In this Spike original special, “Chasing Billions” follows boxing superstar and super lightweight world champion Adrien Broner along with top contender and Floyd Mayweather protégé, Ashley Théophane, as they prepare for their highly anticipated showdown on Vendredi, Avril 1 from the D.C. Ortiz and Berto first faced off in their 2011 welterweight world title barnburner that garnered significant Fight of the Year buzz. MARS 12 BOXING EVENT CANCELLATION NOTICE

NEW YORK (Février. 24, 2016)—After extensive discussions between DiBella Entertainment, Showtime Networks and Mohegan Sun, la Mars 12 boxing event has been canceled.

 

Following the injury to Keith Thurman and the postponement of the Thurman vs. Porter bout, we evaluated several options for salvaging the card, but various factors, including scheduling and programming issues, prevented the parties involved from doing so.

 

The featherweight bout between fellow three-division world champions Abner Mares and Fernando Montiel will remain paired with the Thurman vs. Porter welterweight world championship event, which is being rescheduled for a later date on CBS. The other bouts on the card will be rescheduled on a date or dates to be announced.

 

“Every effort was made to move forward with the remainder of this excellent card, despite the tight time frame,” a déclaré Lou DiBella, Président de DiBella Entertainment. “Cependant, scheduling conflicts and other factors forced us to make the unfortunate decision to cancel the entire event. There are a number of attractive fights on the table and we look forward to presenting all of them to the fans as soon as possible.”

 

Tickets purchased for the Mars 12 event will be refunded at the point of purchase.

DiBella Entertainment, Mohegan Sun and Showtime Evaluating Options to Continue with the Remainder of the Mars 12 Carte de combat
NEW YORK (Février. 22, 2016)–Undefeated world champion Keith Thurman sustained an injury as a result of a car accident that has forced his Mars 12 welterweight title defense against Shawn Porter to be postponed. The announcement was made today by promoter Lou DiBella, president of DiBella Entertainment. According to his doctors, Thurman’s injuries are not considered serious and he is expected to be cleared to resume training in the coming weeks. Thurman vs. Porter was the main event of a scheduled two-fight card to be broadcast in prime time on CBS. This fight and the network broadcast will now be rescheduled for a later date.
DiBella Entertainment, Mohegan Sun and Showtime are evaluating the option of continuing with the remainder of the fight card on Samedi, Mars 12 with a transition of television coverage to SHOWTIME. Complete details are forthcoming.

LAS VEGAS (Février 19, 2016) – Welterweight star “Showtime” Shawn Porteropened up his training camp to media Jeudi at Porter Hy-Performance Center in Las Vegas as he prepares for his primetime showdown with welterweight world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman sur Samedi, Mars 12 on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS presented by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) from Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut.

Porter worked out for media along with his father and trainer, Ken Porter as he looks to become a welterweight world champion for the second time. “Training camp is going great. It’s been hard work as always and nothing really different specifically for this fight. Obviously it is always a different game plan for a different fighter but that’s about it.

 

“I’m not making too many adjustments from my previous fight, just taking what I learn from each fight and take those learning experiences with you. Going into this fight we will definitely have some of our past experiences show up.

 

“It is getting closer. I feel it every day. It’s approaching and the excitement is brewing. The closer it gets the more excited and more focused that I get.

On being perceived as the underdog…

 

“I do not feel like I am coming in as the underdog. In order to be the champion, vous devez battre le champion. That is my outlook on this fight, not only to outpoint him but to make it very decisive and dominate the fight.

 

”My motivation is to prove the doubters wrong.

“In my last fight I didn’t get hit very much and I am taking that same mindset and defense into this fight.

On being the next Floyd Mayweather Jr…

 

“I am expecting to beat Keith and be the guy that everyone looks at.

 

“When you go up against someone at a high level like this, you go up and you show out.

 

“As far as Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, I think those faces are going away. The welterweight class is exciting and there’s going to be a new face on the top of that ranking. I’d like that face to be me.

 

“I don’t make any predictions; I just know I am going to win.

 

“I have been waiting for this fight since 2013. I had just gotten my title then and I could see the way his career was moving that there was a collision course. We didn’t know how long this fight would take to happen or when it would happen, but we knew it was coming.

 

“When I was told this fight was happening all I could think was ‘Ok, let’s do it’ and it took some time to make the fight happen but when we finally did our faceoff, it felt great to look him in the eyes and let him know ‘I’m coming after you.’

 

“For me to fight Keith it has always been something that was a part of my career, all business not personal. It was just something that I needed to do to get to where I want to be.

 

“Keith Thurman is a good fighter. Nothing really sticks out to me as something I should worry about. He’s a good athlete and a good boxer, but he is very beatable, he just hasn’t been beat yet.

 

“You’re only as good as you’re last competition. If you look at the Kell Brook fight, I was not as good as I should’ve been. Since then I am very good, but still I feel that you are only as good as your last fight until you prove otherwise.

 

“It is and isn’t personal. For Keith to be considered one of the top dogs in this weight class, it is personal to me to beat him and reign over him. Other than that, it is all business.”

“Because I have the history of working with a lot of top-level amateurs who have moved on to the professional level, I think that Shawn sees that in me as an edge.”

NEW YORK (Février. 3, 2016) – Former three-division world champions Abner Mares et Fernando Montiel will square off in all-action co-feature on Saturday, Mars 12, live on CBS at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT.
In the main event of the first primetime boxing presentation on CBS in nearly 40 ans, welterweight knockout artist Keith Thurman will defend his WBA Welterweight World Championship against former titlist Shawn Porter in a matchup of two elite fighters in boxing’s glamour division.

Mères (29-2-1, 15 KOs) and Montiel (54-5-2, 39 KOs) are two of the most accomplished and entertaining Mexican boxers in the sport today. Mares compiled a staggering resume over the past five years while earning titles at 118, 122 et 126 livres. Montiel is one of the most skilled boxers of his generation having won championships at 112, 115 et 118 pounds over a 17-year career.
“I’m ready to get back in the ring and have the boxing world see the monster that the Mares and Robert Garcia partnership is creating,” lesdits Mares Abner. “I’m a tough fighter. I’ve made some adjustments and I will show my warrior spirit and skill on March 12. It’s time to go to work.”

He continued his rise up the pound-for-pound list with wins over Anselmo Moreno and Daniel Ponce De Leon to win world titles at super bantamweight and featherweight. The 30-year-old won three straight fights leading to a massive showdown with Leo Santa Cruz last August. Mares showed the same explosiveness that made him a multiple division world champion in a thrilling Fight of the Year candidate that he lost by decision. The always-exciting Mares will enter the ring for the first time under the tutelage of renowned trainer Robert Garcia and strength coach Luis Garcia as he looks to work his way towards another world title.
The veteran Montiel won his first world title in 2000 over Isidro Garcia and went on to have title-winning performances over Pedro Alzacar, Ivan Hernandez, Caps Z, Ciso Morales et Hozumi Hasegawa. Né à Sinaloa, Mexique, Montiel rode an eight-fight win streak heading into his October world title shot against Lee Selby. Montiel’s aggressive style frustrated Selby but it was not enough for him to grab a title in his fourth weight class. The 36-year-old has an opportunity to get back in the mix for a world title with a victory over Mares.

(Octobre 14, 2015) -Ce soir Premier Champions de boxe (PBC) sur ESPN carte de combat vedette bagarreur mexicain Aron Martinez (20-4-1, 4 KOs) la capture d'une décision unanime (97-93, 97-93, 96-94) victoire sur l'ancien champion du monde Devon Alexander “Le grand” (26-4, 14 KOs). Dans une bataille de 10 rounds, passé la plupart du temps à l'intérieur, Martinez a réussi à sortir victorieux.
L'ouvreur télévisé présenté un 12-ronde, bataille bourré d'action que Lee Selby (22-1, 8 KOs) fait son U.S. ses débuts et obtenu une décision unanime (116-112, 118-110, 119-109) victoire sur l'ancien champion du monde trois divisions Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel (54-5-2, 39 KOs).

“Je suis le gars plus lourd. Je me suis toujours battu au 147 lbs. Ceci est mon poids naturel et je sparred contre beaucoup plus gros gars pendant les dernières semaines de camp d'entraînement. Je faisais face rapide 180 lbs combattants dans le camp pour se préparer pour cette.
“Nous avons suivi notre plan de match de ce soir. je donne (Alexander) accessoires pour debout là avec moi.
“Lutter contre sur une carte PBC sur ESPN est le meilleur genre d'occasion pour moi. Je vais utiliser ce combat pour obtenir une autre grande chance que je suis ce soir.
“Je vais me battre celui qui ils ont mis en face de moi. Je suis toujours l'opprimé, mais je l'embrasse parce que cette mentalité m'a poussé à travailler plus fort.”
LEE SELBY
“Mon jab, portée et la vitesse était mon plus grands avantages de ce soir. Voilà comment je suis la victoire.
“Toutes les coupes que je ai eu dans ma carrière sont venus contre les combattants plus courtes comme (Montiel). Quand je me suis coupé soir dans le 6ème tour, il était la même chose. Je pris un coup de tête.
“Je suis honnêtement déçu de ma performance de ce soir. Je suis la victoire et il a été un grand sentiment d'obtenir mon premier sur US. sol. Mais les fans ne me voient pas à mon meilleur, et une grande partie de ce que fut l'expérience de Montiel. Il est un grand combattant.”

“Je pensais qu'il était combat beaucoup plus près que les juges avaient sur le tableau de bord.
“Je passai les quelques premiers tours attente pour lui de venir à moi pour que je puisse Counterpunch. Mais il ne me engage alors je suis devenu l'agresseur et a la lutte pour lui.
“Ce fut un honneur de se battre sur cette carte PBC ici en Arizona. Honnêtement, je pense que je mérite une revanche. Je veux me battre avec lui à nouveau.”

“Ce camp a été tout au sujet de bonnes choses. Je devais assurer que ma mentalité était juste. Perdre est pas une option plus. Dans ma perte à Amir (Khan), il n'a pas tout ce qu'il a fait nécessairement à me faire perdre. Toutes les pertes que je ai eu je pense que je pouvais tout aussi facilement gagné ces combats. Ceci est un jeu mental, et je n'y étais pas mentalement pour ces combats.
“Je devais me débarrasser des distractions autour du camp qui ont été me gardant de se concentrer pleinement sur la tâche à accomplir et à quel point la boxe est pour moi. Je devais me concentrer et puis re-concentrer sur ce que cela signifie pour moi. Tout le monde a besoin de se reprogrammer de temps en temps afin de vous rappeler ce qui est important.
“Je sais Aron Martinez va venir se battre. Il connaît mon dossier et que je me suis battu certains des meilleurs. Donc, il sait que ça va être difficile pour lui, et je suis sûr qu'il va faire de son mieux dans le ring avec lui, mais il ne va pas être assez. Quand je suis concentré comme cela personne ne peut me battre.”
ARON MARTINEZ
“Mon style est de combattre et nous espérons qu'il se trouve et les échanges avec moi, mais si il n'a pas, nous avons un bon plan de match à la boîte de lui. Nous savons qu'il est un boxeur, donc je suis assez sûr que ce que nous allons voir.
“Je dois prendre soin d'Alexandre. Je veux donner un bon combat et ensuite passer à de plus grands combats. Je suis ici pour combattre tous ceux qui ont mis en face de moi. Je suis prêt à battre tout le monde.
“Je ne l'ai pas rencontré une seule personne qui ne pense pas que je gagné le combat Robert Guerrero, mais cela est du passé. Je crois que je l'ai battu, mais il est la boxe et je suis prêt à se battre d'une manière type de combattant différent.
“Il était bon de faire tomber tout le monde sous-estime Guerrero parce mon pouvoir. Je me suis battu beaucoup de gars forts et ils ont senti mes coups de poing. Nous nous entraînons à la boîte du commerce ou de coups.”
LEE SELBY
“Je suis vraiment excité. Ceci est mon premier titre mondial de défense et il est contre un défi difficile à relever que la plupart des gars ne prendraient pas. Il est pas une victoire facile, en particulier avec moi avoir à venir à l'étranger.
“Je l'ai choisi un ennemi redoutable et si je bats un gars comme lui et regarde bien, elle devrait soulever mon profil nuit.
“Je ne vraiment étudie pas les combattants, Je veux juste savoir un peu plus sur leur style. Montiel peut faire les deux, il n'a pas un style typique. Je tiens à garder les choses simples parce que vous ne voulez pas de se préparer à une chose et ensuite avoir votre adversaire sortir faire quelque chose de différent.
“Montiel est un grand cogneur mais je l'ai fait avec beaucoup de bons puncheurs. Je l'ai battu plusieurs gars invaincus et je avoir des charges d'expérience pour mon jeune âge.
“Je suis habitué à venir ici pour les camps d'entraînement et aussi loin que de ne pas avoir l'avantage de la foule à la maison, Je l'ai gagné des titres dans les foules hostiles avant, donc ce ne sera pas un problème.
“Je pense que je suis là avec le meilleur dans la division. Je veux me battre les meilleurs joueurs et je pense que si je reçois une grande victoire et regarde bien ici, Je serai dans le mix.
“Avec ces combats étant sur T.V. gratuitement, plus de gens pour moi et mon profil voir se changer rapidement aussi longtemps que je fais ce que je suis capable de faire.”

“Je crois honnêtement que (Selby) a choisi le mauvais gars se battre. Je ai eu une excellente préparation pour ce combat. Tout le travail a été mis en. Il a juste choisi le mauvais gars pour faire ses débuts américains contre.
“Je suis très heureux quand je entendu dire que nous allions nous battre en Arizona. Il ya beaucoup de Mexicains ici, donc je sais que je vais avoir beaucoup de gens derrière moi mercredi. Ça va être génial de battre ici.
“Je ne me sens certainement pas comme l'âge n'a rien à voir avec ce combat. Regardez-moi. Je suis prêt à partir.”
