NEW YORK (Travanj 21, 2018) – Carl Frampton earned the interim WBO Featherweight Title with a clear unanimous decision victory over former four-division world champion Nonito Donaire from SSE Arena in Belfast in a bout that was streamed live to U.S. audiences via SHOWTIME Sports YouTube Channel and SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook Page. All three judges scored the fight 117-111 in favor of Frampton.

Frampton (25-1, 14 Kos), of Belfast, was the sharper fighter from the opening bell and imposed his will on the veteran Donaire (38-5, 24 Kos) in front of his hometown fans. Frampton controlled the distance well and was strong on the inside, landing a fierce right hand that caused swelling to Donaire’s left eye in the second round. Donaire showed glimpses of why he was named the consensus 2012 Fighter godine, landing a vicious uppercut in the seventh and a big left hand in the latter stages of round number 11 that hurt Frampton. I’ve had a completely different approach to training. I don’t remember having a bad day in training or sparring. “I had a lot of respect for Donaire back when he was a champion and I still do. He’s a quality fighter. In terms of accolades, he’s accomplished more than any other fighter that I’ve ever fought. He’s a future Hall of Famer. Hopefully I can put myself in that bracket one day. He is the best fighter that I will have ever fought. That includes Leo Santa Cruz and [Scott] Quigg and everyone else. Magwaca (17-0-2, 10 Kos) from Duncan Village, East London, Južna Afrika, is the current WBA International Bantamweight Champion and the former WBF Africa Junior Flyweight Champion and IBO Inter-Continental Flyweight Champion.
A seven-year professional, Magwaca trains at the “All Winners Boxing Club” in Mdanstane, East London, Južna Afrika, with the guidance of Zolani “Last Born” Tete, a world rated bantamweight and former IBF World Super Flyweight Champion, as well as GCP stablemate and current IBO World Featherweight Champion Lusanda “Meksikanac” Komanisi.

Privremeni WBA svjetski prvak u bantam kategoriji Zhanat “ZZ” Zhakiyanov (26-1, 18 Kos) i njegovi predstavnici sada su prisiljeni odgovoriti na namjerne neistine koje distribuira tim oko južnoafričkog super muhaha Zolanija Tetea.
