Central New England (Greater Lowell) 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Semifinals round results from Lowell

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, in het historische Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), was een 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, van Nashua, NH.
Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: lichtgewicht Jonathan Depina, weltergewicht Lipi Fernandes en middengewicht Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, lichtgewicht Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

Boxing’s Return after Almost 20 Years Overwhelming Success
Los Angeles – Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) brought championship boxing back to FOX in prime timeZaterdag night after an almost 20-year absence and delivered a resounding ratings knockout. The PBC on FOX, headlined by an intense 12-round battle for the vacant welterweight title between victor Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero, delivered PBC’s best audience since April 2015.
Fueled by three exciting bouts, the PBC on FOX averaged a 1.5/3 household rating/share with 2.5 million viewers from 8:00 – 10:37 PM ET, volgens Nielsen, +36% in rating and +39% in audience compared to PBC’s last primetime telecast (1.1/2, 1.8 million viewers on NBC, 12/12/15).
Ratings and viewership built throughout the evening’s broadcast. FOX’s first bout featuring a hard-hitting heavyweight bout between Dominic Breazeale and Amir Mansour delivered a 1.3/2 met 2.2 miljoen kijkers, while ratings increased slightly for Sammy Vasquez’s TKO win over Aron Martinez with a 1.4/2, met 2.2 miljoen kijkers. Ratings then jumped for Danny Garcia’s spirited win vs. Robert Guerrero by unanimous decision that averaged a 1.8/3 met 3.0 miljoen kijkers.
Additional Highlights
· The PBC on FOX ranks as the most-watched PBC event on any network since

Dyah Davis returns to the ring this Sunday as he takes on Edgar Perez at the Seminole Casino Immokalee

Dyah Davis, “My Father’s spirit lives in me”
IMMOKALEE, FL. (Januari 28, 2016) – It has been about a month since Howard Davis Jr. passed away.
The former Olympic star and professional was one of the most well liked people in the boxing community. During the process of Davis falling ill, his son Dyah was by his side and he now vows to carry on the boxing legacy set forth by his father.
Davis of Coconut Creek, Florida will be back in the ring for the first time in a 17 maanden, will take on Edgar Perez op zondag at the Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee.
Davis has been trying to get back in the ring sooner, but could not find anyone to step up and fight him.
“I was trying to get fights and I always am decent shape,”zei de 34 jarige Davis.
“I guess that I am too much trouble for contenders and too dangerous for prospects. I guess that means I am high risk and no reward.”
When his father passed away on December 30, 2015, Davis began to get even more motivated about his career.
“I found my motivation with the passing of my father. His legacy will continue on through me. His spirit is in me. My father was my best friend. He always knew that I have the ability and now it is time to show the world that.”
With a possible fight on the horizon and his father living out his last days, Davis made the most of his time with Howard.
“My main objective in his last few weeks was to spend as much time as possible. We didn’t talk too much boxing. We watched some of his old tapes as we just saw the impact he made on so many people. It made me feel great to see the people who reached out following his passing. Lots of people reached out in so many ways.”
Dyah feels he has a new start in boxing as he has inked a deal with Marshall Kauffman’s King’s Promotions.
“I am fortunate that Marshall is giving me a shot. He has put on a lot of shows in the past couple years and I am looking for bigger fights. As seen by my record, I will fight anybody. It just seems everybody wants an easy route these days. My route is that I want to fight only big fights. I feel like I can get there by fighting the best. This is just a fight to get back in the mix of things. I really don’t know anything about him. I will get in there and take care of him.”
“The fans should look forward to see a new and improved Dyah Davis. My father’s spirit lives within and i will carry on his legacy.”

Biloxi, MEVROUW (Januari 27, 2016) – Rite Hook Promotions returns to the Hard Rock Casino for an exciting night of action Zaterdag, Februari 13 in Biloxi, MEVROUW.
Dubbed as “Valentines Massacre” tickets for this ten bout card start at $20 and are on sale at Ticketmaster and the Hard Rock Casino box office. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as Rite Hook’s Mei 2 show was standing room only.
Topping the card is a six round cruiserweight showdown between Biloxi’s very own Mike “Concrete” Bissett and Houston, TX’s “Rocking” Rodney Moore. A big draw locally, de 31 year old Bissett faced notables Steve Bujaj, Milos Plantelic and 2012 US Olympian Michael Hunter. In Augustus 2014, Bissett scored a career best victory over contender Nick Ianuzzi. Known for having an iron chin, Moore’s been stopped just once in 29 fights while battling countless contenders including Randy Griffin, Richard Hall, George Khalid Jones, Quantis Graves, Andrey Fedosov and Murat Gassiev.
The co-featured bout of the evening marks the return of unbeaten middleweight Bobby “The Prodigy” Bryant of Mississippi in an eight round matchup with hardcore veteran Louis Leija. Fighting for the first time since 2012, Bryant’s 15-0 met 9 wint door knock-out. A boxer since he was 9, Bryant was a standout amateur and has big expectations as a pro. Hailing from San Antonio, TX, Leija’s pro career started eight months before Bryant was born. Leija, 21-15-1 (15 KO's), faced boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, former champions Jesus Chavez and Derrick Gainer as well as Ben Tackie, Emanuel Augustus and 2004 Olympisch zilveren medaille Yudel Jhonson.
Rite Hook’s very own Manny “Shake Em’ Up” Woods, 13-4-1 (5 KO's), travels from Tampa, FL to challenge 41 fight veteran Aaron Anderson of Tennessee in a six round junior middleweight contest. A winner in three of his last four, Woods hope to move onto bigger fights with a victory.
In separate undercard matches, unbeaten Joey Bryant of Memphis, TN, Justin Pauldo of Orlando, FL, Birmingham, AL’s Keandre Leatherwood and Atlanta, GA’s Justin Brunetti will all face opponents to be named.

ANAHEIM, CALIF. (Jan. 27, 2016) – Mexican warriors Juli Ceja en Hugo Ruiz will compete in a rematch of their exciting 2015 super bantamweight world title fight on Zaterdag, Februari 27, live op SHOW TIME® from Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
The SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast will be headlined by undefeated three-division world champion Leeuw “Aardbeving” Santa Cruz, who’ll bemaking the first defense of his Featherweight World Championship against former world champion Kiko Martinez.
“I’m very happy to fight again in Southern California on such a fantastic card,” said Ceja. “In the first fight with Hugo Ruiz we had a sensational battle which ended with me coming out victorious and I’m very confident that I will win again. I look forward to putting on another great show on Februari 27.”

Wenkbrauw (30-1, 27 KO) en Ruiz (35-3, 31 KO) met on August 29, 2015, in Los Angeles, with Ceja winning the WBC 122-pound world title via a fifth-round stoppage in a wild back-and-forth brawl. Ruiz struck the first big blow in round three when he connected with a sharp left hand that floored Ceja. The fireworks continued into round five when Ceja unloaded a powerful left hook that put Ruiz on the mat. Ceja saw his opening and used a flurry of punches to close the show and take home the world title.

Cosio to Face Barrionuevo in WBC Welterweight Tournament Quarter Final on Saturday, Januari 30, in Mexico

The WBC Welterweight Tournament will continue on Saturday, Januari 30, when Azael “Turbo” Cosio (20-3-2, 17 KO) of Santa Marta, Panama, faces Cesar Miguel “El Zurdo” Barrionuevo (28-3-2, 19 KO) of Catamarca, Argentinië.
The winner of this fight will face Pennsylvania’s Sammy “The Who Can Mexican” Vasquez in the semi-final in late Spring.
Promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing and Reginaldo and Oswaldo Kuchle of Promociones del Pueblo, the 12-round Cosio vs. Barrionuevo showdown will be held at Hotel Ixtapa Azul, in Guerrero, Mexico, and will be televised live on Mexico’s Televisa and TyC Sports of Argentina.
According to Lewkowicz, in the other leg of the tournament, new WBC Welterweight Champion Danny Garcia has been mandated to face Amir Khan. The winner of that fight will then face the winner of the Cosio/Barrionuevo vs. Vasquez semi-final fight.
“This tournament is a great move by the WBC,” Said Sampson Lewkowicz. “I’m very happy for the great opportunity that the WBC has given all the participants to compete for the prestigious green belt.”
Lewkowicz says he loves the tournament format to unclog the top levels of the welterweight division and is looking forward to their next move, a super welterweight tournament beginning in late Spring.
“What the WBC is doing is good for boxing and gives some talented fighters their chance to fight for a championship they might otherwise be forced to wait years for or be shut out of totally. I commend them for this move.”

Additional undercard action features a pair of unbeaten welterweights as David Grayton(13-0, 9 KO) gezichten Daniel Souza Santos (14-9, 11 KO) in an eight round bout while Harold Calderon neemt Gilbert Venegas in a scheduled eight-round affair.

Uitvechten van Brooklyn, Galarza is looking for his third straight victory in the state of Florida when he enters the ring on Januari 31. The 23-year-old has fought professionally since 2013 and racked up five wins in 2015. Most recently he stopped Juan Ramon Solis in their November 2015 gevecht. He will take on the 20-year-old Molnar out of Bekescsaba, Hungary who will be making his U.S. debuut.
A Washington D.C. product, Grayton was a National Golden Gloves Champion who beat Errol Spence Jr. as an amateur on his way to picking up that title. The 28-year-old entered the professional ranks in 2012 and is unbeaten since. He defeated Martin Wright in October 2015 and will now take on the Brazilian Souza Santos.
The 28-year-old Calderon picked up three victories in 2015 including his most recent triumph, a first round stoppage of Clifford McPherson in November. The Miami-native will square off against East Molina, Illinois’ Venegas.

After Sensational Victory over Donovan Dennis, The Sky is Now the Limit for Heavyweight Slugger Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Molenaar

Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions says he could not be happier with the performance turned in last Friday night by the fighter he co-promotes (with Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions), undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Molenaar.
Molenaar, nu 16-0-1, 14 KO, showed both his frightening power and excellent boxing skills while scoring a brutal TKO 7 over an extremely game Donovan Dennis. Fighting in the co-main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, Miller made believers out of many by displaying depth and ring intelligence to go with his sledgehammer fists.
“Jarrell showed he’s not just a big puncher,” aldus Greg Cohen. “He showed the ability to change up his game plan during a fight. That’s very important at the higher levels of the division. He nearly took Dennis’ head off in the first round, but when he saw that somehow he was going to survive for a while, he switched up to boxing and re-established his dominance that way. It was exactly what he should have done in there.”
Molenaar, who won the NABA Heavyweight Championship with the victory, is now in line for an even higher-profile showdown with a rated contender.
“Jarrell is a force to be reckoned with and with his power, skill, athleticism and charisma, he can become a worldwide star and be the man to restore the heavyweight division to its glory of yesteryear,” voortgezet Cohen. “People love him and can’t enough of him!”
Cohen says that even though Miller called out the champions of the division after the victory, the probable next step will be a top-ten fighter in one of the sanctioning organizations.
“We believe he can beat any of the champions right now, vandaag. But to get him there we will have to next focus on someone rated above him and take their spot by force. But I have every confidence we are less than a year away from getting Jarrell the world title shot he wants more than anything.”
