Los Angeles (July 2, 2025) -- It’s “Scrappy Time” again!

For the first time in 2025, charismatic super flyweight contenderJohn “Scrappy” Ramirez (15-1, 9 KOs) returned to the ring on last Saturday’s DAZN Pay-Per-View event, presented by MVP Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, and headlined by YouTuber turned boxerJake “The Problem Child” Paul(12-1, 7 KOs) ka dhanka ahJulio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KOs) at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Henderson pulled out of the fight last Wednesday night, Morales accepted the fight Thursday evening after the event’s final press conference.

“I trusted the process,” Ramirez explained. “It was emotional when my original opponent pulled out of the fight so late and I didn’t know if I’d be fighting. I’m happy I got the fight, even if I had to open the show, because I’ve learned to embrace the opportunity. I trained to fight a 5’ 2”, righty and fought a southpaw. I was comfortable, regardless, because I prepare at camp for anything that may happen. I wanted the fight and gave him (Morales) two passes on weight. He was coming in heavy; si, we agreed to fight at a 120-pound catchweight. Before he stepped on the scale, he said he weighed 121.6. I didn’t want him to be fined for coming in overweight because he was doing me a favor by taking the fight. I respect him for taking the fight on late notice and we changed the contract to 121.6. Nothing changed for me other than the opponent and opening the preliminaries. Time is money, and I wanted everything I had done to count like camp (expenses), resources I used, mileage on my body. Everything happens for a reason. There are six months left in 2025, and my goal is to have two more fights.”

The 29-year-old Ramirez is world rated at No. 1 in WBA ah, iyo sidoo kale No. 12 iyo No. 15, siday u kala horreeyaan, by Boxing Adduunka Council (WBC) and WBO.Fernando Daniel Martinez (16-0, 9 KOs), of Argentina, is the reigning WBA Super Flyweight World Champion, David Jimenez (17-1, 11 KOs) remains the WBA Interim Champion.

“I’m back where I left off (Ha. 1 darajada),” Ramirez said. “After my last fight I was No. 2, ‘Chocolatito’ (Roman Gonzalez) was on top. And before this coming fight, I wanted to go up to No. 1 ka dibna, a little while ago, I saw that I was back at No. 1. It’s a good feeling to have put myself back where I was. At this point, I have power and leverage. They may want me to fight a rematch with Jimenez, who is still the (WBA) Interim champion but we’ll see how everything plays out. If I get the opportunity to fight ‘Chocolatito’ or ‘Bam’ (WBC world championJessie Rodriguez), I’d do that if it makes sense.”

Fighting out of South Central Los Angeles, “Scrappy” hasn’t fought since last December 14th when he decisioned previously undefeatedEphraim Bui (10-0) by tiro 97-93 saddex jeer. In Ramirez’ previous fight in April of 2024, “Scrappy” had suffered the lone loss of his pro career to Jimenez for the WBA Interim Super Flyweight crown.

“I’m hungry! I feel like I’ve been locked up in a cage. I’m happy to be back to the spot I had before.,” Ramirez continued. ”I’m ignoring distractions and continue to work on my craft and self-discipline. I know my opportunity (world title shot) will come. Even when I didn’t know who my opponent would be or even if I’d fight (Saturday this), I just let that go and kept training hard to keep improving.

“Everything is based on my confidence. Waxaan weli barashada shaqada. I like to compare it to when I played football, my level of confidence, because I knew what that was all about for me. I’ve gained that same level of experience in the ring, when to or when not to do something that I’ve learned through my experiences. Going back to December 14th, I was coming off my only loss eight months earlier, and it’s been six months since my last fight. I kept on the right path, and now I have my old football comfort and understanding. People compared me with fighters who’ve fought their whole lives, but I didn’t make my pro debut until December of 2020. I started late (ee feerka) and I’m still learning and figuring things out.”

Illeen, ‘Scrappy’ has been an adaptive learner who resents being called by some as ahyped-up fighter, primarily because of his commitment and sacrifices he’s made to be the all-around fighter he has become.

“I know I have the skills to be world champion,” Ramirez concluded. “I like to fight and prove people wrong. I train to learn how to perform better. I’m in a great spot. I know I need to keep winning and that my opportunity will come. I’m only really thinking about this fight as I glimpse a little into my future.”

It’s “Scrappy Time” again and the dynamic super flyweight is closing in on his world title.

Guadalajara, Mexico (March 30, 2021) – It is Official!! — The Legend Anderson Silva has agreed to fight Julio Chavez Jr. in “Tribute to the Kings” in a boxing match on Saturday June 19th to be broadcast on Pay Per View in North America.

Anderson Silva, considered by many to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time, will take on former WBC Middleweight Champion of the world Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in a boxing match on June 19th at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. Silva of Curitiba Brazil was the longest reigning middleweight Champion for the UFC and compiled a record of 34 victories with 11 losses and 23 stunning knockouts. His boxing record is 13 - 1. Chavez, Jr. ayaa heysta rikoor ah 52-5-1 la 34 group.

“When I look back at my journey, I see that nothing has been in vain!
I am extremely happy for the opportunity to test my boxing skills with Julio César Chávez Jr. I train continuously, always am striving for resilience and to overcome obstacles. Fighting is my everlasting breath,” said Silva.

Quebec CITY (December 1, 2018) – Adonis Stevenson’s five-and-a-half-year reign as the WBC Light Heavyweight Champion is over. Oleksandr Gvozdyk dethroned boxing’s longest reigning champion with a devastating 11th round knockout Saturday in Quebec City in a SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION telecast that immediately preceded the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury SHOWTIME PPV.

 

 

 

Gvozdyk (16-0, 13 KOs) used a powerful multi-punch combination in the penultimate round to put the back-and-forth bout out of question. The former Olympic bronze medalist and amateur teammate of fellow Ukrainians Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk was impressive throughout the entire fight. He executed trainer Teddy Atlas’ game plan to perfection and was the busier of the two fighters. Stevenson (29-2-1, 24 KOs), who was making his 10th horyaalka, was able to land his signature left hand on several occasions, most notably in the tenth round, but never did enough to truly trouble his opponent.

 

 

 

“This win means everything to me. I’ve trained my whole life for this and tonight all of the hard work was worth it,” said Gvozdyk, who was the mandatory challenger for Stevenson. “Having Teddy [Atlas] in my corner was a huge help. The December 1 SHOWTIME PPV and COUNTDOWN LIVE presentations feature two of the most feared knockout punchers in the sport. The Montreal-based southpaw will face his WBC-mandated challenger in Gvozdyk (15-0, 12 KOs), a Ukrainian with 12 group in uu 15 professional fights since a standout amateur career that included a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics.

 

 

 

In Gvozdyk, Stevenson will face his second consensus top-10 light heavyweight of 2018, following his Fight of the Year candidate draw with Badou Jack in May on SHOWTIME. Gvozdyk, an amateur teammate of fellow Ukrainians Vasyl Lomachenko and Oleksandr Usyk, earned the mandatory status with a near-shutout decision over Mehdi Amar in March.

Chavez, Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) is the son of Mexican boxing legend and Hall of Famer Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. The 32-year-old from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico ripped off 46 straight victories to start his career using a gritty boxing style that denoted his toughness in the ring. Chavez is seeking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on May 6, 2017.

 

 

 

The 36-year-old Angulo (24-7, 20 KOs) is a tough brawler who has faced some of the best boxers in the sport. Angulo, who lives in Coachella, California but was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, is coming off a hard-fought split decision loss to former world champion Sergio Mora in April.
