BROOKLYN (Duben 17, 2016) – Undefeated rising welterweight star Errol “Pravda” Spence Jr. (20-0, 17 KO) went emphatically from prospect to contender with a fifth-round stoppage of former world champion Chris Algieri (21-3, 8 KO) na Champions Premier Boxerské (PBC) na NBC Sobota night from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“Pravda” dominated by landing 41 percent of his power punches over the five rounds and only lost one round on the three judges’ scorecards. Spence Jr. sent Algieri down for the first time in the fourth round with a combination finished off by a straight left hand.
Algieri survived the round, but Spence Jr. was determined to get a stoppage and he connected with another straight left that put Algieri on the canvas early in round five.

“Everyone wanted to see what I could do against a proven fighter and I blew him out of the water,” added Spence Jr.

“I’m just disappointed,” Said Cunningham. “I knew I just had to work. The corner kept telling me to go to the body more in the later rounds. I’ve been down before. I knew I had to go at this guy.”
The southpaw from Walcz, Poland and the orthodox veteran from Philadelphia combined for several exciting exchanges as Cunningham was able to land his share of power right hands but was more often than not met with Glowacki’s thudding left.
“The plan from the beginning was to hit him with the left hand and you could tell I was hitting with full power,” řekl Glowacki. “I couldn’t hit that hard against Marco Huck because of my injury and now I’m hoping to keep that power up in my next fight.”
Cunningham went down again in the 10th round from a short right hand but was able to rally and stun Glowacki with a big right hand. The champion recovered quickly, but Cunningham did arguably his best work of the fight in the 11th round as he aggressively attacked Glowacki with combinations to the head and body.
The fireworks continued in the final round as a strong combination put Cunningham down for the fourth time in the fight. The challenger rose to his feet and attacked effectively at times, but the left hand proved to be too much.
“He punched with me and caught me coming in,” Said Cunningham. “I knew after the second round knockdowns that I had to get rounds back and go get him. He’s a smart fighter.”
Cunningham was actually able to land a higher percentage of punches than Glowacki as he connected on 34 percent versus just 25 percent from Glowacki. However the knockdowns and Glowacki’s output advantage of 462 na 366 was enough for him to retain his title by scores of 116-108 a 115-109 dvakrát.

Kalajdzic was effective with his power punches throughout the fight as he landed 36 percent of his power punches to 29 percent from Browne. His most effective moment came in round six when he sent Browne to the mat with a right hand.
“He caught me with something that grazed me,” Said Browne. “I didn’t even know what it was. I walked into the punch but I was able to get up from it and get back in rhythm.”
“He didn’t do anything that bothered me,” řekl Kalajdžič. “I was doing my thing. I should have listened to my coaches more and I would have stopped him.”
Browne was able to recover for the final two rounds and earn the split-decision by scores of 76-74 for Kalajdzic, 76-74 for Browne and 76-75 again for the still unbeaten Staten Island-native.
“I love fighting in front of my fans and family. We gutted this one out and it’s on to the next one,” added Browne.

MB: “Fighting in front of 10,000 people that are cheering against you will prepare you for anything in this sports. A lot of people don’t get that until they’re at the highest level. The atmosphere is just so intense and the Olympic fans are so passionate.
On the bond they share with their Olympic teammates:
ES: “All of us on the team have a great bond. Anytime you spend four months in camp with the same group of guys and you’re training and losing weight together, you become very close. It automatically creates a natural bond and connection. They are like brothers to me.
MB: “There is always going to be that bond of brotherhood regardless if you talk everyday or every three years. Spending every waking moment with these guys and singing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ every morning, we build up a group bond and individual friendships that are so important to us.
On their impressions of the other:
ES: “Marcus was always the loud one in the Olympic training center. Marcus was always encouraging everyone to work hard and train harder. I want to be like Evander Holyfield. He and his Olympic teammates like Pernell Whitaker all held belts at the same time.
MB: “Errol and I are kind of opposites. Errol is more of a quiet and reserved guy. He works hard and runs like a gazelle. He fights hard and at the end of the day he is just a good dude. The plan is for all of us to be world champions and do great things.

“Chci bojovat nejméně třikrát v letošním roce. Dokud jsem zdravá a vše je v pořádku, Chci zůstat aktivní. Nechci čekat na protivníka. Chci se dostat do ringu a zůstat vítězství.”
CHRIS ALGIERI
“Těšíme se na uvedení na další skvělý výkon. Měl jsem některé z mých nejlepších výkonů v Barclays a to bude další.
“Jsem stále více a více nadšený, jak se dostaneme do boje noc. Jsem opravdu těší na Duben 16.
“To dítě by nemělo být tady, kdyby nebyl dobrý bojovník. Je tu velký tlak na něj. Je to velmi obtížný úkol jít od vyhlídky na uchazečem. Není to snadné, aby se tento skok. Musíte být opatrní při velké skoky. Jsem přesvědčen, že se jedná o obrovský skok.
“Byl jsem v ringu s velkými kluky a tvrdé hitters. Styly, aby bojuje, ale je to všechno o matchups. Box je sport, rytmus. Musíte být s mužem a uvidíte, jak styly ze síťoviny.
“Bojoval jsem u 147 a 154 I když kick-boxoval, takže jsem byl v ringu s těmi většími kluky. Nikdy jsem neměl problém s velikostí.”
Glowacki Krzysztof
“Jsem tak rád, že mohu znovu bojovat ve Spojených státech a budu dodávat další skvělý souboj. Doufám, že oba polské a američtí fanoušci jsou tam bude k této výbušné boje.
“Jsem naprosto připraven přijít do Spojených států a obhájit svůj titul.
“Bylo to velmi frustrující, že mají zranění, která jsem měl. Nemohl jsem dělat nic. Dobrou zprávou je, že jsem tak neuvěřitelně hladový vrátit. Jsem ještě hladovější než obvykle.
“Můj příjem zpátky domů poté, co Huck Boj byl neuvěřitelný. Když jsem dorazil na letiště tam byli lidé s květinami a mám policejní doprovod na mém rodném městě. Je to neuvěřitelný pocit, být mistrem světa. Chci zase ten pocit, když se vrátím. Byl jsem poměrně neznámá, ale teď lidé se blíží mě na ulici a je to skvělý pocit mít.”
STEVE CUNNINGHAM
“Jsem nadšený, že další příležitost na světový titul v divizi Cruiserweight. Jsem vždy připraven, Jsem vždy připraven a v posilovně.
“Glowacki je impozantní nepřítel. On udělal velký rozruch v jeho U.S.. debut a lidé budou chtít vidět, jestli může dostát že. Chystáme se dát dohromady a udělat nějaké ohňostroje.
“To není nic nového území pro mě jen nový soupeřově. Nechceme vypadat v minulosti nikomu a jsme připraveni pro tento jeden. Je to válka čas.
“Vím, že je poháněn, ale já jsem poháněn rovněž. Bojoval jsem po celém světě. Je to nové boje v blízkosti svého bydliště, ale je to stále bude cítit jako v Polsku v Barclays Center. No já jsem bojoval v Polsku před, takže budeme jen vzít vše od tábora a přivést ji k boji.”
MARCUS BROWNE
“To je jen dalším krokem pro mě na cestě k tomu stát se mistrem světa. Každý, kdo chce, aby to vypadalo, jako by je nejlepší bojovník, co jsem kdy čelil. Duben 16 uvidíme.
“Vidím, co vidím z "Hot Rod". On je mladý, on je neporažený a nechce ztratit svou 0. Jdu se postarat o to v ringu.
“Tento druh bojů jsou nezbytné pro nás oba, a to by mohlo způsobit ohňostroj. Nebyl na mém radaru dříve, ale přijde Duben 16 budeme oba na každém jiný je radar pro jistotu.
“Je to ten nejlepší soupeř jsem čelil v odborném boji? Ano. Ale to není to nejlepší chlap Byl jsem v ringu s. Duben 16Jdu se postarat o mé podnikání v kruhu. Takhle jsme konverzovat v boxu.
“Nemůžete tam jít si myslel, že to, co jste dělali v amatéry vám dělá velkou profesionála. Je to dvě zcela odlišné hry. Byl jsem tam se spoustou dobrých kluků od mladého věku.”
Radivoje KALAJDZIC
“Jsem rád, že bojuje v Barclays Center na velkou show. Jen jsem připravený bojovat a doufám, že Marcus Browne je příliš.
“Pracoval jsem s Keithem Thurman před a dostal do ringu s ním, protože jsme oba vlaku v St.. Petersburg, Florida. Je to opravdu dobrá práce. Je to velký bojovník.
“Marcus má samozřejmě rychlost a sílu. Nebudu vám říkat své slabiny, ale pokud se budete dívat na boj v noci, Ukážu ti.
“Jsme hlavně zaměřena na to, co budu dělat. Pracujeme na našem herním plánu a budeme se tam dostat a zneužít své slabé stránky.
“Jsem nadšený, že boje v Brooklynu. Bojoval jsem v mém rodném městě a já jsem nadšený, že dav proti mně. Je to jen bude s ním a mě v ringu.”
