The press conference signified the return of boxing to New York for the first time since a controversial insurance measure instituted by the New York State Government. Participants were on hand to discuss the exciting doubleheader on 一月 14 and celebrating the long awaited return of boxing to The Big Apple.

Both Jack and DeGale retained their titles on SHOWTIME in April. Jack kept his belt via a controversial split draw against Lucian Bute, a match in which many thought Jack had prevailed, while DeGale defeated mandatory challenger Rogelio Medina. Both fighters were sharp; each landed over 60 percent of his respective power punches to set up this showdown for the top spot in the super middleweight division.

Melson to headline November 19 at Foxwoods Casino

紐約, 紐約 (十月 11, 2016) – Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson makes his return to the ring to help the fight against heroin in Staten Island 星期六, 十一月 19 at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

Melson’s fight headlines a DiBella Entertainment promoted Pro-Am card as part of the recently relocated but wildly popular Broadway Boxing series. This fight card is a special event. Broadway Boxing by way of Lou DiBella, is offering a Veterans Appreciation fight card with 4 of the undercard bouts consisting of Cadets from the West Point Boxing Team boxing against Cadets from the Coast Guard Academy.

Living and fighting out of New York City, Melson’s made a name for himself in and out of the ring. His outstanding professional ledger stands at 15-1-1 同 4 knockouts and in May 2015 he won the WBC-USNBC junior middleweight championship by dominating Mike Ruiz. Since the victory, he’s spent most of his time doing public speaking around the country as well as raising funds and awareness for various charitable causes such as Suicide Prevention among Armed Forces Veterans, working with disadvantaged youth and helping fight drug addiction among youth and young adults.

Following the match, Melson’s donating 100% of his purse to help combat the severe heroin problem across Staten Island, 紐約.

“I was fortunate enough to have had a meeting with the Staten Island District Attorney Mike McMahon a few weeks ago,” said Melson. “My dear brother Ibrahim Kurtulus arranged my requested meeting I asked him to help set up after I read an article published in May of 2016 discussing the heroin plague in that borough. The article stated that through May of this year, there were 40 reported deaths in Staten Island due to overdosing on heroin. During my meeting with McMahon, he told me that the number is now at 70. McMahon forced the issue to have a change in the local law in Staten Island where users arrested for using heroin will be sentenced to rehabilitation instead of prison. The commencement date for this policy has not yet begun.”

“I need to come out of retirement so I can start going to bat for the people in the borough of Staten Island. Staten Island is the borough that I spent my childhood in while growing up in Brooklyn. I was a frequent visitor at Bayley Seton Hospital as a child for weekly allergy shots, Fort Wadsworth to visit my friends and on Arthur Kill Road to visit my aunt. I decided that I needed to find a way to help and draw attention within the five boroughs to Staten Island; a borough that residents say they feel forgotten in. I also decided that I am going to donate my purse to an organization within the borough aimed at helping addicts once they leave their rehabilitation. It also means a lot to me as a West Point graduate that I’ll have the opportunity to box on a card with Cadets that are coached by the same man that coached me while I was a Cadet in Colonel Dr. Ray Barone.”

“I’d like to thank Lou DiBella for this great opportunity. He has been an incredible supporter of my career and what I’ve fought for every single punch of the way and he his actions always remind me of this. I considered myself retired from boxing after my last fight. I told my family that I am done boxing. I have not been boxing or in the gym for a year and a half. After reading that article on the heroin problem in Staten Island, I could not sit around helpless when I believed I could help. Heroin is the number one issue harming the quality of life in Staten Island as well as the taker of lives. So I decided to suffer one more time with making weight and getting in shape so that the people of Staten Island know that they are not facing this plague of heroin alone. My family has a history of addiction so I understand how severe it can be.”

Tevin Farmer ready for all comers

Farmer of Philadelphia has won 15 fights in a row and is now ranked number-five by the WBC at 130-pounds.

They are quietly slowing him down because they know he’s not ready. We have had our share of back and forth on social media but the ball is in his court. Sometimes the fans get fooled. A fight between us is simple to make all he has to do is tell Floyd he wants it. Floyd is the most powerful man in the sport. He could get the fight done easy. Davis came to Philly and asked to spar me. That showed me all I needed to know about Gervontae Davis. Why would we spar for free when we can get paid to fight? He doesn’t want to fight me and it’s time to move on.”

“I’m not worried about what’s going to happen next. I know what’s next if I take care of my business. If I win I’m guaranteed a chance at the world title. I want the title fight sooner rather than later.
“We try to break down an opponent’s weakness in camp. But we’re also looking at what they do right. We have to capitalize on everything. My trainer will watch the video and talk about what he sees. It’s a lot of communication in the gym.
“I love sparring with younger guys. Preferably amateurs or guys who just turned pro. They have more to prove in a sparring session. They really push me and help make me better.

He fights with much more intelligence than his ring age. He’s a master of controlling the ring. When I watch this kid fight I’m always blown away.
“On Sunday 斯彭斯JR. is fighting a real professional and he has a chance to prove something on national television. This is a great forum for him to follow the Olympic Gold medal basketball game. The 26-year-old will take on once-beaten Italian contender 倫納德 “獅子” Bundu in a welterweight world title eliminator that headlines 總理拳擊冠軍 上 NBC 星期天, 八月 21 from Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn.
Televised coverage begins on NBC at 5 P.M. AND/2 P.M. PT following the Olympic Men’s Basketball Gold Medal Game. For Spence Jr., it was the experience of being around world class athletes such as the members of the USA Men’s Basketball team that he remembers most vividly about his time in London.
“I’ll never forget meeting all of the athletes that I had grown up watching,” 斯彭斯說JR. “I got to meet Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, the Williams sisters and Usain Bolt. Just being able to talk to them and be around them was amazing. I was an Olympian just like them.
“It was a big moment for me when people like that would recognize me and tell me they were going to come watch me fight. That’s something I’ll always remember.”

Ivan Baranchyk Joins Four State Franchise; Signs with Holden Productions

塔爾薩, 行 (八月 13, 2016) – Holden Productions has announced the signing of unbeaten junior welterweight sensation Ivan Baranchyk to a promotional agreement. As a member of Holden Productions’ stable, Baranchyk joins the Four State Franchise.
Holden Productions will promote the 23-year-old along with DiBella Entertainment and Fight Promotions Inc. The Four State Franchise, which regularly fights in front of sold out crowds packed with energized fans, also includes Trey Lippe-Morrison, Kenzie Witt-Morrison, 賈勒特勞斯, Dillon Cook and Jesse Cook.
Living and fighting out of Brooklyn, NY by way of Russia, Baranchyk is 11-0 同 10 勝淘汰賽. Baranchyk’s last two bouts were held in Tulsa at the Buffalo Run Casino, where he knocked out previously unbeaten foes Nicholas Givhan and Eliseo Cruz. The all-action brawler, who scored a highlight reel one punch knockout against Givhan, became an instant hit at the Buffalo Run and a fighter Tony Holden had his eye on.
Holden said of Baranchyk, “The fans here love him and I’ve had Ivan on my radar since his first appearance here. I’m glad we were able to get this done and I believe he has what it takes to go a very long way in this sport. JAMAL JAMES
“I didn’t want to get into a slugfest with him because I knew I had to get those points back (after getting dropped in the first round). I knew I had to make him pay for those misses. I was able to get points off that in the second half of the fight.
“He was throwing some wild shots. I just had to adjust to that. I felt like my defense was good on the inside.
“His shots were coming wide, and I was catching those from the inside. The second half of the fight I definitely came on hard and was putting on pressure. We waited so long that I think it might have had a little effect on my energy.
“I thought I out boxed him 今晚 and deserved the decision. I believe that it was close, so I have no problem with the judges ruling it a split decision, 但我贏了.
“I’d definitely fight him again. I have to be able to beat guys like him, and in better fashion, if I want to be a champion.”

“He’s not a technically sound boxer, so I knew if I just stuck with technique and boxed him that I would catch him.
“I wanted to land the right hand, but I wanted to be careful because he has a lot of power.
