In an action-packed fight during which both fighters threw over 750 poinçons, the Houston native Flores was slightly more fluid and able to do enough work on the inside to keep his unblemished record intact.
Flores a dit, “I thought I would hurt him with body shots, so we did a lot of work down there tonight. I think my movement was the difference. Ryan said I couldn’t move, but I showed him and everyone else that I can.
As Flores appeared to be stealing the early rounds, Kielczweski stepped on the gas at the midway point, throwing punches in bunches and landing regularly throughout the second half of the bout.
Kielczweski said, “I thought we fought a great fight tonight for the fans. I started a little slow, but I really picked it up in the fifth round.
The increased activity was a little too belated to salvage the fight for the Quincy, MA native.
Kielczweski added, “I was gaining steam in the second half of the fight. I can’t say that I won, but I thought it could have been a draw. It was a good fight though, and I will be back.
An excited Flores said, “It felt great to get this win tonight. I boxed and banged it out with (Kielczweski). He had some pop, and in the last round he got me with a good body shot, but we are used to tough fights like this. I like it like that. This is fun to me. We will watch the video and correct what I know were a lot of mistakes, but I believe I’m ready for the next level. I’m ready for the top contenders.
Televised coverage kicked off with Olympic bronze medalist Yordenis Ugas (16-3, 7 KOs) defeating contender Jamal James (20-1, 9 KOs) par décision unanime (99-91, 98-92, 96-94) in a technical 10-round welterweight showdown.
Three days ago, James stepped in to replace undefeated welterweight Bryant Perrella, who was forced to withdraw from tonight’s bout because of an injury to his left thumb. James was coming off just 27 of days rest following his July 16 split decision victory over Wale Omotoso.
Ugas fought last 825 days ago when he lost his second consecutive bout, the third defeat of his career. Cependant, Ugas showed no sign of ring rust vendredi night as he casually controlled the action against James.
ugas, a five-time Cuban National Champion, used his tremendous experience and was able to neutralize Jamesheight advantage.
We focused on the body because (Jacques) was tall,” said Ugas. “So we planned on chopping him down, and that’s what I did.
Although Ugas had initially been preparing for his long-awaited comeback against the left handed Perrella, he had no difficulty with the orthodox James.
Ugas added, “I followed my corner’s instructions and won round by round. I felt very consistent in there tonight.
Knowing that he’d come up short, James said, “I thought it was a good fight. (ugas) brought it tonight. I was fighting his fight unfortunately. I started to outpoint him late, so I should have started earlier with my combinations and countering. I was trying to knock him out and I should have just boxed.
James added, “I have no excuses though, I am a grown man and could have said ‘noto taking this fight. But fighting is what I do. Other fighters are not doing what I did tonight. Bien Sur, if I had more time to prepare I might have done better, but I am a fighter.
On his prospects moving forward, Ugas said, “After the long layoff, this is a new beginning for me, and now I am looking for a big opportunity in my next fight. It felt good to get back to fighting.
A resilient James summed things up adding, “A fight like tonight makes me hungrier to get back in the gym and get myself ready to come back again better than ever.

Flores has picked up two victories on 2016 and will enter the ring again looking to put himself squarely in the crowded pool of featherweight contenders when he takes on Kielcsweski in the main event on ESPN and ESPN Deportes. Here is what Flores had to say about his matchup, training camp and more:
MIGUEL FLORES
On fighting in his first main event on ESPN
I’m very thrilled to be fighting in my first main event on ESPN because I know many boxing fans from around the world will be tuning in. I feel I bring an exciting style to the ring that the fans will enjoy. It’s fights like this, on a major TV network like ESPN, that take your brand to another level. So the goal is to perform at my best ability and bring even more excitement to the featherweight division.
Sur son récent camp d'entraînement…
Training camp has been very hard, but I know that hard work will pay off when it’s all said and done. I’ve had a lot of time to prepare for this fight so I’ll be at my best. My longtime trainer, Aaron Navarro, and my strength and conditioning coach, Edward Jackson, have been pushing me really hard. Together as a team, we will be ready to shine ce vendredi.”
On his matchup with Ryan Kielczweski
Kielczweski is a very tough opponent. He’s a very good boxer with a tremendous amount of skill. He only has one loss, which was a split decision, donc pour moi, he could easily be an undefeated fighter. Cela étant dit, I know I have to be at my best.
On the landscape of the featherweight division
The featherweight division is loaded with great fighters. Carl Frampton, Leo Santa Cruz, Gary Russell, and all the other title holders are very skilled fighters. With each win, I’m inching closer to facing all of them.
On fighting on the East Coast for the first time in his career
All my fights have been in Texas with the exception of a couple. So traveling to the East Coast will be something new for me. I plan to get there a few days early to get acclimated to the climate. Kielczweski is from Massachusetts, which is not far from the venue, so I know I’ll be up against all his hometown fans. I’m not worried about it. I just want to put on a great show, win this fight and capture all his fans in the process.

Douglin, who is trained by his mother Saphya, opened the fight very aggressive, stealing the first round on all three judges’ tableaux de bord. Douglin continued to press the action, also winning the second round battle with two of the three judges, but Benavidez would soon settle in and take control of the war.
“Je savais que ça allait être un combat difficile. I knew Douglin wasn’t going to go out without a fight,” Ledit Benavidez. “So I came in here and started slower than I usually do, just using my jab a little bit more.
The 19-year-old Benavidez made the necessary corrections in round three and never looked back, chipping away throughout the fourth and fifth rounds. In the sixth, Benavidez teed off on Douglin with damaging punches to both Douglin’s body and head.
Dans le septième round, Benavidez was still having his way when one of the top turnbuckles gave out, causing the ropes on one side of the ring to collapse, and stopping the fight momentarily. When the action resumed, Douglin came forward with a flurry, but that burst of energy was short-lived.
Benavidez regained control in the eighth round, and in the ninth he scored the only knockdown of the fight. In the tenth and final frame, Benavidez threw a barrage of punches, several of which buckled Douglin, causing referee Gary Rosato to intervene and stop the fight at :35 dans la ronde.
When asked about Douglin’s resilience, Benavidez said, “I hurt him a lot of times, but I kept my cool. I knew I was going to get him out of there sooner or later and that’s exactly what I did tonight. This is a good victory for me. Douglin is a tough veteran. He started fast and swinging wildly, and his offense probably looked better on-camera than it was, but he did what he had to do to survive until the final round.
Benavidez continued, “It was important to me to get the stoppage and show everybody that I am just as strong in the late rounds as I am early on. J'aime cela. This is what I signed up for. I want tough fights.
A disappointed Douglin said, “I was in this fight, I just got winded. I was in great shape and everything, but I got winded there towards the end. Benavidez is a tough, young fighter. He was able to make me stay in there longer than I wanted to, but I feel good and I’ll be back.
Benavidez concluded, “Maintenant, I would like to say that I don’t think about who’s next. I’m just trying to progress in my career and I’m not trying to call anybody out. But if I do dream about fighting anybody, it would be whoever is the champion at my weight. I’m going to work hard to get to that spot.
Televised coverage began with exciting undefeated contender Alejandro “Le Charro” Mois (21-0, 15 KOs) defeating Philadelphia prospect Naïm Nelson (13-2, 1 KO) par décision unanime (99-91, 98-92, 97-93) in a ten-round bout fought at a catch weight of 144 lbs.
Nelson, who stepped up to face Luna on only 24-hours notice, tried to bring the fight to Luna in the early rounds and make it a physical contest on the inside.
Despite Luna landing a couple of blistering uppercuts in the second and third rounds, Nelson still came forward. Luna later said, “Nelson was a tough guy and could bang a little bit.
By the close of the third round, Luna’s left eye appeared to be swelling badly, but luckily for Luna Nelson’s gas tank appeared to drain just in time. Although Nelson was all aggression and wanted to fight in a phone booth early on, he found himself landing fewer punches and looking to create distance in the middle rounds.
Luna soon took over the action, and in the seventh round a cut opened on Nelson’s forward, but was quickly controlled by his corner. Néanmoins, Luna had done enough damage in the middle stages of the scrap and was able coast to a unanimous victory on the scorecards.
Obviously we prepared for another opponent, but I felt I had a solid performance against him,” said Luna. “Nelson came to fight and was in shape, and I thought I handled him pretty well, but I know I can still do better.
When asked about taking the fight on short notice Nelson said, “I make no excuses, but we took this fight at 9 p.m. last night and I knew I was stepping up to face a tough opponent. Je n'ai pas la décision, but I felt good in there tonight, and I proved I can compete with a world class fighter.
Nelson added, “Luna is a good puncher and he’s strong. I won’t take anything away from him. We fought a hell of a fight, and I look forward to being back soon.
Luna summed up the night adding, “I’m looking to build on what I did here tonight and get back in the ring soon for another good fight.

PHILADELPHIA (Août 1, 2016) – Undefeated rising contender David “Le drapeau rouge” Benavidez is on the fast track to a world title opportunity and he will look to make another statement when he battles contender Denis Douglin dans le cas de 10 tour principal de Premier Champions de boxe sur ESPN and ESPN Deportes Vendredi, Août 5 live from the 2300 Arena à Philadelphie.
Couverture télévisée commence à 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT with exciting lightweight contender Alejandro “Le Charro” Mois (20-0, 15 KOs) taking on Ireland’s Stephen “The Rock” Ormond (21-2, 11 KOs) dans une attraction de 10 tours.

Here is what Benavidez had to say about his opponent, training camp and more:
On his recent training camp in Southern California
We had another great training camp out here in Long Beach, Californie. We put the final touches and wrapped up camp and I’m ready to go. There was plenty of good sparring and we worked on some things we know will help us in this fight. I’m in great shape and I feel sharp.
On fighting in his first main event on ESPN
Fighting on ESPN is great exposure for me and my team, especially in the main event. We all worked so hard to get in this position and now it’s time to capitalize on this great opportunity. I know a lot of family and friends back home in Phoenix will be tuning in. I just want to shine out and perform to my best ability.
On facing his opponent Denis Douglin
“Cela va être un combat difficile. I know Douglin is hungry to give me my first loss. He’s coming off three wins in a row, donc je prends ce combat très au sérieux. Being that he’s a southpaw, I’ll have to do some things a little different. We worked on all that stuff in camp so I know I’m going to be ready for anything he brings to the ring.
On training with his father and head coach Jose Benavidez
My dad Jose has been guiding my corner from the first day I started boxing around three years old. Together we have a strong bond and I respect him very much. He’s come up with a great game plan tailor made for Douglin. He’s made a lot of sacrifices to help me get to this point and I’m very thankful to him for all that he’s done for me and my brother. I want nothing more than to bring him another great victory.
On fighting on the East Coast for the second time in his career
The East Coast fans are very passionate about their boxing. Douglin, being that he’s from New Jersey, will have a lot of fans rooting against me. But I’m not going to let anything distract me from the task at hand and that’s coming back home with a win.

Unbeaten Sergiy Derevyanchenko Dominates Former Champion Sam Soliman on His Way to Second-Round Stoppage In PBC on ESPN & ESPN Deportes Main Event Thursday Night From Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT

Mashantucket, CT (Juillet 21, 2016) – Unbeaten rising middleweight Sergiy “Le technicien” Derevyanchenko (9-0, 7 KOs) renversé Suis “Roi” Soliman(44-14, 18 KOs) three times before stopping the former world champion in the second round of the main event of Premier Champions de boxe sur ESPN and ESPN Deportes Thursday night from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT.
Un 2008 Ukrainien olympienne, Derevyanchenko was in control from the start, standing his ground and delivering smart shots as Soliman attempted to flummox him with movement and awkward angles.
Soliman got caught with a missile right hand from Derevyanchenko that landed right on the chin and sent the off-balance Australian to the canvas. Soliman didn’t appear hurt however, as he continued to come forward to try to disrupt and frustrate the undefeated fighter.
Derevyanchenko continued to land effective shots and caught Soliman off-balance again in round two, this time with a left hook that put Soliman on the ground. Soliman again got to his feet but Derevyanchenko quickly stunned Soliman and put him into survival mode.
Soliman tried to tie up and avoid Derevyanchenko, but eventually the undefeated fighter training, who trains in Brooklyn, landed several right hands before a sweeping left hook sent Soliman to the ground hard and for the final time of the night. Referee Johnny Callas waved the fight off at 2:41 du second tour.
The opening bout of the evening saw hard-hitting Ievgen Khytrov (13-0, 11 KOs) lay a non-stop attack on Paul Mendez (19-3-2, 9 KOs) before eventually earning a stoppage in the ninth-round of their middleweight matchup.
Khytrov and Mendez went toe-to-toe from the first-round, exchanging flurries and showing a willingness to stand in front of their opponent. It was Khytrov who showed the more varied attack while getting out to a fast start and landing 50 percent of his power punches over the first three rounds.
Mendez stood tough and continued throwing punches, but was unable to land anything that bothered Khytrov. The Ukranian-born fighter who trains in Brooklyn attacked the body early while dazing Mendez with uppercuts and power hooks. Rounds seven and eight saw Khytrov increase his attack as he seemingly landed power punches at will.
The fight continued in that one-sided manner throughout the opening minute of round nine. Sensing an opportunity, Khytrov cornered Mendez and hit him with a series of unanswered hooks that forced referee Joe Lupino to stop the fight, at the recommendation of the ringside physician, 1:20 dans la ronde. Khytrov ended the fight with a 482-125 advantage in punches landed while landing 50 pour cent de ses coups totaux.
Voici ce que les combattants avaient à dire jeudi:
SERGIY DEREVYANCHENKO
I looked into his eyes after I knocked him down the first time and I knew he would continue coming forward. I wasn’t going to drop my guard. I didn’t even feel that punch on my glove because it was so clean to the chin. But I felt the final punch.
I warmed up more than once and that broke my rhythm. In the ring I had to get my rhythm.
Soliman came out nervous and not very coordinated, but that’s the way he usually fights. That’s his style.
I’m going to keep moving forward. I can’t sit and wait. We will assess the situation and move from here.
Sam Soliman
I’m doing well. I didn’t get to warm up, just a couple of minutes, but that’s no excuse. He did his job. That’s never happened before to me.
He’s a good boxer who did what he had to do. Je ne peux pas prendre quelque chose loin de lui.
After every fight, fighters have to decide what to do next. I have a lot outside of boxing that makes me happy, and it takes the sting out of tonight.
IEVGEN KHYTROV
I love to fight and battle and go toe-to-toe. I executed the game plan. My defense was much better and I’ve worked hard on my defense. This was my best fight because that guy stood and fought, he didn’t run.
I wasn’t surprised that Mendez took so many punches because I didn’t throw every punch hard, I mixed it up, but did throw some hard punches.
I want a couple more fights then I want to fight for the world title. That’s what I’ve worked so hard to do. I’m not going to dodge anybody. I want to fight Gennady Golovkin and take his belts.

Le non. 1 Foxwoods fight of all-time, held on April 16, 2011, was also promoted by DiBella Entertainment, and was selected as the 2011 Ring Magazine and BWAA Fight of the Year. Defending champion Autres Berto (27-0) et challenger Victor Ortiz (28-2-2) battled for 12 tours, each getting dropped twice, with Ortiz winning a hard-fought decision (114-111, 114-112, 115-110) for the WBC welterweight title.
A close second place is the 2003 BWAA Fight of the Year, in which future Hall-of-FamerJames Toney (65-4-2) won a 12-round decision over reigning IBF cruiserweight champion Vassiliy Jirov. The action started days earlier at the pre-fight press conference when a skirmish erupted as tables were overturned and glasses thrown. The animosity continued between the two fighters and their respective camps right up to the final bell. Previously undefeated, Jirov (31-0) started fast but faded, getting decked in the final round.
En 2004, New England favorite Scott “The Sandman” Pemberton, hailing from nearby New Bedford, MA, was involved in a great 12e tour, come-from-behind knockout of always-tough Omar Sheika in a rematch of a previous draw, for a regional super middleweight title.
Two other N.E. fan favorites who fought regularly at Foxwoods were multiple-time world champion Vinny Paz (Pazienza during his boxing career), combats de Cranston, RI, and New Bedford’s all-action “Sucra” Ray Oliveira. Paz had a 13-3 record at Foxwoods, mis en évidence par son 1998 décision sur Glenwood Brown and his 50ecareer win in his retirement fight against Tocker Pudwill en 2004. Oliveira was only 6-7-1 fighting at Foxwoods, but he faced nothing but iron and he did defeat a world champion, Vince Phillips, dans leur 2000 non-title fight that produced the second-most total punches (2,989) recorded at that time.
Brazilian boxing fans always turned out in force when countryman Acelino “Crosse” Freitas fought at Foxwoods, primarily because of the large Brazilian community in Connecticut. Freitas fought there four times, all in lightweight world title fights, défaiteZahir Raheem et Artur Grigorian et de perdre à Juan Diaz et Diego Corrales.
Other great fights at Foxwoods include future world middleweight champion Andy Leecoming back from the brink of possibly getting knocked out to stop Craig McEwan dans le 10e tour de leur 2011 lutte, Carl Froch‘s dramatic late surge in 2009 to knock outJermain Taylor (who was well ahead on the scorecards) dans le 12e round for the WBC super middleweight championship, Pernell Whitaker taking a close decision fromAndrey Pestryaev (115-113, 115-112, et 114-113) dans leur 1997 WBA eliminator (later ruled a No Decision due to Whitaker’s failed drug test), et Ike Quarteyovercoming two knockdowns to successfully defend his WBA welterweight title versusJose Luis Lopez en 1997 (Quartey was originally awarded a win by majority decision, but a scoring error was discovered and the fight was ruled a majority draw).
Two of the greatest boxers in modern boxing history, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. et Roy Jones, Jr., both fought at Foxwoods in 1998. Dans son 15e combat pro, Mayweather registered a third-round technical knockout of Miguel Melo, while Jones successfully defended his WBC/WBA light heavyweight titles with a 10e-TKO tour de Otis Grant. In the Jones-Grant co-feature, IBF lightweight champion Shane Mosley successfully defended his title against Jesse James Leija, who was unable to answer the bell for the 10e tour.
