Undefeated junior middleweight prospect Anthony Velazquez won’t be boxing’s best kept secret in 2026

SPRINGFIELD, Pawg. (Lub Xya hli ntuj 10, 2025) – Right now, unbeaten junior middleweight Anthony “ATV” Velazquez (19-0-1, 14 KOs) may be boxing’s best kept secret, but the plan is for him to make a major jump from prospect to title challenger in 2026.

Fighting out of Springfield, Massachusetts, the 29-year-old Valezquez has flown under the radar, never fighting a world rated opponent or showcased on a marquee event. His manager, Gunther Fishgold, has set the stage for a breakout 2026 for his talented Puerto Rican-American fighter.

The plan calls for Velazquez, who is a promotional free agent, to fight three times, starting July 19th at Mohegan Sun, plus two more times in 2025 or next January, to position him to be world rated and fight on larger stages by the first quarter of 2026.


“I want to be the best and I’m going to prove myself,” Valezquez remarked. “I’m boxing’s best kept secret, but everybody is going to know who I am very soon. I like this pace (fighting every 2-3 months) because I’m always in the gym. No vacations; just the gym and home. This is my job and I’m working hard to keep my skills sharp. I get good work at our gym because my coach, Hector Bermudez, always has fighters in from around the world. I’ve sparred a lot with (world-rated welterweight) Rohan Polanco (16-0, 10 KOs), the Dominican Olympian, and I spar bigger guys, too, like super middleweight Steven Butler (36-5-1, 30 KOs) – ‘Bang Bang’ – who was there getting ready for his fight (Rau hli ntuj 27, WKO4 vs. Jose de Jesus Macias). The work I get in the gym definitely helps me. It feels good fighting different people because they all have different styles.”
Team Velazquez hasn’t targeted any fighter in particular, but a natural foe is fellow New Englander, Chordale “The Gift” Booker (23-2, 11 KOs), of Stamford, Connecticut. Booker recently had his first world title shot, losing his challenge to unified (WBC & WBO) Super Welterweight World ChampionSebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 14 KOs) by way of a stoppage in round 4. One non-New Englander on Velazquez’ hit list for 2026, perhaps, is welterweightAlexis “Lex” Rocha (25-2-1, 16 KOs), who is currently world rated at No. 1 (WBO), Tsis yog. 5 (IBF) and No. 9 (WBC), but only if he decides to move up to the junior middleweight division.Velazquez is at training camp preparing for his July 19th return in an 8-round bout vs.Terry Chatwood(12-3-1) nyob Mohegan lub hnub nyob rau hauv Uncasville, Connecticut, which is only a 1 ½ hour drive from Velazquez’ home in Springfield.

I’m comfortable in the ring. My defense and confidence have improved. And I enjoy fighting at Mohegan Sun because of its history in boxing and how close it is to Springfield. It’s like my second home (this will be his third fight there).”

**SEBASTIAN FUNDORA VS. CHORDALE BOOKER**

Standing nearly six-foot-six, Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora leapt into the championship ranks after earning a decision over Tim Tszyu last year, and will now defend his WBC and WBO 154-pound world titles against the WBO No. 5-ranked and WBC No. 14-ranked super welterweight contender in Chordale Booker as they top the March 22 event in a 12-round attraction.

Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) rocketed to the top of the super welterweight division with a fan-friendly style and bruising toughness in the ring that helped him emerge victorious from a grueling and bloody battle against Tszyu last March. A native of Coachella, California, Fundora notably showed his mettle in April 2022, battling the hard-hitting Erickson Lubin in an instant 2022 Fight of the Year contender. Despite both men hitting the canvas, Fundora stood tall in the end, prompting Lubin’s corner to stop the fight at the end of the ninth round.

The 27-year-old has defeated a slew of contenders throughout his career, with his only defeat coming to Brian Mendoza in 2023. Fundora represents one of boxing’s most accomplished families, as he is trained by his father Freddy alongside his younger sister, undisputed flyweight world champion Gabriela. The two fighting Fundora’s are the first brother and sister to simultaneously hold world championships.

“I’m preparing really hard to defend my unified WBC and WBO world titles on March 22 in Las Vegas,” said Fundora. “Everyone can expect to see me prepared and ready to leave it all in the ring like I always do. ‘The Towering Inferno’ is back, and I’m coming to take out everyone in my way.”

Fighting out of his native Stamford, Connecticut, Booker (23-1, 11 KOs) enters this fight on a six-fight winning streak that includes four stoppage victories that have helped him rise up the rankings and earn his first world title opportunity. Since a 2022 loss to Austin Williams, Booker has dominated his competition, including a 2024 campaign that saw him defeat veteran contender Greg Vendetti in February before stopping Brian Damian Chaves in round three of their June clash.

The 33-year-old also owns triumphs over a litany of tough contenders including Wale Omotoso and VeShawn Owens. Prior to turning pro in 2016, Booker put together a sensational amateur career that included gold medals at the U.S. National and Golden Gloves championships, in addition to a bronze medal at the U.S. Olympic trials that earned him an alternate spot for the 2016 U.S. Olympic team.

“I’ve done everything I could to get here, and it’s a testament to what my foundation represents – going the distance,” said Booker. “I’ve gone the distance to make it to this fight. I’ve taken fights on short notice, fought for less and always kept pushing forward. Now, 15 years into my boxing journey, I’m stepping into the biggest fight of my life. This moment means everything and it’s proof that hard work and perseverance pays off.”

**JESUS RAMOS JR. VS. KEVIN SALGADO**

In the 10-round co-main event, one of the sport’s brightest rising Mexican stars will return to action as Jesus Ramos Jr. looks to continue his climb up the stacked 154-pound division when he battles the all-action contender Kevin Salgado in an explosive all-Mexican battle. After coming up on the wrong end of a contested decision against top contender Erickson Lubin in September 2023, Ramos (22-1, 18 KOs) has returned in style with back-to-back stoppages. Most recently he blasted out the former unified champion Jeison Rosario in the eight-round of their February 1 matchup.

A native of Casa Grande, Ariz., Ramos had worked his way up the rankings by defeating a slew of contenders including Brian Mendoza, Javier Molina, Vladimir Hernandez and an emphatic stoppage of the then-unbeaten Joey Spencer. Trained by his father Jesus Sr., and the nephew of veteran contender Abel, the 23-year-old Ramos entered the Lubin fighting having stopped seven of his last 10 opponents.

“I’m thrilled to be stepping back into the ring on March 22,” said Ramos. “One of my main goals this year was to increase my activity and this opportunity aligns perfectly with that ambition. Kevin Salgado is a formidable fighter known for his resilience and determination, and that should make for an electrifying night of boxing. Coming off an extended training camp, my conditioning is at its peak. Now our primary focus is to develop a strategic game plan tailored to Salgado’s unique style so that we can secure the victory.”

A native of Mexico City, Salgado (17-2-1, 10 KOs) is the younger brother of former super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado and now fights out of San Antonio, Texas. Salgado enters this with two consecutive stoppage victories following an April 2023 decision loss to Elijah Garcia. The 27-year-old turned pro in late 2016 and delivered knockouts in six of his first nine outings. After scoring three-straight knockouts between September 2019 and February 2021, Salgado returned to the ring in October 2021 to defeat Ricardo Banuelos Cernas by unanimous decision before fighting Bryant Perrella to a split-draw in his U.S. debut in April.

Salgado bounced back from a September 2022 defeat to Joey Spencer by knocking out Gilberto Flores in the first round of their December 2022 clash.

“This is an important opportunity and I’m coming to make the most of it,” said Salgado. “I have a strong opponent, but I’m going to be the best version of myself when the fight comes. On March 22 I will do whatever it takes to get my hand raised.”

**ELIJAH GARCIA VS. TERRELL GAUSHA**

The opening attraction will see the return of a rising star in the 21-year-old Elijah Garcia, who seeks to bounce back from his first career defeat and return to his championship trajectory in a 10-round middleweight fight against the always tough veteran Terrell Gausha, who has stood up to a litany of top fighters throughout his career.

Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, García (16-1, 13 KOs) steps back into the ring after dropping a close split-decision last June against middleweight contender Kyrone Davis. Garcia had previously burst onto the scene as a teenager by earning three impressive victories in 2023. He kicked off that memorable campaign in March with a knockout of the previously unbeaten Amilcar Vida and followed that up with a pair of performances on the undercards of two of the biggest events of the year.

He first defeated Kevin Salgado on the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia pay-per-view in April before knocking out Armando Resendiz on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo pay-per-view in September. The precocious García has moved fast since turning pro in 2020 and knocked out seven of his last nine opponents heading into the Davis fight.

“I’m not just ready for this fight, I’m ready to dominate,” said Garcia. “I’m excited to get back in the ring and unleash everything I’ve been working on in camp. The addition of Bob Santos and his knowledge and wisdom that he’s shared with our team is a game changer. His expertise and guidance are going to take us to new heights and propel us to the next level. We’re not just looking to win, we’re looking to make a statement.”

A member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, Gausha (24-4-1, 12 KOs) was born in Cleveland, Ohio but now fights out of Encino, California and is trained by the renowned Manny Robles. He most recently dropped a competitive decision to reigning WBC Middleweight World Champion Carlos Adames in their June 2024 world title fight.

Prior to facing Adames, Gausha had won back-to-back bouts as he knocked out Brandyn Lynch in March 2023 before winning a decision over KeAndrae Leatherwood in September of that year. Gausha has faced top competition throughout his career, having fought former champion Austin Trout to a draw in 2019 in addition to decision losses against WBA Middleweight World Champion Erislandy Lara, former world champion Tim Tszyu and top contender Erickson Lubin.

“I’m excited to get back in the mix,” said Gausha. “I’m always working and staying ready for any opportunity. On March 22 people will know why I’ve been at this level for so long. I’m going to make a statement for sure.”

(Tej zaum 6, 2019) – Light heavyweight contender Ahmed Elbiali battle yuav Marlos Simões in a 10-round showdown as part of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes action Saturday, Tej zaum 25 from Beau Rivage Resort Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Elbiali will replace the previously scheduled bout featuring Eimantas Stanionis, as Stanionis was forced to withdraw because of a hand injury suffered in training.

PBC on FS1 and FOX Deportes begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and is headlined by former super welterweight champion Austin “Tsis doubt tsis ntseeg” zaub ntug hauv paus returning to the ring to take on former title challenger Terrell Gausha in a 10-round super welterweight battle.

PBC Prelims on FS2 and FOX Deportes will begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT and be headlined by Puerto Rican Olympian Carlos Negron noj Daniel Martz in an eight or 10-round heavyweight match and top prospect Amon Rashidi competing in a four or six-round welterweight attraction. Prelims will also feature in the opening bout hard hitting cruiserweights as undefeated Efe Apochi steps in against Earl Newman for an eight round matchup.

The 28-year-old Elbiali (18-1, 15 KOs) is coming off an exciting third round knockout victory over Allan Green on Jan. 13 on FS1. Elbiali, an Egyptian-American who lives in Miami, Florida, knocked down Green in all three rounds before scoring the victory. It was his second straight victory by knockout – the other coming against Zoltan Sera last June 10 – since losing the first fight of his career against former world champion Jean Pascal in 2017. Simões (13-1-2, 5 KOs) is coming a stoppage victory over Jefferson Luis De Sousa in December. The 30-year-old of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil suffered the only loss of his career against Manuel Ceballos last June.

After representing his native Puerto Rico at the 2008 Olympics, Negron (20-2, 16 KOs) was unbeaten in his first 13 pro fights. Now residing in Miami, the 32-year-old carried a seven-fight winning streak before losing to Dominic Breazeale in December on FOX. He will look to bounce back in his 2019 debut on May 25. Negron will face Clarksburg, West Virginia’s Martz (18-6-1, 15 KOs), who enters this contest the winner of his last two and three of his last four outings. The 28-year-old lost to Luis Ortiz in December 2017 on FS1.

Rashidi (6-0, 4 KOs), who was born in Dallas, Texas and now lives in Desoto, is coming off an exciting TKO victory over Gabriel Gutierrez at AT&T Stadium on March 16. The 26-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2015 and has scored knockouts in three of his last four fights.

An accomplished amateur from Nigeria, Apochi (7-0, 7 KOs) turned pro in the U.S. nyob rau hauv 2017 and has racked up knockouts in each fight since. The 31-year-old trains in Houston and scored more four knockouts in 2018 before making his 2019 debut in February and stopping Raymond Ochieng.

A former New York Golden Gloves Champion, Newman (10-1-1, 7 KOs) will look to rebound from a decision loss to Lionell Thompson that came after fighting Paul Parker to a draw on FS1 in 2017. The 27-year-old from Brooklyn was unbeaten in his first 10 pro fights after turning pro in 2014.

In non-televised action Ghanaian super middleweight Habib Ahmed (26-1-1, 18 KOs) meets Colombia’s Juan De Angel (21-10-1, 19 KOs) in an eight round bout, Orlando’sAntonio Tarver, ❏ Jr ❏. (5-0, 4 KOs) battles Milwaukee’s Thomas Hill (8-2, 1 KO) in an eight round middleweight match and Burlington, North Carolina welterweight Willie Jones (7-1, 4 KOs) takes on Garden Grove, California’s Lucas Santa Maria (9-1, 7 KOs) in an eight-round attraction.

Also in action are undefeated Atlanta light heavyweight Brandon Glanton (8-0, 7 KOs) in a six round match and Chicago’s Shawn Simpson (9-0, 3 KOs) looking to keep his unbeaten streak alive in a six or eight round bantamweight bout. A duo of undefeated Dallas, Texas boxers battle in separate bouts as Burley Brooks (2-0, 2 KOs) fights in a four-round super middleweight match and Fernando Garcia (12-0, 7 KOs) fights in an eight-round featherweight bout.

zaub ntug hauv paus (31-5, 17 KOs) has tangled with some of the top super welterweights of this generation, including Saul Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, Jermell and Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. The 33-year-old from Las Cruces, Mexico, will look to rebound from a majority decision defeat to Jermell Charlo last June. His knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in 2015 headlined the first PBC show on FS1.

“I’m excited to be back in the ring,” said Trout. “I’m ready to take another chop at the world title and this is my way back. I’m really motivated to get that championship belt again. Gausha is a strong, technical fighter with an Olympic pedigree. I’ve got to get in there and take care of him and look good doing it. A good win over him will get me right back in the mix.”

The 31-year-old Gausha (21-1, 10 KOs), a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic boxing team from Cleveland, Ohio, will look to put himself back into title contention with a victory over Trout. He came up short in his first title fight against Erislandy Lara, losing a unanimous decision in 2017, before rebounding with a knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in his last fight in December.

“I feel good about this fight and I think it’s the perfect fight for me,” said Gausha. “With Austin Trout being a former champion and having experience fighting all the top guys in the division, it gives me a chance to show where I’m at. It’s not only about winning, but it’s the way I’ll win that will put people on notice.”

Booker (14-0, 7 KOs) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan De Angel in January on FS1. The 27-year-old southpaw from Stamford, Conn., was busy in 2018, going 5-0 with three knockouts. Booker is very active in his Stamford community as well, running his charity for at-risk youth and training amateurs for the Golden Gloves.

“My expectations for myself are to put on the best performance I’ve had in boxing period – amateur or pro,” said Booker. “I’m looking to showcase every ability that I have, not just brute strength. I want to show people that I’m championship caliber. What I see from him is that he’s a game fighter and comes to fight. He likes to come forward. He’s going to try to take it to me. But I can do a lot of things, box going forward, backwards, sideways, or anything it will take to get this win.”

The 33-year-old Omotoso (27-3, 21 KOs) is a hard-nosed veteran who will present Booker with his toughest test to date. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Omotoso learned to fight in the streets before honing his skills in the boxing gym. He calls himself “Lucky Boy” because he feels fortunate to have made it off the streets alive and become a successful professional boxer. Now training in Los Angeles, Omotoso most recently defeated Freddy Hernandez in December 2017.

“I got the call to fight a young, undefeated fighter in Booker and I said bring it on,” said Omotoso. “I’m really happy he took the fight because most people say I’m too dangerous and too tough. I will give it all I got. When I go to the ring I put all my effort and training into the fight. That’s the way this sport is. I know he’s going to come in with all he’s got, but the toughest man will win.”

Stanionis (8-0, 5 KOs) is from Kaunas, Lithuania and was a member of the 2016 Lithuanian Olympic boxing team. The 24-year-old, who now lives in Oxnard, California, and trains with Ronnie Shields in Texas, is on the fast track toward being a top contender. He returns to Brooklyn to face the 25-year-old Medina, who fights out of the Dominican Republic.

“Everything went well in camp. Everything is on scheduled, and I am on weight. I sparred with Julian Williams and overall it was a good camp,” said Cintron.
In Gomez, he is facing a fighter who is on a two-fight win streak, yet lost his only appearance in the United States, which ironically took place in the same building as he dropped a decision to undefeated Alex Martin on February 9th.
“I don’t know much about him. I saw one tape, and he seems like a bully and tries to take you out of your game. He is nothing special, nothing that I haven’t seen before. I am just going in there and do what I have worked on, and exploit his mistakes.”
This will be Cintron’s 4th fight in the last 7 months, and he is ready for a good performance, and move on to big opportunities in 2017.
“The game plan was to be built up again. From what (King’s Promotions) Marshall Kauffman has said, 2017 will be a big year and I am looking forward to getting back to the top.”
With a plethora of talent atop the welterweight division, Cintron sees many opportunities for that breakthrough win.
“Whatever fight makes sense for me is who i will fight. I will fight all of the top contenders.”
At 37 years-old, Cintron still feels youthful and has the same energy level he did when he was a welterweight champion a decade again.
“My trainer Joe Pastore has been putting me through the same workouts that I always have done when I was a world champion. They are hard workouts and I don’t feel 37. I don’t feel any changes in my body. I feel good and fresh.”
“I am just excited to be back. This Saturday I will finish the year strong. I am looking to seeing my friends and family and finish the year with a bang!”

The other 2015 CBHOF award winners are U.S. Olympic Team hopeful Chordale Booker, Boxer amateur xyoo; boxing judge Glenn Feldman, Cov neeg ntawm lub xyoo; trainer Brian Clark, Contribution to Boxing.
CBHOFR Class of 2015 inductees include promoter Lou DiBella, manager/promoter Shelly Finkel former boxing commissioner Peter Timothy thiab, posthumously, boxer Carey Mace, and trainer/boxer George Russo, boxing writer/manager Mort Sharnik and boxing advocate Arnie Bayer.
The 24-year-old Rosa (21-0, 10 KOs), fighting out New Haven, won all four of his 2015 fights against Giovani Caro (DEC6),Jonathan Perez (TKO5) at the Connecticut Convention Center, Ernesto Guerrero (TKO2) at Mohegan Sun, thiab Noel Echevarria (KO1). Rosa is the No. 15 rated super bantamweight in the world by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
Rosa, native of Puerto Rico, had an outstanding 95-10 amateur record. He turned pro in 2010 and his most notable win to date as a pro was an impressive 10-round decision of Luis Orlando Del Valle (18-1). Rosa trains at his family’s Boxing In Faith Gym in New Haven, where he has grown up.
Booker, who is from Stamford, has already locked a berth in the 165-pound middleweight division U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials, which will determine spots on the 2016 U.S. Men’s Olympic Boxing Team.
Feldman, of Avon, is internationally recognized as one of the best boxing judges in the industry. His selection to judge this year’s Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao mega-fight is testimony to his status in contemporary boxing. Feldman has already judged more than 70 fights this year, all around the world in places like Macau and Germany. He has worked more than 135 world title fights during his 25-year judging career, including seven thus far in 2015. One of the founders of the CBHOF, Feldman was the first CBHOF president, serving in that position through last year, and he was inducted into the CBHOF ion 2011.
Clark is the owner of Ring One Boxing gym in New Haven. As a trainer he is credited with the development of former world light heavyweight champion “Bad” Chad Dawson and amateur star Tramaine “Midget” Hmong/Williams.
