Greg Cohen Promotions Signs Streaking Bantamweight Contender Elton Dharry to a Promotional Contract

Greg Cohen Promotions proudly announces the signing of IBF #14-rated bantamweight Elton Dharry to a promotional contract.
Dharry (20-5-1, 13 KOs) got off to a slow start in his career, losing five times and drawing once in his first nine. Jedoch, since then, he is undefeated in 17 consecutive fights, dating all the way back to 2010.
Während dieser Zeit, 30-year-old Dharry has picked up the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) and Guyanese Bantamweight Championships, as well as the IBF Inter-Continental Bantamweight title from then 12-1-1 Jose Rios.
Early on in my career, I was not really with the right team and the judges never really got it right, so it made me look like a fighter I’m not,” explained Dharry of his slow start. “I know most people would quit and walk away, but I had the self-belief and determination to come back and become something. I changed my team to (Ausbilder) Martin Gonzales and Don Saxby and stopped taking short notice fights.
The streaking Dharry says he feels good about coming aboard the ever-expanding GCP stable of champions and contenders.
I feel good about it. I’ve known Greg Cohen for a while now and I feel like he’s going to get me the right fights to get me where I need to be and get me the world title shot I want. I’m very excited because I know he’ll get things going soon.
Of Indian descent, but born in Guyana, Dharry and his family moved to Brooklyn in 1999, where he started boxing at age 11 after getting into several fights at school. Als Amateur, he fought in the US Nationals, the Metro finals, and the Olympic box-offs before turning pro in late 2004. He now fights out of the famous Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn.
I set a goal for myself many years ago,” continued Dharry. “My goal is to be world champion and I’m sticking to it. My belief is I can accomplish this, especially with my new promoter making it happen for me.
Dharry says he’d particularly like to face WBA Champ Rau’shee Warren, or IBF boss Lee Haskins, but will take on anyone Cohen puts in front of him.
I’m a counter puncher but I like to adapt to whoever I’m facing and whatever they bring. I box if I need to and fight if I need to. I’ll trade shots if I have to as well. I have the determination it takes to do anything.

GCP Signs South African Featherweight Slugger Lusanda Komanisi

Greg Cohen Promotions is happy to announce the signing of power-punching IBO World Featherweight Champion Lusanda Komanisi.
Bekannt als “Mexikanisch” for his aggressive fighting style, Komanisi (19-4, 17 KOs), from Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, Südafrika, has successfully defended his IBO title twice since winning it via impressive fifth-round knockout over Macbute Sinyabi in July 2014.
Als Amateurboxer, Komanisi was a 2006 Gold Medalist in the South African games, und 2007 Gold Medalist in the South African Championships at bantamweight. He trains at the All Winners Boxing Club in East London, Südafrika, with former IBF World Super Flyweight Champion ZolaniLast BornTete.
I want to be a unified world champion and fight the best featherweights in the division,” said Komanisi. “This signing will help my family live a better life. My country last saw and had a WBC green belt more than 15 years ago from Sugar Boy Malinga and Dingaan Thobela and now I want to bring it back! As a Featherweight I believe I am the next big thing in the sport of boxing and I am here to stay! Unifying against all the champions in this division would be a dream come true for me.
We would like to thank Greg Cohen Promotions for providing this once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Komanisi’s manager, Mlandeli Tengimfene. “To Komanisi, this partnership is a dream come true.
Clifford Mass, GCP Vice President of Business Development, says the goal will be to put the African slugger into the mix. “We are very excited about signing Lusanda Komanisi. He is a huge puncher, and featherweight is one of the hottest divisions in boxing right now. We are looking forward to putting together some big fights for him, and helping him take his career to the next level.

Today they not only got to see his title belt and take pictures with the fighter but they also received 20 donated tickets to Freitag night’s fight from Miller, so that kids from the Boys & Girls Club could attend the fight.

Guivas Taking a Realistic Approach to Facing ‘Big BabyMiller in CBS-televised Showdown next Friday at Seneca Niagara Resort & Kasino

Topeka, Kansas heavyweight NickTwo GunzGuivas is taking a realistic approach to facing one of the most dangerous up-and-coming heavyweights in the world next weekend.
Guivas (12-3-2, 9 KOs) will take on undefeated WBO #11, WBA #12 und IBF #15 Jarrell “Big Baby” Müller (16-0-1, 14 KOs) for the WBO NABO Heavyweight Championship on Freitag, Mai 27, 2016, at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, New York.
The two power-punching heavies will meet in the main event of Greg Cohen Promotions’ (in association with Salita Promotions, Adam Wilcock’s FightCard Promotions and David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions) next instalment ofChampionship Boxing on CBS Sports Network.
In the 10-round lightweight semi-final bout, red-hot Filipino prospect HarmonitoEl Huracan de Gensan” Dela Torre (17-0, 12 KOs) will make his debut on US soil against capable veteran Guillermo Sanchez (15-18-1, 6 KOs) von Buffalo.
Tickets für “Championship Boxing auf CBS Sports Network” ab $35 and are available at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Abendkasse,www.ticketmaster.com or you can charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
I’m coming there to win, definitiv,” sagte Guivas, “and I know I’m a lot smaller than him, but I think I can move around and stay away from his punches. He’s a very heavy hitter, so I’m going to move and box him and see what the outcome is. I’m going to give this guy everything I’ve got. And I know he’s coming to fight too, so at the end of the fight, may the best man get their hand raised.
Taking on the red-hot Miller is not a job many heavyweights are hoping to get at the moment, but Guivas says the time is right for a challenge of this magnitude.
I’m at the part of my career where I need to step up,” er erklärte. “When they offered me the fight, I was already somewhat in shape, so I said let’s get in better shape and see what we can do. I think at this time I’m ready for it.
Guivas says he respects Miller’s power, but might have some openings to get a few things done. “Im Laufe der Jahre, I’ve gotten smarter in the ring. I know the guy is a heavy puncher and had a really good amateur career. He’s got a good jab, but he doesn’t have super fast hands. I’ve also noticed he tends to wear down in the later rounds, so I have to take him deep and see if I can out-box him.
A service technician for Coca Cola during the day, Guivas stared boxing and had his first fight at age eight. He ultimately had around 200 amateur fights and was a two-time silver gloves medalist, won the regional Golden Gloves tournament twice and went to the PAL Nationals. He got the nicknameTwo Gunzfrom promoter Damon Reed.
“Mein Promoter, Damon, is my promoter and a fighter too. He gave me that name because of the size of my arms and because I hit him one time and he said he felt like he’d been shot with a gun.
Guivas says he’s working hard at the Danger Fire Gym in Topeka, before and after work every day, and doing things a bit different to prepare for Miller.
I get up early in the morning and get my run in and then in evenings after work I do my boxing and sparring. I end up doing four to five hours a day of training. Ich habe keine Wahl, but to do it like that. In der Vergangenheit, I’ve had one or two sparring partners for a fight, and I would go five or six rounds with that guy. Für diesen Kampf, we brought in five guys and I get a fresh one every round. And the guys I’m sparring with are guys that are at the next level or getting ready to become top fighters. I’m getting a fresh look from different guys every round.
A good counterpuncher and a decent boxer, Guivas says a victory am kommenden Freitag would change everything.
I think beating Miller would definitely put me to the next level. The guy is top 10. If I can get the win I’d be in the money next time. I don’t fight just for the money though. Ich liebe es zu kämpfen. That’s what I do.

WITH HIGHLIGHT-REEL KNOCKOUT, MASON MENARD NOW SERIOUS CONTENDER IN LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

‘He’s Ready for Anybodysays Promoter Greg Cohen
It’s been three days sincethe shot heard round the world,” the one-punch knockout Louisiana lightweight Mason “Rock Hard Mighty” Menard scored over opponent Eudy Bernardo. VIDEO: http://s.sho.com/1NtEYjW
In what should have been a fight against his toughest opponent to date, Menard(31-1, 23 KOs) destroyed the Dominican Bernardo, dropping him in the second and finishing their nationally televised ShoBox: Die neue Generation co-main event with a single right hand at 2:11 des dritten.
In what will certainly be a “Knockout des Jahres” Bewerber, Menard’s devastating right hand left the formerly undefeated Bernardo unconscious and announced the 27-year-old as an unexpected fighter to watch in the lightweight division.
I train hard, diet right. I get good sparring. I do everything to the tee. I go to church on Sundays and the blessing come true for me,” said a happy Menard, nach dem Kampf. “It felt great to be on the world stage and perform like that. With all my people back home watching and developing new fans out of the people watching everywhere, it’s just a great feeling. I want to continue this.
At the time of the KO, Bernardo appeared to be seriously hurt and was taken from the ring on a stretcher. He has since recovered. “I knew in my mind it’d last about three rounds, but I didn’t expect that shot to take him out,” continued Menard. “It’s a great feeling to get a victory, but I’d rather my opponent walk out of the ring. I saw he was seriously hurt and I got down on one knee and said a prayer for him.
For Menard’s promoter, Greg Cohen von Greg Cohen Promotions, the victory was not unexpected, despite Bernardo being favored going in, but is still a very pleasant development.
With one punch, Mason is now a serious contender in the lightweight division,” sagte Cohen. “He’s ready for any of the champions including Jorge Linares, Rances Barthelemy or Terry Flanagan.
With a humble nature and movie-star good looks, Cohen saw the potential in Menard immediately. “Now everyone knows what we already did. He’s a sensational fighter with true star potential. I’m very excited to be working with him.
“Ich bin für jeden bereit,” said Menard. “As long as business is right, I’m not scared of anybody, bringt sie auf!”

Hunter says his victory will be the culmination of his lifelong dream. “It would mean everything. It would right my wrongs. All those who doubted me. All my failures and letdowns on the way here. It will turn all my negatives into positives.

After Sensational Victory over Donovan Dennis, The Sky is Now the Limit for Heavyweight Slugger Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Müller

Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions says he could not be happier with the performance turned in last Friday night by the fighter he co-promotes (with Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions), undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Müller.
Müller, jetzt 16-0-1, 14 KOs, showed both his frightening power and excellent boxing skills while scoring a brutal TKO 7 over an extremely game Donovan Dennis. Fighting in the co-main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, Miller made believers out of many by displaying depth and ring intelligence to go with his sledgehammer fists.
Jarrell showed he’s not just a big puncher,” sagte Greg Cohen. “He showed the ability to change up his game plan during a fight. That’s very important at the higher levels of the division. He nearly took Dennishead off in the first round, but when he saw that somehow he was going to survive for a while, he switched up to boxing and re-established his dominance that way. It was exactly what he should have done in there.
Müller, who won the NABA Heavyweight Championship with the victory, is now in line for an even higher-profile showdown with a rated contender.
Jarrell is a force to be reckoned with and with his power, skill, athleticism and charisma, he can become a worldwide star and be the man to restore the heavyweight division to its glory of yesteryear,” weiter Cohen. “People love him and can’t enough of him!”
Cohen says that even though Miller called out the champions of the division after the victory, the probable next step will be a top-ten fighter in one of the sanctioning organizations.
We believe he can beat any of the champions right now, heute. But to get him there we will have to next focus on someone rated above him and take their spot by force. But I have every confidence we are less than a year away from getting Jarrell the world title shot he wants more than anything.
