BEY WRECKS ESCANDON IN MAIN EVENT OF SWIFT PROMOTIONS “THE FUTURE IS NOW: SERIES II” EVENT SATURDAY NIGHT FROM THE NEWTOWN SPORTS & EVENTS CENTER IN NEWTOWN, PA

Teenage Phenom “King” David Garcia Scores Quick Stoppage on Stacked Event Streamed Live onMillions.co

PHILADELPHIA – June 7, 2025 - Boxing legendDanny Garcia’s Swift Promotionsaangebied“The Future Is Now: Series IISaterdagaand, as perennial fan favorite Mickey “Time Machine” Bey reasserted his presence as a top lightweight contender with an impressive and dominant third-round TKO over fellow former world champion Oscar Escandon at 2:03 of round three in the main event from the Newtown Sports & Events Center in Newtown, Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia.

The action streamed live onMillions.co or through theMillions App.

Bey (26-3-1, 14 Uitklophoue) a native of Cleveland, Ohio, who now trains in Philadelphia, looked sharp in battering former WBC Interim World Featherweight Champion Escandon (27-10, 18 Uitklophoue) throughout the abbreviated contest.

Bey appeared to shake the Colombian Escandon with a left hook and had him bleeding steadily after round one. Bey dropped Escandon with a sharp salvo of shots at the end of round two and again in round three, prompting the responsible stoppage from Referee Eric Dali.

“I just had a ball in there like a kid in the candy store,” said Bey, post-stryd. “I didn’t want to rush it. I knew he was looking to land something big, so I put the work in, in the gym. I knew what I was doing with my brain, but I just let my body do what I trained for. I’m older now, that’s why I’m the ‘Time Machine.’ I probably have a handful of fights left. I’m here for a good time, not a long time. We have some big plans after this.”

Hard-hitting 22-year-old Russian super featherweight prospect Dariial Kuchmenov (9-0, 7 Uitklophoue) showed off a formidable variety of offensive tools while stopping normally durable Mexican journeyman Diuhl “Elegante” Olguin (17-45-7, 10 Uitklophoue) at the end of the sixth round.

Now fighting out of Los Angeles via Nalchik, Rusland, the 5’ 10” Kuchmenov towered over Olguin and proceeded to unload a furious arsenal of power punches and virtually ignore any return fire until his Mexican Californian opponent signaled he had suffered enough.

The official time was 3:00 of round six and all three judges had Kuchmenov winning by a shutout 60-54 at the time of the stoppage.

16-year-old bantamweight boxing prodigy “King” David Garcia continued his historic rise in the professional ranks with a quick demolition of MMA fighter Marcelino Rangel (1-2).

Phoenix, Arizona’s Garcia (4-0, 3 Uitklophoue), a four-time national champion as an amateur, had too many gifts for Rangel, who crumbled from the powerful onslaught from the teenage sensation at 2:53 van die opening raam.

“It’s a blessing. I wasn’t really looking for it but, it just came,” said Garcia of the knockout. “I felt like the time was right. He was moving around a lot, so I had to cut the ring off and land some power shots. I felt the time was right to trap him in the corner and demolish him.”

Rising welterweight prospect Thanjhae Teasley (13-0, 6 Uitklophoue) continued his ascension with a clear six-round unanimous decision over 30-fight veteran Nelson Morales.

26-year-old Teasley looked sharp against his former sparring partner Morales, banging him with wilting left hooks to the body and strong combinations to the head throughout the action. The iron-chinned Morales, stopped just two times against a long list of top competitors in his career, was able to survive the onslaught and offered moderate resistance.

At the end of the action, the scores were academic at 60-54 by all three judges.

Formerly world-ranked bantamweight Jonathan Rodriguez (18-3-1, 7 Uitklophoue) shook off the rust from 11 months of inactivity and got back in the win column with a unanimous eight-round decision over durable Colombian veteran Jesus Martinez (38-27-1, 16 Uitklophoue).

Rodriguez got in eight workmanlike rounds of work from the well-traveled Martinez, but the outcome was never in doubt. Upping the pace in the last round, Rodriguez was able to briefly hurt Martinez in a standout round eight for him.

Die tellings was 80-72, 80-72 en 79-73.

Promising 18-year-old super lightweight prospect Elijah “Macho” Gonzalez (2-0, 2 Uitklophoue) scored an entertaining fourth-round knockout over Codi Chavez (0-2).

In against an offensively gifted and younger foe, the game, but outgunned, Chavez was already bleeding from the nose by the end of round one and was dropped twice in round four. The first knockdown came from a perfect Gonzalez left hook and the finishing blow was a flush right to the jaw, which prompted Referee Shawn Clark to wave it off at 1:31 van die vierde ronde.

To open the night’s action, former amateur standout Rommel “Ro” Dunbar Jr. (1-0) made a successful professional debut at super featherweight by taking a dominant four-round unanimous decision over Denzel Bowlding (0-6). A three-time state champion before turning pro, Dunbar stayed busy throughout, working especially well to Bowlding’s body against the ropes.

All three judges had it 40-36.

Hier is wat die perskonferensie-deelnemers Dinsdag moes sê:

ERROL SPENCE JR.

I feel blessed and ready to go. I feel like I’m 100% fisies. We’ve been training hard and staying focused. I can’t wait to give my hometown fans something to cheer for when I defend my title against a great opponent.

I didn’t want any tune-up fights. I wanted someone who is tough and who could push me to the limit, so I can get back to being Errol Spence Jr. I’m going to give a great performance and hear ‘and still’ Desember 5.

I picked Danny Garcia so that I could rise to the occasion. I’m still the top dog in the division. Fighting Danny will show how great a fighter I am.

Danny’s dad gets me hyped up talking about his son coming forward, throwing a lot of punches and taking the belts from me. So I’ll be ready for whatever Danny brings to the ring. I’m not going to get into any head games like with Shawn Porter. I fought Shawn’s game and beat him at his own game. I know Angel wants me to stand there and brawl with Danny, but I’m going to do what I have to do to win the fight.

It’s up to me to make a big splash coming back from my car accident. Lesser opponents were for before I became champion. I finally got to the top, where I can fight the big names, so I’m not going backward. These are the guys I’ve wanted to fight forever.

I definitely learn more from Danny’s wins. He has a lot of great wins. You learn a lot from all different kinds of fights. I’m a student of the game and a fan of the sport. All I do anyway is watch boxing. So I’m very familiar with Danny’s wins and losses.

The accident just made me hungrier and even more focused. I have the same hunger now that I had before I won the title. I’m coming into camp much lighter and it’s helping me have an even better camp.

I’m the champ, and at the end of the day, I can just fight. When it gets down to the wire, I know how to dig down deep and come out on top.

It means everything to be fighting at home, especially with everyone going through the pandemic. I just want everyone who comes out to be safe and follow the protocols, and we’ll make it a great night.

DANNY GARCIA

“Kamp is aan die gang groot. My weight is good and I feel like we’re ahead of schedule. Now we’re just taking it one day at a time. I’m excited to be in this position to fight for the title again.

“Op Desember 5, no stone will be unturned. We’re going to give it 110% and take these titles from him in his hometown.

I’ve been an underdog my whole career. I’m used to playing that role. I just have to go in there and be myself. I have to believe in myself 100% and fight round by round. I’m going to show what a true champion is made of.

After the Garcia and Porter fights, I saw some holes in his game and I knew it would be a good opportunity to become champion again. These type of fights bring out the best in Danny Garcia. They give me the extra motivation that I need and that’s why I wanted it.

I thought Spence was the bigger and better man against Mikey Garcia. Mikey has great skills, but Errol had size and let his hands go. It made Mikey freeze, so he didn’t take any risks. He did land some good counterpunches, and those are the kind of things that I’m taking into consideration during this camp.

My job is to fight. I can’t go in there and worry about judges. They’re going to do what they do. My job is to put in the work in the gym so that I’m ready on fight night. I have to go in there and win rounds and win the fight.

I know that I’m a great fighter. I’ve been in these type of fights before. I know what I’m made of. As long as I’m mentally and physically at my best, nobody can beat me. I’m a dangerous man when I have this focus.

We’re taking this fight like Errol is 100%. We’re not banking on anything hindering him. We’re taking this as seriously as possible. We wanted this fight a long time ago, but we just had to stay focused. Now the fight is finally here and I feel like we’re going to have a great performance.

I believe that I do everything great. I can bang inside and box. That’s why I’m a three-time world champion. I’ve faced every style imaginable and I’ve come out on top.

DERRICK JAMES, Spence se afrigter

Training camp has been really good. We’ve been putting in the hard work since March. Everything is coming together leading up to December 5. We took our time and it was a gradual process getting to this point. He was already in shape by the time this camp started so we had a great head start.

Even when Errol was getting back into his rhythm, he was still looking good. But you could see the improvement day after day as he got more comfortable being back. Everyone will see on December 5 who Errol Spence Jr. really is.

It’s great to be able to fight at home against a fighter like Danny. Putting on a great performance will build Errol’s legend and his stock will continue to rise. Errol has always been able to handle fighting in front of his hometown fans. We love everything that the city brings us and we feed off that energy in the ring.

ANGEL GARCIA, Garcia’s Father & Trainer

Everything has been perfect in camp. You can see how good he’s looking right now. Danny would be ready to go tomorrow if we had to. It’s going to be a great night for me and Danny. Not taking anything from anybody, but we’re coming to take those titles.

I never look at opponent’s tapes from past fights. We’re not going to learn anything from that. When I train Danny, I focus on Danny. All I know is how to make Danny better. We’re going to dictate the fight and be on top of Errol. We’re not going to fight like Mikey Garcia did and run all night.

“Hierdie keer, we’re not going to leave it in the judges’ hande. We chose to go fight him in Dallas. Danny made that call. Aan die einde van die dag, Danny just has to go in there and do his thing.

TOM BROWN, President van TGB Promotions

“Errol Spence Jr. vs. Danny Garcia is one of the most intriguing fights of this year and it is a fight that will determine who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

This will be a tremendous night of boxing and it will be at the home of the best pro sports franchise in the world, BY&T Stadium. This is the perfect host for a matchup with two fighters in their prime, both ready to put their legacies on the line.

Spence is one of the most talked about fighters in the sport. Many consider him to be the best fighter in the world, and with good reason. He wants to be challenged and this is the type of fight that elevates our sport.

Danny Garcia is a throwback fighter. He’s one of the most skilled and battle tested fighters in our sport. What he did at 140 pond, before moving up, was simply amazing. Putting these two together will bring back memories of great welterweight battles of the past.

DANNY GARCIA TRAINING CAMP QUOTES

Two-Division World Champion Garcia Prepares for WBC Welterweight Title Eliminator Against Hard-Hitting Ivan Redkach Saturday, Januarie 25 Woon op Showtime® van Barclays Center in Brooklyn

PHILADELPHIA (Januarie 15, 2020) – Twee-afdeling wêreldkampioen Danny “Swift” Garcia is eager for another crack at returning to the championship ranks, but knows that he can’t look past the hard-hitting John “Die Verskriklike” REDK when they face off in a WBC Welterweight Title Eliminator Saturday, Januarie 25 woon op Showtime van Barclays Center, die huis van BROOKLYN boks ™, in 'n Premier Bokskampioenskap-byeenkoms.

I’m just taking it one fight at a time,” Said Garcia. “I’ve been that way my whole career. I know that you can’t overlook anyone. I’m totally locked in on Ivan, and that’s it.

We’re just working hard and working smart. We’re making the necessary adjustments for Redkach specifically, but this is just another fighter in front of us. I noticed that he’s really hungry. He obviously wants to win, and he’s coming off of three solid victories. He has his confidence back now. I just have to be ready for whatever he brings to the table on January 25.

Redkach is coming off a career-best victory in June, when he knocked out former two-division champion Devon Alexander in his first fight campaigning at welterweight. It was Redkach’s third straight victory since losing to John Molina Jr. in a memorable 2017 firefight that saw both men hit the canvas.

I caught some highlights of his fight against Devon, but not the whole fight,” Said Garcia. “I saw the full Molina fight though, and I know what I’m up against. Molina caught him, but before that, Ivan was doing well. He just got careless. So I just have to be on my A-game and make no mistakes.

Garcia’s last outing was a victory in April over veteran contender Adrian Granados that was notable in that Garcia flashed impressive power in becoming the first person to ever knock out the durable Granados.

I feel like my new conditioning coach has really been able to help me with different kinds of strength training,” Said Garcia. “We’re hitting different muscle groups and it definitely showed against Granados.

With his return to Barclays Center on January 25, Garcia makes his eighth headlining appearance at the venue, die meeste van enige vegter. Garcia also holds the arena’s single event boxing attendance record, for his 2017 welterweight title unification showdown against Keith Thurman. The Philadelphia-native has made a boxing home just a couple of hours up I-95 from his hometown, starting with headlining the venue’s first boxing event in 2012.

It’s just a great atmosphere in Brooklyn and at Barclays Center,” Said Garcia. “The fans there have gotten to know me really well, and all my fans in Philly can make the quick drive up. They love to watch me fight there and they know when Danny Garcia comes to New York, it’s going to be a great night of boxing.

With a win in this title eliminator, Garcia would put himself in line for the WBC welterweight title held by unified champion Errol Spence Jr. Garcia has also been rumored as a possible next opponent for WBA Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao. If one of those two opponents are next for Garcia, he is confident in his abilities to become world champion again.

I feel like my style is dangerous for both Spence and Pacquiao,” Said Garcia. “For Errol, I see he likes to stand in front of his opponents and he isn’t the hardest guy to hit. With Manny, I feel like my counter punching and style would also be hard for him. So, I like my chances against both of them.

Kaartjies vir die geleentheid, which is promoted by TGB Promotions and DSG Promotions, is nou te koop en kan gekoop word by ticketmaster.com en barclayscenter.com. The fight against Redkach will be Garcia’s eighth appearance at Barclays Center.

García (35-2, 21 Uitklophoue) is the latest in a long line of great boxers from Philadelphia who have made their mark on the sport. His run through the super lightweight division and two-year reign as a unified champion is one of the most impressive in modern history as he defeated a string of champions, including Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, Erik Morales, Amir Khan, Zab Juda en Lucas Matthysse.

After dominating the super lightweight division, the 31-year-old García moved up to welterweight where he won the vacant WBC title with a unanimous decision over Robert Guerrero in 2016. He lost a split decision to Thurman in a unification match in 2017 and dropped a narrow unanimous decision to Shawn Porter for the WBC title in 2018. García and many pundits thought he won both those matches. In sy laaste stryd, García scored a spectacular knockout victory over Adrian Granados on April 20 to get back into position to regain the welterweight crown.

“I’m very excited to be headlining another SHOWTIME card and to go back to Barclays Center, my home away from home,” said García. “I can’t wait to step in the ring in Brooklyn and give fans the Danny García show. I watched a few of Redkach’s recent fights and he had a great knockout win over two-time champion Devon Alexander. So, I know he’s a tough fighter and competitor who I expect to bring the best out of me, and he’s someone who deserves this opportunity. But January 25 is tax season, so I’m going to have to tax him and pay him with a reality check.”

REDK (23-4-1, 18 Uitklophoue) has his sights set on winning a welterweight title and will face the toughest challenge of his career when he steps in against Garcia. The 33-year-old Redkach, who was born in Shostka, Ukraine and now lives in Los Angeles, is accustomed to stern tests. He started boxing as an amateur in Ukraine where he had over 300 gevegte. When he turned professional he traveled to Mexico to train and develop the “Mexican Style’’ – a style that emphasis standing in the pocket and throwing hard shots to the body.

Things started out slowly for Redkach, but soon he began to hold his own in Mexico and prevailed, earning the nickname “El Terrible’’ from his training partners. Redkach won 14 van sy eerste 18 professional fights by stoppage and has won three in a row, including most recently knocking out former world champion Devon Alexander in June.

“I’m very motivated to take a massive step in my career and get closer to becoming world champion against a strong and accomplished fighter like Danny García,” said Redkach. “I have been to a lot of Danny’s fights and now I get the chance to test myself against him. I am training very hard so that I am the best that I have ever been on January 25. I’m going to shock the boxing world just like I did against Devon Alexander. I’ve never been this hungry before and I’m confident I will win this fight.”

The former WBA and IBF champion at 154-pounds, Hurd (23-1, 16 Uitklophoue) returns to action for the first time since losing his belts via decision against Julian Williams in one of 2019’s best fights. The 29-year-old from Accokeek, Maryland captured his first title by stopping current WBC titlist Tony Harrison in 2017 and then added the WBA belt by defeating Erislandy Lara in 2018’s consensus Fight of the Year. Hurd earned his title opportunity by going on a run of knocking off unbeaten fighters including Frank Galarza and Oscar Molina, and also owns a successful title defense against Austin Trout at Barclays Center in 2017.

“Just because I fell back, doesn’t mean I fell off,” said Hurd. “I’m back and excited to fight at Barclays Center for the third time. I’m bringing the storm back on January and I’m going to make a statement everyone is going to see. You’re not going to want to miss this fight and the best Jarrett Hurd anyone’s seen.”

Santana (25-7-1, 12 Uitklophoue) has taken on the toughest challenges at 154 en 147 pounds and has made his name with an all-action action style throughout a long career as a contender. The 33-year-old will look to bounce back from a close decision loss to Abel Ramos in March, in a fight where Santana dropped Ramos in the second round. Prior to the setback against Ramos, the Santa Barbara, California native was coming off of a victory over Olympic gold medalist Felix Diaz in April 2018. Santana has faced former champions Jermell Charlo and Sadam Ali while also owning a six-round draw against Julian Williams in 2011.

“This is a great opportunity for me against a fighter like Jarrett Hurd,” said Santana. “When you get an opportunity like this, it’s hard to turn it down. My job is to rise to the occasion and have the best moment of my career on fight night. This is my Super Bowl. When I last fought at 154-pounds, I was basically self-trained. Now I have my coach Joseph Janik training me and I really think he’s the missing piece of the puzzle for me. I’m going to go in there and leave it all in the ring January 25.”

The 25-year-old Fulton (17-0, 8 Uitklophoue) has made a rapid rise through the super bantamweight ranks with superb boxing skills, befitting a slick fighter from Philadelphia. Lately Fulton has shown flashes of power that have caught his opponents off guard. In his last fight he stopped Isaac Avelar with a body shot to end their fight in the fifth round on August 24.

Fighting out of Odessa, Ukraine and training for this fight in Los Angeles, Khegai (16-0-1, 10 Uitklophoue) will make his third start in the U.S. Januarie 25, after a successful U.S. debut in in May 2018 when he defeated Adam Lopez on the prospect developmental seriesShoBox: Die nuwe generasie. The 27-year-old has already been victorious twice in 2019, stopping Haidari Mchanjo in March and most recently winning a unanimous decision over Vladimir Tikhonov in August onShoBox.

tony penecale’s Box Fan Expo Ringside report

Deur: Tony Penecale

Quick video intro here:

https://www.facebook.com/TornadoTP/videos/10156003723726436/

Last weekend’s middleweight title showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs also featured the annual Box Fan Expo, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The amazing memorabilia on display and live amateur boxing action complemented an array of past and present world champion fighters available for quick meet and greets.

As a lifelong boxing fan, it was a shame that I only had a little over two hours to spend at the event before heading back to the T-Mobile Arena for the start of the undercard bouts. The time I was able to spend was thoroughly enjoyable. The prices were reasonable to meet these fistic legends and have a few moments to talk and take photos. The average $20 -$25 price for a photo op was significantly less than what would have been lost at the casino in a single roulette spin.

James Toney was there in a suit, proving that he can even make plaid look stylish. For a guy known for a surly nature, he was very accommodating and mentioned he will be in Philadelphia for a live show on June 7 and hopes to see me there.

In the booth next over was Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Al Berstein, who I had the privilege of interviewing in 2011. When told of my admiration of his classy work and being a fan since his days with Barry Tompkins on ESPN’s Thursday Night Fights, he was humble and appreciative.

The line to meet Roy Jones Jr. was long but worth the wait. While the time to talk with Roy was short, I was able to mention what an honor it was to meet one of the greatest performers of my generation and how I sat only a few feet from him when he was on the Creed II set.

While the line to meet the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard was exceptionally long, you could see he was truly enjoying himself, flashing that million-dollar smile and doing his famous fists-raised photo op with fans. Unfortunately, with time running short, I did not have the opportunity to meet one of my favorite fighters growing up. I would have loved to have shown him a photo when I was four-years-old, swinging away on the Sugar Ray Leonard punching bag I was given.

A few feet away was one of Sugar Ray’s most-famous rivals, the great Thomas “Hitman” Hearns. While the Hitman has shown some slowing as he has aged, he still proves to be an imposing figure, but he now replaces that fearsome glare with a warm smile.

Also coming up to meet Thomas Hearns was current IBF Super-Featherweight Champion Tevin Farmer, a fellow Philadelphian, who I’ve had the opportunity to watch grow from a 7-4-1 journeyman boxer to a 29-4-1 wêreldkampioen.

My visit wouldn’t be complete without stopping to see “The Pazmanian Devil” Vinny Paz, always one of my favorite action fighters and charismatic personalities. Instead of a handshake, he greeted me with a big hug and expressed disappointment that my dad didn’t join me at the expo.

In the short time frame, it was impossible to meet all of the great fighters there including Michael Spinks, Riddick Bowe, Errol Spence, Anthony Dirrell, and Earnie Shavers. With it being Cinco de Mayo weekend, the lines for some of the Mexican legends wrapped around the convention center floor. Mikey Garcia, Marco Antonio Barerra, Erik Morales, and Juan Manuel Marquez all proved to be exceptionally popular. But nothing compared to the roar of the pro-Mexican crowd when the great Julio Cesar Chavez was introduced.

Attending this event was a dream come true and I could only wish I had more time to spend at the event. Everything was so professionally done and those in attendance were beyond accommodating.

Kudos to Box Fan Expo for such an exceptional event.

Listen to our radio show episode from earlier this week for more insight from Tony “Die Tornado” Penecale about this event.

CARSON, CALIF. (April 20, 2019) – Former two-division champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (35-2, 21 Uitklophoue) gedaal Adrian Granados (20-7-2, 14 Uitklophoue) three times before stopping him in round seven Saturday night in a welterweight showdown that headlined Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Kalifornië.

I’ve said it before, when Danny Garcia is at his best, nobody can beat him,” Said Garcia. “I had gotten a little comfortable in the past, but I put my 110 percent into this fight and when I do, I beat everyone.

Garcia got his offense started early, deflecting a right hand from Granados in round two and throwing a perfect left hook counter that dropped Granados for the first time in the fight. Granados continued to push and tried to change the tide, but an overhand right at the end of an exchange by Garcia sent Granados down for the second time in round two.

It felt good landing that big left hook,” Said Garcia. “I was proud of my performance. I thought I did a great job tonight.

He was very sharp in the exchanges,” said Granados. “That’s where he was catching me. I knew that’s what I had to avoid. But the toughness in me is always ready to go. I was willing to engage.

Granados tried to find ways to slow Garcia’s momentum, but while trying to crowd Garcia he was too often caught with power punches on the inside. Round four saw Granados begin to bleed heavily from the nose and in round five Granados was dropped for the third time, this time from a combination Garcia delivered while he had Granados on the ropes.

The way to make a statement tonight was to stop him,” Said Garcia. “The game plan was to break him down. I have too many tools. I couldn’t let him hang around with me.

He wanted to get closer to me and make it a dogfight. But I surprised him when I stood with him and banged to the body. Then I started making him miss and that’s when I stopped him.

In round seven, Garcia landed 48% of his power punches according to CompuBox, and after buzzing him several times, unleashed a flurry while Granados was on the ropes that forced referee Thomas Taylor to stop the bout 1:33 into round seven.

He caught me with some good shots but I really thought I was fine,” said Granados. “I think the referee was a little over-protective. I had a plan to go the whole fight and they stopped me on my feet. I was still catching him with shots. I was still dangerous and looking for a big shot to change the fight. The referee had to do his job though and I understand it.

Met die oorwinning, Garcia will look for more big fights with fellow elite welterweights.

I hope I didn’t scare Manny Pacquiao away,” Said Garcia. “I’d love a rematch with Shawn Porter or Keith Thurman, or a fight with Errol Spence Jr. Ek is terug!”
The co-main event featured heavyweight contender and Southern California fan-favoriteAndy “Die Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. (32-1, 21 Uitklophoue) scoring a TKO victory overAlexander Dimitrenko (41-5, 26 Uitklophoue) after five rounds of action in their heavyweight showdown.

Ruiz flashed the exceptional hand speed that has defined his career, landing hard combinations to the head and body of the taller Dimitrenko. Ruiz stalked Dimitrenko, controlling the center of the ring and picking his spots to unload.

He started slowing down and I could see the face he made when I hit him with body shots,” said Ruiz. “I just stayed disciplined and focused. I couldn’t get too anxious. I just wanted to break him down until the tree fell down.

Dimitrenko tried to use his jab to keep Ruiz at bay and was able to cause a welt under Ruiz’s right eye as the early rounds went on. It was not enough to keep Ruiz from coming forward and in round five he began to pile up the punishment, punctuated with hard right hooks that snapped Dimitrenko’s head back.

We worked on slipping his right hand and coming back with my own,” said Ruiz. “I missed with a few of them but I stayed busy. I focused on just getting the job done.

After the fifth round, and on the advice of Dimitrenko’s corner, referee Ray Corona stopped the bout before round six could commence. Ruiz was comfortably ahead on all three scorecards and set his sights on another top heavyweight contender for his possible next opponent.

For my next fight there’s somebody like me, a chubby exciting fighter I want,” said Ruiz. “Adam Kownacki I’m ready, let’s do this.

The opening bout on FOX saw unbeaten top contender Brandon “Heartbreaker” Figueroa (19-0, 14 Uitklophoue) earn the Interim WBA Super Bantamweight title by stoppingYonfrez Parejo (22-4-1, 11 Uitklophoue) after eight rounds of action. Parejo did not answer the bell for round nine, forcing referee Jerry Cantu to stop the bout while Parejo was in the corner.

This is an amazing feeling and a dream come true,” Said Figueroa. “I can’t wait for what’s coming next.I thought I was going to finish him the next round. He had lasted pretty well but once I put the pressure up to another level, I knew he wouldn’t be able to continue.

The 22-year-old Figueroa used his signature pressure early and often, walking through effective shots Parejo landed in the early rounds to establish his position in the fight. Parejo had success landing hooks while Figueroa was exposed on the inside, but was unable to avoid the return fire, especially the body shots that eventually led to the end of the fight.

He threw a lot of strong shots to the body and I felt my legs go at the end of the last round,” said Parejo. He’s very strong but sometimes flat-footed and I was trying to take advantage of that. He was too strong tonight.

Figueroa began to throw even more combinations in the late rounds, nullifying the offense that Parejo was trying to get going. His most prolific rounds were rounds four and five, where he landed 31 en 41 power punches respectively. After a one-sided round eight where Figueroa out landed Parejo 33 te 15, it had become clear that Parejo didn’t have enough on his punches to stop the onslaught. The referee stopped the bout after consulting with Parejo before the start of the ninth round, officially giving Figueroa the victory.

My conditioning was amazing and I felt strong every round,” Said Figueroa. “I’m next in line and I’m ready for anyone.
