Here is what the participants had to say Thursday from The JetBlue Overlook at NYCB Live, kunyumba kwa Nassau Veterans Memorial Colise:

ZINA BERTO

A lot of these people on this card have been guys I’ve been around since they were coming up. I’ve been in the game for a while and I’ve been cracking heads for a while.

We had a tremendous training camp for this fight. I took time to rejuvenate myself and I’ve come back and gotten myself into great shape. I appreciate what Devon Alexander has been through, but he’s dealing with a different animal on Saturday night.

I’ve pushed hard to give myself the best chance to win on Saturday. We’ve prepared for everything that we think Devon can bring. I’m physically and mentally prepared for a battle.

I’m going to push Devon. I don’t think he’s fought any that brings what I do since he came back from his layoff. We’re going to see if he’s back. If he’s not ready, then I’m going to make it a long night for him.

It’s all business on Saturday night. Ine tikuyang'ana mwachidwi. It’s going to be dynamite. It’s going to be a good time.

Devon ALEXANDER

I’m thankful that I can continue to fight, build my legacy and do something I love. I’m grateful to be here and show off my talent. I’m still writing my legacy and Berto is just another stepping stone in my way. I have to get past him.

We had a great training camp down in Florida. Coach Cunningham has prepared me as well as for any fight in my career. The focus and dedication we put into camp will all show in the ring on fight night.

Andre Berto was a great champion and I definitely respect what he’s done in this sport. Both of us need this win badly though and I’m sure neither of us will look to take a step back on our way to a victory.

I love being in New York. I always get a lot of love from the fans, and they’re definitely a passionate group of fans. I’m going to be ready for the bright lights on Saturday.

I have to thank Berto for accepting the challenge. We go way back to the amateur days. Ndine kwa vuto. Everyone knows I will fight anybody. Iwo adzakhala wamkulu nkhondo. There’s going to be fireworks.

PETULO QUILLIN

I am more than ready for this fight. I have a lot of history with J’Leon Love. I’m going to be ready for him and it’s going to be a fight the fans won’t want to miss.

I’m very blessed to be back in this position. Coach Sosa has really been a great gift for me. He’s helped me mentally and physically build on everything I had done with Virgil Hunter in the two years prior.

Being back in New York definitely helps make me feel like I’ve made it back. I can be back in front of my fans, and most importantly my family, so that I can feel their support and let it carry me in the ring.

We’ve worked on everything in camp and we’re ready to put on a show Saturday. I’m ready to show everyone that I still have what it takes to compete for a world title. This is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time now.

JLEON LOVE

I appreciate people coming out. I love coming to New York. This is a great card with so many great fighters and I’m grateful for the opportunity.

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Come August 4, you will see me display my talent. I have nothing but respect for Peter Quillin, but this is why they call it the crossroads. We have to run into each other.

I’m not worried about anything Peter has done in past fights. I’m prepared for the best Peter Quillin we’ve seen. He’s not going to catch me by surprise in there.

I just have to be smart, listen to my corner and impose my game plan. I know that I have the skills to win and win convincingly. If I follow the game plan, I’m going to show everyone I’m ready for the best in the division.

I’m excited to be back in New York. I’m planning on riding the energy from the crowd, whether it’s rooting against me or with me, and giving everyone something to remember.

Samson Browne

It’s been a while but I’m thankful to be back. I’m super ready to go in there on Saturday night and put on a show for you guys. I’m going to do what I do best, and keep my name in title contention.

I know that my opponent is skilled and he’s going to be ready to try to upset me. But I’ve worked too hard in camp to let anyone walk into my home and beat me. It’s just not happening.

I’ve made sure to just stay patient and know that my time is coming. I’m going to keep adding to my resume until there’s no one who can deny my shot.

I’m trying to get this done impressively, but I’ll take the win however I can get it. At this point it’s about continuing to win so that I can keep myself at the top of the rankings. I want a world title shot and I’m ready for it.

Luis Collazo

“Ndi wamkulu kukhala pano. I want to give thanks for everyone who has helped me in the last 18 months while I recovered from my injury. It was hard, but it was a process I had to go to.

My team has supported me through thick and thin no matter what I’ve been through. That included my dad, who originally brought me into the gym when I was a kid. This is just what I love to do.

My opponent is young and desperate to put a name on his record. He’s got some skills that we’ve prepared for. I’m confident he doesn’t have anything I haven’t seen before.

I’m ready to go to work on August 4. I’m going to give the fans a great fight and another night to remember with me in the ring.

ALICIA NAPOLEON

This is a big card with a lot of action and I’m proud to be on it. Hannah is a wonderful champion and this is going to be a great fight. This is a tremendous opportunity and we’re going to continue to push for better and better opportunities for female fighters.

This is a fight you won’t want to miss. I’ve had a great camp and I’m prepared for another war. I won this title at Barclays Center in March and I can’t wait to see everyone out cheering for us on Saturday.

It’s an honor to be fighting at home. I really take it to heart that there are young female fighters out there who watch me for inspiration. It helps motivate me and I believe it’s going to help me defend my title successfully on Saturday.

HANNAH RANKIN

It’s fantastic to be on such a great card. I’ve been looking for a big fight like this and it couldn’t have come at a better time for me.

When I got the call for this fight I was obviously going to say yes. Camp has been amazing and I can’t wait to go in there on Saturday night and show everyone what I’m capable of.

This is a worthy opponent and I’m glad that she accepted the challenge. I’ve come too far to leave New York without the championship belt.

Lou DIBELLA, Pulezidenti wa DiBella Entertainment

This should be a sensational show on Saturday, live on FOX and FOX Deportes beginning at 7:30 p.m. AND. There is also a terrific show that actually begins on FS2 and FOX Deportes at 5:30 p.m. AND. This is a loaded card from top to bottom, as you can see from the dais here. It features a number of the best fighters in the world.

The main event features two men in Andre Berto and Devon Alexander who are both multiple time world champions, well known fighters and fighters who need this win. The recipe for a great fight is two terrific boxers who must win.

The co-featured event is a similar bout. Peter Quillin and J’Leon Love are guys who are in the championship picture at 168-pounds. The reality is the winner of this fight will have a chance to fight for the title soon.

There’s a women’s title fight on this card that features Long Island’s only boxing world champion, in Alicia Napoleon. She’s a popular local fighter who is going to make the first defense of her title on Saturday. She will fight the pride of Scotland, in Hannah Rankin, in what should be a great bout. These are two champions of the sport and we’re honored to have them in the ring Saturday.

Las Vegas (June 21, 2017) – Unbeaten Eddie Ramirez (17-0, 11 Ko) zinatsala yogawikana-chisankho kugonjetsa Erick Mafupa (16-5, 8 Ko) mu waukulu mwambo Premier Maseŵera a nkhonya odziwa Chala-A-chala Lachiwiri pa FS1 ndi Nkhonya odziwa pa Fox Deportes Lachiwiri night from Sam’s Town live in Las Vegas.
Representing Chicago, Ramirez controlled the fight early by working off of his jab and attacking with both hands on the inside. Bone was able to consistently throw counters back, but Ramirez showed good defensive skills throughout the night, never taking serious punishment.
I was comfortable in the ring usikuuno,” said Ramirez. “I remain unbeaten. I put the pressure on and I got the win. I think the fans will start to see me more and more.
Ramirez began to break through the guard of Bone and had him in trouble in round four before Bone found his composure and finished the round. The second half of the fight saw Bone increase his movement, which seemed to frustrate Ramirez, who was looking to engage and deliver a knockout.
He made it a little difficult because he wasn’t cooperating,” said Ramirez. “He was running around the ring, but I am proud of my performance. I won and that’s all that matters. I’m going to get back in the ring and get back to training until I get word on my next fight.
Bone finished the fight strong and believed he did enough to earn the decision.
“Sindimagwirizana ndi chisankho,” anati Mafupa. “I am frustrated because I feel I won, however the judges saw it differently. I thought I landed more punches and I just don’t see how they came to the decision that was made. He was a good fighter, tough opponent, but again I believe the wrong decision was made usikuuno.”
After the 10-round welterweight contest concluded it was Ramirez who was awarded the decision with scores of 97-93 kawiri, while one judge saw the bout 97-93 for Bone.
I want whoever is next,” said Ramirez. “I’m ready for whoever can get me closer to a title shot.
Additional televised action saw Xavier Martinez (8-0, 4 Ko) keep his perfect record intact by earning a shutout unanimous decision against previously unbeaten Prince Smalls (11-1-1, 4 Ko) in their eight-round featherweight contest.
While Smalls had the reach advantage and was dedicated to his jab throughout the bout, Martinez was consistently aggressive and was able to navigate the distance and punish Smalls with hooks to the head and body.
I knew the one advantage he had going into this fight was his height,” Anati Martínez. “But once I got in the ring I saw quickly that he was leaving his body open so I just went in and tried to deliver as many combos and hit the body as much as I could.
Martinez landed big power punches all night, including a pinpoint right cross that connected with Smalls at the end of round four. A clean left hook staggered Smalls in round seven as Martinez spent the round punishing his opponent, who was barely able to stay on his feet and finish the frame.
After another dominant round to close out the bout, Martinez was awarded the decision by the score of 80-71 onse atatu oweruza’ scorecards.
I wanted the knockout and I think the fans could tell,” Anati Martínez. “This is my first fight this year, so it’s back in the gym for me as I look to my next opponent. I’ll definitely be ready for anyone.
The opening bout of the telecast saw lightweight prospect Dennis Galarza (16-2, 9 Ko) record his third straight victory via a unanimous decision over Mexico’s Omar Tienda (18-5, 11 Ko) in their 10-round contest.
The taller Galarza used his length early and landed clean hooks on the inside during round one. Tienda came out in round two intent on making it a rough fight and crowding Galarza to negate his reach advantage.
I give my performance about a 7.5,” Anati Galarza. “I knew I was coming into the ring with a tough rugged veteran Mexican fighter and he used that to his advantage, I should have used my jab more.
Galarza continued to have success with his left hook throughout the night, while Tienda was able to slow down Galarza’s offense in the middle rounds with a relentless body attack. Much of the battle took place in close quarters and in round nine Tienda was deducted a point by referee Robert Byrd for throwing Galarza to the canvas.
After 10-rounds of hard-fought action, Galarza’s clean work and good movement in the late rounds helped him earn a unanimous decision by scores of 100-89, 99-90 ndipo 98-91.
There was a lot of holding, but it didn’t really affect my plan,” Anati Galarza. “I wanted the knockout going in but I’m just happy I got the win unanimously. I need to get back in the gym and work on really using my jab and uppercut more and I think that will help me going into the next fight.

Eddie Ramirez Training Camp Quotes

Unbeaten Prospect Battles Erick Bone in Main Event of Premier Boxing Champions Chala-A-chala Lachiwiri pa FS1 & Nkhonya odziwa pa Fox Deportes Lachiwiri, June 20 from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas

Las Vegas (June 15, 2017) – Unbeaten chiyembekezo Eddie Ramirez has made big leaps towards his world title dreams in the last year and he will continue on his path on Lachiwiri, June 20pamene iye amakhala Erick Mafupa mu waukulu mwambo Premier Maseŵera a nkhonya odziwa Chala-A-chala Lachiwiri pa FS1 ndi Nkhonya odziwa on FOX Deportes from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.

Here is what Ramirez had to say about his training camp, his main event showdown and more:

Where have you been holding training camp and how is it going?

“I’m training in Garfield Park in Chicago with George Hernandez, who has trained me throughout my entire professional career. Training msasa wakhalako chachikulu, I’ve been conditioned to stay ready because at any time a fight can come my way. I’m always prepared and I’ll show that on June 20.”

What did you learn about yourself from your last two fights (wins over previously unbeaten fighters Ryan Karl and Kevin Watts)? How have you been able to improve as a fighter?

“After fighting Kevin Watts, I immediately shifted my mentality as a fighter to be more in control and to be smarter. Because being a reckless fighter got me caught and got me knocked down. Ultimately I got the win, but I am thankful for that experience because it helped shape me as a fighter as I continue to face tougher opponents.

“The Karl fight showed off a different Eddie Ramirez. I was a more defensive fighter, I used my counters more and that mindset and growth is what got me the win and will help me get this next one against Bone.”

My last two opponents have really helped me improve as a fighter. The ability has always been there, but I needed those experiences to bring it out of me. Each opponent has been tougher than the last and it’s been very motivating for me as a fighter to continue to be better and perfect my skill. I have always been the underdog so that’s never been a factor or worry for me, I just take each fight as they come and continue to be better. My defense is better, my athleticism has improved, and my mental ability has progressed.”

How do you see this fight with Erick Bone going?

“My expectations or thought process going into this next fight with Erick Bone is to get him out early. I don’t want the fight to go the distance, I have to do whatever I can do to get him out. He’s an aggressive fighter, he’s a technical fighter who has experience, but I am quicker.”

What are your goals for the next year of you career?

A year from now I see myself fighting guys in the Top 10. I want whoever is on that list, I believe I will have progressed as a fighter who people know about and believe has the skill to fight for a world title. I just got to beat out whoever comes my way to show the world who I am and how talented I am as a fighter. I want the big names who are going to get me to the big stage for that world title

The former champion from Mexico worked behind a strong jab and brought the fight to Bone throughout the main event. Bone was able to return fire and was effective at times when countering.
The jab of Vazquez eventually led to success with the right hand that was able to hurt his opponent and keep the battle-tested Bone from building momentum.
Both fighters landed at a nearly identical rate as Vazquez connected on 22 percent of his punches while Bone landed 21 peresenti. Komabe, it was Vazquez with the advantage in punches landed at 94 kuti 74.
The fight featured many close rounds, which was reflected by the varied scores of the judges. Pomaliza pake, all three had the fight for Vazquez by scores of 99-91, 97-93 ndipo 96-94.
Mu Co-waukulu chochitika, rising featherweight Miguel Flores (20-0, 9 Ko) kept his record perfect as he defeated Mexican veteran Ruben Tamayo (26-9-4, 18 Ko) in their 10-round bout.
Facing a southpaw for the first time as a professional, Flores had some trouble early with the game Tamayo who was able to penetrate the defense of the 23-year-old with left hands while also opening a cut with an accidental head butt in round two.
As the fight went on Flores showed improved movement and a variety of effective punches that allowed him to take control of the fight. Most notably, Flores used a bruising left hook to the body that left Tamayo marked up and slowed down his offense.
Both fighters threw over 550 punches but it was Flores who out landed his opponent 175-121. The judges rewarded the still undefeated fighter with the unanimous decision by scores of 100-90 ndipo 98-92 kawiri.
Here is what the main event fighters had to say Loweruka:
Miguel VAZQUEZ
I wanted to throw the heavier punches because I thought I could win by knockout, but that didn’t happen. There was an overhand right in the eighth round that I thought hurt him badly.
He was an elusive fighter and survived, so there are still things that I have to work on.
There was some difficulty adjusting to the late opponent switch, but overall, palibe vuto. I had been sparring southpaws as well as right-handers.
If I could have followed up on some of the hooks and overhand rights, I could have gotten him out of there.
I’ve always wanted to fight Adrien Broner. I want to make that.
ERICK fupa
Vazquez was awkward and hard to fight. I gave it my all in there.
I’m thankful for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym and working on some things before I return to the ring.
