You just mentioned that you have a loss. What did you learn from that defeat that will help prepare you for this upcoming fight with Dusty?

The Douglas loss has prepared me for this. Being a headline fighter on television. We will be seen by more people being on CBS Sports Network. I am five fights more mature since my loss. I have been fighting solid competition and I have been more active.

What in those five fights has helped you prepare for this fight?
None of those guys are comparable to Dusty, but I fought guys with different styles and went some rounds with them when people may have questioned my stamina. I fought a rugged guy in Ayi Bruce and a crafty southpaw in Ariel Vasquez. Those guys aren’t killers, but I was getting work in.

What things have you fixed since the loss to Douglas? Did you feel you were overmatched in the fight?

It opened my eyes and it showed me that I needed to fix stuff. My diet and daily living. I was overmatched in maybe size, but I really felt going into that fight that I would beat him.
What are you doing different?
My diet and other things I do when I am not training. I was a middleweight because I was too lazy to drop down in weight. I have made a lot of adjustments.

You started out at middleweight, but you have eased your way down to welterweight. How difficult has that been and what type of advantage does this play into the Setembro 15loita?

I was always a big middleweight, but strength-wise I wasn’t. Now at welterweight, I am more explosive, Máis rápido, more experienced and now I can dictate the action. This is the first time he (Harrison) is fighting someone bigger than him. He has been fighting smaller guys. He now will have to face punches from a grown man.
The fight was originally scheduled for Atlantic City, where you would have been involved in the promotional aspects of the show. That would have entailed doing a lot of work behind the scenes, which would have taken some time away from training. Are you relieved that the fight is in Philadelphia?
I am thankful for that. I know I would have had to get involved in the promotional aspect and some of the stuff leading up to the fight. To me it doesn’t matter where the fight is. Philadelphia is a neutral ground. As long as there is a ring, it doesn’t matter where it takes place

Why this fight right now?

É hora. He has fought one tough guy and if you saw the fight, he lost it (officially a draw with Mike Dallas). I have no doubt in my mind that I will win the fight and maybe even stop him. But it is a great opportunity to get showcased on national television for the USBA title.

Filadelfia, PA – Welterweights Thomas LaManna e Dusty Hernández-Harrison will square off in a scheduled 10-round bout for the vacant USBA Welterweight title on Xoves, Sete. 15, in a highly anticipated showdown at the 2300 Área. The card is promoted by Final Forum Boxing, Peltz Boxing Promotions & GH3 Promotions and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
“This is the kind of fight boxing needs at this juncture,” said Hall-of-Fame promoter and matchmaker J Russell Peltz. “We have two young prospects at the same level meeting in a logical location–New Jersey against Washington, D.C. en Filadelfia. Boxing needs more fights like this in this kind of setting. This is the best fight for each of these fighters at this point of their careers.”

‘Bravo’ Brant Stops Fitzpatrick in Three, Continues March to Middleweight Title Shot
Current WBO NABO and WBA NABA Middleweight Champion and WBA #4- and WBO #7-rated middleweight Rob “Moi ben” Ganso-bravo (21-0, 14 Kos) of Saint Paul, Minnesota, kept his momentum plowing forward and continued to impress tonight with a one-sided beatdown of Chris “The Irish Ghost” Fitzpatrick (15-5, 6 Kos) de Cleveland.
Fighting in the 10-round main event of CBS Sports Network Championship Boxing from the Grand Ballroom of the Pechanga Resort & Casino en Temecula, California, Brant had too many weapons for the game Fitzpatrick.

O’Quinn came out firing in the first, as expected, but Quiroz figured out how to time him with looping shots in the second. He rocked O’Quinn to his boots with a right but wasn’t able to finish.
O’Quinn did a little more in the final two rounds, but credit the California judges for not playing home favorites. The scores, met with booing, foron 39-37 en todos os sentidos.

25-year-old Brant has already won two fights this year. LAS VEGAS (Xuño 10, 2016) – The heat was on in Las Vegas esta noite, temperature-wise as well as the action inside the ring, for the third installment of “Knockout Night at the D” serie, which aired live on CBS Sports Network dende o exteriorDowntown Veigas Events Center (DLVEC) en 90+ degree conditions before another capacity crowd.

“What a night we had downtown,” dito Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas and DLVEC. “I want to thank the Nevada Athletic Commission for allowing us to do these fights outdoors. I want to shout out to Chuy and Brock,,,..what fighters! Let’s keep this going downtown.”
Brock, fighting out of New Orleans, learned to box in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he served nearly 15 anos, sentenced as an adult at 15 for armed robbery. The determined lightweight controlled the pace and consistently beat hometown favorite Gutierrez to the punch all night. Gutierrez, a tough Mexican who lives in Las Vegas, showed the heart of a champion, albeit in a losing effort to a fresher Brock.

“I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 roldas duras. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.”
In a battle of unbeaten junior middleweight, Mexican invader Rolando “Rola” Garza (9-0, 6 Kos) e U.S. Veterano do Corpo de Mariña Erasmo “The Reckoning” Garcia (5-1-1, 3 Kos) put on a show in the televised co-feature. All they really needed was a phone booth as the two warriors pounded each other from the opening bell, although Garza got the much better of the action for the first four rounds, buzzing Garcia at the end of the fourth. The game Garcia came back in the fifth, despite suffering a lot of damage from a relentless attack by Garza, who simply outclassed his overmatched opponent with his technical boxing skills. Garza, who was deducted a point for throwing a low blow in the fifth round, won a unanimous 6-round decision in a firefight.
“We worked the body and, grazas a Deus, gañou a loita,” Garza noted. “He’s a tough, unbeaten guy. We came here and did it. Viva Las Vegas!”

In the television opener, Las Vegas welterweight prospect Jeremy “J-Flash” Nichols (5-0. 2 Kos) dominated previously unbeaten Adam Vasquez (5-1-1). The flashy Nichols dropped Vasquez twice in the final round to win a 4-round unanimous decision by scores of 40-34 tres veces.

Nichols won his third fight in the last three months, “I can go next week,” Nichols said after the fight. “He was tall fighter who was undefeated. He didn’t come here to lose. I take my hat off to him because I hit him with some great shots. He is a tough guy with a big heart. I had to do the Ali Shuffle in the first round because he was my favorite fighter.”
Los Angeles heavyweight Johnathan “Johnnie” Rice (4-1, 2 Kos), a former Winthrop College (NC) xogador de baloncesto, upset 4-time Mexican National amateur champion Edgar “El Chato” Ramirez (1-1, 1 KO), pitching a shutout for a unanimous 4-round decision.

Las Vegas junior featherweight Max “Baby Face Assassin” Ornelas (1-0, 1 KO de an auspices pro debut, one day after his high school graduation ceremony, one day prior to his 18th aniversario. Ornelas dropped Robert “Lil’ Roubar” Ledesma (1-5) midway through the first round. Ledesma rose but Ornelas hit him with a vicious left hook to the body, hurting Ledesma who turned his back and walked away in pain. Árbitro Jay Nady stepped in and halted the fight.

Pesos pesados Tracey “The Titan” Johnson (4-2-4), de Boston, and Los Angeles’Cashton “Fedia-Tone” Mozo (2-1, 1 KO) set the stage in the opening fight of the evening. They stood toe-to-toe for most of the four rounds as Johnson, who has a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Emmanuel College, won a 4-round split decision.

Gutierrez, a native of Mexico who fights out of Las Vegas, never lost his belt in the ring. The stage is set for this Las Vegas showdown, which is a crossroads fight in several ways with the winner climbing to the next level.

Promoter Pepe Gomez & Neon Star Media bring “Cancún Boxeo” to CBS Sports Network

CANCÚN, México / LAS VEGAS (Xuño 2, 2016) — Famed promoter Pepe Gómez has partnered with Neon Star Media to bring its monthly “Cancún Boxeo” series to CBS Sports Network.
The first event, “Knockout’s On Fire,” terá lugar este sábado noite (Xuño 4) from Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex in Cancun, México. Cancun`s ONLY Ultimate All-Inclusive Entertainment Resort will play host to all events in the series.
“Cancún Boxeo” is presented by Pepe Gomez Boxing.

Hall-of-Famer announcers Jim “JR” Ross e Al Bernstein, respectivamente, will handle blow-by-blow and color commentary.

The first event will feature Mexico’s 3-time world super flyweight champion Cristian “El Diamante” Mijares (53-8-2, 26 Kos) who takes on his fellow countryman, invicto Andres “Jaguarito” Gutierrez, in the 12-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Featherweight Championship.

The 23-year-old Jimenez is a former FECARBOX bantamweight and Mexican flyweight champion who, two fights ago, took a 10-round decision from 28-0 Ivan Morales. The highlight of Aligarbes’ pro career to date is stopping Angelito Merin in the second round of their WBC Youth World super flyweight title fight in 2013.
Former WBA female bantamweight champion Irma “Torbellino” Garcia (13-1-, 2 Kos) atenda Miriam “La Patrona” Avila (5-6, 2 Kos) nun partido a 10 xornadas.
