COLORADO SPRINGS, Ronde. (Februari 19, 2018) – USA Boxing organiseert een particuliere meet-and-greet van de USA Boxing Alumni Association deze donderdag nacht (Februari. 22), voorafgaand aan de open divisie-finales van die avond van het New England Tournament of Champions, onderdeel van de 72e jaarlijkse New England Golden Gloves Championships, in het historische Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts.
De feb. 22nd Ook wordt er een USA Boxing Alumni Association gehouden, gedeeltelijk, om het 2018 USA vs. Ierland Noordoost-Boxing Tour, die begint Maandag, Maart 12, in het onlangs gerenoveerde Royale Entertainment Complex in de beroemde theaterwijk van Boston. De VS versus. Ireland Northeast Boxing Tour gaat door Maart 15 op de MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massa. en concludeert Maart 21 in het Manchester Downtown Hotel in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Veel van de beste amateurbokers aller tijden van New England zullen deelnemen, waaronder de held uit de geboorteplaats en drievoudig kampioen van New England, “Iers” Micky Ward. LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 16, 2018) – Fourteen novice division champions were crowned at last night’s championship finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, onderdeel van de 72e jaarlijkse New England Golden Gloves Championships, last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Western New England captured top honors in team standings with eight individual winners, followed by Central New England (5), Noord-Nieuw-Engeland (1) and Southern New England (0).
East Walpole bantamweight Noelle Boran was named Most Outstanding Boxer.

“It was very difficult to select the Most Outstanding Boxer because there were five who could have won,” N. En. Uitvoerend directeur Bobby Russo zei. Noelle won but Nelson Perez, Shane Jordan, Kate Zahr en Jessie Batanda were all in the running. We had some great bouts and surprisingly good talent for the novice division.
“I’m really looking forward to next week’s All-New England open division semifinals and championship finals. People should buy tickets in advance, so they don’t get caught in long lines and miss some early bouts. We’re expecting large crowds both night.”

(Februari 9, 2018) – Western New England and Central New England teams dominated last night’s semifinals round in the novice division of the New England Tournament of Champions, onderdeel van de 72e jaarlijkse New England Golden Gloves Championships, was held last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Western and Team Central won five and four individual matches, respectievelijk, van 10 exciting bouts with the 10 winners advance to this coming Thursday’s (Februari. 15) novice division championship final at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 20, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships continued last night with Central New England (Greater Lowell) novice and open class action at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Novice quarterfinals and semifinals matches were held last night, as well as preliminary bouts in the open division. The female championship bout in the middleweight class was also held last night, in which Amesbury’s (MA) Jessica McFadden edged Brookline’s Samantha Surface, 3-2.
The Fight of the Night was an open-class welterweight showdown between Salem’s (MA) Charlie Espinal and Amesbury’s Kenny Lawson, which Espinal won by a score of 5-0.
“It was a good night,” Uitvoerend directeur van New England Golden Gloves Bobby Russo zei. “Good weather helped draw a big crowd, the largest of the season so far. There were a lot of good matches, some open division to go along with the novices. The Espinal-Larson match was the best of the night, a war from start to finish. It was the type fight you didn’t want either fighter to lose. Espinal had a little better boxing and experience that carried him to victory.”

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 13, 2018) – The Central New England (Greater Lowell) second-round of the 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships concluded last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with that featured 13 exciting men’s and women’s novice class matches.
The quarterfinals are on tap volgende week vrijdag nacht (Jan. 19) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with novice and open class matches. Zie de volledige 2018 lijst van evenementen zowel onder als gisteravond volledige resultaten.
“The first bout (Rodriguez vs. Picariello) of the night was awesome, one of the best I’ve seen in years,” Uitvoerend directeur van het toernooi Bobby Russo zei. “It was a lesson to be learned for fans: don’t come late! One of the great things about amateur boxing is you never know what the fight of the night will be and last night it was the first. Rodriguez showed a good skill level, especially for a novice, and Picariello had tremendous determination. He kept coming and they both threw a lot of punches. It was a great way to start the show.”

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 6, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships kicked-off last night in front of an enthusiastic crowd, despite traveling in sub-zero temperature, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with Central New England (Greater Lowell) preliminary-round action that featured 13 exciting men’s and women’s novice class matches.

“I was very happy with last night’s turnover,” Uitvoerend directeur van het toernooi Bobby Russo zei, “especially considering the wicked cold. “It’s a testament to the great fans in the Lowell area who are diehard supporters.”

2017 National Golden Gloves champion Poindexter Knight, Jr. wins his Pro debut

New York (December, 11, 2017)–On December 1st, welterweight prospect Poindexter Knight, Jr. won his anticipated professional debut when he stopped Samuel Forjoe in the first round of their scheduled four-round bout at The Strand Ballroom and Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.
De 2017 National Golden Gloves champion out of Philadelphia landed a hard combination the corner that had Forjoe bending over, and the bout was stopped in just 63 seconden.
Knight is the latest top-prospect to debut for Split-T Management, and he is promoted by Evander Holyfield’s Sports and Entertainment.
“Everything went well, I was excited and nervous, but I got through it,”zei Ridder.
“I thought my opponent would have a little more for me, but I did what I had to do in there and I got him out of there. It was great to get the knockout in my pro debut,” continued Knight.
Knight is eager to get his next victory, and he is looking to do in front of his hometown fans.
“I am hoping to fight in front of my hometown fans in 2018. That would be a goal for the upcoming year. I can’t wait as I am coming strong in 2018.”
Knight is trained by his father Poindexter Knight, Sr, and the elder Knight was happy with his son’s performance.
“Poindexter looked relaxed, and it looked like it was his 10th fight. I am happy to be with Split-T Management. They gave us a chance when no one else did. We wanted to turn pro for a while and a lot of managers made a lot of broken promises. I put Poindexter back in the Golden Gloves, and he won, which opened a lot of doors,” Said Poindexter Knight, Sr.
“Like my son said, I would like to see him get at least five fights for 2018. That will keep him sharp, and he will continue to learn. We had a great 1st fight, and we will continue to work hard and get better with each fight.”
Said David McWater, CEO of Split-T management, “I’m truly excited about Poindexter Knight’s future – he has the skill and more importantly the drive to be one of the very best.”

Vito Mielnicki, Jr. places 2nd in the Golden Gloves Junior National Tournament in Mesquite, Nevada

Nutley, NJ (Juli 31, 2017) – Last week in Mesquite, Nevada. 15 year-old Vito Mielnicki, Jr. took 2nd place in the Golden Gloves Junior National Tournament.

What made this a special feat for Mielnicki, was that he went up five weight classes for 101 pounds to 125 and narrowly lost to a split decision to the number-one ranked Luis Ybarra of Colorado.
Mielnicki is a former three-time Junior National Golden Goves champion, and was named the tournament Most Outstanding Boxer twice. Mielnicki went up in weight and fought him on the highly accomplished Ybarra on even terms.
Since the age of seven, Mielnicki has been trained by Wali Moses , who is the grandfather and trainer of 2016 Olympic Silver Medal winner Shakur Stevenson
