WORLD-CLASS HEAVYWEIGHTS VYING FOR THE RIGHT TO FACE ANTHONY JOSHUA VS. ALEXANDER POVETKIN WINNER FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Na Sobota, Říjen 27, “Fire & Fury” will collide, as IBF #2-rated heavyweight contender Kubrat “The Cobra” Pulev will face Britain’s IBF #5-rated Hughie Fury in a 12-round elimination bout at the Arena Armeec in Pulev’s hometown of Sofie, Bulharsko.

 

 

 

Pulev (25-1, 13 KO) and Fury (21-1, 11 KO) will be competing for the right to face the winner of the September 22 showdown between champion Anthony Joshua a challenger Alexander Povetkin.

 

 

 

Událost, entitled “Oheň & Vztek” will be presented by Ivaylo Gotzev and John Wirt’s Epic Sports and Entertainment, together with Fury’s promoter, Hennessey Sports, and will be broadcast live in the UK on Channel 5.

 

 

 

One of the most popular athletes in all of Bulgaria, 37-year-old Pulev is on a five-fight winning streak, including a TKO 3 over former heavyweight champion Samuel Peter. Among his many distinctions, Pulev is a former two-time European and IBF International Heavyweight Champion. He stands 6’ 4 ½” and weighs in around 240 lbs. Pulev’s only career loss came in a challenge for the undisputed heavyweight championship against Wladimir Klitschko v 2014. Fury is the fourth opponent scheduled to face Pulev, as Britain’s Dillian Whyte and Americans Jarell Miller a Dominic Breazeale all declined the fight.

 

 

 

Pulev, who will be having his first bout since partnering with Epic Sports and Entertainment, says Fury better not be looking past him while preparing for this fight.

 

 

 

“The fact that Hughie Fury is coming to Bulgaria when many others ran away speaks volumes,” said Pulev. “I understand that he is very motivated because this is an eliminator fight for a chance at the world title. I suggest he stops thinking about the world title for a moment and come prepared for a real battle. I am already in beast mode and I’m hungry for my return in the ring!"

 

 

 

Fury hails from Manchester and is the current BBBofC British Heavyweight Champion and is trained by his father, Peter Fury. The 23-year-old stands 6’ 6” tall and also weighs in around 240 lbs. In September of 2017, Fury suffered his only career loss, a controversial majority decision to Joseph Parker for Parker’s WBO Heavyweight Championship.

 

 

 

“It’s taken a lot of time to make this fight happen and I want to thank all of those involved,” said Hughie Fury. “I want to fight for world titles and to do that I need to beat the guys at the top of the division. Kubrat Pulev is a serious fight for the mandatory position and I know I’ve got to be the real deal to beat him. I believe I’m going to do that in his back yard where others trembled at the thought of it.”

 

 

 

“We want to be involved in these big fight nights and to go up against the big names that lead the division,” added father and trainer Peter Fury. “To become a world heavyweight champion, you’ve got to overcome every challenge that’s put in front of you. Philly Heavyweight Joey Dawejko Puts UK Olympian Joe Joyce on Blast for Taking Easier Fight

After being stepped over as Joe Joyce’s next opponent, Philadelphia fan favorite Joey Dawejko is calling out the highly touted UK-based heavyweight for taking the easy road.

 

 

 

Since turning professional, Joyce, the outspoken 2016 Olympic Super-Heavyweight Silver Medal Winner and now Commonwealth (Britská Říše) Šampion v těžké váze, has made a habit of publicly calling out the division’s top contenders and champions.

 

 

 

But Dawejko says Joyce’s antics may be just for show, and in reality, his representatives are very protective of their charge.

 

 

 

Dawejko (19-5-4, 11 KO) says he was offered and accepted the opportunity to face Joyce (5-0, 5 KO) on the undercard of former welterweight champions Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter’s Saturday, Září 8, showdown at the Barclays Center – only to find out Joyce had instead chosen to face Ohio’s Devin Vargas.

“I got the call the other day from my manager saying we had an offer to fight him and we accepted,” explained Dawejko, “then I found out he took an easier fight. I’m kind of pissed off about it because it was a good opportunity for me. They chose the safe route because they’re definitely protecting him. They talk a good game, but at the end of the day they just want easy fights.”

 

 

 

Dawejko says exposing Joyce would have given him the chance to finally break through to the upper echelon.

 

 

 

“They’re building this guy like he’s something special and he’s not. I see nothing special about him. He has size, ale to nevadí,. I don’t think he’s as good as people are making him out to be. I could definitely beat him. He’s big and slow and gets hit a lot and his defense isn’t there. I know I could beat him.”

“Poslední dva a půl roku jsem byl v Las Vegas. Toto místo mi změnilo život. Přišel jsem sem a začal trénovat s Ismaelem Salasem, který vychoval mnoho nejlepších kubánských boxerů. Je tady tak dobrý sparing, a jsou tam i hory. Miluji běhání na Mount Charleston. Tohle je prostě ideální místo pro trénink bojovníka.”

 

Jak se připravujete čelit takovému jihu jako Cesar Barrionuevo??

“Zápasíme s leváky a snažíme se zrcadlit přesně to, co si myslíme, že uvidíme. Argentinští bojovníci vždy přijedou bojovat a jsou dobře připraveni. Vždy jdou do války. Naštěstí také rád chodím na vojnu. Takže si myslím, že máme dobré styly, které dají fanouškům velký boj.”

 

Co ještě víte o svém soupeři??

“Viděl jsem nějaké záběry a to je vše. Ve skutečnosti to není o tom, co dělá nebo přináší, jde o to soustředit se na to, co umím nejlépe. Neberu si moc volna, takže pořád trénuju v posilovně. Před několika týdny jsem odjel do Miami a skutečně jsem trénoval v Barrionuevově posilovně a potkal jsem pár kluků, se kterými pracuje., ale nikdy jsme se nezkřížili.”

 

Vracíte se podruhé bojovat na SHOWTIME. Dává vám to výhodu?

“Každý, kdo zná box, ví, že jsem zkušenější bojovník. Toto je jeden z jeho prvních zápasů mimo Argentinu. Vím, že je tam velký, ale takovou scénu ještě neviděl, se všemi jasnými světly. Budu připraven na nejlepšího argentinského bojovníka, který se tu noc ukáže.”

 

Jaká je vaše předpověď zápasu Garcia-Porter??

“Myslím, že jsou to dva skvělí bojovníci a ten, kdo je na tu noc nejvíce připravený, zápas vyhraje. Protože se jedná o eliminátor WBC, Vím, že je šance, že bych mohl bojovat s jedním z nich, pokud svůj boj vyhraju. Rád bych bojoval s každým z nich.”

Jak probíhá tvůj tréninkový kemp v Miami a s kým jsi zápasil??

“Technicky, všechno je silné as mými trenéry Carlosem [Morgan] a Pablo [Martinez] máme dobrý pocit z toho, kde jsme a co děláme. chci být 100 procent připravena v září 8 za boj mého života. Cítím, že budu a jsem tak vděčný za podporu svého týmu a všech zde v Caicedo Sports’ tělocvična. Byl jsem sparring s partou místních vyhlídek, mladí kluci s neporaženými rekordy a kluci, kteří jsou na stejné lodi jako já se chci stát mistrem světa.”

 

Jak se připravujete na agresivního bojovníka jako je Ugas?

“Formuluji svůj plán a zintenzivňuji svůj trénink, takže jsem 100 procent ready. Zaměřuji se na své kardio a zvyšuji svou sílu. Proto jsem tady v U.S., protože úroveň soutěže je lepší než doma. Cítím, že všechno, co dělám, je krok nahoru. Mám za sebou nejlepší tréninkový kemp svého života. O soupeře se nebojím’ styl.”

 

Co víte o svém soupeři??

“Shlédli jsme nějaký film, ale ne vždy vám to pomůže. V případě potřeby budou provedeny úpravy ve zlomku sekundy. Na konci dne jsem bojovník, a bude připraven na vše, co přede mě postaví. Nikdy jsem se s ním nesetkal, ale vím, že přišel a cvičil u mě v tělocvičně. neznám ho, ale možná po boji můžeme být přátelé. Právě teď je to zabít nebo být zabit.”

 

Co si myslíte o boji na velkém pódiu v Barclays Center??

“Vím, že mám v Argentině obrovskou fanouškovskou základnu a nemůžu se dočkat, až se tam vrátím a oslavím s nimi vítězství. Jsem tak hrdý na všechny minulé mistry světa, kteří přišli z mé země, ale nepřijedu do Brooklynu jako turista. Přicházím bojovat a získat vítězství velkolepým způsobem a vrátit Argentinu zpět na mapu v boxu. Cílem je vypadat dobře a vyhrát a zanechat dobrý dojem z boje na SHOWTIME a pro každého, kdo se dívá.”

Jaká je vaše předpověď zápasu Garcia-Porter??

“je to těžký boj. Možná 50-50, ale já se přikláním k Dannymu Garciovi. Myslím, že se ukáže jeho zkušenost mistra světa.”

 

Je těžké nedívat se dopředu na možný budoucí boj s jedním z těch kluků??

“Nepřemýšlel jsem o tom ani vteřinu. Soustředím se na svůj další úkol, a to je Ugas. Přicházím udělat to, co je potřeba udělat, abych vyhrál. A tu výhru dostanu krví, pot a slzy. Až přijde čas, zaměřím se na Dannyho Garciu nebo Shawna Portera.”

BELFAST (Srpen 18, 2018) – Former two-division world champion Carl Frampton knocked out Luke Jackson to retain his interim featherweight title Saturday at Windsor Park in Belfast in a doubleheader that streamed live on SHOWTIME Sports social platforms.

 

 

 

In the opening bout of SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL, lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shut out Francesco Pianeta to line up a 2018 showdown with WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder.

 

 

 

An encore presentation will air in primetime tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT na Showtime Extreme®.

 

 

 

Frampton (26-1, 15 KO) turned in an impressive performance and scored his first knockout as a featherweight in what was a “dream” homecoming fight at the home of Northern Irish football. Greg Cohen Promotions Signs Undefeated Canadian Heavyweight Champion Mladen ‘Monster’ Miljas to a Promotional Contract

Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions proudly announces the signing of Canadian Heavyweight Champion Mladen “Monster” Miljas to a promotional contract.

 

 

 

Undefeated Miljas, a perfect 8-0, 8 KO, stands an impressive 6’ 6” and weighs in around 240 lbs. The 25-year-old Mississauga, Ontario, native won the Canadian title last December with an upset two-round stoppage of long-time champion Dillon Carman.

 

 

 

Cohen, a well-established promoter in the sport, has worked with several world champions and gained a reputation for finding hidden gems like Miljas in boxing’s less-travelled areas.

 

 

 

“It feels great to sign with a real promoter,” said Miljas. “For a long time, I didn’t have anyone arranging my fights, so it feels really good having someone on my team now. I’d like to be active and fight every month if I can.”

 

 

 

Having had just 20 amatérské zápasy (17-3) and eight pro fights, Miljas is still a work in progress, despite being national champion in a country that has produced several world champions including Matthew Hilton, Donny Lalonde and George Chuvalo. Canada is also where several other champions learned to box, including Arturo Gatti and Lennox Lewis.

 

 

 

“I did martial arts, starting when I was four and got in a lot of fights as a kid, so it comes naturally," vysvětlil. “I’ve always been a hard puncher. The former IBF, WBA and WBO champion Fury (26-0, 19 KO) returned to the ring in June and will fight for the second time in less than 75 days following a nearly three-year layoff. Prior to his extended hiatus, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 léta.

 

 

 

Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KO), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015.

“Southpaws are a lot more awkward because there’s less of them in the division. You don’t get too much work with southpaws other than when you’re fighting with them. It’s hard to get southpaws to spar in training because there aren’t many heavyweight southpaws around the world. But I do have one interesting fact, every southpaw amateur or professional I’ve ever faced I’ve knocked out. That’s not good for Francesco.

 

 

 

“To be a two-time heavyweight champion is all right. It’s not great because there’s been plenty. To be a three-time heavyweight champion, it’s been done before. So I think I want to set a precedent of being a five-time heavyweight champion without losing a fight. That’s my goal. I always aim for the stars and set big targets.

 

 

 

“If I can beat Francesco Pianeta on Saturday night, I’ve beaten another boxer. Big deal. But if he beats me, he’s going on to something very big. It would be life-changing for him. It I can’t beat Francesco, then I’m going nowhere.

 

 

 

“I think I’m the greatest heavyweight that’s ever been born, so I should handle Francesco Pianeta. And whoever else is out there, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, all the bums out there.
