BROOKLYN (January 18, 2017) – Undefeated welterweight world champions Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman hosted a press conference in Brooklyn Wednesday to discuss their primetime showdown that headlines SHOWTIME CHAMPION CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on CBS, presented by Premier Boxing Champions,Saturday, March 4 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
 
The broadcast, which will air live from 9-11 p.m. ET/6-8 p.m. PT, is just the second primetime boxing presentation on the CBS Television Network in nearly 40 years.
 
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, are priced at $750, $500, $400, $300, $150, $100, and $50 and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, www.barclayscenter.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Tickets are also available at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center. Group discounts are available by calling 844-BKLYN-GP.
Thurman and Garcia were joined by their trainers at the press conference Wednesdayafternoon at Barclays Center. Here is what the participants had to say:
KEITH THURMAN
“It’s a pleasure to be here again. This is where it’s at. I get the most love out here, since the first time I ever fought here. The fans in New York make me feel like I’ve made it.
“This fight March 4 has two undefeated champions. Two of the best welterweights going toe-to-toe. Someone’s ‘0’ has to go.
“I’m blessed to get this fight because I’ve been asking for it. I’m looking forward to it. We’re working hard down in Florida. You don’t want to miss this fight.
“This fight is going to have action. There’s too much on the line. I remember Danny from the amateurs. I applaud him for everything he’s done in this career. He signed the wrong contract though, because Keith Thurman’s got this. Danny Garcia, you’re getting knocked out.
“At the end of the day it’s your actions that speak louder than words. We will make our statement on March 4. You will know after that night, who the champion truly is.
“Angel will talk to try to get people off of their game. Danny is an elite fighter, and he can talk for himself. These father trainers seem to like the limelight as much as the fighter, if not more. At the end of the day, I’m only fighting Danny Garcia.
“Danny Garcia has some power. He has enough, even compared to me. But if you look at a lot of his fights, he knocked guys down. But they got back up. There is a difference between knockdown and knockout power.
“He’s dangerous but we believe I’m more dangerous. He hasn’t fought a true welterweight with punching power. I believe I’ll be the last man standing on March 4.
“We’ll see what kind of camp he has. If he works hard, then he’ll be geared up for a tough fight. A fighter’s performance is based off of training camp, not any past fights.
“He’s a champion and I’m a champion. You will see the results on March 4. I’m eager to unify these titles and this should be an exciting fight.”
DANNY GARCIA
“You know I’m already in shape. I’ve been active and in the gym getting ready. I feel great. Come March 4, I’m going to be the unified champion again.
“This is nothing new to me. I’ve been the underdog in a unification fight. At the end of the day, Angel and I, we’re going to come out with a great game plan and get the victory. I will have my hand raised at the end of the night.
“I just had to tell Keith to be careful what he wished for. He wanted this fight, but now that he’s got it, you have to deal with me.
“I’m going to take this one round at a time to get the victory. If the knockout comes, it comes. I’m not going out of my element. I’m going to do what I do best.
“We’re definitely going to work the body. But we’ll work the head too, wherever we can hit him. We’re just working smart and hard in camp. Nothing is changing from past camps. We’re going to put in work.
“I’m excited to fight on CBS. The fans deserve fights to be on free television so that everyone can watch it. I’m excited to unify titles in another division.
“At the end of the day he’s a world champion and you have to respect that. He’s nothing I haven’t seen before. I’ve been fighting people like him since I was a little kid in Philadelphia. I’ve been boxing my whole life for this moment. I just have to go in there and make sure I’m ready mentally and physically.
“I just have to have tunnel vision on fight night. I’m going to show composure during every round and keep the momentum going my way. If it switches a little bit, then I’ll make adjustments and adapt like a true champion. I’ll be prepared like I always am.
“I feel very comfortable at Barclays Center. It’s like another day in the gym with me in here. It’s a fantastic atmosphere. This is the best place in the world to fight and I’m happy to be back.
“I hope everyone comes out to Barclays Center on fight night. I know there are a lot of Puerto Ricans in New York and I hope they’re here to support. Barclays Center is my home away from home.
“I just want to make sure I’m mentally and physically ready. If I’m ready, nobody can stop me. We’re going to do what we always do. Put the hard work in, talk a little trash and back it up.”

“Were here. We’re going to be ready. We’re focused on Danny Garcia. Keith Thurman will be the victor that night and stake his claim as the best in the division.
“Danny Garcia is a very good fighter. He’s like a mirror image of Keith Thurman. He boxes well, punches well and has good defense. But he’s facing a kind of fighter that he’s never faced before. Keith Thurman is the most talented welterweight in the world.
“Keith will bring the strength. He’s not a built-up welterweight. He comes down to make welterweight from about 170 pounds so we expect size to be an advantage.”

LAS VEGAS (December 13, 2016) – The strongest overall card of the highly acclaimed “Knockout Night at the D” series is set for this Saturday night (Dec. 17), airing live (7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET) on CBS Sports Network from inside the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center indoor facility. FloBoxing.tv will live stream the undercard worldwide, starting at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET), in addition to three main card TV bouts – excluding North America – beginning at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET).

The “Knockout Night at the D” series, presented by the D Las Vegasand Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.

Jim “J.R.” Ross and Joey Varner will call all the action live from ringside, while Jeff Huston will be the ring announcer and fight-week master of ceremonies.

The 10-round main event is a classic match-up of contrasting styles between undefeated Oscar Cantu (14-0, 1 KO) and Aston Palcite (21-2, 18 KOs) for Cantu’s North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight belt, as well as the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super flyweight championship. Cantu is rated No. 4 (as a flyweight) by the World Boxing Council (WBC), while International Boxing Federation (IBF) Pan American super flyweight champion Palicte is ranked No. 11 by the IBF and No. 15 by the WBO.

Unbeaten Chilean junior middleweight champion Angelo Baez (15-0-1, 11 KOs) will make his U.S. debut against Jamaica-native Nathaniel Gallimore (15-1-1, 12 KOs), fighting out of Evanston, Illinois, in the eight-round co-feature.

Promising Los Angeles welterweight prospect Flavio Rodriguez (5-0, 4 KOs) faces Mexican foe invader Dilan “El Terrible” Loza (5-0, 3 KOs) in a six-round bout that will open the televised segment of the evening.

Las Vegas’ new Big 3 – welterweight Jeremy “J-Flash” Nichols (7-0, 2 KOs) and RJJ-promoted junior lightweight Randy “El Matador” Moreno (7-0, 6 KOs), and bantamweight Max “The Baby-Faced Assassin” Ornelas (6-0, 3 KOs) – will all be showcased this Saturday night.

In a pair of scheduled six-round fights, flashy 26-year-old Nichols meets another undefeated opponent, San Diego’s Kevin “KO” Ottley (3-0, 2 KOs), in an interesting match of unbeaten prospects that should propel the winner to the next level of the welterweight division, and constantly improving 21-year-old Moreno takes on Milwaukee’s Mike Fowler (5-3, 2 KOs) in the former’s eighth fight since turning pro March 20th. Fan favorite Ornelas, 18, will square off in his seventh the eighth fight of his six-month pro career against California bantamweight Jorge Perez (6-4-1, 3 KOs) in a four-rounder.

Ft. Worth, Texas junior featherweight Jessie Hernandez (7-1, 6 KOs) is also fighting on the undercard against Sharone Carter (6-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round match.

Cantu vs. Palicte will be contested for two belts as Cantu defends his North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight championship, in addition to the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super flyweight title.
Rated No. 4 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) as a flyweight, the 25-year-old Cantu (14-0, 1 KO) will face the toughest test of his 4+-years professional career in the heavy-handed Palcite, but he’s excited to be headlining this nationally televised show from Las Vegas.
“I feel honored to be headlining a card in Las Vegas,” the Texan said.  “The opportunity is what every boxer wants because Vegas is the biggest boxing hum in the United States and it has produced great champions in the past.  I want to thank Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions for this opportunity.
“A victory can help me open doors to the world title and allow me the show everybody what I stand for, which is being God’s humble champion.   The outcome of this fight will come down to who wants to win more.  I’m sure that adjustments will need to be made throughout the fight.  Either way, I am well prepared to get this victory.”
Palicte (21-2, 18 KOs) is a dangerous Filipino fighter who is world rated at No. 11 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 15 by the WBO.  Now training in Los Angeles, Palicte is looking forward to making his American debut Dec. 17.
“I’m really excited,” he remarked.  “I’ve been training o hard, pushing myself to the limit, because I also want to excel as much as the other Filipino fighters. I am grateful for this opportunity to fight in the main event.  Knowing he is undefeated, this is going to be an exciting, challenging fight.
“I’ve always dreamed of fighting for the world title and I’m taking things one step at a time.  Through my promoter, RJJ, it was mentioned that there’s a big possibility for a world title challenge in 2017 if I win this fight.  I’ve fought some quality fighters and I think I can do what I want in the ring, though I won’t say it’s going to be easy to control the fight.”
Styles made fights and a classic match-up between a consummate boxer (Cantu) and powerful puncher (Palicte) guarantees an intriguing fight that should be highly entertaining and incredibly competitive.  Both fighters also respect each other.
“Palicte brings an impressive record and a lot of experience,” Cantu noted.  “The road to a world title is a tough one, which means no easy opponents.  I am really excited about this challenge.  This is a classic fight because of our styles and I am sure we won’t let the viewing public down.  I am ready to become the next great American champion in this weight class.”
“Cantu is a smart boxer,” Palicte added.  “I’d compare him to Ismael Garnica, who I fought in our Showdown at Sands in Macau. (Palicte won by way of a seventh-round TKO.)  He (Cantu) is kind of a runner, too, always moving around the ring, but we can never tell one’s ability until we’ve fought.
“This is going to be an exciting fight.  I’m really looking forward to getting a hold of those belts.  Cantu is also a good boxer but with my experience and power, I think I have much more advantages than him.  I know he’s also doing his best training, so, it’s going to be a really good fight come December 17th.”

LAS VEGAS (December 1, 2016) – A super flyweight twin-title fight between undefeated Oscar Cantu and “Mighty” Aston Palicte headlines the final 2016 installment of the popular “Knockout Night at the D” series on Saturday night, December 17, airing live (7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET) on CBS Sports Network from inside the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center indoor facility, located in the heart of the downtown Las Vegas casino district, one block away from the world famous Fremont Street (200 S. 3rd St.).

Cantu will defend his North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super flyweight title against Palicite.  The vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super flyweight championship will also be contested in the 10-round main event.
“The Cantu-Palicte fight is a classic match-up between a boxer and puncher,” Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions co-founder/CEO Keith Veltre said.  “It’s for two title belts and the winner will be positioned for a possible world title shot in 2017.  Our final event of the year promises to be our best yet with evenly matched, entertaining fights that our ‘Knockout Night at the D’ series is known for with tomorrow’s stars up-and-down the card.”

The 25-year-old Cantu (14-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Kingsville, Texas, is a pure boxer who is the reigning North American Boxing Federation (NABF) champion, ranked No. 3 by the WBO North American Boxing Organization (NABO) and No. 6 by the NABA.  He is a belt collector having been the former NABF Junior super flyweight, World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Intercontinental bantamweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) United States super flyweight title holder.
In his last fight, this past May at home in Kingsville, Cantu captured the vacant NABF flyweight title with a 10-round split decision victory over Samuel Gutierrez. Cantu’s most notable win to date is a 10-round split decision against previously undefeated Juan Antonio Lopez (10-0) in 2014 for the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental bantamweight crown.
Palicte, who will be making his US debut Dec. 17 having resettled in Los Angeles, where he’s training at the famed Wild Card Gym, to enhance his boxing career.  Palicte has fought only once outside of his native Philippines as a professional.  He has an experience advantage over Cantu in terms of fighting higher quality opponents.  World rated at No. 11 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and No. 15 by the WBO, Palicte captured the vacant IBF Pan Pacific super flyweight championship this past June in his most recent fight, stopping Vergilio Silvano (21-6-1) in the seventh round of their rematch, which was also won by Palicte via a 12-round unanimous decision a year ago for the vacant WBO Oriental super flyweight title.
The heavy-handed Palicte, who has knocked out 18 of his 21 victims, is rated No. 5 by the NABF and No. 15 by the NABA. Palicte, 25, also owns his share of title belts, including the IBF Youth super flyweight strap.  In Palicte’s only pro fight outside of his native Philippines, he lost a highly disputed 10-round split decision (97-94, 93-97, 94-97) last March to local favorite Junior Granados (14-4-1) in Mexico.

LAS VEGAS (November 19, 2016) – The incredible journey of Demond “Body Shot” Brock continued last night (Friday) in the “Knockout Night at the D” main event on CBS Sports Network that aired live from inside the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center tent.
FloBoxing.tv live streamed this evening’s undercard worldwide, as well as the three main card bouts, excluding North America.
The “Knockout Night at the D” series, presented by the D Las Vegasand Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.
 
Brock lands a right on Blanco
From the Louisiana Penitentiary, where Brock (13-3, 4 KOs) learned how to box while serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery, to his salvation in the boxing ring.  The 35-year-old boxer from New Orleans captured his second title, taking a 10-round split decision (96-94, 96-94, 93-97) from defending North American Boxing Association (NABA) USA lightweight champion Reynaldo “El Trampolin” Blanco (13-3, 7 KOs)
Brock predicted that fans would see a completely different fighter, after being trained for this fight by future Hall of Famer and 10-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr.  Brock threw effective punches in bunches, aggressively fought inside against the taller Blanco, and he outworked the Dominican who suffered a cut over his left eye midway through the fight and had his right eye swell a few rounds later.

“I knew he was a gritty guy who came from Puerto Rico to fight me in Las Vegas,” explained Brock, who added the NABA USA title to his growing collection that already had included the WBC US lightweight strap.  “I was having fun, enjoying myself.  I had to pick up stuff working with Roy and some rubbed off on me. With Roy’s help, my confidence was built up and I learned techniques, especially with my hand-and-feet coordination.  I found what I learned was more effective.”
Jones was calm in Brock’s corner throughout the fight.  “I’m always calm in the corner to get the best out of the fighter,” Jones noted. “To do that I need to remain calm.”
Mexican upset specialist Norberto “Demonio” Gonzalez (22-3-8, 13 KOs) did his thing in the co-feature, taking an eight-round split decision (76-75, 76-75, 74-77) from Puerto Rican junior middleweight Daniel “El Duro” Rosario (11-2, 10 KOs).

Gonzalez overcame a second-round knockdown.  “I didn’t come here to lose,” Gonzalez commented.  “I knew we had to work hard to get a decision.”
In the television opener, red-hot junior featherweight prospect Randy “El Matador” Moreno (7-0, 6 KOs) remained unbeaten, outclassing Daniel Perales (7-6-1, 4 KOs) from the opening bell until referee Russell Mora stopped the fight at the request of the corner in the fourth round.    Using his height and reach advantage once again, the 20-year-old Moreno, fighting out of Las Vegas, continued to show steady overall improvement in his first scheduled six-round bout.

“I can’t wait until I get my first title shot,” Moreno said. “Fighting at home means the world to me.”

Undefeated New York junior flyweight Natalie “Tuffie” Gonzalez (3-0, 1 KO) unloaded a big right-hand to register her first professional knockout as previously unbeaten Marina “Rockie” Ramirez (2-1) beat the count but referee Kenny Bayles halted the fight.
In a spirited junior featherweight fight from start to finish, Juan “Ciclon Junior” Sanchez (2-0, 1 KO) won a hard fought four-round unanimous decision over a game Javier “Lights Out” Cepeda (0-3).
Puerto Rican cruiserweight Kenny “El Indio” Cruz (1-2-1, 1 KO) ruined the pro debut former UNLV football player Jason “The Blaze” Beauchamp, unleashing a barrage of unanswered punches for a knockout win only 1:11 into the opening round.

With Jones working his corner, Swedish middleweight Shady Gamhour (1-0, 1 KO) turned in an impress pro debut, stopping David De La Cruz (0-1) in the third round.

Brock (12-3-1, 4 KOs), fighting out of New Orleans, learned how to box in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he was sentenced at the age of 15 for armed robbery. He served a 14 ½-year sentenced and he ended up with a 39-1 record with 17 knockouts.  Upon his release, Brock won the Ringside Tournament and he was the No. 1 ranked welterweight in the United States. Brock reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Olympic Boxing Trials and finished his amateur career with an outstanding 54-3 record.  He left prison a completely different person; much calmer and cerebral, which he totally attributes to becoming a boxer.

In his last fight (June 10), Brock defeated previously unbeaten Chuy Gutierrez (14-0-1), headlining a “Knockout Night at the D” show at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, retaining his World Boxing Council (WBC) United States lightweight title in his first title defense.  Brock, 35, originally captured his title belt in 2015, by way of an 8-round unanimous decision over

Oscar Valenzuela (9-1-1).
Living legend and 10-time world champion Roy Jones, Jr. has been training Brock in Pensacola, Florida, for his Nov. 18th fight with Blanco.  “I love Demond’s energy and his will to learn,” Jones noted. “He has been very enthusiastic, doing everything asked of him and more, each day in the gym.  Everybody will see what a talent Demond is November 18th.   He has a lot of upside in this sport and the heart of a champion.”

CANCUN, Mexico (October 10, 2016) – The replay of the August 24th “Cancun Boxing” card, presented by Pepe Gomez Boxing in association with Neon Star Media, will air this Wednesday night (Oct. 12, starting at 10 p.m. PT / 1 a.m. ET, on CBS Sports Network. Encore presentations will be Friday, Oct. 21 (7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET) and Friday, Oct. 28 (1 a.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET).

The event is the third installment of the “Cancun Boxing” series that will air on CBS Sports Network in 2016. Grand Oasis Cancun the Hotel Complex, Cancun`s ONLY Ultimate All-Inclusive Entertainment Resort, will play host to all events in this ongoing series.

Hall-of-Fame announcer Al Bernstein and Sean Wheelock called the action live from ringside in Cancun, Mexico.

Future Hall of Fame candidate Jhonny Gonzalez (61-10, 51 KOs) defended his World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver super featherweight title for the fourth time, against Japanese invader Hiroysugi Yamamoto (19-12-2, 3 KOs), in the scheduled 10-round main event.

Gonzalez is Mexican knockout machine (51 career KOs) who, as the saying goes, has never been in a bad fight. The 3-time, 2-division world champion Gonzalez, rated No. 4 by the WBC going into this fight, has been on a mission for one more world title shot.

The 35-year-old Gonzalez has defeated 11 world champions during his illustrious 17-year professional boxing career, including a Who’s Who of the bantamweight, featherweight and super featherweight divisions: Mark Johnson (KO8), Abner Mares (KO1), Jorge Arce (TKO11), Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (KO7), Fernando Montiel (DEC12), Irene Pacheco (TKO9), Elio Rojas (DEC12), Maurice Pastrana (TKO4), Hozumi Hasegawa (TKO4), Francisco Tejedor (TKO1) and Adams Rivas (DEC12).

Yamamoto, who was fighting in North America for the first time, is a former WBC Asian Boxing Council and Asia Pacific title challenger.

In the 10-round co-feature, Mexico City archrivals Diego “Demoledor” Cruz (16-3-1, 13 KOs) and Ivan “Macanon” Cano (23-7-2, 15 KOs) battled for local welterweight bragging rights, while Mexico City flyweight Lourdes “Le Pequena Lulu” Juarez (17-2 2 KOs) took on Cancun’s favorite daughter, Yesenia Gomez (13-4, 8 KOs), in an 8-round bout that opened the televised segment of the “Cancun Boxing” event.

Stephon Young wins WBA NABA title with decision over Tony Lopez Jr.

Nutley, NJ (October 3, 2016)–This past Friday night, newly signed GH3 Promotions fighter Stephon Young turned in a terrific performance as he won the WBA NABA Bantamweight title with a ten-round majority decision over Tony Lopez Jr.
The bout, which was held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, was televised live on CBS Sports Network.

Young controlled the final three-quarters of the bout as he used his speed and aggressiveness to win by scores 97-93, 96-94 and 95-95.

Young, 28 years old of St. Louis, raised his undefeated mark to 15-0-3 with six-knockouts.
“It was a great fight.  I have to give credit to Tony Lopez .  It was an exciting fight, but I think he must have thought something different of me as I don’t think that they knew what they were getting themselves into,” said Young.
“I was in tremendous shape.  the fight was close in the first four rounds, and then I took over the bout.”
When asked what is next, Young knows that he will be ranked by the WBA and is looking for a world title opportunity.
“I am going to go back to the drawing board see what my manager (Henry Rivalta) and my promoter (GH3 Promotions), and keep busy.  I am going to the top.  This is only just the beginning, and it will get any better.”
“I am not going to say he is next, but I want to fight (WBA Bantamweight champion) Rau’she Warren.  He beat me in the 2012 Olympic trials and we have some unfinished business.”
“Stephon boxed a beautiful fight on Friday,” said GH3 Promotions Vito Milenicki.  “He was very impressive, and now he as the NABA title.  Now between me and Henry Rivalta, we will move him the right way and get him the title shot he deserves.”

LAS VEGAS (September 30, 2016) — Late replacement Erik “El Trumpo” Ruiz upset Hanzel Martinez  in tonight’s “Knockout Night at the D” main event in front of another sold-out crowd at the outdoor Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.

The “Knockout Night at the D” series, presented by the D Las Vegas and Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, is promoted by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions.  Hall Of Fame announcers Jim “J.R.” Ross and Al Bernstein called the action from ringside with Sean Wheelock on CBS Sports Network in North America and internationally via ESPN.

Ruiz (16-5-1, 6 KOs) replaced Emmanuel Quartey, who was unable to secure a visa, and he was rewarded with a 10-round majority decision victory over fellow Mexican fighter Hanzel Martinez (23-3, 19 KOs) for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) International super bantamweight title.

“El Trumpo,” fighting out of Oxnard, California, put on a clinic, avoiding the lunging Martinez, who was frustrated throughout the fight by Ruiz’ slickness.  Martiniz lunged, Ruiz countered and then he slightly moved to the side, avoiding any potential.  Defensively, Ruiz was far superior, keeping Martinez off balance through out the majority of rounds.

“I feel great,” Ruiz exclaimed.  “I took this last minute fight but I was ready for it.  Hanzel is a tough fighter.  He has guts.  I didn’t think he’d to the full 10 rounds.  This is an opportunity that will open a lot of doors for me.  He knew he was coming to fight and I as ready for him.” 

In a good technical fight with a lot of give-and-take action from start to finish, unbeatenStephon “Showstopper” Young (15-0-3, 6 KOs) defeated Tony Lopez, Jr. (11-2, 4 KOs) in a battle of gritty southpaws. Fighting out of St. Louis, Young’s quickness prevailed over Lopes’ toughness, as both fighters put on a show for the vacant North American Boxing Association (NABA) bantamweight title in the co-feature.  Young won a 10-round majority decision.

“It was a hard fight,” Young commented. “My coach said, if you wan it, go get him.  And I did.  I knew what I was coming to get.  People want to see me fight in this division.” 

In the television opener, NABA USA super welterweight champion John “The Phenom” Vera (15-0, 10 KOs) made another strong statement under the neon lights, stopping challenger Milorad “Micko” Zizic (12-2, 7 KOs) in the second round.  Making his second title defense, Vera, a southpaw, served notice to all super welterweights, dropping Zizic twice and then staggering him again before referee Kenny Baylesscalled an end to the fight.

“I came out here to put on a show,” Vera said after the fight.  “I dropped him (first) with a left-right.  The second knockdown I feinted and hit him with a hard right jab.  I then turned right-handed because I knew my right was working.  I knew I had him.”

Las Vegas junior lightweight Randy Moreno cruised to his fifth win without a loss, unloading an unanswered barrage of punches on Fabian “El Suavecito” Alanez (1-1) until referee Jay Nady halted the fight in the second round.

Popular Las Vegas welterweight Jeremy “J-Flash” Nichols improved to 7-0 with a totally  in control 4-round decision over Marquis “The Hawk” Hawthorn (4-5, 1 KO).

Las Vegas’ 18-year-old bantamweight Max “The Baby Faced Assassin” Ornelas (5-0, 2 KOs) remained unbeaten, winning a a 4-round unanimous technical decision overMulapi Enjani (2-3-2, 1 KO).   Ornelas hurt Enjani near the end of the fourth round.  Enajani hurt his knee and he was unable to continue, resulting in a technical decision

Las Vegas junior lightweight Sal Lopez (4-0, 0 KOs) pitched a shutout, winning all four rounds on the judges’ scorecards, over previously undefeated Kenneth “Scrappy” Taylor (2-1, 2 KOs).
