Atlantic City, New Jersey (November 2, 2017)–Local favorite Anthony “Juice” Young will headline a special night of action dubbed “Boardwalk Brawls 2” on Saturday, December 16th at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
The show is promoted by Mis Downing Promotions.
Young of Atlantic City has a record of 18-2 with six knockouts, and is riding a seven fight winning streak.
The 29 year-old Young is a six-year veteran who has garnered wins over Jose Javier Calderon (4-1), and is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over 56-fight veteran Carlos Winston Velasquez on August 19th at The Claridge.
This will be Young’s 4th consecutive start at The Claridge and 12th overall fight in his hometown of Atlantic City.
Young’s opponent in the scheduled ten-round bout will be announced shortly.
Appearing the eight-round heavyweight co-feature will be Heavyweight Chazz Witherspoon.  
Witherspoon of Paulsboro, New Jersey has a record of 36-3 with 28 knockouts.
The 36 year-old Witherspoon is a 13-year-professional has fought some of the top fighters in the Heavyweight division.
He has wins over Yul Witherspoon (1-0), Michael Alexander (11-0), Talmidge Griffis (24-6-3), Jonathan Haggler (18-1), Adam Richards (21-1), Ty Cobb (14-2), Nick Guivas (11-2-2) and Michael Marrone (21-5).
Witherspoon has stopped his last six foes, and is coming off a 4th round stoppage over Carlos Sandoval on October 1, 2016 in Trenton, New Jersey.
Witherspoon’s opponent will be announced shortly.
An all-star lineup makes up an exciting undercard.

In eight-round bouts:

Former world Super Bantamweight champion Alicia Ashley (24-11-1, 4 KOs) of Jamaica will fight Kristie Simmons (8-3, 2 KOs) of Denver, Colorado.
In six-round bouts:
Gabriel Pham (9-1, 4 KOs) of Atlantic City will take on an opponent to be named in a super middleweight bout.

Prince Badi Ajamu (28-3-1, 15 KOs) of Camden, NJ will take on an opponent to be named in a cruiserweight fight.

Former U.S. Olympian Terrance Cauthen (36-8, 9 KOs) of Trenton, NJ will take on an opponent to be named in a junior welterweight bout.

In four-round bouts:

Vidal Rivera (7-0, 4 KOs) of Camden, NJ will take on an opponent to be named in a featherweight bout.
Mike Hilton (7-0, 6 KOs) of Trenton, NJ will take on an opponent to be named in a cruiserweight bout.

Young Trailblazer Award recipient- Tally is an up and coming multi-talented rap artist, songwriter, actress and musician from sunny Nashville, Tennessee.  Growing up, Tally took interest into becoming an artist when she began making YouTube covers, landed lead roles in her school plays, and starting playing the guitar, which helped her songwriting skills. Music always played an important role in her life and that landed her a star role in the second season of Lifetime’s The Rap Game. After being eliminated after the first episode, she didn’t let that deter her future success. She continued to focus on her music career, ultimately landed her another opportunity on the third season of The Rap Game, as well as performing at the 2017 Radio Disney Awards.
Young Trailblazer Award recipient- Simone Decoud has made headlines due to her continuous success as a point guard at UC-Riverside. This Riverside native has been a three-time, All-Big West Honoree, who has averaged 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game this season.  Simone has finished her junior year in college as the team’s seventh all-time leading scorer and second on the career assists list and expects to graduate with a degree in Media Cultural Studies. After graduating, she will look to begin her professional basketball career overseas.
Golden Glove Award recipient- Heather “The Heat” Hardy has let her talent do all the talking. She has contributed to diversifying the sports industry by her remarkable success as a female boxer and strength through her continuous achievements in the industry. Being a single mother and a professional boxer has come with a lot of hard-work and dedication but Heather has conquered her adversities through recognition in combat-sports. Her most recent achievement was her TKO win at her MMA debut against Alice Yauger on June 24th. Heather is also unbeaten in the boxing ring with 20 wins, 4 KO’s and the WBC super bantamweight & featherweight world titlesTitans of the Trade Award recipient- Shan McDonald was inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame after leading the Rebels to 511 victories in 17 seasons, seven-straight NCAA tournaments from 1990-96, and three appearances in the Women’s College World Series. The former UNLV softball coach  drove her team to break, or tie, 30 school records, which helped earn her the ‘all-time winnings coach’s title. She has proven to be a true titan  in sports.
Meritorious Achievement Award recipient- Sparkle Lee has lead a reputable career as a boxing referee that has helped reshape the image of the ‘third man in the ring’ for all women. She has made history on countless occasions including as the first female referee to be inducted in the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Her love for boxing started as a routine workout at Gleason’s Gym in the 80’s and transpired into a career of 30+ years, paving the way for female referees to follow.

Las Vegas (Sept. 22, 2016) – Another memorable Titans of the Trade Breakfast of Champions is in the books as the seventh installment of the Mayweather Promotions’ ceremony which took place on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Tom Colicchios Craftsteak inside The MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This year’s event resulted in a morning of excellence, regarded as the most influential to date, surrounded by powerful and accomplished women in the sports industry.
Honorees included the first African American VP in MLB history Marian Rhodes, Premier Boxing Champions President of Boxing Operations Sylvia Browne-Owens, Boxing’s WBC World Champion Alicia Ashley, and a newly added Young Trailblazer Award category recipients: the young and talented group of 6 siblings ages 8-18; The Finest Family, and record-setting high-jump phenomenon Vashti Cunningham.
For the second year in a row, the breakfast was hosted by HBO’s ‘Ballers‘ star Jazmyn Simon who opened the ceremony with her story on how she withstood the trials of all the hard work put into auditions and the “no’s” that came along with them before going to snag a starring role in HBO’s #1 rated 30-minute comedy series.
The Finest Family opened up the stage by receiving the first ever Young Trailblazers Award. The award was added to the program this year, to celebrate the young achievers in the sports & entertainment industry. The Finest Family showed us what unity and perseverance can bring.
“We were once homeless, all we want to do is give back and let the families know to push hard. Now here we are accepting an award from Mayweather Promotions, who truly believes in our family. This award is dedicated to our parents, we would not be here accepting this Young Trailblazer award if it wasn’t for them.
“We fight the same battles as everyone else, we fight together as a family, and we fight to win. To motivate kids around the world to stay off the streets, and that we will not stop.”
Following a heartfelt speech, was boxing’s own Alicia Ashley who was honored with the Golden Glove Award, for her achievements in boxing and business accomplishments post-career. Ashley made history when she won the WCB super bantamweight title, becoming the oldest female champion at the age of 48.
“This was a great event, receiving such an amazing award among such amazing people, I am honored to be here with such strong women and to be The 2016 Golden Glove recipient!”
Marian Rhodes took the stage to receive The Titan of the Trade award, with her moving speech, and reminder to everyone that change is necessary.
“Al Campanis once said, African Americans could not hold positions in the front offices in baseball, most people would have saw that as a statement. I saw that as an opportunity. It was an opportunity to show how I was raised, how I was prepared in school growing up, who my parents were and taught me to be. That this is not about my race.
“Now, I stand here proud to be the highest ranking African American woman in baseball, to have become the first African American Vice President at the St. Louis Cardinals organization back in 1994 (for a team who existed since 1881), and currently holding the highest position in MLB Human Resources, with the Arizona Diamondbacks. I am a Titan of the Trade!
Closing the ceremony of great exemplary recipients was Sylvia Browne-Owens who accepted The Meritorious Award, for her fearlessness and accomplishments, in the male dominated boxing industry.
“I want to thank Mayweather Promotions, I am humbled and honored to accept such a prestigious award. I am proud to be among such powerful women in this industry.
“I was put in a position where I would become someone, one day. I was put behind Al Haymon who was the best at what he did. I was molded to not take no as an answer and to work hard. Never put limits on what you can accomplish.”
This year’s ceremony brought unity amongst those in attendance. Each person was moved by these inspiring figures, and touched by their journey in becoming a Titan!

NEW YORK – June 28, 2016 – Inspiration was in the air June 11th as the women of boxing gathered at Seven Bistro for The Raging Babe Brunch, New York, New York, Raging Babe Events’ seventh gathering of its kind, designed to break barriers and leverage contacts to conduct business and build friendships. The gathering was the first in New York City, and drew a slew of “Raging Babes,” who together honored Main Events’ CEO Kathy Duva. Included in those who attended were former NYSAC Chairwoman Melvina Lathan, Referee Sparkle Lee, IFBA World Flyweight Champion Eileen Olszewski, WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion Alicia Ashley, four-time National Boxing Champion Melissa St. Vil, IWBF World Super Featherweight Champion, Ronica Jeffrey and guest speaker John Femiano of John Francis LLC.
After a rousing introduction by “Raging Babe” Michelle Rosado, attendees brunched and networked, with Frank Sinatra crooning in the background, sharing their triumphs and business cards. “The brunch is so much more than just a breakfast event,” said Rosado. “The connections forged here have resulted in business collaborations and friendships. What started as an annual event, has grown, and I can easily see us gathering quarterly, all over the country.”
Post brunch, the time had come to honor one of boxing’s trailblazers, Kathy Duva, who was presented the Raging Babe Luminary Award. Among those who shared stories of Duva’s boxing growth and dominance was Main Events’ Vice President of Operations, Joleen Mizzone, who has worked side-by-side with Duva for 19 years. Although she couldn’t attend in person due to being in California with three of Main Events’ fighters, Mizzone had colorful, but moving words for her friend and colleague. “Kathy Duva has been through a lot in her life. I have seen her overcome so much in these past 19 years. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow she is one of the strongest people I know!” She has inspired me to be the person I am in this business. Her morals and eye for this business are [expletive] extraordinary.
“One of the secrets to happiness is the innocent enjoyment of simple things,” said first-time brunch attendee and former NYSAC Chairwoman Melvina Lathan as she described the event. “With that in mind, how wonderful to share a moment in time with a group of women, dining,, conversing, and laughing, all the while emanating beauty, power, grace and joy, without even trying. It was intimate, genuine and loads of fun, especially the reading of the infamous congratulatory letter submitted by Jolene!”
“This was another inspiring event in one of the greatest cities in the world,” said Rosado of the brunch. “There was so much talent, so much heart, so much passion, and so much boxing knowledge contained in these four walls. There were lovers, fighters, survivors, and I sincerely hope that the connections they made on that day result in amazing business collaborations and lifelong friendships.  I’m so grateful for everyone who attended, and to Kathy Duva, for being an example for all women in the industry.”

ASHLEY TOPS LOADED FIGHT CARD AT AVIATOR IN BROOKLYN
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2015) – She is a dean at the Bernard Hopkins School of Pugilism.
Alicia Ashley, 48 years old, will attempt to win a world title, the WBC world female super bantamweight crown, on Thursday evening in Brooklyn, and if she is successful, she will be honored with another incredible addition to her resume. She will gain another entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female to win a world title, setting an even higher bar with her incredible longevity and durability.
The attempt will take place on another “Brooklyn Brawl” card promoted by Dmitriy Salita, and Ashley will be paired off with Christina McMahon, on a slate running at the Aviator complex in south Brooklyn.
 Ashley sports a 22-10-1 (4 KOs) record, and shared some of what makes her tick, and continue to persevere past a point where even the sturdiest pugilists hang up the mitts.

“I feel I’ve had an illustrious career in boxing that sadly is not reflected monetarily,” Ashley said. “I’m a four time world champion and have been in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest female boxing champion. I’ve fought all over the world and have garnered respect wherever and whenever I fight. For me, boxing is a performance and I always do my best to entertain.”

Salita said that he expects she will do just that. “We are honored to have such a superior athlete and role model topping this fine card,” he said. “Alicia is someone men, women and children can look up to, someone who has so many great qualities, as an athlete and a person.”

Ashley fights for love of craft, and works on her skills after putting in a days work. “My main job is a personal and boxing trainer at Gleason’s Gym,” she continued. “I live in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn with my husband Matthieu, who I met at the gym six years ago.”

And what she does she think of the lady who will try and take her down a peg Thursday night?

Contender Potapov Part of Eastern European Talent Surge this Thursday night in Brooklyn

World-class pugilism is back in Brooklyn, Salita Promotions is proud to announce.
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2015) – On Thursday, Oct. 29, blue-chip contender Nikolay Potapov, ranked No. 9 in the world among bantamweight, will show off his considerable skills in the borough of kings.
His impressive ranking comes after just 13 professional fights, all wins.
Promoter Dmitriy Salita is putting the finishing touches on a rock-solid fight card, which will unfold at the Aviator complex in south Brooklyn.
“Nikolay is a top contender and I look forward to his fight on the Brooklyn Brawl series as his introduction to American fight fans,” said the promoter, who has been instrumental in fanning the flames of the sweet science in NYC for the past several years. “He has all the skills to compete with the best in the world.”
Potapov hails from Russia, and is part of a new wave of Eastern European battlers who are taking control of the sport, cut from the cloth of the Gennady Golovkins and Sergey Kovalevs.
He puts his 13-0 (6 Kos) record on the line against a sturdy Mexican, Pedro Melo, a veteran of 25 pro fights in a bout scheduled for 10-rounds.
Like many Russian fighters, Potapov is a patient predator, likes to come forward, be first, has solid basics, puts punches together well, knows the value of a focused body attack, picks his spots smartly…basically, he will be someone bantamweight aces will need to contend with, soon. But first, he has to handle business on Thursday night.

Potapov – currently ranked as the No. 14 bantamweight in the world by the WBO and now rated No. 13 globally by the WBC and No. 10 by BoxRec – will put his undefeated 13-0 record (6 KOs) on the line as he makes his debut on U.S. soil. The fast-rising battler piled up more than 180 amateur tilts and amassed a number of national and international tournament victories, and now as a 25-year-old pro has wasted no time in signing on for four 10-round bouts and a 12-rounder against experienced, top competitors. In his last pro victory, Popatov earned the WBA Asian title by besting Jason Canoy, who is rated No. 14 in the WBC and No. 12 in the IBF.

We sat down with Potapov to find out about his history with “the sweet science” and to learn more about what the unbeaten contender expects from his U.S. debut:

Question: How did you get your start in the sport of boxing? What made you look to turn professional?

Nikolay Potapov: I started boxing when I was a young boy. My father said, “Boxing teaches you to be a man, and develops your strength inside and outside.” When I was young our neighbor was a Hall of Fame boxing trainer of Russia. My father did not have to think about it for long before taking me to the gym, and that was my beginning in boxing.

Question: What was your childhood like?

Nikolay Potapov: I grew up in Podolsk, Russia, near Moscow. I started playing soccer and doing kick boxing at the age of six before eventually starting to box. I would go to school and then go to either soccer or kick boxing practice. I was a very good soccer player and captain of my team, every day I would practice until the lights went out at 9 p.m.

Question: You’ve had a quick rise to be listed among bantamweight contenders and the Top 15 in the world right now. What’s been your favorite part or most surprising aspect of your early success?

Nikolay Potapov: I had more 170 amateur fights which I believe gave me a great amount of experience and the ability to climb up the pro ranks at a faster pace. I love boxing and turned professional to pursue my dream of becoming a world champion, fighting championship fights and thrilling fans with my skills!

Question: What are you looking forward to in the U.S.? What do you think fighting in the U.S. is going to be like?

Nikolay Potapov: This will be my first trip to the U.S.A. I have always dreamed about fighting in the U.S. and in New York City, and my dream is coming true. I want to show my skills to the world and make my Brooklyn Brawl debut an exciting one. I am very focused on my boxing career and am very excited to progress and fight the best fighters in the world. I am committed to defeating whoever I have in front of me in the ring. That is why I am already rated in the top 15 in the world with only 13 fights, because I want to fight the best in my division. I fought fighters who are rated higher than me and with more experience from early in my pro career, I just want to challenge myself and fight the best!

48-year-old Ashley looks to extend Guinness World Record by knocking off undefeated Christina McMahon of Ireland.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2015) – ATTENTION GUINNESS! The Book of World Records may need to be updated after the Thursday, Oct. 29 Brooklyn Brawl card at the Aviator Sports Complex. Boxing champion-turned-promoter Dmitriy Salita announced on Wednesday that an already-outstanding card is adding a female world title fight with possible historic implications.

Brooklyn’s own Alicia “Slick” Ashley, who will be 48 years, 81 days when the bell rings later this month, is a former world titleholder who currently owns the Guinness World Record as the most mature female boxing world champion. She first earned the distinction on Oct. 13, 2013, when she defended the WBC Super Bantamweight belt with a victory over Zenny Sotomayer in Tijuana, Mexico, at 46 years, 61 days, thus etching her place in the renowned global archive.

Ashley (22-10-1, 4 KOs) – ranked second in her division by BoxRec and noted as one of the best pound-for-pound women’s battlers in the world – has the chance to re-write history once again and put her own world record further out of reach when she challenges undefeated Irish fighter and current Interim WBC Bantamweight champion Christina McMahon (7-0, 3 KOs). McMahon has compiled an unblemished slate since beginning her professional career in 2010 and will look to halt Ashley’s attempt at extending her Guinness mark on Thursday, Oct. 29 – the winner takes home the vacant WBC Super Bantamweight title.

“This will be another, epic Brooklyn Brawl show with a WBC world title fight featured at the event. This show will have prospects and contenders, and fighters from all parts of the globe and from all around New York City,” said Salita, the former IBF, WBA and NABA International Junior Welterweight Champion who fights out of Flatbush, Brooklyn, as a professional. “Alicia is one of the most highly-regarded boxers in the world and is looking to follow in the footsteps of future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins by re-capturing a title at this point in her career. The fighting pride of Newburgh, N.Y., was impressive last month against Baltimore’s Kevin Womack Jr. and looks to add another stoppage victory to his burgeoning resume.

Undefeated junior lightweight contender Dimash Niyazov of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, will have his mettle tested once again at the Aviator complex. The Brooklyn police officer, whose story was chronicled by the Wall Street Journal in August, improved to 8-0-3 (5 KOs) with a six-round Boxing At The Beach unanimous decision over local fighter Ariel “Fuego” Duran in a Brooklyn-Queens crosstown rivalry bout.

Detroit’s James Gordon Smith (8-0, 5 KOs) is another rising star putting his unblemished record to the test in Brooklyn. The eight-time Motor City Golden Gloves title-winner and former national amateur champion is intent on making a name for himself in the pro ranks.

A light welterweight and Olympian making his professional debut, Serdar Hudayberdiyev comes to the Brooklyn Brawl after an accomplished international amateur career. The pride of his native Turkmenistan on the West Coast of the Caspian Sea, he captured gold in the Asian games and was selected his country’s flag bearer in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Heavyweight Emilio Salas (3-1-1, 1 KO) of Puerto Rico – who opened up the Boxing At The Beach slate with a second round TKO at the expense of opponent Glenn Thomas – will add some thunder to the Oct. 29 card while welterweight Giorgi “Goga” Gelashvili (2-0, 2 KOs) of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, will provide the lightning. Gelashvili, a former three-time Georgian national champion, overwhelmed opponent DeLoren Gray-Jordon last August with a speedy salvo of blows in round two, leading to his second stoppage victory in as many fights and as many months.

A product of Corona, Queens, Edward Valdez was recently added to the upcoming Brooklyn Brawl slate. A veteran at 13-11-2 (10 KOs), Valdez will face Aik Shakhnazaryan (16-2, 7 KOs) of Samara, Russia, in an eight-round lightweight contest.
