“I’m told that I’ve had 38 world champions and I have a story for each one of them,” Hoffman said. “Almost from the beginning, ichida 1980, I had success in boxing. Joe Manley is special because he was the first fighter I signed and also my first world champion. Team USA didn’t send a team to the 1980 Olimpiada (because of a boycott) and Joe was lost. Posthumous non-participant inductees are Brooklyn boxing historian Hank Kaplan, Long Island cut-man Al Gavin, Bronx referee Arthur Donovan and New York City columnist va Parker.
