Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Agosti 13, 2025) - Phase 3: The Quarterfinals of theWBC Boxing Grand Prix delivered thrilling upsets and spectacular knockouts across nearly 9 hours of commercial free boxing on DAZN as the crowd at the Cool Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia saw 32 fighters from 15 different countries in four different weight classes attempted to stamp their ticket to the tournament semifinals.

“We saw a compilation of great talent from all over the world. The boxers that fought tonight will be local heroes when they come back home,” said WBC President and tournament organizerMauricio Sulaiman. “This is something that just keeps getting better. I can’t wait for the Semifinals in October, and then the Grand Finale in December.”

All 16 fighters who advanced will compete in October on a date to be determined.

Here is a recap of the night in Riyadh.

Kupambana ya usiku: Middleweights Carlos Sinisterra (Colombia) 13-1 (10 Kos) KO Ephrem Bariko (Ufaransa) 12-1 (6 Kos)

Bariko dominated the first two rounds and started the third with strong, precise combinations that were hitting the target. Hata hivyo, everything turned in an instant as the Colombian standout cornered Bariko and rained down blows that the Frenchman couldn’t withstand.

Sinisterra won by knockout will now face Canada’s Derek Pomerleau in a middleweight Semifinal clash that promises to be one of the best fights of the Grand Prix.

Pomerleau (14-0, 11 Kos) defeated Ukrainre’s Dmytro Rybalko with a devastating four punch combo that earned him the TKO win in round two and a spot in the Semis.

Upset of the Night: Featherweights Muhamet Qamili (Italia) 17-0 (7 Kos) vs Troy Nash (USA) 5-1 (1 KO)

The upset of the night was made possible by the WBC’s enhanced scoring system, which allows judges to gauge the decisiveness of each fighter’s performance in each round as a tiebreaker in the event of a draw. That was the case during the most anticipated fight of the night, which also delivered perhaps its most unexpected result in a battle between undefeated prospects.

The three judges scored the bout 58-56 in favor of Nash, 58-56 for Qamili and 57-57 mtiririko. In any other contest, the fight would have been declared a split draw. Hata hivyo, the enhanced scoring system revealed that two judges saw it 5-4 na 4-2 in favor of Qamili, who went down to his knees and hugged his team after having his hand raised.

“Troy Nash is a future superstar. It was his fifth fight, and his opponent was very tough in a close fight. He will learn and come out better from it,” Sulaiman said after the fight.

Breakout of the Night: Heavyweight Kevin Ramírez (Argentina) (11-0-1, 4 Kos) UD over Piotr Lacz (Poland) (14-1-0, 10 Kos)

Argentina’s Kevin Ramirez, a natural cruiserweight fighting in the heavyweight division for this tournament, prevailed in a close enhanced scoring system decision over Poland’s Piotr Lacz, who outweighed him by 18 pounds after the official weigh-in on Tuesday.

Ramírez, who works as a trash collector to fund his boxing career, swept the judges off their feet with decisive rounds that showcased his effective combinations and an overall superior effectiveness in landing punches throughout the fight.

The Buenos Aires native will now face USA´s Dante Stone in what will be an even more daunting challenge in the semifinals. Stone weighed in at 257.9 pounds for his quarterfinal fight, while Ramírez did so at 204.

MAELEZO:

· USA went 1-3 during the quarterfinals. Stone was the only one who prevailed on the American side by unanimous decision over Morocco’s Youness Baalla.

· Mexico didn’t fare better with a 1-2 record as featherweight Brandon Mejia closed the night with a unanimous decision win over Ayubkhon Bakhtiyorov. Emiliano Aguillón lost to France’s Lancelot Proton de la Chappelle with an enhanced scoring system decision.

· The semifinals are set for October with 16 wapiganaji, four in each weight class, left vying for a spot in the championship Finals. The October date is to be announced in the coming weeks. Visit theWBC´s official website for the latest updates.

Onyesho la Kuchungulia Wikendi ya Michezo ya Kupambana: UFC Vegas 107 & Maonyesho ya Ndondi

By: Rich Bergeron

Co-Kuu Tukio: Washindani Wepesi Wagongana

Goli la Mbrazil huyo limeonyesha kuimarika, though his tendency toward wild exchanges can create opportunities for technical strikers like Jacoby to capitalize.

Middleweight Prospects Square Off

Zachary Resse faces Dusko Todorovic in a middleweight bout between developing prospects seeking breakthrough performances.

Zachary Resse has shown flashes of potential with well-rounded skills and improved fight IQ. His wrestling base provides a foundation, while his striking continues developing. Resse’s ability to mix takedowns with striking exchanges keeps opponents guessing.

Dusko Todorovic brings European striking experience and knockout power. The Serbian’s boxing combinations and counter-striking ability make him dangerous in exchanges. His takedown defense has been tested but shows room for improvement against persistent wrestlers.

Preliminary Card Highlights

Plant’s recent setback against Canelo Alvarez provided a valuable learning experience in making championship-level adjustments. His ability to implement lessons learned from that bout and maintain his technical advantages will be crucial moving forward.

Jose Armando Resendiz enters as a live underdog with legitimate upset potential. His pressure-heavy fighting style and willingness to engage in exchanges could create problems for any fighters who prefers operating at a distance.

Resendiz’s success depends on closing distance, roughing up Plant on the inside, and making the fight ugly. His conditioning and ability to maintain pressure throughout rounds will determine his upset chances.

Jermall Charlo Returns

Jermall Charlo faces Thomas LaManna in what marks the return of one of boxing’s most talented middleweights. Charlo’s extended absence from active competition raises questions about ring rust and timing.

Jermall CHARLO possesses elite-level power and boxing ability. His left hook can end fights instantly, while his overall skill set places him among the division’s best talents. The long layoff creates uncertainty about his current form and motivation.

Charlo’s jab sets up power shots effectively, and his ability to fight effectively at range makes him versatile. His return bout selection suggests a careful approach to returning to championship-level activity.

Thomas LaManna provides a suitable opponent for Charlo’s comeback. His durability and willingness to engage should provide adequate testing without overwhelming risk for the returning champion.

Rising Contender Action

Kyrone Davis meets Yoenli Hernandez in supporting action that could have implications for future title contention in their respective weight classes.

Davis represents American boxing’s developing talent pipeline, with technical skills and improving power. His amateur background provides a solid foundation for professional success.

Hernandez brings international experience and proven durability. His ability to make adjustments mid-fight and capitalize on any opponent’s mistakes makes him a dangerous opponent for any fighter.

Friday Night Boxing

Manuel Gallegos faces Khalil Coe on Friday, Mei 30, 2025, from Guadalajara, Mexico, kicking off the weekend’s boxing action. This bout will be available on DAZN.

The international setting provides an excellent atmosphere for competitive boxing. Both fighters enter with points to prove and opportunities to establish themselves in their respective divisions.

Analysis and Predictions

UFC Vegas 107 Outlook

The Blanchfield vs. Barber main event represents genuine title eliminator potential in the women’s flyweight division. Both fighters sit near championship contention, making this bout crucial for future title shot considerations.

Blanchfield’s grappling advantages appear significant on paper, but Barber’s athletic gifts and improved fight IQ could create competitive exchanges. The fight likely comes down to Barber’s takedown defense and ability to create damage during stand-up exchanges.

The co-main event between Gamrot and Klein provides excellent stylistic contrast. Gamrot’s wrestling should prove decisive unless Klein can implement a perfect gameplan of distance management and takedown defense.

Boxing Event Analysis

Plant’s return represents significant interest for boxing fans. His technical skills remain elite-level, but questions about motivation and ring timing following the Canelo defeat create intrigue.

Charlo’s comeback carries more uncertainty due to his extended absence. His natural talent suggests success against LaManna, but ring rust and timing issues could create competitive moments.

After promoting so many of the originalHollywood Fight Nightboxing shows in Hollywood, I am excited to return to my hometown and promote a special show that focuses on raising awareness to the very often ignored and overlooked aspect of mental health and wellness in the boxing industry. Together with 555 Media, we will continue to build on the long history of star-studded boxing events in Hollywood.
Steve Bash, Bash Boxing

“Katika 2014, the WBC and WBC Cares joined with the USA Congressional Mental Health Task Force. We are grateful to Congresswoman Grace Napolitano and Mía St. John for bringing us together. Every May our athletes wear the green ribbon and dedicate their fights in our 176 countries to Mental Health Awareness. Mental Health is the core mission of WBC Cares.
Jill Diamond, WBC Cares Global Chair

As the Chief Wellbeing Officer for Athletes for Hope, I believe it’s crucial to spotlight the mental health of boxers. Studies indicate that one in four people will struggle with mental health issues each year, and this is often magnified in high-intensity sports like boxing. The physical demands are well-known, but the mental resilience required is often overlooked. It’s time we break the silence and ensure boxers have the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the ring.
Dr. Mena Mirhom, Chief Wellbeing Officer, Athletes for Hope

Currently on the strength of three straight victories, Santiago captured the WBO NABO Jr. Welterweight Title last June when he defeated Angel Fierro via unanimous decision, and on March 1, Santiago will attempt to defend his title for the third time. Starting his impressive career off with an undefeated record of 12-0, Santiago earned a shot against former Undisputed Lightweight World Champion Devin Haney for the WBC Lightweight World Championship in November 2019. While coming up short, Santiago has proven that he belongs in the upper echelon of the Jr. Welterweight Division.

Following a decorated amateur career with numerous national and international tournament wins, Bravo turned professional in 2015 when he defeated Nestor Ortiz via knockout. Previously holding the WBC Latino Lightweight Title and the WBO NABO Super Lightweight Title, Bravo pursues another belt when he faces his toughest test to date in Ndongeni.

Recently challenging for the vacant WBO Latino Lightweight Title, Ndongeni looks to insert himself back into the win column against Bravo. A tenured competitor, Ndongeni has held the WBF International Featherweight Title, IBO International Lightweight Title, and WBF Lightweight Title. With ample experience against undefeated prospects, Ndongeni aims to give the rising Bravo his first defeat.

Kicking off the night live on DAZN and in a quick turnaround, Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Pryce Taylor returns to action against Arizona’sTrevor Kotara(4-3-1, 1 KO) following his second-round knockout victory over Jerell Nettles on February 2. Standing at 6-foot-4, Taylor is a former collegiate basketball player and has won two New York Golden Gloves title.

Undefeated bantamweight prospect Dominique “Dimes” Crowder Ready to cash in on The Boardwalk

Streaming live Nov. 16th on DAZN from Tropicana Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Oktoba 31, 2024) - Undefeated blue-chip bantamweight prospect Dominique “Dimes” Crowder (17-0, 10 Kos) is ready to cash in November 16th on Boxing Insider Promotions’ loaded card, streaming live on DAZN from The Showroom at Tropicana Atlantic City.

Crowder. the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) International bantamweight champion, is currently rated No. 14 in the world by the WBA. Trained by Jose Guzman and Hall of Famer Mark Breland, “Dimes” is a two-time New York Golden Gloves Champion rated No. 1 nationally in his weight class during his amateur career.

“I’m super excited to be on this card in Atlantic City,” the 30-year-old Crowder said. “I’m glad (event promoter) Larry Goldberg made it happen. All the greats fought there and it’s not too far from my hometown, about a two-hour drive. I’ll have a lot of support on fight night from people in Baltimore and New York City.”

Crowder takes on Duke Micah (24-2, 19 Kos), ya Ghana, in an eight-round bout on The Boardwalk. Micah is a former EBC International, Commonwealth Boxing Council and WBO African bantamweight champion.

“I have known Dominique since he was an amateur when I used to sponsor him,” Goldberg commented. “I have been his friend for years and watched his career progress to 17-0. He has a great team with Jose Guzman, Mark Breland, and his manager Adam Glenn. ‘Dimes’ is one of the best free agents in boxing and just an amazing human being.”

Crowder started boxing at the age of 14 in Baltimore. He fell in love with the sport and quickly discovered that he was a natural boxer. New York City is the home of his training camp for each fight in order to enhance his pro career, going back and forth to his Baltimore home on a regular basis.

Guzman has been training Crowder since the latter part of 2017 and he’s extremely high on his protégé. “Dominique is one of those diamonds in the rough from his amateur days,” Guzman noted.

“Everybody knew he was a very slick boxer who was hard to hit, but nobody thought he could hit. As a pro, he’s turned into a boxer-puncher. He didn’t train very much as an amateur because he was so naturally gifted, he didn’t need to. He’s more mature now. Dominique is one of those guys who eats and breathes boxing 24/7. If he’s not in the gym, he’s home watching boxing from back in the day. He is a student of the game.

“He’s the WBA International champion and the question is who is willing to fight him at 118? Yeye 6 feet tall, long, and rangy like Mark Breland and Tommy Hearns, na (for his size) Dominique can hit like them.”

Crowder describes his style as a good puncher who is fundamentally sound but can also mix it up pending the situation in the ring. Because of his advantageous height fighting at bantamweight, Crowder watches and in the ring, he attempts to simulate long, rangy fighters such as Mark Breland, Tommy Hearns, Michael Nunn, and Diego Corrales.

The four world bantamweight champions of the major sanctioning bodies are all from Japan and Crowder realizes he may have to travel halfway around the world for his seemingly impending world title shot.

“Boxing is a waiting game,” Dominque explained, “and I need to stay ready until I get that call (world title shot offer). Because I’m ranked, it could happen at any time. Kama si, I’ll keep working hard to move up and become the mandatory challenger. Hopefully, my chance could happen next year. I’m getting better and better and I’m always fighting bigger guys than me at training camp, real punchers, never guys my weight.“I’m willing to go to the moon to get my world title shot! I’ll only get one shot at my first world title fight, so I’ll roll the dice and fight anywhere in the world.

Another rising star, Chattanooga (TN) welterweight Avious Griffin (15-0, 14 Kos), headlines in an eight-round bout versus Adrian Gutierrez (12-2-1, 6 Kos). Power-punching Griffin, a former Tennessee State Champion, is trained by Brian “Bomac” McIntyre, who is best known for developing All-World boxer Terence “Bud” Crawford.

Another pair of potential stars who will be in action in six-round bouts are Long Island (NY) super middleweight Donte Layne (4-0, 4 Kos) vs. Shaquille Cameron (7-3, 6 Kos) in a match presented in association with Overtime Boxing, and Paterson (NJ) junior middleweight Dwyke Flemmings, Jr. (8-0, 8 Kos) vs. TBA.

Layne, 21, was a celebrated amateur who captured gold medals at the 2022 na 2021 USA National Championships and National Golden Gloves Tournament; the 20-year-old Flemmings, Jr., kutoka Paterson (NJ), won a silver medal at the 2018 USA Junior Olympics.

A popular Atlantic City trio of fighters will also be in action: junior middleweight Justin “Mr. Atlantic City” Figueroa (10-0, 8 Kos) vs. Imar Rosales (9-3-1, 5 Kos) in a six-rounder, along with heavyweight Bruce “Atlantic City Express 2.0” Seldon, Jr. (3-0, 3 Kos) – the son of former (WBA) Heavyweight Champion Bruce Seldon, Sr. — vs. Julio Mendoza (3-4, 2 Kos), and undefeated lightweight Francisco Rodriguez (5-0, 5 Kos) vs. TBA in a pair of four-round matches.

A pair of potential female world title contenders, Philadelphia welterweight Stacia “The Natural” Suttles and Hawaiian lightweight Shere Mae Patricio (2-0, 1 KO) will also be showcased in four-round fights vs. opponents to be determined.

Suttles, who was born in New York City, ilikuwa 2016 USA Women’s National Championships gold medalist. Patrick, 21, won a gold medal at the 2023 USA Women’s National Golden Gloves and 2022 USA Women’s National Championships. She will face Sarah “Switch Kick” Click (1-7-1).

Also in action will be undefeated Italian junior welterweight Giacomo Micheli (8-0, 6 Kos), who takes on Ronnell “Punisher” Burnett (11-1, 7 Kos) katika pambano nane mzima. Micheli was a standout amateur in Italy.
