The World Boxing Organization (WBO), chaired by Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Bealtaine 12.

 

 

 

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 KO s), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 KO s). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, Nua-Eabhrac. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. AGUS.

 

 

 

“We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 KO s) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 KO s) of Miass, Rúis.

SAN DIEGO, CALIF.- Bealtaine 7, 2016 – Anthony Crolla scored a stunning 7th round stoppage over Ismael Barroso to retain his WBA Lightweight title at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, Sasana.

Crolla jumped on Barroso and landed a tremendous flurry of punches that put Barroso on the canvas for the ten count.

It was the second straight stunning knockout for Crolla on AWE–A Wealth of Entertainment as he won his title with a knockout over Darleys Perez in November.

Crolla is now 31-4-3 le 13 knockouts. Barroso is 19-1-2.

Pulev is 23-1. Chisora is 25-6.

Shayne Singleton stopped Anwil Anwar in round eight of their ten round welterweight contest.

Singleton looked like he was going to make it a quick and easy night as he dropped Anwar in round one from a left hook. Anwar was able to steady himself and have success over the next handful of rounds by getting in some good right hands. With the fight being on an even level, Singleton landed a big left that sent Anwar down in round eight. Anwar was clearly hurt, and Singleton jumped all over him and the fight was quickly stopped at 1:37 of round right.

Tommy Coyle (22-3) won a decision over Reynaldo Mora (7-13-1) in a super lightweight bout via referee score of 59-55.

Canada’s Tony Luis Disappointed in Scoring of Controversial Loss, but Vows to Keep Fighting for his Goals!

Canadian lightweight Tony “Lightning” Luis (19-3, 7 Kos) says he’s disappointed with the scoring of his controversial unanimous-decision loss last weekend to Derry Mathews (38-9-2, 20 Kos) for the interim WBA Lightweight title in Matthews’ hometown of Liverpool, Sasana, but won’t let it deter him from his goals.

Despite taking the fight on three days’ Fógra, Luis seemed to outwork Matthews in most rounds and would probably be wearing a championship belt today, had the fight been contested on neutral ground. Despite his disappointment in the scoring, Luis says taking the fight was still a good career choice. “It was absolutely the right decision. You don’t turn down a title shot. But taking it on three days’ Fógra, we knew we’d have to shake off the jetlag quickly. My game plan was good, but on such short notice, it wasn’t muscle memory. I had to keep thinking about it in the ring. That’s why I think it took me three rounds to get going. Despite all this, I still won the fight. Now I know I belong among the champions in this division and that’s a good feeling.”

Luis will be returning to action quickly, he is set to fight for a regional title against an opponent TBA on Meitheamh 26 at the Seneca Niagara Event Center in Niagara Falls, Nua-Eabhrac, and live on CBS Sports Network.

“I’m a bit discouraged from the politics,” Lean Luis, “but am I deterred from my goals? Absolutely not. The people have spoken, the fans know who won and that is consolation for me. I will keep moving forward!”

Tony Luis to Face Derry Matthews for World Championship this Saturday in England; Ismael Barroso now Fighting Ira Terry on CBS in Hinckley, MN Dé hAoine

Ar Dé Sathairn, Aibreán 18, Corn na Breataine, Ontario’s Tony “Lightning” Luis (19-2, 7 Kos) will now face UK veteran Derry Matthews (37-9-2, 20 Kos) for the Interim WBA Lightweight Championship at the Echo Arena in Matthews’ hometown of Liverpool, Sasana, as the main event of a night of boxing presented by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions.
