71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Central N.E. quarterfinals results from Lowell

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 27, 2017) – The red-hot action continued in last night’s quarterfinals round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship of the Central New England (Greater Lowell) division as men’s and women’s open and novice matches were held in front of another great and exceedingly loud crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Judges were very busy as all 10 exciting bouts, including a Junior Olympic match and two non-tournament bouts, went the complete distance. Individual standouts included a pair of open division boxers, weltergewicht Michael Fontanez, van Nashua (N. H.), and Methuen (MA) middengewicht Yarmarco Guzman. A representative of Nashua, PAL, Fontanez is a slick, hard hitting southpaw who shutout, 5-0, a very tough Kenny Larson, of Salem (MA). Guzman, boxing out of Canal Street Gym, looked like a veteran boxer on his way to a 5-0 shutout win over Lowell’s Julien Baptiste.
The open and novice semifinals will be held aankomende donderdag nacht (Februari. 2) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with men’s and women’s matches. See the remaining 2017 lijst van evenementen zowel onder als gisteravond volledige resultaten.

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 21, 2017) – The preliminary round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship concluded last night with 11 exciting Central New England (Greater Lowell) men’s novice matches at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
De kwartfinale zal worden gehouden aankomende donderdag nacht (Jan. 26) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with men’s and women’s novice and open class matches. See complete 2017 lijst van evenementen zowel onder als gisteravond volledige resultaten.
“We had our second straight awesome show,” Uitvoerend directeur van New England Golden Gloves Bobby Russo zei. “There was another great crowd of enthusiastic fans who loved the non-stop action. (Januari 14, 2017) – The 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship kicked-off last night in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium as Central New England (Greater Lowell) preliminary-round action featured 14 exciting men’s and women’s novice class matches.

New England Golden Gloves Championship OPEN KLASSE FINALE RESULTATEN

Leden van de open klasse winnende-N.E. team uit Western NE viert feest

LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 26, 2016) – Western New England domineerde de open klasse finales van het New England Tournament of Champions, een deel van de 70th jaarlijkse Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, zeven ervan winnen 10 wedstrijden gisteravond in het historische Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
De acht individuele winnaars van de open klasse voor heren verdienden plaatsen in Team New England voor de 2016 Nationale Golden Gloves Kampioenschappen, Mei 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Team New England bestaat uit twee van de best gerangschikte boksers van het land, licht zwaargewicht Elvis Figueroa en licht weltergewicht Jaime Ortiz Rodriguez (herhaalde NE-kampioen), beide leden van N.E. open klasse teamkampioen uit Western NE. Burlington, MA-vedergewicht Amanda Pavone veroverde haar zesde NE. titel.
“In de laatste 10 jaar,” legde uitvoerend directeur van New England Golden Gloves uit Bobby Russo, “we waren niet goed bezig. Het bezoekersaantal daalde ieder jaar een beetje. Het vreselijke weer van vorig jaar heeft ons gedood. Dit jaar, hoewel, de opwinding was terug en het bezoekersaantal steeg met 30 procent. Er was een jonger publiek en veel beginnende boksers hadden een goede schare fans, die we elk jaar moeten opbouwen. We hebben dit jaar veel goede gevechten en goede boksers gehad. Boksen is terug in Lowell! We hebben een geweldig seizoen gehad.
“Team New England zal erg sterk zijn. We hebben een jong team, maar veel van deze boksers hebben veel ervaring van onschatbare waarde tijdens de Olympische Spelen voor junioren, van zwaargewicht naar beneden. Ik denk dat we een indrukwekkend team hebben dat het dit jaar heel goed zal doen tijdens The Nationals.”
Teamkampioenen waren Western N.E. in de openklas, Central N.E. in de beginnersklasse.

LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 25, 2016) – Vanavond (Donderdag, Februari. 25) open class finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, een deel van de 70th jaarlijkse Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, is set at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, as well as three final matches in the N.E. novice division, were held last night in Lowell. See complete results below as well as the bout sheet for vanavond.
At stake this evening are spots on Team New England for the 2016 Nationale Golden Gloves Kampioenschappen, Mei 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Winners in each open weight class will qualify.

NOVICE CLASS FINALS RESULTS FROM LOWELL
LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 19, 2016) – Fourteen 2016 New England Tournament of Champions winners were crowned last night in the novice class of 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central produced the most individual winners with seven, followed by Team Western with five, and Team Central had two.
The unofficial fight of the night was between Salem, MA weltergewicht Kenny Larson (Team Central) and his Dorchester, MA-tegenstander Jarrod LoMax (Team Southern), in which Larson won a three-round decision, 3-2.
Portland, ME bantamweight Christian Morales (Team Northern) continued his performance run in the tournament, winning a three-round decision, 5-0, over hometown Lowell favorite Marquis Fowler (Team Central) Morales’ impressive showings in the tournament will lead him into an open division spot in next week’s New Englands.
In a Central N.E. (Greater Lowell) heavyweight final rematch, due to a round-time issue, Methuen’s Jezus Flores (Canal Street Boxing) defeated Haverhill’s John Roche (Haverhill Downtown Boxing) by the same score as their original match in another thrilling, back-and-forth bout ending a in three-round decision (5-0). The crosstown rivalry between the two gyms and boxers led up to another compelling match with Flores qualifying for Woensdag night’s open class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions.
The New England Tournament of Champions open class semifinals and finals will be held volgende woensdag en Donderdagevenings, respectievelijk, bij Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 11, 2016) – Team Central had the edge in last night’s novice class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central had five individual winners, followed by Team South and Team West with three victories and Team North had two. The novice class finals of the N.E. Tournament of Champions will be held Donderdag, Februari. 18 bij Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Fight of the Night was the light heavyweight match of the novice class as Team South’s Henry Ventura (N. Dartmouth, MA) overcame two knockdowns to defeat Team North’s Tyler Jacques (St. Albanen, VT) who was dropped once and also had a standing eight count, door middel van een unaniem besluit (5-0).

LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 5, 2016) – Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston dominated last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) championship final round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, open and novice classes, in het historische Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Peter Welch’s Gym had seven winners last night: open – Hyde Park welterweight Jennifer Perella and Brookline light welterweight Abraham Nova; novice – Dorchester lightweightJonathen DePina en middengewicht Brian Lawrence, East Boston lightweight Claire Duffy licht weltergewicht, Boston light welterweight Katie Gregory and Franklin heavyweight Jared Gately.
Lowell West End Gym and Grealish Boston had the second-most winners last evening with two apiece.
Gisteravond, 15 matches went the distance, including several upsets, along with one technical knockout and a two walkovers.
All CNE finals winners qualified to compete in the upcoming New England Tournament of Champions, also held at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, beginnend aankomende donderdag night with the semifinals of the novice division.
