Granite Chin Promotion presents Thanksgiving Eve show “Championship Boxing at The Armory”

QUINCY, Mass. (Azaroa 19, 2018) – A major change has been made to this Wednesday night’s (Aza. 21) “Championship Boxing at The Armory” Epaileak txartel, Granito Chin Sustapenak aurkeztua (GCP) on Thanksgiving Eve, at the National Guard Armory (70 Victory Road) in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
The originally scheduled headliner, three-time world title challenger Aleksandra Magziak Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO), withdrew when she accepted a world title shot Dec. 8 Carson, California, against undisputed World welterweight champion Cecelia “First Lady” Braekhus (34-0, 9 Kos) in the main event on HBO.
Many of New England’s most talented and popular boxers will still be in action this Wednesday evening. GCP co-promoter Chris ezaugarriak (26-4, 21 Kos), fighting out of Quincy (MA), will defend his New England cruiserweight title against challenger Nick Lavin (5-9, 4 Kos), of Shelton (CT), in the new eight-round main event.
The 33-year-old Traietti, an Iraq War veteran and college graduate, defeated the heavy-handed Lavin by way of an eight-round unanimous decision August 5, 2017 for the N.E. titulua.
“As disheartening as it was to lose Aleks on this show,” Traietti said, “we are thrilled she’s getting a career defining opportunity on HBO. She’s worked hard for the opportunity and we wish her the best of luck December 8th.
“We shuffled some of the bouts around and moved my fight to the main event. Azken ordua dugu borrokatua, Nick showed up and gave me eight tough rounds. QUINCY, Mass. (Azaroa 1, 2018) — The return of three-time world challenger Aleksandra Lopes titular “Championship Boxing at The Armory,” Granito Chin Sustapenak aurkeztua (GCP), Thanksgiving Eve (Asteazkena, Aza. 21), at the National Guard Armory (70 Victory Road) in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
Many of New England’s most talented and popular boxers will be on the card, which will also feature a Massachusetts State title fight in Granite Chin Promotions’ third and final show of 2018.
“We are excited to be running once again on Thanksgiving Eve,” said GCP co-promoter Chris ezaugarriak, who will also be fighting on this card. “Throughout the last few years, Granite Chin has been trying to make it a Thanksgiving tradition to bring local boxing to the area as a fun way to get people together.”
The wildly popular Lopes (18-4-3, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield, MA, is a native of Poland. She hasn’t fought since last December due to injuries suffered in a car accident. Lopes will face
Missouri welterweight Ashleigh Curry (7-11-4, 1 KO) in the six-round main event.

WORCESTER, Mass. (Abuztua 19, 2018) – Seven years after his last fight, “Gallo The” Jose Antonio Rivera returned to the ring in grand fashion last night (Larunbata) titular “Homecoming, presented by Granite Chin Promotions in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment, Worcester Palladium, Massachusetts.
The 45-year-old Rivera (42-6-1, 25 Kos), 35 pounds lighter than he was in February when he started training, packed the house in his hometown, fully entertained his supportive fans. Hiru-denbora, two-division world champion Rivera pressured Larry “Slomoshun: Smith (10-38-1, 7 Kos) from the opening bell and he never let up.
It took a few rounds for Rivera to wear off the rust, but he fed Smith a steady diet of body shots, gradually breaking down his opponent, as he won round after round on points. Twice in the sixth round it looked like Smith was done, but the tough Texan showed a lot of heart to survive.
Azkenik, Rivera closed the show in the seventh round, when Smith broke his hand in the fifth round and was unable to continue, kneeling in his corner, obviously in pain.
“I’ve always been tough,” Rivera said after the fight, “but I was a little rusty. He tested me early but, once he saw I wasn’t going anywhere and knew he was in for a fight. I started warming up in the fourth round. I was always a 12-round fighter. I didn’t know he broke his hand until after the fight. Handia sentitzen dut. We gave a good fight to the fans who have always supported me.”
“I give myself a C+ tonight. I’m going to talk with my family, but I’m thinking about one more fight, to make it 50 for his pro career).”

The rematch between Worcester junior middleweight Khiary Gray (16-4, 12 Kos) eta Antonio Chaves Fernandez (9-34, 4 Kos) ended in the same fashion as their first encounter did three years ago. Also fighting at home for the first time, Gray blasted out his game opponent, cracking him with a picture-perfect, left-fight combination that put Fernandez on his back. Fernandez beat the count, but referee Bob Benoit halted the action.

“I am not a fan of late changes,” Rivera said, “but at this point it’s either that or no fight, and I’ve trained too hard not to fight.”
Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.
The name of the event is “Homecoming” because five fighters in action are from Worcester, including three who’ve never fought there before as professionals.

WORCESTER, Mass. (Uztailaren 31, 2018) – A dozen years after he captured his third world title in two different weight classes, seven since his last fight, “Gallo The” Jose Rivera returns to the ring August 17 titular “Homecoming”, Granito Chin Sustapenak aurkeztua (GCP) in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), Worcester Palladium, Massachusetts.
The 45-year-old Rivera (41-6-1, 24 Kos) has already lost more than 30 kilo, now within four pounds of his contracted weight, since he started training earlier this year. He will headline against Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan (27-26-4, 10 Kos) in the eight-round main event.
In 1997, Rivera captured the International Boxing Organization (IBO) World welterweight title, gelditu Gilberto Flores bigarren txandan. Six years later, he traveled to Germany to take on undefeated, jaioterrian gogoko Michel Trabant (38-0) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) World Welterweight Championship, in which Rivera won a 12-round decision and the belt.
In front of nearly 10,000 hometown fans in Worcester, Rivera capped his boxing career by winning a 12-round unanimous decision in 2006 over defending champion Alejandro Garcia(25-1) for the WBA World super welterweight title.
“The idea to return to the ring started with my son. A.J., and I talking about chasing history,” Rivera azaldu. “We are not able to put that together right now (A.J. was born with Spina Bifida and he was unable to secure medical clearance in time for the Aug. 17garren show.), but because of my hard work these last six months, I felt that it was only fitting to continue with my fight.
“Granite Chin Promotions has been very instrumental to make sure that this show is put together in the most professional manner possible. I won’t think our promotional company (Jos and A.J. own and operate RPE Promotions Entertainment) would have been able to pull this off. All the negotiations had to be done and me training the only way I know how, at a championship level, would have been too much for us to handle.”

During Rivera’s title reigns, unlike other world champions, he also held a full-time job as a court officer in the Massachusetts Trial Court, a position in Worcester that he still holds 17 years later. Between working and training, never mind his family responsibilities, Jose somehow manages to balance everything in his extremely busy life.
“Let’s just say it makes for a busy schedule,” Rivera remarked. “I am committed to taking care of my family and will do whatever it takes. I usually run before work and train after work. Starting early and finishing late makes for busy days, but the job needs to get done. Oraintxe bertan, I’m in the middle of the hardest period of training. The week of the fight is more about preparing mentally and making weight. There’s nothing you can do the week of the fight to help you get into better shape.”
Rivera isn’t under any illusions that his comeback will lead to another major world title. The plan is for him to have two more fights to reach a total of 50 pro bat bezala, but he’s taking things one fight at a time, and he still hopes his next fight, tentatively slated for later this year, will be on the same card as his son’s pro debut.
Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The battle-tested Galvan, his Aug. 17garren opponent from Indiana, has fought other world champions, Including Zab Juda, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.., Jorge Paez eta Paul Spadafora.
“I hear he comes to fight and that he likes to fool around a bit to try and get into his opponent’s head,” Rivera added. I’ve concentrated on me, my timing and focus on the game plan
“Training for this fight has been more mental than anything else. I have been able to reach peak performance at 45 training like I did in my prime. The most important thing is that, working with my trainer Sean Fitzgerald, I’ve been focused on making sure my timing gets better since it’s been seven years since I last fought.

DERRY, N.H. (April 8, 2018) — The official weigh in was held today for tomorrow (Larunbata) evening’s “Fight Night at the Zone,” Granito Chin Sustapenak aurkeztua, at The Sportszone in Derry, New Hampshire.
Ekitaldi nagusian, Dorchester, MA junior middleweight Gabriel Duluc (12-3, 3 Kos) used a vicious body attack to stop veteran Texas fighter Larry “Slomoshun” Smith bosgarren txandan. A right to the liver put Smith down, but he beat the referee Mike Ryan‘s count. Smith was unable to recover as he was pinned on the ropes by Duluc, who reeled off a dozen unanswered punches, forcing referee Ryan to end the fight.
New England’s hardest hitter is unquestionably UBF N.E. light heavyweight champion Richard “Popeye marinel Man” Rivera (7-0, 6 Kos), who knocked out cruiserweight Randy “The Rattler” Campbell (3-19, 2 Kos) with the first punch in their non-title fight, a lethal right that broke Campbell’s lower right ankle.
Flashy Worcester, MA prospect Irvin Gonzalez (9-0, 8 Kos) overwhelmed his Mexican opponent, junior welterweight Francisco “El Mono” Medel (12-13, 8 Kos), blasting him from every angle en route to a first-round technical knockout, in which Medal went to the canvas twice.
New England cruiserweight champion Chris ezaugarriak (26-4, 21 Kos), also the co-promoter, pounded “Jammin” James Morrow (12-23-3, 5 Kos) from pillar to post until referee Leo Gerstel halted the action in their non-title fight for a third-round technical knockout.

QUINCY, Mass. (April 2, 2018) — This Saturday night’s “Fight Night at The Zone”, Granito Chin Sustapenak aurkeztua, has been strengthened by the late addition of hot prospect Irvin Gonzalez to a card already showcasing some of the best young, professional boxers in New England.
Granite Chin Promotions is on a mission to establish a fan-base in the Granite State, providing a fan friendly, full entertainment experience at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.
Gonzalez (8-0, 7 Kos), fighting out of Worcester, MA, zen bat 2015 New England Golden eskularruak txapelduna, who qualified for the 2016 Trials Olinpiar. The 21-year-old featherweight prospect will face Mexican Francisco “El Mono” Medal (12-12, 8 Kos) sei-biribilak bout batean.
Gonzalez, who hasn’t fought since December 1 1 (sensational third-round knockout of previously undefeated 13-0 Marlon Olea in Providence), was supposed to fight St. Patrick’s Day in Boston, but he was informed the day of the weigh in that his opponent hadn’t cleared medicals.
I’m always in the gym working hard because I like to stay busy and be ready,” Gonzalez esan. “No layoffs for me. I’ve been sparring 3-4 times a week to polish my craft. Beti prest dut. I was disappointed a few weeks ago, but I’m fighting on this card, and back on the right track.

We have five undefeated fighters on this show. They’re legitimate prospects with a lot of upside. Irvin, Richie and Omar are starting to get national attention and New Hampshire fans are getting an early look at them. The veteran fighters on this show have a lot to fight for as well. ”
Dorchester, MA lightweight Gabriel Duluc (11-3, 2 Kos) headlines in the eight-round main event against Dallas veteran Larry “Slomoshun” Smith.
Iraq War veteran Chris ezaugarriak (25-4, 20 Kos), fighting out of Quincy, MA, meets Indiana veteran “Jammin'” James Morrow in an eight-round, non-title fight. Traietti, whose title will not be on the line, is also the co-promoter of “Fight Night at The Zone.”
Another top Conn. perspectiva, Danbury junior welterweight Omar Bordoy (4-0, 1 KO), hartzen Carlos Galindo, Woburn (MA), in a four-round match.
