Brock lands a right on Blanco
From the Louisiana Penitentiary, where Brock (13-3, 4 קאָס) learned how to box while serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery, to his salvation in the boxing ring. The 35-year-old boxer from New Orleans captured his second title, taking a 10-round split decision (96-94, 96-94, 93-97) from defending North American Boxing Association (אויך) USA lightweight champion Reynaldo “El Trampolin” Blanco (13-3, 7 קאָס)
Brock predicted that fans would see a completely different fighter, after being trained for this fight by future Hall of Famer and 10-time world champion רוי דזשאָנעס, דזשוניער. Brock threw effective punches in bunches, aggressively fought inside against the taller Blanco, and he outworked the Dominican who suffered a cut over his left eye midway through the fight and had his right eye swell a few rounds later.

“I knew he was a gritty guy who came from Puerto Rico to fight me in Las Vegas,” explained Brock, who added the NABA USA title to his growing collection that already had included the WBC US lightweight strap. “I was having fun, enjoying myself. I had to pick up stuff working with Roy and some rubbed off on me. With Roy’s help, my confidence was built up and I learned techniques, especially with my hand-and-feet coordination. I found what I learned was more effective.”
Jones was calm in Brock’s corner throughout the fight. “I’m always calm in the corner to get the best out of the fighter,” Jones noted. “To do that I need to remain calm.”
Mexican upset specialist Norberto “Demonio” גאָנזאַלעז (22-3-8, 13 קאָס) did his thing in the co-feature, taking an eight-round split decision (76-75, 76-75, 74-77) from Puerto Rican junior middleweight דניאל “El Duro” ראָוזערי (11-2, 10 קאָס).

Gonzalez overcame a second-round knockdown. “I didn’t come here to lose,” Gonzalez commented. “I knew we had to work hard to get a decision.”
In the television opener, red-hot junior featherweight prospect ראַנדי “די מאַטאַדאָר” Moreno (7-0, 6 קאָס) געבליבן אַנביטאַן, outclassing Daniel Perales (7-6-1, 4 קאָס) from the opening bell until referee Russell Mora stopped the fight at the request of the corner in the fourth round. לאַס וועגאַס (יוני 10, 2016) – The heat was on in Las Vegas הייַנט בייַ נאַכט, temperature-wise as well as the action inside the ring, for the third installment of “Knockout Night at the D” סעריע, which aired live on קבס ספורט נעטוואָרק from the outdoorונטערשטאָט לאַס וועגאַס עווענץ צענטראַל (דלוועק) אין 90+ degree conditions before another capacity crowd.
An old-time Las Vegas grudge match turned into a highly entertaining boxing war as WBC United States (וסנבק) לייטווייט מייַסטער Demond “Body Shot” בראַק(12-3-1, 4 קאָס) won a hard fought 10-round decision over former USNBC 135-pound titlist and previously unbeaten challenger טשוי “Hurrican” Gutierrez (14-1-1, 4 קאָס).

“What a night we had downtown,” האט Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas and DLVEC. “I want to thank the Nevada Athletic Commission for allowing us to do these fights outdoors. I want to shout out to Chuy and Brock,,,..what fighters! Let’s keep this going downtown.”
בראַק, fighting out of New Orleans, learned to box in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he served nearly 15 יאָרן, sentenced as an adult at 15 for armed robbery. The determined lightweight controlled the pace and consistently beat hometown favorite Gutierrez to the punch all night. Gutierrez, a tough Mexican who lives in Las Vegas, showed the heart of a champion, albeit in a losing effort to a fresher Brock.

“I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 שווער ראָונדס. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.”
In a battle of unbeaten junior middleweight, Mexican invader Rolando “Rola” Garza (9-0, 6 קאָס) און ו.ס. Marine Corps veteran Erasmo “The Reckoning” גאַרסיאַ (5-1-1, 3 קאָס) put on a show in the televised co-feature. All they really needed was a phone booth as the two warriors pounded each other from the opening bell, although Garza got the much better of the action for the first four rounds, buzzing Garcia at the end of the fourth. The game Garcia came back in the fifth, despite suffering a lot of damage from a relentless attack by Garza, who simply outclassed his overmatched opponent with his technical boxing skills. Garza, who was deducted a point for throwing a low blow in the fifth round, won a unanimous 6-round decision in a firefight.
“We worked the body and, thank God, וואַן די קאַמף,” Garza noted. “He’s a tough, unbeaten guy. We came here and did it. Viva Las Vegas!”

In the television opener, Las Vegas welterweight prospect Jeremy “J-Flash” Nichols (5-0. 2 קאָס) dominated previously unbeaten Adam Vasquez (5-1-1). The flashy Nichols dropped Vasquez twice in the final round to win a 4-round unanimous decision by scores of 40-34 דרייַ מאָל.

Nichols won his third fight in the last three months, “I can go next week,” Nichols said after the fight. “He was tall fighter who was undefeated. He didn’t come here to lose. I take my hat off to him because I hit him with some great shots. He is a tough guy with a big heart. I had to do the Ali Shuffle in the first round because he was my favorite fighter.”
Los Angeles heavyweight Johnathan “Johnnie” Rice (4-1, 2 קאָס), a former Winthrop College (נק) קוישבאָל שפּילער, upset 4-time Mexican National amateur champion Edgar “El Chato” ראַמירעז (1-1, 1 קאָ), pitching a shutout for a unanimous 4-round decision.

Las Vegas junior featherweight Max “Baby Face Assassin” Ornelas (1-0, 1 KO de an auspices pro debut, one day after his high school graduation ceremony, one day prior to his 18טה געבוירנ-טאָג. The stage is set for this Las Vegas showdown, which is a crossroads fight in several ways with the winner climbing to the next level.

The 35-year-old Brock, who fights out of Kenner, Louisiana, learned to box in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, while serving his 14 ½-year sentence there for armed robbery. He was a baseball prospect who didn’t box until he was 21. “I played sports in high school, baseball was my first love, and I dreamed of becoming a big leaguer,” Gutierrez said. “Boxing found me. I was attending college at Southern Nevada and working, but the first day I walked into Johnny Tocco’s gym, I fell in love with boxing. I’ve watched so many greats train there and I learned a lot from them.”
“I have a lot of respect for Spinks, but I’m just fighting the man, not his family. His grandfather was world champion, but I’m not fighting his grandfather. I’m excited to be fighting him on CBS Sports Network.”
