Garcia and Guerrero will meet in a pivotal 12-round welterweight showdown while Los Angeles’ Martinez battles undefeated Sammy Vasquez Jr. op Zaterdag, Januari 23 at STAPLES Center with televised coverage beginning at 8 p.m. EN/5 p.m. PT.

The Los Angeles-native Martinez participated in AEG’s Season of Giving event at L.A. Live-, which brought 200 kids from local charity organizations to skate and participate in a party at Tom’s Urban.

Travis Kauffman honored by Hometown of Reading, PA

Lectuur, PA. (December 21, 2015) – Zwaargewicht mededinger, Travis “My Time” Kauffman was honored in his hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania by the City Council for his excellent performance on December 12th against Chris Arreola in San Antonio, Texas.
In the proclamation, Kauffman was honored for not only his fight with Arreola, where he battled the former two-time world title challenger to a fight in which most people watching the fight both at ringside and watching on NBC had Kauffman ahead, but also for his activities in the community, which includes feeding the homeless and giving back in many facets in Reading.

“I worked hard for years just to get recognized by the city I love,” zei Kauffman. “I made many mistakes in my life, but I turned my life around and have done everything to give back to my community and the people of Reading, Vader. I’m honored today to finally be recognized in my city after all the hard work and the dedication. Thank you to the mayor, the City Council, and the people of Reading, Pa for this award. I’m at a loss for words, but my journey has just begun. I love my city and will rep it until the death of me.”

Kauffman, 30-2 met 22 knock-outs, is already back in the gym and is looking forward to his next bout which should come in the beginning of 2016.

Las Vegas (December 18) – De “force” was with Cuban star and newly crowned lightweight world champion Rances Barthelemy (24-0, 13 KO) as he won a 12-round unanimous decision over Russian southpaw Denis Shafikov (36-2-1, 19 KO) in the headlining bout of the final Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) op Spike fight card of 2015. The four-fight telecast, which was supported by non-televised fights featuring some of Mayweather Promotions’ rijzende sterren, took place at the Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Coming off of a luxury world tour, Floyd Mayweather returned stateside and sat ringside as promoter of tonight’s fights. The recently retired five-division world champion, who also learned today he was selected asSports Illustrated Fighter van het Jaar, was animated and engaged through the final bell of the evening.
De belangrijkste gebeurtenis, which started off as a close toe-to-toe battle, ended in the Barthelemy’s favor as he swept the latter quarter of the bout. Shafikov controlled the beginning of the fight, staying in the pocket and throwing more powerful punches than Barthelemy as the Cuban had a difficult time adjusting to the significantly shorter, yet stronger, style of Shafikov.
The turning point of the fight occurred when a cut caused by a punch by Barthelemy opened up above Shafikov’s right eye in the eighth round. The blood began to poor furiously and referee Vic Drakulich called the ringside doctor over to inspect the cut. When the fight resumed, Barthelemy attacked the Russian’s eye and never let up for the remainder of the fight. He took advantage of the cut and coupled it with his height and reach advantage which led to a recipe for success as he is now a two-division world champion. The judges saw the bout 119-109 en 116-112 tweemaal.
“There were moments where I was trapped into my style of fighting. It took me a minute to adjust to Shafikov’s style and exchange punches with him,” Said Barthelemy. “I’m really happy with the number of punches I was able to get off.
“I was really impressed with Shafiov’s warrior style. He never gave up even after getting hurt with punches that were affecting his fight. That really caught me by surprise and also that he was able to last the whole fight. The fact that he continued really says something about him as a fighter.”
“I’m not sure if I won the fight,” Said Shafikov. “I’m very disappointed and I want a rematch.”
The co-main event saw a bizarre ending to what was to be a cruiserweight elimination bout. Detroit southpawIsiah Thomas (15-0, 6 KO) was winning the fight on all three judges’ scorecards through round three when Russian power-puncher Murat “Ijzeren” Gassiev (22-0, 16 KO) threw accidental late blows to Thomas’ head after the bell. The punches forced referee Jay Nady to make the tough call that the punches “diminished the value” of Thomas’ ability to continue. As the fight had not yet gone four rounds, unified rules state that the fight does not go to the scorecards, thus ruling it a no contest.
Chris Pearson (16-1 11 KO), a promising super welterweight from Dayton, Ohio put his previously undefeated record on the line against fellow unbeaten Eric Walker (12-0, 6 KO) of Plaquemine, Louisiana in the second televised bout. Walker came out strong, dominating the early rounds against Pearson, another member of the stable of rising stars from Mayweather Promotions. A wobbled Pearson persevered and attempted to turn the tide in an action-packed fifth round with a series of head shots.

The seventh round saw both fighters exchanging a brutal barrage of punches culminating with a fast-paced eighth and final round drawing a standing ovation from the crowd. The underdog Walker, who spent 13 years in Dixon Correctional Institute in Louisiana, scored a unanimous decision victory (79-71, 78-74, 80-72) winning the biggest fight of his life in front of a captivated national TV audience.

“If you believe in God and work hard at what you’re doing, you’re going to succeed,” zegt Walker. “Look at me now.
“I had watched his previous fights and knew that my right hand would be too much for him and that I could land it anytime,” vervolgde Walker. “My conditioning was really the difference tonight. I was in great shape and I was able to rely on that when the going got tough.”

Pearson was disappointed in the decision and was left wanting a rematch.

“I take my hat off to him,” said Pearson. “His punches were crisp and hard. I just couldn’t get going on anything consistently. I thought it was closer than the judges’ scorecards and I definitely want a rematch as soon as possible.”

Davis, a 21-year-old protégé of Mayweather, lived up to his reputation as a budding superstar scoring a hard-fought ninth round knockout victory. Sanchez showed his toughness and resiliency as he forced Davis to fight three rounds longer than any fight of his career.Davis showed his speed and power in the eighth round as he landed an uppercut to knock down his determined opponent. In the ninth round, he threw a massive left hand to finish Sanchez, sending Mayweather to his feet in celebration.

“It felt great to fight all of these rounds and get the work in,” Said Davis. “He’s a tough fighter and I learned a great deal tonight. It was a very good experience for me.
“I just listened to my corner and Floyd, took my time and broke him down. I want to fight again as soon as possible for a world title.”
Mayweather, who was very pleased with Davis’ prestatie, sees the young undefeated fighter’s future as bright.
“It’s always good to go out there and get the W,” Said Mayweather. “Hij is jong. He’s still learning. We’re looking forward to him being a world champion some day.”
Mayweather relished in the opportunity to promote one of the final fights of the year in his hometown of Las Vegas saying, “I’m so happy we were able to showcase on national television some of the talented fighters we have at Mayweather Promotions. Winnen of verliezen, I am proud of all of them.

An undefeated fighter out of Wilmington, Delaware, Douglas impressed in his TOE-tot-teen DINSDAG debut in September when he showed power and skill in defeating Braulio Santos in his first ten-round outing. The 24-year-old had already beaten Daniel Attah in 2015 and previously took down veterans Anthony Napunyi, Jean Javier Sotelo and Osnel Charles.
The 28-year-old De Alba is undefeated since dropping his pro debut back in 2011 and has picked up victories of Jesus Lule, Bernardo Uribe and Jose Bustos in 2015. Born in Puerto Rico but fighting out of Reading, Pennsylvania, De Alba previously fought at Sands Bethlehem in January 2014 when he took down Chazz McDowell.

Heavyweight contender Travis Kauffman chimes in on controversial decision with Chris Arreola

Lectuur, PA (December 14, 2015) -Het afgelopen Zaterdag night at the AT & T Center in San Anonio, Zwaargewicht Travis Kauffman (30-2, 22 KO's) and former two-time world title challenger Chris Arreola engaged in a action packed bout that saw Arreola get a dubious split decision by scores 114-113 twice for Arreola and 114-113 for Kauffman.
Most accounts of the fight had Kauffman getting the decision, which included PBC ringside scorer Steve Farhood.
Kauffman van Reading, PA. pushed the action and landed the more telling blows, which included a knockdown in round three from a jab-right hand combination. The fight validated Kauffman as a player in the division, but he wasn’t satisfied with just a good performance.
“Ik voel me goed. I thought I did enough to win the fight. I had it 8-4 of 7-5 in my favor plus the knockdown,” said Kauffman after viewing the fight.
“I dominated from rounds three to nine. I took off ten and eleven as I thought that I was secure with my lead. I dominated the twelfth round and after a three-punch combination, Chris went falling back and it looked like his glove touched the canvas. Maakt niet uit wat, I thought I won the twelfth round. I backed him up the entire fight. I dominated him at his own game.”
Kauffman believes that he won over the crowd and those in attendance thought that he deserved the nod as well.
“The crowd booed me as I came into the ring and cheered me when I left. I won them over and I won over the boxing public.”
With the performance, Kauffman should be in line for another significant fight in the first quarter of 2016.
“I spoke to my manager, Al Haymon and he said that bigger things are going to happen for me. Weather it is a rematch or someone else, Ik ben klaar voor die. I showed that I am a force in the division. I worked for so long for this fight, so I am just going to take a week off and enjoy my kids and I will be right back in the gym. I am looking to be back sometime between February and April.”
“I appreciate all the fans. The ones that have been with me before the fight one the ones that became fans op zaterdag.”
Said Kauffman’s father Marshall Kauffman, “I am very proud of Travis and what he did in the fight Just look at each of them and you could tell who took the beating in the fight. The worst case scenario, the fight it was 6-6 but Travis scored the knockdown that should have gave him the fight. I believe he will get another opportunity. He showed what he is capable of doing.”
