Undefeated Roman Bogatov captures M-1 Challenge lightweight title

The judges were very busy as all five main event fights, plus three of five undercard matches, went the full distance on a card of evenly matched fights.

 

 

 

Competing fighters represented nine different countries: ОХУ-, Бразил, Испани, Франц, Канад, Хятад улс, Finland, Azerbaijan and Northern Ireland.

Pereira’s (20-6-0) superior BJJ techniques from bottom were nullified Bogatov when the fight went down to the mat. Pereira was adversely affected by Bogatov’s takedown attack, which opened-up strong punches to Pereira’s head, resulting in a flash knockdown in the third round. Pereira got back in the fight midway through round four, connecting with punches and knees to the body, but the Brazilian needed a strong fifth and final round to win a decision. Bogatov, Гэсэн хэдий ч, remained aggressive, firing strikes and making take-downs, on his way to a unanimous five-found decision and the coveted M-1 Challenge lightweight title belt.

French lightweight Mickael “Ragnar” Lebouт (18-9-2) and always tough Russian Алексей “Даалгавар” Makhno battled tooth and nail in a bloody war (see pictures below). Lebout hit Makhno in the face with everything but the proverbial kitchen sink, but the Russian refused to go down and even landed a few solid shots on Lebout, who also has good “whiskers”. Lebout won an entertaining fight by way of a unanimous three-round decision.

 

 

 

In the main card opener, dangerous striker Pavel Gordeev (12-1-0) edged grappling specialist Alik Albogachiev (5-1-0) by way of a split decision in a showdown between Russian lightweights. The fighters were upright in the first two rounds, much to Gordeev’s advantage, and the previously Albogachiev was unable to close the gap in the final frame.

Finnish lightweight Jani Salmi (9-6-0) scored his second M-1 victory, using a rear naked choke for an opening round win by submission over Ruslan Khisamutdinov (10-5-0), ОХУ-. In a spirited match between Russian bantamweights, settled by a unanimous decision, Ivan Eremenko (8-2-0) was too much to handle for Nidzhat Imanov (4-4-1).

 

 

 

On the pre-undercard, Russian heavyweight Nikolay Rachek (8-6-0) punched out Midaugas Gerve (3-2-0), fighting out of Northern, Ирланд, via an unanswered barrage in the opening round. ОХУ-ын Эмэгтэй дунд Denis Titulialin (3-3-0) connected with a devastating knee, knocking out pro-debuting, fellow countryman Nikita Shamov дугуй нэг. He has stopped his last two opponents, which includes his last bout when he stopped Deo Kizito at The 2300 Arena. This will be Cuevas’s 3rd consecutive and 4th overall fight at The 2300 Arena.

 

 

 

Surging 18 year-old prospect Brandon Pizarro will see action in a six-round bout.

“The NABF lightweight title means the world to me at this point in my career, and defending it is very important. I live for people to call me ‘champ’ and to not have a belt, would mean I didn’t work hard enough to keep it. I can’t let that happen, so I am working tremendously hard to keep this belt, because not just do I want to defend it, but I also want to fight for a world title as well, which means I cannot lose the NABF strap.

The coveted M-1 Challenge lightweight crown is vacant because the last champion, Damir Ismagulov, recently relinquished his title to sign a UFC contract.

 

 

 

Bogatov (6-0-0, M-1: 5-0-0) is a submission master, four of his six pro victories have been by way of choke-outs, because of his dangerous grappling skills and techniques. In his last fight this past June at M-1 Challenge 94, Bogatov earned his title shot by defeating always tough Рауль Tutarauli (18-5-0), whose previous fight was a decision loss to Ismagulov in the latter’s final M-1 Challenge title defense.

All bouts are scheduled for six rounds except Moran-Rodriguez, which is a four round contest.

“We were notified by Coyle’s and Silva’s promoter Fire Fist Boxing Promotions that they have chosen to go a different direction. The Promoter notified the NBA via email in early July. Fire Fist was made aware of champion obligations regarding defense of the belt, resulting in Fire Fist Promotions deciding to voluntarily vacate the titles,” said Damon Gonzales, President of the NBA.

 

 

 

Connor Coyle (8-0, 3 К.О-ийн) from Derry, Ireland won the NBA Intercontinental Middleweight Title against Danny Pastrana on June 16, 2018.

NABF LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE ON THE LINE FOR SEPT 22 SHOWDOWN

Teofimo Lopez shines with 6th round stoppage over William Silva in ESPN co-feature

НЬЮ ЙОРК (ДОЛДуГААр САр 16, 2018)–Teofimo Lopez shined in a major step up bout as he dominated William Silva by scoring a 6th round stoppage in their lightweight bout that was the co-feature on ESPN.

The bout took place on Saturday night at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

In round one, Lopez dumped Silva with a left hook. Silva was bleeding from the nose, Шатанд таван сард, Lopez landed several hard hooks to the bloodied Silva, and then dumped Silva to the canvas in the corner.

Lopez came out in round six by landing three left hooks and a right that dropped Silva and the bout was called at 15 секунд.

Silva who came in with a record of 25-1, and is only loss was to Felix Verdejo on HBO, had never been knocked down before the fighter known as “Gordo” dropped him three times.

Lopez is now 10-0 нь 8 накоут. Silva is 25-2.

Hamazaryan looks to make a big splash, and become a big star in The United States.

JOSH HARVEY TO MAKE LONG-AWAITED RETURN TO MMA CAGE AT NEF 35 IN BANGOR

The fight with Ellis will take place just over 16 months since the last time Harvey did battle in the NEF cage. The former amateur lightweight champion is undefeated thus far in his professional career. Harvey has entered the cage four times in the pro ranks and has finished all four opponents in the first round with two knockouts and two submissions to his credit.
