Tomas Rojas battled in main event
CANCÚN, México (Abril 20, 2017) – The second installment of the 2017 “Cancún Boxeo” serie, presented by Pepe Gomez Boxing in association with Neon Sports & Diversión, vai ao aire esta noite (Xoves noite, Abril 20) en América do Norte, a partir de 10 p.m. E / 7 p.m. PT, en CBS Sports Network.
The event took place this past April 8th at Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex, O ÚNICO Resort de entretemento con todo incluído de Cancún, que acolle todos os eventos da serie.
Three-time world champion Cristian “Diamente” Mijares (55-8-2, 26 Kos) and former super flyweight titlist Tomas “Gusano” Rojas (48-14-1, 32 Kos) squared off in the 10-round main event in a showdown between a pair of veteran Mexican featherweights.
Undefeated Mexican bantamweight prospect Aaron “pantasma” Alameda (18-0, 10 Kos) stepped up in class to fight battle-tested Edgar “Poder” Jimenez (22-12-2, 16 Kos), de México, in the eight-round co-feature.

Three-time world champion Cristian “Diamente” Mijares (55-8-2, 26 Kos) and former super flyweight titlist Tomas “Gusano” Rojas (48-14-1, 32 Kos) squared off in the 10-round main event in a showdown between a pair of veteran Mexican featherweights.
Mijares vs. Rojas was a rematch of their March 12, 2004 fight in Mexico, in which Mijares won a 12-round unanimous decision for the Mexico super flyweight championship. They had a combined pro record of 103-22-3 (58 Kos), along with four world titles in two divisions, upon entering the ring last Saturday evening.
The reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Campión de peso de plumas, Mijares is rated No. 4 and positioned for another world title shot with a victory over Rojas. Mijares is a three-time world super flyweight champion who is 11-5 en loitas polo título mundial.

His most notable wins have been against Kohei Kono, Noburo Mashiro, Juan Jose Montes, Everado Morales e Evans Mbamba.

Mexico’s 3-time world super flyweight champion Cristian “El Diamante” Mijares (53-8-2, 26 Kos) took on his fellow countryman, invicto Andres “Jaguarito” Gutierrez (34-0-1, 24 Kos), in the 12-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Featherweight Championship. The outcome was controversial and now American viewers can be the judge.
WBC top 10 rated Mijares (retratado á esquerda), 34, is a former IBF, WBA Super and WBC super flyweight world champion. The future Hall of Fame candidate is 11-5 in world title fights with key victories over Chatchai Sasakul,Jorge Arce e Katsushige Kawashima (dúas veces).

In a battle of typically tough Mexican welterweights, Baño “Southpaw” Alvarez (23-5, 16 Kos), a southpaw who was riding a 10-fight win streak into his June 4th match up, met former World Boxing Federation (WBF) campión Jose “Pistón” López (25-4-2, 15 Kos) in a scheduled 8-round bout.
Also airing is a scheduled 8-round showdown between dangerous Mexican and Filipino rivals, Edgar “Poder” Jimenez (21-11-2, 15 Kos) e Jovylito “J-Flash” Aligarbes (12-3, 6 Kos). The 23-year-old Jimenez is a former FECARBOX bantamweight and Mexican flyweight champion who, two fights ago, took a 10-round decision from 28-0 Ivan Morales. The highlight of Aligarbes’ pro career to date is stopping Angelito Merin in the second round of their WBC Youth World super flyweight title fight in 2013.
