Who Can Mexican” Vasquez (20-0, 14 KOs)put on a show Tuesday night for his hometown fans on his way to fifth-round stoppage of Jose “Piston” Lopez (25-4-1, 15 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and FOX Deportes from the Convocation Center at California State University of Pennsylvania in California, PA.
Vasquez came out strong from the start, beating the hard-charging Lopez to the punch consistently in the early rounds. In the fourth round, Vasquez wobbled Lopez several times with hard combinations.
In the fifth round Vasquez took over the fight, dropping him early in the round with another flurry. Lopez was able to barely beat the count, but only lasted a few moments longer when Vasquez dropped him with another combination, prompting referee Gary Rosato to put a halt to fight 1:08 into the round.
Vasquez was dangerously effective with his power punches, landing 108 out of 189 thrown, giving him a 57.1 percentage with those punches. The hometown favorite had won every round on the judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
In the opening televised bout, Omar “Super O” Douglas (15-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated by beating Braulio Santos (22-2-1, 15 KOs) by unanimous decision in a rough and tumble fight. Both men were deducted a point over the 10-rounds, with Douglas losing a point in round four for hits behind the head and Santos being deducted for low blows in round seven.
Douglas started the fight fast, attacking the body and earning a first round knockdown with a stiff jab that caught Santos off-guard. Douglas followed that up in round two, connecting on a left hook that sent Santos to the canvas.
Douglas had a decided advantage in power punches landed with a 165-117 discrepancy, per CompuBox. The final judges totals were 99-87, 97-89 and 96-90.
SAMMY VASQUEZ
“He was real wild and the last thing I wanted was to get caught with a lucky shot. His body was wide open every time he came with the right hand. When he came in with the double right hand he left his ribs wide open.
“I wanted to key-in on the body, but his head was right there. He bent over and was ready to take punches.
“I was ready for him and I put the speed combo on him and it was over. I knew I was going to get him out of there.
“I rolled with the punches with him. He was leaving himself wide open. He got tired after he tried to get me on the ropes. Once I popped him with a couple uppercuts and a hook, I knew I hurt him.
“He came forward, he was very tough. He just wanted to punish me but I keyed in on my opportunities and got him out of there.
“I knew I could get him out of there because of the type of fighter that he is and the skill-set that I have and that’s what we did.
“Everybody in front of me is on my mind. I can only get to the top by beating the people in front of me. I’m not calling out any names, because I want every person ranked in front of me. I want everyone.”
JOSE LOPEZ
“I wanted to attack the body and put some pressure on him from the first round.
“He moved very well side-to-side. He is a very good boxer.
“I am very disappointed. I came here to win.”
OMAR DOUGLAS
“The jab is always a great weapon for me. He gave me more head movement after I was landing the jab. I tried to use the jab to the body and hurt him a few times. He was so short I had trouble throwing body shots.
“On the second knockdown I feinted the jab and got him with the left hook. I should have done that all night. There were a lot of opportunities for me.
“It was a tough fight. It was the kind of fight that I needed. I haven’t had a tough fight like that in a long time.
“He laid in the middle, a bit of a rough guy. He was head butting, pulling and everything. When we got inside we banged heads a lot. The ref was saying I was hitting on the top of the head, but he was coming in so low.
“I’ve done much better work before, he definitely gave me a tough fight, but I expected it.
“I want to fight guys with winning records. I expect tough fights. I’m 15-0 now and I expect challenges.”
BRAULIO SANTOS
“It was a hard fight. I’m not sure that I won, but I thought it was closer.
“I didn’t have that long to train and this is not a weight I usually fight at. I’d like to fight him again and have more time to prepare.”

This bout replaces the originally scheduled opening clash between Thomas Williams (18-1, 12 KOs) and Umberto Savigne (12-2, 9 KOs), after Savigne was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an injury sustained during training.

The local flavor continues with 31-year-old Pittsburgh heavyweight Jason “Ironman” Bergman (24-11-2, 16 KOs)  in a six-round bout plus undefeated 18-year-old Milton “El Santo” Santiago (11-0, 3 KOs) out of Philadelphia facing Mexico’s Alvaro Ortiz (7-3, 5 KOs)in six rounds of super lightweight action and 21-year-old Philadelphia bornStephen Fulton (6-0, 3 KOs) facing Samuel Rodriguez (3-0, 3 KOs) from the Bronx in a six-round super bantamweight bout.
Rounding out the action is 22-year-old Stephan Shaw (4-0, 3 KOs) out of St. Louis squaring off against 34-year-oldRandy Easton (3-7-1, 3 KOs) of Sanbury, PA, in four rounds of heavyweight action and 24-year-old Pittsburgh-native Amonte Eberhardt (2-0, 1 KO) in a four-round welterweight bout.
Unbeaten 24-year-old Douglas of Wilmington, DE, is ready to transition from prospect to contender. While an adept technical boxer, the powerful Douglas always seeks to end bouts early, with five of his 11 knockouts coming in the very first round. His most recent victory came by first round stoppage over Daniel Attah in April. He will be opposed by 25-year-old Santos out of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
An exciting fighter representing Pittsburgh, Meza Clay is looking to get back to the form that saw him reel off eight-straight wins between 2010 and 2014. The 34-year-old has picked up victories over Alan Herrera, Eric Aiken and Emmanuel Lucero over a career that spans back to 2002.
