Matt “Ken-Puppe” Denning (4-6) dauert an Dominic “Domination” Jones (1-0) at a weight of 145-pounds. Both athletes are coming off wins last weekend atNEF 28.

Denning entered the cage six days ago looking to break a four-fight skid. The Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) featherweight worked his ground game and submitted Josh Parker (5-9) with a Guillotine Choke in the first round. He donated a portion of his earnings for the fight to Derek Shorey’s (4-9) family members recently left homeless by a fire in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Denning has now vowed revenge for his teammate, Tollison Lewis (1-6), who fell to Jones last weekend, and he has committed to going undefeated for the remainder of the year.

I’m excited to continue my fighting career with New England Fights,” sagte Denning. “I’m coming for another win against someone who just TKO’d my teammate. He seems like a nice kid and a solid wrestler, but I’m a better striker and have far superior jiu-jitsu! I’m not losing again this year! See you guys 17. Juni.”

After a takedown early in the first round, Dom Jones was able to do exactly what his nickname saysdominateagainst Tollison Lewis last Saturday night atNEF 28.Jones used his wrestling to smother Lewis, defending submission attempts in the process, and pounding a TKO win out of Lewis in the final minute of the first round. The bout was Jonesfirst in Maine after a lengthy amateur career in his previous home state of Florida. Jones predicts that he will be the one walking away with a two-fight win streak on Juni 17.

I’m excited for this match up,” stated Jones. “Wrestling versus jiu-jitsu! Noch einmal, our gyms clash! It’s a good fight for me. Denning has worked to get where he is now, and I respect his work he has put in. I have to fight smart and not get caught. Sowie 17. Juni, when that cage door closes, I’m walking out 2-0! Thank you NEF for having me again.

Hylton’s first four opponents have not lasted a total of six minutes with the Taekwondo black belt. A member of both First Class MMA and Dragon Fire Martial Arts, Hylton won his pro debut over veteran Mike Hansen (5-5) bei “NEF 27” letzten Februar.

I’m really excited about being able to get in the cage again,” said Hylton. “I have the opportunity to get tested by someone outside the circuit, which evokes a real ‘next levelfeeling. NEF is really pulling out all the stops to make 17. Juni a great start to the summer! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Father’s Day, so I intend to relax, unbesiegt, with my kids on Sunday. BELLATOR VETERANS SET TO SQUARE OFF IN LEWISTON

ZUR SOFORTIGEN VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: Lewiston, Maine (Mai 1, 2017) – Between them they have a dozen fights in the Bellator cage. Jetzt, they have signed to face each other in the New England Fights (NEF) hexagon. Strahl “Express-” Holz (8-3) treffen Alexandre “Hintern” Färse (19-5) im Main Event von “NEF 29: STERNE & STREIFEN.” Das Ereignis, which will feature a full slate of mixed-martial-arts and professional boxing bouts, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Juni 17, 2017 am Androscoggin Banküber Colisee in Lewiston, Maine.

This would be a main card fight on any nationally-televised event,” sagte NEF Miteigentümer und Promoter Nick DiSalvo. “It doesn’t get any bigger or better than this on the regional level. This is the kind of fight we love to deliver to the NEF fans.

Wood grew up in Bucksport, Maine and became a top MMA prospect after joining Young’s MMA in Bangor. He was victorious in ten of his first eleven fights over the course of his amateur and early professional careers. Wood’s sole loss during that impressive run came when he moved up to the lightweight division to face a larger Shane Manley (3-3).

It took Wood just over a minute to submit Lenny Wheeler (9-5) bei “NEF 8.” Dabei, Wood became the first NEF Featherweight Champion. He went on to successfully defend the title against tough Brazilian prospect Gabriel Baino (6-2) with a second-round TKO. Months later, Wood would drop the title to Anthony Morrison (20-11) via fifth-round submission.

The next few years would see Wood travel away from Maine to settle first in South Carolina and later Texas. Since leaving Maine, he has been training at some of the top gyms in all of mixed martial arts with world-class athletes, and he has fought for national promotion Bellator three times. Wood’s Bellator debut saw him finish Chris Jones (10-5) in der ersten Runde. He is now looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to AJ McKee, Jr. (8-0) bei Bellator 166 late last year. The fight with Bezerra will be Wood’s first on Maine soil since February 2015.

I’m excited to fight in front of the New England fans once again,” said Wood when reached for comment at his home in Amarillo, Texas. “It’s been way too long. It’s time to get back to where all my success began. The last time I fought in Maine, I left with a loss, and I have no easy task in front of me this time. Alexandre is no joke, and has fought some of the best in the world, and with me coming off back-to-back losses, I have no choice but to have my hand raised by the end of three rounds. I have never lost three straight in anything.

A native of Sao Paolo, Brasilien, Alexandre Bezerra now lives and trains in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he is a member of Daddis Fight Camps. Bezerra holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he is also a teacher of the sport.

Bezerra has nine Bellator bouts under his belt. He competed in both the Season Six and Season Eight featherweight tournaments, making it past the quarterfinal rounds but losing in the semifinals each time. Zuletzt, Bezerra competed for national promotion Titan Fighting Championships in late 2016. Like Wood, Bezerra is looking to bounce back from a loss.
I am very excited to compete for NEF, they are a fantastic organization and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity,” said Bezerra. “My opponent is a tough, up-and-coming prospect, and this should be a great fight. Both of us are looking to finish fights, so the fans are in for a treat!”

Everyone in Maine and New England fight sports knows the talent that is Ray Wood,” erklärte NEF Miteigentümer und Heiratsvermittler Matt Peterson. “He cut his teeth in NEF and after going on to compete in several high-profile Bellator fights, he’s coming back home to where it all began for him. Sein Gegner, a native of Brazil, is a seasoned veteran that has a black belt in jiu-jitsu. Fans can expect to see the highest level of mixed martial arts skill on display in this blockbuster main event.

“Erst einmal, I’d like to thank NEF for having me on another show,” sagte Lewis. “I’d like to thank my team and coacheswe are putting in lots of work preparing for this fight with Dominic. Was meine Gegner, he’s already looking past me. He thinks it will be a walk through. He wants an easy fight for his debut, but it’s not happening. He’s a talented guy, but I’ll have the experience, size, Leistung, striking and BJJ. He’s a very good wrestler, but I’m not worried about being on the ground. This will be a war and I will have my hand raised at the end. Beurteilung, let’s do it babylet’s do the talking in the cage!”

Jones will be making his professional debut, as well as his NEF debut, auf April 29. He got an early start in the martial arts, training Taekwondo with his father at six-years-old. Jones put together an impressive 8-1 record as an amateur while capturing three regional titles. Since moving to New England, Jones has trained at First Class MMA in Brunswick, Maine.

“Ich bin für diesen Kampf aufgeregt,” sagte Jones. “Much respect to Tollison. This is a great fight to kick off my pro debut. I’m training very hard for this bout and I want to show the Maine crowd and NEF who I am! Ryan Glover Ready to Rock at NEF February 11th

Von: Kalle Oakes

ZUR SOFORTIGEN VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: Lewiston, Maine (Februar 9, 2017) – Championships have played a defining role in Ryan Glover’s young life.

That tradition dates back to his junior year at Mountain Valley High School, when Glover achieved the rare double of a team state championship in football and an individual heavyweight wrestling title in the space of three months.

He has continued that tradition as a mixed martial artist, winning the New England Fights light heavyweight amateur strap in only his fourth career foray into the cage.

Growing up in blue-collar Rumford and Mexico also taught Glover that sports aren’t everything, jedoch. That is why his initial title defense against Victor Irwin at “NEF 27: Resurgence” will be his first appearance in the hexagon in 53 Wochen.

Glover-Irwin will headline the amateur segment of an ambitious card Samstag, Februar 11 at Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.

“I was on the road in Florida and Virginia a lot for work all summer and didn’t have time to train with the guys I usually train with,” Glover said. “You have to pay the bills before you can go do this stuff. This is just for fun. I hope (Irwin) knows I’ll be prepared for this one.”

Once the opening bell tolls, Glover (3-1) will have experienced more title bouts in the cage than non-title trials. He also battled in an unforgettable slugfest for the NEF amateur heavyweight belt, one that went to his opponent in that fight by a close but unanimous decision.

His experience is one of the reasons Glover envisions a triumphant return.

“He’s a good athlete, but a young kid who doesn’t have any experience beyond the first round,” Glover said. “When I had my first title fight, that was my first time going into a second round and I was kind of dead in the water at that point.”

Glover won the title with a second round submission via arm lock over Mike Williams.

That rapid ascent through the New England heavyweight ranks so early in his career shouldn’t surprise anyone who has followed Glover’s athletic achievements. He has always been ahead of the usual learning curve.

As a junior on an undefeated 2010 Mountain Valley football powerhouse that featured senior standouts Cam Kaubris and Christian Durland, Glover’s work at linebacker was so impressive that he was named the Lewiston Sun Journal player of the year.

“It helps,” Glover said of his gridiron background. “I’ve seen some of the biggest venues there are when it comes to high school sports.”

State wrestling finals packed in two of Maine’s most hallowed indoor sports facilities – Augusta Civic Center and the old Bangor Auditorium – during Glover’s four years on the mat.

Glover made the jump from the 215-pound class to 285 his sophomore year, even though he tipped the scales far beneath the limit. It was a tradition started by Berserker’s MMA stablemate and fellow NEF star Mike “The Mustache” Hansen about six years earlier.

“Mike was kind of the guinea pig for wrestling against those bigger heavyweights,” Glover said. “That’s the way (Trainer) Gary Dolloff sold it to me. I remember him saying that the reason he decided to try that with me was because Mike had been successful at it. And of course he was right, because we got a state championship out of it.”

Senior year didn’t live up to that junior promise. Illness and injury conspired to keep Glover from defending both the football and wrestling titles.

“I was ranked No. 1 going into my senior year and got sick,"Er sagte. “That just goes to show that sometimes life gets in the way.”

Glover didn’t follow the college track, opting for the work force instead, and it seemed that his sports days were over.

He tried auto racing for a while, then turned to boxing and MMA training to get back in shape. That led to his debut in February 2015, followed quickly by three more cage fights and an amateur boxing match for good measure.

Only when his work commitments returned to the River Valley this past fall did Glover consider getting back into the cage. Family obligations came first, sagte er. And yes, pride in the name he’s made for himself over the years was a factor too.

“It’s definitely a sport where you can get hurt if you try to do it (halfway), especially against an opponent like I’m fighting,” Glover said. “He’s a good athlete. He’s as good at wrestling as I ever was, maybe even better.”

Family and friends in the close-knit, upstart Berserkers camp have Glover better prepared than ever. Ryan’s brother, Matt, also has two NEF appearances to his credit.

“I’ve been rolling with my brother and other guys who are 250 or better,” Glover said. “It’s a game-changer. I feel like I’m lot more of a scrambler than (Irwin) ist. And especially where I’ll be cutting weight to get to 205, I’ll have the strength advantage.”

He might enjoy one other distinct advantage: Fan support.

Name recognition has its privileges. Or perhaps it is a case of Glover’s absence making his fans’ hearts grow fonder. In any case, his fight is shaping as one of the most anticipated attractions at NEF 27.

“Right after I took the fight I sold 50 tickets by myself,” Glover said. “When my song comes on, I know the place is going to blow up. Junge (von Bangor) always brings a big crowd, so we need that support.”

The opening bell for “NEF 27: Resurgence” on February 11 wird eingestellt 7 p.m. Tickets gibt es ab $25 und sind an www.TheColisee.com oder durch Aufrufen der Box Office auf Colisee 207.783.2009, Erweiterung 525.

YOUNG FEMALE ATHLETES LOOK TO MAKE THEIR MARK AT NEF 27

Lewiston, Maine (Dezember 14, 2016) -Neu England Fights (NEF) kehrt zum Androscoggin Bank Colisee zurück Februar 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 27: RESURGENCE.” Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur women’s bout to the card. Alex Walker (2-1) makes her return to Lewiston to take on the debuting Katie Baker (0-0) in a strawweight matchup.

24-year-old Alex Walker has appeared twice previously in the NEF cage. Walker debuted in the spring of 2015 bei “NEF 17against Randi Beth Boyington (1-3). She returned earlier this year to defeat Nicole Burgess (0-1) with a third-round armbar. This past summer, she captured her first regional title on a fight card in Vermont. Walker is a member of Team Kaze based in Lancaster, New Hampshire.

I can’t wait to get back to work in the NEF cage,” exclaimed Walker. “2017 is going to be a good year and I am looking forward to entertaining the great fans in Maine! I can’t think of a better way to start the year. The two times I have fought in Maine, they were both FOTN, looking to Threepeat!”

Katie Baker, an 18-year-old from Gardiner, Maine, might be new to the NEF cage, but she is well-known within martial arts circles in the Pine Tree State. Baker began training in combat sports at the age of five. She won the Isshinryu World Karate Championship in 2009 und 2013, and has been a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for seven years, regularly taking part in local tournaments. Früher in diesem Jahr, Baker began competing in amateur boxing. She currently trains with Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine.

I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to square off against Alex Walker at ‘NEF 27,'said Baker. “I have a high level of respect for Alex and her accomplishments. We’re not taking her lightly, and this is going to be a hell of a fight for my debut.

IT WILL BE CHAMPION VS. CHAMPION ON SEPTEMBER 10 In Lewiston

Lewiston, Maine (August 9, 2016) – In a rare occurrence, two champions from two different weight divisions will square off onSeptember 10, 2016 when New England Fights presents “NEF 25: Helden & VILLAINS” in Lewiston. Reigning NEF MMA Amateur Bantamweight Champion Johnny Handwerk (4-0) will come up in weight to challenge Caleb Halle (7-3) for Hall’s NEF MMA Amateur Featherweight Title.

Caleb Hall was a two-time Maine state champion wrestling for Dirigo High School in Dixfield. He would go on to wrestle for Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, as well as the University of Southern Maine. Bei “NEF 22” this past spring, Hall captured the vacant featherweight title by submitting Erik Nelson (2-3) in der zweiten Runde. In the upcoming bout with Crafts, Hall will be looking to not only retain his title, but to also gain a measure of revenge against Crafts who defeated Hall’s teammate Henry Clark (3-2) letzten Herbst.

Johnny’s making a big mistake coming up in weight trying to take my belt,” said Hall. “I will avenge my teammate, Henry Clark, and put him away early.

Johnny Crafts is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt with Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ). As mentioned, Crafts defeated Henry Clark of the Choi Institute last fall to claim the amateur bantamweight title. Auf September 10, Crafts hopes to make history by becoming the first competitor to simultaneously hold two championships in two different weight divisions.

I’m honestly just excited to get in there and have a brutal, fun fight,” Said Crafts. “It’s going to be a guaranteed war versus Caleb. It’s less focus on cutting weight at 145 for me and more on the training camp. I’m going to be the most technical and strong I have ever been for this fight.

GLOVER VACATES; A NEW LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED AT NEF 25

It was a bitterly cold night in Lewiston last February when Ryan Glover (3-1) won the New England Fights (NEF) Mixed-Martial-Arts- (MMA) amateur light-heavyweight title. The months to come would see Glover accept a new job that would take him up and down the East Coast. With little time to train to defend the title, and in the interest of doing right by the division, Glover recently made the difficult decision to relinquish the championship.

NEF executives were quick to act. Bereits heute Morgen, the fight promotion announced that Victor Irwin (2-0) would meet Nick Shea (2-0) to fill the vacancy. The two undefeated athletes are scheduled to face-off to determine a new light-heavyweight champion at “NEF 25: Helden & VILLAINS” aufSeptember 10, 2016 in Lewiston.

Irwin was a standout wrestler at Brewer High School in Brewer, Maine at 195-pounds where he was a Class-A state champion. His love for the sport is so strong that when Irwin attended Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) and learned the school did not have a wrestling program, he created one himself. As a college freshman in 2014 Irwin went to Nationals and achieved All-American status. He currently trains out of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine.

I’ve thought a lot about this fight and I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what I say,” said Irwin, “it matters what I do, und kommen 10. Septemberyou’re gonna see some serious doing.

2015 was a great start to the MMA career of Nick Shea. In February of that year, he won his debut fight over the much more experienced Jacob Cameron (1-5) über die erste Runde durch technischen Ko. Later in the year, Shea would go on to defeat Ruben Redman (0-1) by decision in a hard-fought contest. It would earn Shea a nomination for the “Rookie des Jahres” in der 2015 NEF Year-End Awards. Auf September 10 in Lewiston, Shea will attempt to become the first member of the First Class MMA fight team to capture gold in the NEF cage.

It’s an honor to fight someone from Young’s MMA,” said Shea. “I believe this will be my biggest test in the cage to date. I’m grateful and excited to compete for the amateur light heavyweight title. Victor and I will put on an exciting fight on Samstag, 10. September!”

New England Fights 'nächste Veranstaltung, "NEF 25: Helden & VILLAINS,” takes place on Saturday, September 10, 2016 an der Androscoggin Banküber Colisée in Lewiston, Maine.
