Robbery at the Cannery! Scoring Woes Continue in Las Vegas as Eduardo Ramirez Cheated by Bad Judging

Barthelemy-Ramirez Ends in Dubious Draw
A loud chorus of boos rang out as another controversial Las Vegas decision was rendered in bosiung bona oa Leduan Barthelemy vs. Eduardo Ramirez featherweight battle at the Cannery Hotel & Casino ho la Las Vegas.
Ramírez, ea Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, seemed to have done more than enough to deserve the nod over a listless Barthelemy in the 10-round featherweight main event of a Premier Boxing ChampionsCuba vs. Mexico” TOE-TO-TOE Labobeli ketsahalo, televised nationally on FS1 & BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes.
Ka mor'a 10 rounds of pounding and chasing the exhausted Cuban around the ring, often landing multi-punch combinations to the head and body, Ramirez and corner rightfully celebrated their well-deserved upset victoryBut in Las Vegas boxing, nothing is certain, especially scoring.
While Judge Glen Trowbridge was able to pick the right winner at least (but by too tight a margin) ka 96-94, the other two inexplicably scored the lopsided beating (Tim Cheatham) 95-95 and an unbelievable 97-93 Barthelemy from Patricia Morse Jarman.
This controversial scoring is the second time Las Vegas judges have made major blunders on national television in a short time, as it comes less than two weeks after the Canelo vs. GGG scoring debacle.
It is also not the first time Morse Jarman has been involved in controversial and highly questionable scoring.
Her decades of head-scratching scores include having Fernando Vargas ahead of Oscar De La Hoya at the time of De La Hoya’s 11th round stoppage victory, as well as having Beibut Shumenov winning 117-111 in a fight against Gabriel Campillo that Campillo clearly dominated and was robbed. Also among her long list of missteps, Morse Jarman had Marco Antonio Barrera beating Nasim Hamed by a mere three points in a fight regarded by all (except Morse Jarman) as a one-sided beating.
With the “atamela” Barthelemy escapes to 13-0-1, 7 Kos. Ramirez undeservedly sinks to 20-0-3, 7 Kos.

Las Vegas (September 26, 2017) – Unbeaten featherweights Leduan Barthelemy (13-0-1, 7 Kos) le Eduardo Ramirez (20-0-3, 7 Kos) fought to an exciting split draw in their 10-round brawl that headlined Tonakgolo Boxing Champions Toe-TO-Toe TUESDAYS ka FS1 le Boxing Championska Fox Deportes Labobeli night from the Cannery Hotel & Casino ho la Las Vegas.
The back-and-forth battle saw Barthelemy attempt to take advantage of his length early while Ramirez fought hard to do damage on the inside. By round four, Ramirez had begun to break through Barthelemy’s defense and by the sixth round he connected with Barthelemy repeatedly with no response to score a huge round in his favor.
I wanted to pressure him all the way through and take away his reach advantage,” ho boletse ramirez. “I felt good the whole fight and he never hurt me at any point. I believed in my skills and I performed well.
It was a very tough, physical fight for both of us,” re Barthelemy. “I didn’t feel 100 percent but I was able to work through it and I never felt hurt during the fight. He landed on me but I was able to keep my composure.
Barthelemy was able to recover and began to stifle Ramirez’s aggressiveness by pivoting effectively and landing punches from different angles. By the final round, the two fighters resorted to brawling on the inside, with both men landing big punches all the way to the final bell.
In the end the judgesscores reflected the close nature of the bout as one judge scored the fight 97-93 for Barthelemy while another judge scored the bout 96-94 for Ramirez. The fight was declared a split draw after the final score was announced as 95-95.
“Ke ne ke tla sebele loantša mo hape,” re Barthelemy. “I’ll be ready for another great battle and I’ll get the clear victory this time.
I thought that I won the fight, it was a close fight but I believe that I did what I had to do to win,” ho boletse ramirez. “I would fight him again and beat him even worse.
Additional action saw once-beaten Alejandro Salinas (9-1, 8 Kos) was able to earn a unanimous decision over rugged brawler Duarn Vue (12-1, 4 Kos) in their eight-round super featherweight contest.
The fight was defined by close quarters exchanges that began right after the opening bell as Vue charged Salinas and tried to navigate the distance and brawl with Salinas. The tide quickly turned for Salinas who established his right hand and connected several times cleanly with Vue’s head.
Vue did not stop attacking and forced Salinas to vary his attack and add in uppercuts and left hooks with his effective right hand. While Vue was able to tag Salinas as he tired into the later rounds, it was not enough to come back in the minds of the judges as all three scored the bout for Salinas by scores of 80-72, 79-73 le 77-75.
The opening bout saw Bryan Fieeroa (13-0, 5 Kos) remain unbeaten and win a close decision over Ivan Jimenez (7-1-1, 4 Kos) in their six round lightweight fight.
Figueroa took his time early trying to utilize his height advantage to strike Jimenez from a distance and in round three he connected on a hard left hand that backed up and staggered his opponent. Jimenez was able to stay on his feet, and had success at times getting on the inside and hitting Figueroa with hooks, but was not able to land consistently enough.
The fiery exchanges continued through the sixth and final round with Figueroa eventually earning the decision on all three judgesscorecards by the score of 58-56.

Undefeated 6′ 7″ Middleweight Sebastian Fundora to Face His Toughest Test to Date Against Ohio’s Undefeated Victor Toney

Appearing in an important six-round test against another undefeated fighter will be 6′ 7″ middleweight prospect SebastianTowering Inferno” Letlole (4-0, 3 Kos). With a victory over Youngstown, Ohio’s Victor Toney (5-0, 4 Kos), 19-year-old Fundora, from Coachella, California, will be enlisted to join Lewkowicz’s formidable promotional stablea fast-track to an eventual world rating and championship challenge.
Televised live on FS1 and Boxing Champions ka Fox Deportes (9 p.m. LE/6 p.m. PT), and presented by Sampson Boxing, in association with Pochiro Boxing and the Cannery Hotel & Casino, “Cuba vs. Mexico” will be headlined by a 10-round featherweight main event between undefeated Leduan Barthelemy (13-0, 7 Kos) and also undefeated Eduardo Ramirez (20-0-2, 7 Kos).
In the other televised bouts, hard-hitting prospect Alejandro Salinas (8-1, 8 Kos) matching up against unbeaten Duarn Vue (12-0, 4 Kos) in an eight-round super featherweight attraction plus a six-round showdown between unbeaten lightweight prospects Bryan Fieeroa (12-0, 5 Kos) le Ivan Jimenez (7-0-1, 4 Kos).
Tickets, ho qala ka $30, are available by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, at all Boyd Gaming Showroom Box Offices (Aliante, The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town, Cannery & Eastside Cannery), kapa ka bitsa 800-745-3000.
Salinas, who has been boxing since age nine and had over 100 tsenwe lintoa, says his incredible height comes from his father/trainer Freddy Fundora’s Cuban side of the family. His mother is of Mexican descent.
I have cousins in Cuba that are seven feet tall,” said Fundora. “I eat a lot but for some reason, I can’t gain any weight. Could be because I’m always training.
Naturally, Fundora says he boxes from the outside and uses his natural gifts to overwhelm opponents and eventually stop them. He credits his success in the ring to his father, who has been his trainer since the first day. “He’s always been there for me, and he’s the biggest inspiration of my life. He’s the only person I really look up to. He’s my coach and father and best friend; an all-around good guy.
Fundora says he doesn’t know much about opponent Toney, but has worked hard at Coachella Valley Boxing Club to land this big promotional bump with a victory. “Ntho e ka sehloohong, I want to thank Sampson Boxing Promotions for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent that has derived from all the hard work that both my team and I have put in for so long,” continued Fundora. “As ‘Towering Inferno,’ my game plan is out of control and coming your way on Labobeli, September 26, at the Cannery Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas.
The lost art of professionalism in the boxing industry is something that Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz bases his company on,” said Freddy Fundora. “Those very same values are the core of Fundora Squad and what we are based around.
“Ke sa bone mo loantša leha ho le joalo,” o ile a re Sampson Lewkowicz. “But with a name like Towering Inferno and that incredible height, I will be watching closely. If he is impressive in victory, I look forward to a long association with Sebastian and his father, Freddy. Ka feela 19 le lilemo li, Sebastian has all the physical gifts to become a major force from middleweight all the way to heavyweight with age.
###
Sampson Lewkowicz is proud to announce he will be donating $1 from every ticket sold to his upcoming event in Las Vegas to help victims of the recent Mexico City Earthquake. The donated funds, to be distributed by Mauricio Sulaiman of the World Boxing Council, will be matched X5 by world-renowned philanthropist and Mexican business man Carlos Slim’s Foundation.

Miami, OK. (August 25, 2017) – Sergiy Derevyanchenko (11-0, 9 Kos) remained unbeaten as he stopped Tureano Johnson (20-2, 14 Kos) ka 12go th and final round of their middleweight world title eliminator that headlined a special Friday night edition of Tonakgolo Boxing Champions Toe-TO-Toe TUESDAYS ka FS1 le Boxing Champions ka Fox Sports
Derevyanchenko put himself in line for a world title shot with an impressive stoppage of the durable contender Johnson in their bout from Main Streetin front of historic Coleman Theater – in Khao Lak, Oklahoma.
“Ke thabile haholo le tshebetso,” said Derevyanchenko. “I did exactly what we worked on in training and broke him down to get the knockout.
“Ke ka nyahama,” said Johnson. “But I give a lot of credit to Derevyanchenko and congratulate him on his performance bosiung bona.”
Johnson was aggressive from the start, positioning himself right in front of his opponent while trying to throw punches from orthodox and southpaw stances. Derevyanchenko was able to sustain the pressure and use a steady jab to create enough space to unload big power shots on Johnson.
The third round saw Derevyanchenko’s offense break through as he was able to land multiple punches to the head while Johnson could only try to cover up. After falling behind in the first half of the fight, Johnson upped the aggression in rounds six and seven and was able to have more success landing series of hooks through Derevyanchenko’s own offense.
Leha ho le joalo, in round eight Derevyanchenko returned to relying on his jab and was once again able to create the space to land strong shots and got the best of multiple exchanges. Derevyanchenko continued to show off impressive combos until finally breaking down Johnson for good in the 12go th round with a ferocious combination that included three clean left hooks to the head.
He was very tough and took a lot of punches,” said Derevyanchenko. “Maybe the fight could have been stopped earlier but I was always ready to go the distance.
Johnson was sent down and referee Gary Ritter immediately called a halt to the bout 40 seconds into the final round.
I’m ready to fight the winner of Golovkin vs. Canelo for the title,” said Derevyanchenko. “I think that Golovkin will win and I look forward to fighting him next.
The co-main event of the telecast saw once-beaten Hugo Centeno Refresh. (26-1, 14 Kos) deliver a highlight reel knockout of previously undefeated Immanuel Aleem (17-1, 10 Kos) in the third round of their middleweight matchup.
Centeno Refresh. looked to use his 6’1frame to hurt Aleem from a distance as he circled the ring and stayed on the outside until attacking with a combination. Aleem came out dedicated to throwing huge left hooks to the body and worked to stay on the inside against the taller opponent.
Aleem upped the aggression in the second and third rounds, but Centeno Jr. stayed calm and slowly began to time the charging Aleem. A Centeno uppercut in round two was the first shot that got the attention of Aleem, who was coming in to this bout off of a knockout victory over Ievgen Khytrov in a Fight of the Year candidate from January.
Late in the third round, Centeno Refresh. landed a perfect left hook on the button just as Aleem tried to throw his own left hand and sent Aleem crashing to the canvas. Referee Gerald Ritter counted Aleem out as the fight was officially ended 2:27 into the round and Centeno walked away with a victory that will likely garner Knockout of the Year consideration.

Las Vegas (August 22, 2017) – Pele e neng e lefatše 'mampoli Juan Carlos Payano (19-1, 9 Kos) scored an impressive decision victory over Alexis Santiago (24-5-1, 8 Kos) e kholo ea ho ketsahalo eaTonakgolo Boxing Champions Toe-TO-Toe TUESDAYS ka FS1 le Boxing Championska Fox Sports, Labobeli night from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas and presented by Mayweather Promotions.
Payano set the pace early, closing the distance with Santiago and delivering consistent flurries of punches. Santiago was unable to keep Payano from charging forward early and seemed focused on landing a big counter.
The fight was defined by its rough nature and constant fighting on the inside. This led to a cut above Payano’s left eye after round three, but his corner was able to manage it and the cut was never a problem.
I felt like I was winning every single round,” said Payano. “There were small moments on the inside that I gave away but I think I did the better work each round.
Santiago had moments in the fight and landed big right hands late in the fourth and fifth rounds that got Payano’s attention, but the former champion was able to throw back with high volume and regain control of the fight.
The strategy was to wear him down and then really try to walk him down and take him out,” said Payano. “Santiago was a little too tough for his own good so I kept some distance at times and controlled the fight.
I felt the long layoff when I got in there,” ho boletse Santiago. “I was a little tight and I loaded up too much instead of using my speed.
Even when Santiago was able to corner Payano, the slippery fighter was able to fight his way off the ropes and turn the tide back in his favor. After the end of 10 rounds of super bantamweight action all three judgessaw the fight in Payano’s favor by scores of 100-90 le 99-91 ka makhetlo a mabeli.
I want my titles back,” said Payano. “I don’t care who is holding which titles at 118 le 122 lik'hilograma tse. I’ll fight anyone and show I’m still a champion.
I thought the fight was a little closer,” ho boletse Santiago. “He did more work than me but I thought I had good moments. I wanted to box him a little more but I couldn’t find my range so I just tried to close down the gaps. We just have to go back to the drawing board and stay more active. I want to get a tune-up fight then get right back to fighting top guys.
The co-main event saw once-beaten Ladarius Miller (14-1, 4 Kos) score a unanimous decision victory over 2012 U.S. Olympian Jamel Herring (16-2, 9 Kos) in their 10-round lightweight bout.
The southpaws began the fight carefully, with Miller looking to establish his jab while Herring showed great movement early and tried to catch Miller in the pocket. The exchanges picked up in round two, although both men were still primarily throwing one punch at a time.
I know I out-jabbed him,” ho boletse miller miller. “When we jabbed each other, I thought my jab was stronger than his. I gave him two different styles. There were times where I walked him down and times where I boxed him.
Miller began to pick up the aggressiveness in round three, following up his jab with a straight left hand over the top that snapped Herring’s head. Herring continued to focus on his movement and mixed-in good body work several times to finish off exchanges.
In round five Herring began to plant himself inside and looked to counter Miller, but was unable to do enough clean work to get the attention of the judges as Miller continued to throw back with left hands and movement that occasionally frustrated Herring.
“Ke ne ke nahana e ne e le haufi loana,” re Herring. “I thought when I came forward and pressed the fight he started retreating and moving.
Both men squared-off in the center of the ring for the final three rounds, as each looked to deliver a shot that would seal the fight in their favor. The flurry of action led to judgesdisagreements on all three of the final action-packed rounds.
In the end it was Miller’s consistent work throughout the fight that got him the nod from all three judges by scores of 98-92 le 97-93 ka makhetlo a mabeli.
I thought 97-93 was the right score,” ho boletse miller miller. “I took it easy in round nine and felt him out in the first two rounds. But the rest of the fight I felt like I dominated. It’s a process. I’m just climbing the ladder right now. I want to get another test and fight more strong fighters. I want to be on the biggest stages. I’m ready for the step up.
I thought I landed some heavy shots in there and was more aggressive,” re Herring. “Obviously the judges saw it differently. I’ll get back with my team and see what’s next, but I did think I won the fight. I thought I won the last two rounds and pulled it out.
