McCreary has been a pro since 1998 and he feels that could be a big factor in his favor.
My experience is a huge factor. I know up until the last couple years that he has been an MMA fighter. I just hope he doesn’t kick me or put me in a headlock.quipped McCreary.
Despite being 41 ka tuig-ang panuigon, McCreary is confident that a win in New York will catapult him into some great opportunities.

Ania ang giingon sa mga partisipante sa pag-ingon Miyerkules:

AMIR KHAN

I really believe that I have the movement, the skills and the technique to beat Chris Algieri and look spectacular doing it.

Algieri has been in the ring with big names before so we know that’s not going to scare him and he won’t get nervous. I’m going to be ready for anything he brings to the table.

This is going to be an entertaining fight because of our styles. We both like to throw a lot of punches and there will be a lot of movement. This will be a more skillful fight and I think the fans will enjoy what they see.

I’ve always wanted to fight here at Barclays Center and I really am excited to put on a great performance for all the New Yorkers.

Virgil Hunter has been great for me as a fighter and he’s helped me really understand the sport of boxing. I’ve worked on my technique and my defense and really just everything.

Training camp for me has been really good. I’m focused on my opponent and I’m not going to make any mistakes. It’s going to be a great performance from me sa Biyernes.”

CHRIS Algieri

This is going to be a great fight with two fast-paced boxers. It’s going to be very exciting for everyone watching.

Working down in Florida with John David Jackson really refreshed a lot of things in boxing for me. I got to see new things and try new things. I learned a lot.

The only thing that matters is proving something to myself and I do feel like I have to prove something. I wasn’t happy with my last performance at all. I know I belong here at the elite level and it’s time for me to prove it.

I like to challenge myself and this is a great opportunity. Ako andam na alang niini nga, I will challenge anybody in the welterweight division.

I feel very comfortable being here in New York and I’m happy to be back at Barclays Center.

Javier Fortuna

For me it is an honor to be here in Brooklyn. This will be a great night for all of my fans.

I hope my opponent doesn’t have any excuses sa Biyernes, because I’m going to knock him out.

Everyone here is going to see a great performance and I can’t wait to get in the ring.

I’m a strong fighter and I am looking forward to showing everyone what I am capable of.

BRYAN VASQUEZ

I’m very thankful to be here and I look forward to a great fight. I promise it’s going to be a war.

I’m an exciting fighter who always comes to fight. This is my time and I will not disappoint.

Fighting in New York is a great opportunity. I want people to see that Costa Rica has great fighters.

I know I have a tough opponent, but he has never faced anyone like me. I’m going to give it my all and I hope he does the same.

MARCUS Browne

I feel like having a daughter has given me the kick in the rear that really has me focused on what I want to do, which is becoming a world champion. I want to give her a better life than I ever had.

My intensity and focus has never been higher. The fun part of boxing is back again.

I told my daughter that ‘daddy is going to give you the world. So I guess I need to become a world champion to give her the world. Her first word might be ‘champ.'

I’m so thankful to all the people at Barclays Center that allow me to continue to show off my talent and skills in this beautiful building.

Fighting on this Premier Boxing Champions card is really special and amazing. When I went to the Olympics in 2012 we stayed in Bolton and worked out at Amir Khan’s gym, now it comes full circle.

Fans can expect to see ‘spizazzfrom me. That’s a word I came up with back in my amateur days. I’m here to bring that ‘spizazz’ balik, if you want to know what that is you have to buy a ticket for Biyernes gabii.”

Heather Hardy

I don’t look past what is in front of me. I have a really tough challenge in front of me sa Biyernes. I know she has an incredible desire to win and I’m ready for that.

I’m a pretty aggressive fighter but I’ve been known to box. I go in there and make adjustments but I’m not afraid to throw punches.

There was a really unfinished feeling after my last fight, I was disappointed. I expected more from my opponent. I wanted to put on a show for fans to remember.

I definitely want to make up for my last fight this time and I feel like my opponent is on the same page with me about where we need to go to take this sport further.

Here’s what Cotto and his trainer, Freddie Roach, sa pag-ingon:

Miguel Cotto – WBC & Ring Magazine Middleweight World Champion

“I feel good and in the best shape possible. I just feel ready. I know Geale is a tough opponent and he is going to bring his best on Hunyo 6, but I trust in the work we have done here in Los Angeles and I’m going to bring my best too.”

“After 14 years in boxing, the best decision I could have made was to take the last year off. My mind was not in boxing, but since I got here with Freddie, everything is working perfectly again. Boxing is all I know. Boxing mao ang akong kinabuhi. Through boxing, I raised my family and I work to provide the best future for them. They are the reason I love boxing.”

“Boxing at this point in my career is a battle with myself. Everyday I need to bring my best in the gym from morning to evening. Next week has to be better than last week. I need to ask myself to be better every day. I know that if I bring my best to the gym every day, I can bring my best the night ofHunyo 6 against Geale.”

“Freddie comes here every day with the best attitude and he knows how to get the best out of me.”

“It will have been 364 days to the day on Hunyo 6 since I have been in the ring. It’s not difficult to get back in after this long stretch. I’ve been focused on my work. I have gained more knowledge during my time off in order to get myself ready to fight again.”

“Daniel Geale is the next chapter in my career. After I get through him, I can talk about what comes next.”

Freddie Roach – Cotto’s Trainer

“Miguel’s sparring has been great. His movement has been very good. It’s hard on me in the ring! His body shots are very effective and the head shots come with it. I think we are going to get a late round knockout. Geale is tough enough to go some rounds, but a knockout in a late round…that’s my call.”

“One of Miguel’s greatest strength against Geale will be his body shots, but Miguel’s knowledge in the ring will be Geale’s ultimate undoing.”

“He has found a new home here at Wild Card and I’m glad I provided that for him. He loves this gym. He loves the atmosphere. He’s thrived in this environment and when a fighter is in a good mood and happy, he performs at the highest level.”

Cotto vs. Geale, usa ka 12-round away alang sa Cotto sa WBC ug Ring Magazine middleweight World Championships, mahitabo Sabado, Hunyo 6 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and will be televised live on HBO. Here is what Khan and Algieri had to say about training camp, each other and more:

AMIR KHAN

Algieri is a fighter that has a lot of skills and assets. His range and height give him good advantages against opponents but I believe with my speed, movement and style it will be too much for him.

Each day me and Virgil Hunter are getting stronger and we have built a really good rapport. It takes time to get that but he understands my style even more now and what works for me so we’re only going to keep growing.

My aim since I was a kid and got into this sport was to be the very best. I fulfilled a dream when I got to the Olympics at 17 and brought back a silver medal. Later I became a world champion and then unified the light-welterweight division. My goal now is to fight the very best at 147 pounds and make my mark on this division too.

I was away in training camp when my daughter turned one last week. It’s hard to be away from her but as a fighter those are the sacrifices you have to make. Everything I do is for her and I can’t wait to see her and spend time with her after this fight. Her birthday celebrations have been put on hold until after the fight!

I’m really looking forward to returning to New York and fighting at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. I have good memories of this city because it’s the place where I had my first fight on US soil against Paulie Malignaggi in 2010 and also where I got married. I’m out to make it another good time this weekend.

CHRIS Algieri

I know that it gets said all the time, but this was truly the best and most intense training camp of my life. Working with John David Jackson has truly been a blessing. He has brought out the best Chris Algieri there is. You are going to see a whole new fighter come Biyernes sa gabii.

I am excited to be back in New York and excited to show the world what I am really made of sa Biyernes sa gabii. We are just a few days away from the fight and I am so anxious to get in there and get to work.

Amir is a tough fighter there is no doubt about that, but I am very confident in my ability and the game plan that coach has come up with for me.

You are going to see two proven champions in a high intensity and high level fight, laying everything on the line come Biyernes gabii.”

TUREANO JOHNSON PROVIDING GREAT SPARRING FOR DANIEL GEALE

New Jersey (Mayo 26, 2015)Gary Shaw Productions middleweight contender, Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KOs), is now the chief sparring partner for Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) as he prepares him for his upcoming WBC title clash with Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs). Johnson, who captured the WBA International and WBC Silver middleweight titles in his last bout, is currently ranked WBC #2, WBA #5, IBF #8 and WBO #13. He gives his thought on sparring with Geale.

Daniel Geale is a special fighter who possesses a lot of boxing skills,” said Tuerano Johnson. “He’s looking real sharp in the gym and his power is there. I can feel the snap on his punches and I think Miguel Cotto is in for a big surprise. Everyone is counting Geale out but not me. Gary Shaw brought me in to test Geale’s skills and after a few days of sparring, I believe Daniel will be crowned champion.

I brought Tureano to the gym to spar with Geale because he’s a good look to emulate Cotto and he’s one of the top fighters in the middleweight division,” Gary Shaw said. “The feedback I got from Johnson about sparring Geale is very positive. I’m confident that Daniel will use everything in his playbook to come out victorious.

Tureano Johnson is currently riding a 4-fight winning streak, three of which came by stoppage. Highly ranked across the board of all sanctioning organizations, Johnson is on the cusp of landing a big fight.

Ania ang kon unsa ang press conference partisipante sa pag-ingon:

ANDRE DIRRELL

A title means everything. It completes you as a fighter. That’s the top of the food chain in this sport, and that’s the pedestal we’re all trying to reach – world champion. Everybody wants to be a world champion. The greats had it and now we want it. It would mean more for my city, ang akong pamilya ug sa akong mga higala, and it’s something I’ll always be able to look back it. It would put me in the record books for life.

DeGale is not quiet. Today he’s chilling, maybe because he’s a little out of his comfort zone. But there’s a lot of tension when you’re standing right there next to your opponent. He might just be a little cranky today.

I like to lighten the mood and stay comfortable. This is all a part of the game. Let’s have fun now. It’s ass-kicking time when we get in that ring, but outside it’s all love.

There was a time when I didn’t want to do interviews. I didn’t want to go to fights. I didn’t want to hear fans online and on social media. I closed all them down because I didn’t want to hear people ask, ‘When are you fighting again? Talking about talent wasted, or saying I’m glad he’s gone.It hurt because there was nothing I could do. I was powerless even with all the power in the world.

SANTIAGO DEGALE

Andre says the belt doesn’t mean anything to him in the fight – pag-ayo, the belt means everything to me and more. I am here to make history and it doesn’t happen without that title.

I could win sa Sabado night and retire a happy manthat’s how much I want to beat Andre Dirrell. But when I do win that title, I am going for the rest of the belts, creating a lasting legacy for my country, my fans and myself.

Andre is a classy fighter and he showed in the press conference that he is a classy guy toowhen two fighters who believe in their ability 100 percent and know they are going to win a fight, it is going to be explosive.

There’s nothing but respect between us, but ultimately, we’re going to take each other to dark territory sa Sabado sa gabii, it’s going to be a brutal battleand one that I am going to win.

Edwin Rodriguez

This is home for me and I’m thrilled. I know I have a good undefeated fighter in front me, so I’m looking forward to a competitive matchup. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans.

This is an exciting day for me. I saw Pedro Martinez pitch so many times here at Fenway and he’s going into the Hall of Fame. Usab, my fellow countrymen Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz have made so much history here.

Being here today and then having the weigh-in at Faneuil Hall ugma and fighting sa Sabado, it’s just an amazing experience.

CRAIG Baker

“Kini mao ang usa ka dako nga oportunidad alang kanako. I’ve dreamed of fighting on a grand scale like this since I first started boxing.

The entire experience has been awesome. Kini ni-adto sa mahimo nga usa ka makapaikag nga away. I’m going to keep coming forward. I’m going to keep boxing all night.

Everyone should look forward to an action packed night, I know it’s going to be an interesting matchup.

Danny O'Connor

A couple of years ago Ken Casey and I talked about bringing boxing back to the city of Boston. Fast-forward to today and we’re doing it.

I’m excited to be part of it and to see boxing in Boston blossom. It’s good for the city and all the young boxers in this area.

I know I have a tough opponent in front of me and I won’t take him lightly. I’m planning on putting on a show for the fans come Sabado gabii.”

CHRIS GILBERT

I’m an aggressive come forward, in your face boxer from the first bell to the last.

I was full steam ahead when I got the call for this fight. I train all the time, I don’t take breaks and I’m always looking for an opportunity. Ako dili mahimo nga mas malipayon.

Danny O’Connor is one of the best in my weight division in New England. Everything he does, he does well.

I just need to keep my head and continue to come forward, I can’t get frustrated. I’m going 100 percent the full way through. If I’m busy and I fight smart I get good outcomes.

See here what the participants had to say Wednesday:

ANDRE DIRRELL

I always knew my day would come. I put in the work, I love this sport so I give it what I owe.

I’m happy to get a shot at another title. I’m not going to take it for granted. I’m going to put in my work and perform to the best of my ability and that will make me a world champion.

I’m glad to be getting in there with somebody who believes he can win. I want someone who will test me like I’ll test them. That’s a real championship fight.

I’m much hungrier than I was early in my career and I’m more focused mentally. With age comes wisdom. Everything I went through is all a blessing.

My goals are set and I’m going to accomplish every one.

SANTIAGO DEGALE

Dirrell’s team is trying to get in my head. They must be scared. I’m wound up and I’m ready.

I’m obsessed with making history. It’s what drives me to work so hard in the gym and succeed in the ring.

It’s been a 16-week camp come fight night, so it’s been a long time. My body and mind feel ready to fight, I am so sharp and in a very good place.

He’s a tricky, talented, confident fighterhe believes in his ability. He said that he would not get beaten again in his career, and I am sure he believes that 100 porsyento. So you have two very confident fighters going into the ring sa Sabado.

I’m going to show everybody who I am. I’m driven to become the first Olympic gold medalist from the U.K. to win a world title and I’m doing it for my country.

Edwin Rodriguez

It’s an extremely important fight because it’s so close to my home.

I’m excited to be fighting on NBC. This is a great opportunity for me to be back at the elite level.

It’s important for me to get this win and get into a big fight against the best. I know I have to look impressive and that’s what I plan on.

Danny O'Connor

I was disappointed in my fight with Paulie Malignaggi dropping out but there are always positives and one of them is that I’m now fighting in my hometown of Boston.

I do a lot of work in and out of the ring to prepare for a fight. I’m full focused now on fighting Chris Gilbert.

I want to thank all the people who helped get me onto this card, including Murphys Boxing, I promise I’m going to put on a show come Sabado.”

CHRIS GILBERT

This is a huge opportunity for me. I’ve known about Danny since I started boxing and I’ve even been on a few cards with him.

Danny has been the top New England fighter in my division and you always want to compare your skills with somebody like him.

I was in Vermont and I’m always in top shape prepared to get a call to fight and this here is that big opportunity.

Gary “Mibugway” O'SULLIVAN

This is absolutely awesome fighting here and it’s a very important fight for me to go win.

When I knock out my opponent sa Sabado, I want to be the number one contender in the division and fight all the big names.

Ryan KIELCZWESKI

It’s awesome fighting in Boston in front of my home crowd with all of my friends, family and friends in attendance.

Fighting on the undercard of this huge event with so many great fights makes the experience even better and one I’ll never forget.

BIG-TIME BOXING MABALIK SA BOSTON SA SABADO, MAYO 23 UBAN ANG PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS SA NBC

TAKE A LOOK BACK AT BOSTON’S RICH BOXING HISTORY

Boston (Mayo 20, 2015) – Boston is known for being home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, but many may not know that it is also a city that has had a long and rich history with the sweet science. Sa Sabado, Mayo 23, world championship boxing is officially back in Beantown when Premier Boxing Champions sa NBC returns with a showdown between Andre Dirrell ug Santiago DeGale at Boston University’s Agganis Arena with coverage on NBC beginning at 4:30 sa gabii. UG/1:30 sa gabii. PT.

The last time Boston saw a world championship fight was May 23, 2006 when two world title fights took place at TD Bank Garden, formerly the Boston Garden. That night saw British superstar Ricky “Hitman” Hatton kapildihan Luis Collazo in a welterweight world title fight, samtang Eric Aiken masuko kaniadto undefeated Valdemir Pereira for a featherweight world title.

Fighting in the Boston Garden was a great honor, never mind in a world title fight, but even a four rounder,” miingon Tony DeMarco, who won the welterweight world title in 1955 at the Boston Garden. “I had more fights there than anybody (28), including my pro debut. It’s always good fighting at home. You’re more comfortable at home. The fans know and honor you. Boston fans were real fight fans.

Boston has been deeply invested in boxing since the early 20th nga siglo. Gikan sa 1902-1908 the small town of Chelsea that borders Boston became the mecca for boxing as the sport was banned throughout most of America. Apan, Chelsea had a special ordinance that legalized boxing. It was during this time that Jack Johnson was faced with what he admitted was the toughest fight of his career, when he defended his heavyweight title against Sam Langford on April 6, 1906. Johnson won by a 15-round unanimous decision and refused to fight Langford again.

Dugang pa, Fenway Park, famed home of the Boston Red Sox, host 29 professional boxing cards between 1919 ug 1956. Beyond just hosting big fights, Boston has also produced a slew of Hall of Fame talent who were either born in Massachusetts or called the state home.

Noteworthy names include Roxbury heavyweight champions John L. Sullivan, Brockton heavyweight Rocky Marcianoand Brockton resident and middleweight champion Kahibulongang Marvin Hagler. Boston’s own featherweight championsSandy montura sa ug George Dixon plus Boston promoter Rip Valenti have all been enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Fighting in Boston was a great experience,” miingon Juan Ruiz, a two-time heavyweight world champion from Chelsea. “Like any sport, Boston sports fans are true fans who follow your progress. I could feel their emotion wherever I fought. I will never forget them. I fought in Las Vegas a lot and there were always Boston fans there supporting me. I always appreciated them traveling all over the country to my fights.

A father-son duo from Arlington, Misa. both had an impact on the heavyweight landscape decades after each other. Tom McNeeley fought heavyweight world champion Floyd Patterson sa 1961 and dropped the champion before eventually succumbing to a fourth round knockout. Over 30 years later, his son Pedro was the first man to fight Mike Tyson after he was released from prison, with the fight ending in McNeeley being disqualified.

One of the more unique athletes to come out of Boston, Dr. WilbertSkeeterMcClure was an Olympic Gold medalist, a doctor of psychology and a Massachusetts boxing commissioner. While at the 1960 Olympics, McClure served as the co-captain for Team USA and was the roommate of fellow gold medalist Cassius Clay. While he never reached his potential as a professional, he received opportunities against world class opponents Luis Manuel Rodriguez makaduha ugJose Torres, losing all three by decision. He also lost a decision and fought to a draw against Rubin “Hurricane” Carter. After his professional boxing career, McClure served as a Massachusetts boxing commissioner before eventually retiring in the Boston area where he resides to this day.

Another greatly revered fighter to come out of the Boston-area is Lowell’s Micky Ward. Hugely popular for his exciting style, Ward compiled a 38-13 pro record with 27 knockouts. He was most known for the three epic fight of the year award-winning battles with the late Arturo Gatti. Ward’s life and career was portrayed in the award-winning film “Ang Manlalaban”, which starred Mark Wahlberg as Ward.

It was great fighting in Boston. The fans were very supportive and knowledgeable about the game,” miingon Ward. “It was like I was fighting at homeit was home for me as a fighter. Fans traveled a lot to my fights, usab. They were a little crazy, drank lot of beer and were more vocal than most places I ever fought. I loved it.

Sa Sabado, Mayo 23 a new crop of young and hungry fighters will lay it all on the line, hoping to write the next exciting chapter of boxing history in the city of Boston. The action begins at 1:30 sa gabii. UG inside of Agganis Arena.
