Brand-New IBF Junior Featherweight Champion Jonathan Guzman to be Ringside Friday at Foxwoods

IBF Junior Featherweight Champion Jonathan “Salomon Eze” Guzman (22-0, 22 Kos) won’t be taking any time to rest on his newly acquired laurels.
The Dominican KO artist won his first world championship yesterday (Wednesday, July 20) by stopping former #1 contender Shingo Wake in 11 brutal rounds in Osaka, Japan. Guzman’s power was simply too much for Wake, who fell four times before the end came at 2:16 from merciful referee Wayne Hedgpeth.
The iron-fisted Dominican could easily spend the rest of the summer celebrating the victory, but has no intention to do so.
He is quickly flying home from Japan in order to be ringside echi (Friday, July 22) na Foxwoods Resort na Mashantucket, Connecticut, to watch San Antonio’s Adam Lopez face Argentina’s Roman Ruben Reynoso on ShoBox: The New Ọgbọ.
Guzman’s intention is to face the winner of that fight in his first title defense.
His promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz nke Sampson Boxing, says Guzman’s victory has only created a new mission for the Dominican slugger.
He wants to clean out the division now,” kwuru Lewkowicz. “We told him to enjoy the victory for himself and his country, but he wants to go right back to work. That is the determination and love for what he does that has made him an undefeated champion with a perfect knockout record. I congratulate him for his first world title and for his commitment to be a true world champion.

DOMINICAN KO ARTIST GUZMAN READY FOR FIRST WORLD TITLE SHOT

IBF #2 super bantamweight contender Jonathan “Salomon Eze” Guzman (21-0, 21 Kos) is hard at work preparing for thefight of his lifewith trainer Hector Bermudez at Peter Welch’s Gym in Boston.
The 26-year-old KO artist from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will face IBF #1 contender Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 Kos) na Wednesday, July 20, at EDION Arena Osaka in Osaka, Japan, for the vacant IBF World super bantamweight title.
Guzman, who stopped Mexico’s tough Daniel Rosas in eighth round on April 29 to earn this fight, says his dreams are so close to coming true he can almost taste them. “I have waited my whole life for a world title fight and now it’s almost here,” said Guzman. “I can’t wait to get in the ring and win for my family and my country.
Trainer Bermudez says Guzman has too many weapons to fall short in this fight. “Although Jonathan has never had to go the distance because his power is amazing, he can also box very well. He’s just never had to thus far in his career. Jonathan is the complete package and soon the world will be learning all about him. There is no way that Wake can beat him.

Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz Ordered to Begin Negotiating Guzman vs. Wake Fight for Vacant IBF Super Bantamweight Title

Sampson Boxing Fighters Score Four Impressive KOs in One Weekend
Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has been given the go-ahead to begin negotiating a world-title fight between his fighter, explosive KO punching Dominican Jonathan Guzman, and the promoters for Japan’s Shingo Wake.
As per their rules for vacant championships, Lewkowicz, representing Guzman, the IBF #2 ibu bantamweight, and Kyoei Promotions representing IBF #1 Wake were ordered to begin negotiations immediately and have them completed no later than June 2 nke afọ a.
Guzman (21-0, 21 Kos) is hot on the heels of a sensational eight-round stoppage victory over Daniel Rosas last Friday, April 29, na Atlantic City, in a voluntary eliminator for the #2 spot in the ratings.
Wake (20-4-2, 12 Kos) earned his number one spot by scoring a unanimous decision victory over Thailand’s Mike Tawatchai last June.
Also per IBF rules neither boxer may compete in another match until they face each other.
Any boxer who is contracted with a promoter, a network, or a state, tribal or national commission to take another fight, or who is ill, injured, under a legal impediment which could prevent the bout from taking place in the opinion of the IBF/USBA, or on suspension at the time the Championships Chairman and the President order a bout under this rule shall be considered unavailable. We would then move to the next available contender. Neither fighter can take another fight until this fight for the vacant title is concluded.
In the event the camps cannot reach an agreement by June 2, the IBF will call for purse offers to be held to determine who will promote the bout, when and where it will be held.
The Guzman vs. Wake fight is more good news for Sampson Boxing, who had four different fighters score sensational victories over the weekend.
In addition to the aforementioned Guzman TKO, Sampson Boxing’s Jorge “Nku ahu oji n'aka” Lara scored a jaw-dropping KO 1 over former world champion Fernando Montiel at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, na satọde. Lara had the formidable Montiel on the deck four times in a brutal beatdown that only lasted 1:37.
The same night in the same venue, future world champion and boxing prodigy DavidEl Bandera Roja/Red FlagBenavidez destroyed capable New Yorker Phillip Jackson Benson by KO 2. Benavidez, ugbu a 14-0, 13 Kos, had way too much firepower for Jackson, who entered the ring a respectable 16-2, 15 Kos. Ọgwụgwụ wee na 2:07 with Jackson down and ruled unable to continue without a count being needed. A star on the near horizon in boxing, high network demand means that Benavidez will be back in action in July.
And in his professional debut na Fraịdee n'abalị, on the Guzman undercard in Atlantic City, highly decorated amateur star Abraham “Super” Nova turned professional the right way by levelling Delaware’s also debuting Weusi Johnson by KO 1.
Nova, of Braintree, Massachusetts, began his professional career undefeated by putting Weusi to sleep at 2:56 nke mbụ.
I am looking forward to getting my superstar KO artist Jonathan Guzman his first title shot later this year,” Kwurula Sampson Lewkowicz. “And I give my congratulations to all my other fighters who won by knockout this past weekend. Jorge Lara is back in a big way and headed for a world championship after beating Montiel. David Benavidez is going to become the youngest Mexican super middleweight champion in boxing history and Abraham Nova let the world know he’s here with his power punching. I am proud to be promoting every one of these fighters.

Lee ebe a ihe ndị sonyere nwere ikwu Wednesday:
Danny O'Connor
“A niile bụ ihe m na-alụ ọgụ usoro. Gabriel Bracero beat me but I really beat myself. Just like training for this fight, we had a baby son. Two weeks before our first fight, my first son was born and I didn’t know how to separate sport from such life-changing events. M bụ 14-0 na-alụ ọgụ na Showtime. We just had a baby boy two weeks before this fight. I want to prove to myself that I can beat this process. Bracero is my redemption!
“A agha bụ m vs. m. The time was right for this fight. I was offered this fight five times during the past few years but the time wasn’t right.
I was a scared little kid with no experience in our first fight. I couldn’t handle the pressure, I didn’t even know it was there. Ugbu a, I’m a mature man who is a husband and father. I’m a totally different person.
This fight could be in my living room. I’m at peace in the ring doing what I love to do. It’s great being back in the ring in Lowell, ebe m ndibọhọ New England Golden uwe aha na m na-alụ ọgụ na mba TV, ma ihe omume bụ n'etiti nkuku anọ na nke ahụ bụ ihe dị mkpa n'ezie.”
Gabriel BRACERO
“Obi dị m anụrị. I’ve trained for this fight like I’ve never fought Danny before. I beat him but that was four years ago. I can’t overlook him. He has obviously made improvements and I did also to get where we are today.
“M ọzọ ahụmahụ. I moved to train in Orlando and get away from distractions. I hit a few bumps and got incarcerated. Tommy Gallagher (ọzụzụ) saved my lie. He was there when I went to prison and there when I got out. I added a new trainer to our corner, Alexander Lopes, ma Tommy na nna m, Kiro, are still there. Tommy gives the orders and he likes what Lopez has done with me.
Tommy Gallagher is my guardian angel. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. He had this vision before I did.
Danny has become a better fighter. Enweghị m ike iri ihe ọ bụla na ya, ma na m na-atụ anya na-etinye on a ikpọ arụmọrụ Saturday n'abalị.”
JONATHAN GUZMAN
“M na-aga-eme ka ọ 20 na-20, ee! I’m powerful because I make strong moves. My left hook is my best punch. M nwere ike na-eche na ike site na m dum ahu mgbe m kụrụ o nri.
“M echegbula banyere m iro ma ọ bụ ihe ọ na-mere n'oge gara aga.
Lawrence is my home now. I will go back to the Dominican Republic in December for the holidays. I feel like a Bostonian. This is the sixth fight I’ve trained here for and I love the Boston Red Sox.
Danny AQUINO
“My ikpeazụ agha propelled m (iwe iwe site mkpebi n'elu Ryan Kielczweski). It made me more confident in myself. My ikpeazụ agha bụ na ESPN na onye a bụ na NBCSN.
I don’t know too much about my opponent other than he has power that I’ll be looking out for. A win over him should put me in the top 10 na nke ahụ bụ mere m kpaliri n'ihi na nke a ọgụ.
“M ndibọhọ New England Golden uwe egwuregwu na Lowell Memorial n'Ụlọ Mgbakọ na 2007.
“M ịzụ ike na m mgbe niile na mma udi iti onye ọ bụla.”
Ryan KIELCZWESKI
I like fighting at home and this is one of my favorite venues. I won the New England Golden Gloves there twice.
“M na-azụ n'ihi na nke a na-toughest ọgụ nke ọrụ m.
“(Vasquez) is tough with a lot of power. He’s going come forward, ma m ga-enwe ike si-igbe ya.
“Ọ na-gosiri na top 10 nke ụwa na a mmeri ga-etinye m azụ na n'elu 10 na-alụ ọgụ maka ụwa aha n'ime ọzọ afọ.”
Rafael VASQUEZ
“Nke a bụ oké ohere maka m. I think this fight will put me on the map fighting on national TV and showing fans what I’ve got.
“M a agụụ na-agụ, small fighter determined to win. I fight for my wife, Sandra, onye nwere ogbo-anọ cancer na m asatọ-afọ nwa, Kaline, who has autism. It’s not just me fighting in the ring, it’s the Vasquez family. With God’s grace, ihe ọ bụla bụ na o kwere omume.
“Ryan na-akpali a otutu. He uses the ring and boxes. He lost to Aquino and I know he’ll be coming back to prove himself. “
Gary “Ọgọ” O'SULLIVAN
Boston is my second home. I love it here. The people are so nice and there are good gyms.
“M na-akpali akpali, ụtọ fighter onye mgbe nile na-abịa ọgụ.
“Mgbe m gwụsịa Eubanks, M ga-Ọ dịghị. 1 contender na WBA na Golovkin apụghị jide m ka m ọ bụla ogologo.
I watched a few clips of my opponent. We have identical records. We both knock people out, so I have to be careful. I’d like to get in a few rounds, ma mgbe m kụrụ ndị, ha na-ada.”
Stivin ORMOND
My first four fights were here in the US. Boston is like my second home. The people are so nice. Boston is a real fight city. I can’t wait for these people to see me in the ring.
I saw my opponent fight last year in Boston. He’s an experienced guy with a lot of fights. He fought for a world title a long time ago.
“Na Ken Casey n'azụ m, an impressive victory will get me a title shot. I’ll take any of them. M bụ otu agha pụọ, losing a qualifier. My grandmother passed away the day of my fight. I’m ready now!”
