Rene Camacho (men’s 65 kg), Robby Gonzales (men’s 80 kg), Jajaira gonzalez (women’s 60 kg) and Morelle McCane (women’s 65 kg) concluded their respective weeks with bronze medals on Friday. McCane’s latest bronze marks her second internationally this year, following her outing at the World Boxing Cup: Brazil 2025. Camacho finished his impressive week with his first Elite international medal after two wins in three appearances. Gonzalez secured her medal in her first international competition of 2025, while Gonzales finished the week with a 1-1 record for his first podium placement of the year.

Mendoza nabbed a 4-1 statement victory over Brazil’s Jucielen Romeo, avenging her loss to the Brazilian at the Paris 2024 Olympic ua si. In addition to her latest victory, the Caldwell, Idaho, native also defeated Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta on Thursday. Following Saturday’s performance, Mendoza has guaranteed herself at least a silver medal. She will now take on Mongolia’s Michidmaa Erdenedalai on Saturday in bout four.

She will now compete in her second gold medal bout of the year and is riding a wave of confidence heading into her final matchup of the week. She will square off against England’s Charley Davidson in bout three.

Among the Team USA men’s contenders, Georges continued his remarkable week with a 4 1 win over Moldova’s Andrei Zaplitnii on Friday. In his two bouts, Georges has consistently dominated from the opening bell and enforced his powerful game on his foes. He will take on Brazil’s Isaias Filho in bout 18.

“I feel good,” said Georges. “I’m making it deep in this tournament. I’m here for the gold. Tag kis, I’ve got a guy, rematch, he thinks he’s better than me, but he just caught me at a time when I wasn’t where I need to be mentally. But I’m going to show him tomorrow. We’re on to the next one, getting that gold.”

Watts opened his tournament on Friday against Mexico’s Alejandro Cruz and imposed his size and power from the beginning of the bout. The super heavyweight has been hard at work this year and is guaranteed at least a silver medal at the World Boxing Challenge. Watts is focused on closing his week strong against Italy’s Diego Lenzi, a Paris 2024 Olympian, in bout 19.

In addition to the four Team USA winners from Friday, Marie-Angelis Rosendo will make her tournament debut on Saturday in the women’s 70-kg weight class against Brazil’s Barbara dos Santos in bout seven. Rosendo is making her Elite international debut for the USA and is intent on showing out on the world’s stage.

The pair were the lone Team USA athletes in competition on day one of the tournament, and following their victories, they now advance to the quarterfinal rounds of their respective brackets.

Gonzalez (Glendora, California.) closed out her 2025 international debut in style with a 3-2 victory over Croatia’s Sara Beram. Following the victory, Gonzalez will take on Italy’s Rebecca Nicoli in the quarterfinals of the women’s 60kg division. A second win at the tournament for the Glendora, California., native will guarantee her a medal at the event; Txawm li cas los, she remains persistent in capturing the gold medal in her 2025 international debut tournament.

“First time fighting international since the Games,” said Gonzalez after her victory. “I felt a little rusty, but of course, it’s the first day. Back at it again tomorrow, and it’s going to be better tomorrow.”

Camacho (Houston, Texas) entered the ring with confidence for his Team USA international debut. After listening to the opening bell and stepping out to throw the first punch of the bout, Camacho closed the door on any questions about whether or not he was ready for the international stage. Camacho shined under the lights and ultimately secured a 3-2 win over Hungary’s Milan Petriman.

Pryce is Right again for undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight Pryce Taylor

TSHIAB YORK CITY (Lub rau hli ntuj 11, 2025) – Immediately after last Friday night’s impressive fourth-round stoppage of Ed “Tex” Fountain, Brooklyn’s undefeated Pryce Taylor (8-0, 5 Kos) was called America’s best heavyweight prospect by his promoter, Dmitry salita (Salita Promotions).

The 28-year-old Taylor and his manager, New York City-based Attorney Keith Sullivan, agree with Salita.

“They’re (Salita and Sullivan) both right,” Taylor said, “because they’ve seen me fight. Fighting brings the dog out in me. Nws (Tug ciav) was a test, real resilient, but like a punching bag that’s ready to fall off the chain. I had to keep hitting him and no way was he thinking about playing it safe. The referee saved his life; he was thinking about not falling down.”

The powerful Taylor entered the ring paying tribute to the late, great George Foreman by wearing a “Big George” T-shirt. Prior to the fight, Taylor noted that he had great success in the pro ranks fighting southpaws like Fountain. Taylor methodically ripped his opponent’s head and body with damaging punches, hurting Fountain in the third round with a straight right-left hook combination, followed by a barrage of shots on the sturdy Fountain who managed to survive the round.

Tug ciav (14-9, 7 Kos), who was the best fighter the 6’ 4”, 280-pound Taylor had fought in the pro ranks, was rocked from another series of violent combinations, when referee Charlie Fitch had seen enough and waved off the fight 36-seconds into the fourth frame.The fight was a scheduled 6-rounder on the “International Boxing Hall of Fame Night,” presented by Taylor’s promoter Salita Promotions, at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

“I was excited to be fighting on a show like that,” Taylor added. “He hit me first in the first round, something I always let my opponents do to test their power, gauge patterns, and figure him out. It’s like in baseball when a batter lets a pitch go by without swinging to see what he has on the mound. Because he’s a southpaw, his right is his jab, and he really wanted to use his left power hook. He had a good poker face, but he couldn’t hide it when I hurt him. He tried not showing he was fazed, keeping himself upright, but he felt my power. I like being accurate, especially throwing power punches. I punished him at the end, throwing a body shot, an uppercut, and then two right hooks.”

“I thought George Foreman would have been proud of me and maybe thought he was seeing himself fight when he saw me punch. I put on a show. I’m a combination of Foreman and Muhammad Ali; power punching like Foreman, elusive like Ali with good footwork and light on my toes.

“I’m not sure if this was the best fight of my career, but he was my best opponent and the toughest guy I’ve fought. He came into the ring in good shape and tried to fight. His downfall was Pryce Being Right dua. I love throwing my straight right and that keeps opening up my left hook to the body.”

Taylor had a 60-11 pib xyaum ua cov ntaub ntawv, including a pair of New York Golden Gloves titles, and he was the heavyweight runner-up four times in the prestigious USA Boxing National Championship tournaments. “Pryce’s TKO win was exactly what I expected – dominant, calculated, and explosive,” Sullivan remarked. “He’s not just another prospect; with continued work, he can be the next great American heavyweight. With every fight, he’s proving that he has the tools, the discipline, and the mindset to be a force within this division. We’re building something special, and the world’s about to see it.”

Taylor will be fighting next in his first scheduled 8-round bout on July 26 in Detroit on a Salita Promotions card headlined by undisputed World Heavyweight Champion Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 Kos) versus Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO) ntawm me me caesars arena. Kansas super middleweight prospect Marco “El Tiburón” Romero goes back to the future this Saturday in Portland, Maine

KANSAS CITY, Tej zaum. (Lub rau hli ntuj 9, 2025) - Kansas boxing phenom Marco “El Tiburon” Romero (7-0, 6 Kos) started his pro career a year ago on Father’s Day Weekend in Portland, Maine, and he returns there this Saturday night for his third fight in The Forest City.

Despite the Cross Insurance Arena being more than 1,500 miles from his home in Olathe, Kansas, the 19-year-old Romero feels that Portland has become his second home, where he kick-started his pro career, and has developed a surprisingly growing fan base.

Romero stopped Jonathan Gary (2-1) Lub rau hli ntuj 15, 2024, in the second round at Cross Insurance Arena. Last October, Romero defeated Orlando Salgado (3-5) in Portland by way of a third-round technical knockout at the Exposition Building.

This Saturday the gifted super middleweight prospect faces “The Conqueror” Nafys Anas Garner (4-2, 3 Kos), fighting out of Sacramento (XWS LI), in a scheduled 6-round bout at Cross Insurance Arena.

“I’m more motivated than ever and couldn’t be happier to see the plan unfolding like we talked about a couple of years ago with Coach John (Brown, manager/head trainer), Uncle Al (Valenti, tus pab tswv yim), my father (Salvatore Romero, pab tus kws qhia) and Sergio (Paj, pab tus kws qhia).

“I’m ready and excited to be fighting again in Portland. I would love to bring a world title fight to Portland, where people appreciate good boxing. Traveling to fight is something I’m used to from my amateur days. Portland is like my second home because I’ve been treated so well there by everyone. I have big respect for Bobby Russo (pab txhawb). He’s an amazing guy who has shown me respect from the start. He gave me my Golden Tub (Most Outstanding Boxer Award, Russo is President of the National Golden Gloves), when I won my division at the (2024) National Golden Gloves.”
