Zhang ZHILEI – “HRGOVIĆ IS NO BOOGEYMAN”

Undefeated heavyweight Zhang “Big Bang” Zhilei (23-0-1, 18 Kos) is looking for big fights in 2022. Zhang, who is coming off of a second-round knockout of Craig Lewis, is world-ranked in both the IBF and WBO and wants to fight a top heavyweight so that he can earn a title shot.

The division is opening up after a flurry of recent activity at the end of 2021. With its mandatory contender position vacant, the International Boxing Federation is trying to set up a final eliminator. Contenders Luis Ortiz and Joseph Parker, both of whom are fresh off big wins, ducked their chance to fight #3 ranked Filip Hrgović (14-0, 12 Kos). of Croatia. The IBF will continue to go down its rankings in order until one of the contenders agrees to fight Hrigović.

Zhang vows that if asked, he would take on the Croatian in a battle of 6’6’’ big men.

“I don’t understand why top heavyweights are turnin this down.” Said the former Olympic silver medal winner. “Hrgovic is no boogeyman. I’ve made it known that if my name comes up, I’ll step up and take it.”

And if a showdown with Hrigovic does not materialize, the 38 year-old Zhang is ready for any of the big names.

“I’m not getting any younger, and I have told my promoter that I want to make a big move," Said Zhang, listing off of top heavyweights such as Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora – all of whom share the same promoter, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom.

“My ultimate goal is to become world champion and I need fights that put me on that path. I will fight anyone. I want a big opportunity and all I am asking for is fair compensation. I am ready now.”

OCTOBER 22nd, NYC — Number one IBF light heavyweight contender, Meng Fanlong (16-0, 10 Kos), and top heavyweight, Zhang Zhilei (20-0, 16 Kos), sign exclusive advisor agreements with newly formed ‘Lane Brothers Boxing.’

As the IBF #1 contender in the light heavyweight division, Meng is eyeing a fight early next year against Champion Artur Beterbiev, who just scored a sensational technical knockout win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk Friday night in Philadelphia.

Zhang, of Zhoukou, China, is also happy to have Terry and Tommy Lane be his career representatives.

Their father is a well-known referee and hall-of-famer. The brothers have been in the business of boxing all their lives. Zhang, a 6’6’’ 260 LB 2008 Olympic silver medalist, has amassed an impressive undefeated record and is looking for big fights in the heavyweight division.

Zhang is scheduled to fight the tough Sergey Kuzmin (15-1, 11 Kos) on November 30th at the Casino De Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo, Monaco November 30th. The bout will be streamed on DAZN.

Atlantic City, E-New Jersey (August 5, 2017)–Derrick Webster continued his quest towards a world title shot by taking out Lamar Harris in a scheduled eight-round super middleweight bout that headlined a six-bout card at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.
The show was promoted by Mis Downing Promotions in association with Square Ring Promotions.

Webster dropped Harris at the end of round one as he landed a perfect straight left hand. After that it was a matter of when Webster would end the night., as Harris was hurt, but came out to endure 28 seconds of pounding before the bout was stopped.
Webster, 167.8 lbs of Glassboro, NJ is now 24-1 kanye 13 knockouts. Harris, 167.9 lbs of Saint Louis, Missouri is now 9-14-4.
“We have been working hard, and now I am looking for a title. I want George Groves,” said Webster.
“I knew after I dropped him after the first round, the fight would be over soon thereafter. I know Groves is in the tournament, so why not Badou Jack. I would love to fight him.”
Prince Badi Ajamu shook eight years of ring rust to pound out an eight-round uannimous decision over Edgar Perez in a cruiserweight bout.

Ajamu, 191.4 lbs of Camden, NJ won by ezikhombisa of 80-72 kabili futhi 79-73 futhi manje 28-3-1. Perez, 190 lbs of Chicago is 7-22.

Zhilei dropped Guivas in the first frame with a hard six-punch combination in the corner. Seconds later, Zhilei finsihed off the fight with a crushing four-punch combination on the ropes and the bout was stopped at 2:43.

Zhilei, 254.8 lbs of Zhoukou, China is now 17-0 kanye 13 knockouts. Guivas, 238 lbs of Topeka, KS is 13-8-2.

Mike Hilton went the distance for the first time, but still came out with the six-round unanimous decision over Willis Lockett in a cruiserweight bout.

Hilton, 198.5 lbs of Trenton, NJ won by ezikhombisa of 60-54, 58-56 & 60-53 to raise his unblemished mark to 7-0. Lockett, 194.6 lbs of Takoma Park, MD is 14-21-6.

Shaddy Gamhour stopped Jessie Singletary in first round of their scheduled four round middleweight bout.
Gamhour, who is trained by Roy Jones, Jr. landed a hard right hand that sent Singletary to the canvas and the bout was stopped at 1:43.
Gamhour, 163,5 lbs of Pensacola, FL is now 4-0 nge knockouts ezintathu. Singletary, 167.3 lbs of Washington, DC kuyinto 0-3.
Tahlik Taylor okudingekayo nje 31 seconds to bludgeon Lamont McLaughlin in a scheduled four round super middleweight bout.

Ajamu, who was a perennial contender had a record of 27-3-1 kanye 15 knockouts, but decided that he needed some time away from competitive action.
Fast forward eight years, Ajamu steps back in the ring as he takes on Edgar Perez in the six-round co-feature bout lokhu ngoMgqibelo ebusuku at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

Ajamu, Manje 45 years-old of Camden, New Jersey has kept in great shape while away from the squared circle.
“I have been helping people in the gym the whole time, and I decided that if I am putting time in that, I mind as well get back in there and do this on my own,” said Ajamu.
Ajamu also believes that being in the ring will also help fight for a cause that he has been involved with for sometime.
“What better way to bring attention to child abduction, which is a big problem in this country then to be in the ring and help get the message out there.”
Ajamu said that at age 45 that this is not a one-and-done situation, as he plans to stick around for specific purposes.
“The goal is take this as far as I can. I want to win another title and tie another Camden legend, “Jersey” Joe Walcott,” said the former Pennsylvania, IBC Inter-Continental, WBC Continental Americas, WBC Caribbean, , WBO NABO and World Boxing Foundation Light Heavyweight champion.
Another goal is a rematch with legendary Roy Jones, Jr.
Jones defeated Ajamu in 2006, and its’s more than a coincidence that Jones will be in a attendance as a co-promoter for the event.

Hopefully I can fight someone like Mike Tiberi next for a major regional title, then have my eye towards a world title in 2018.”

Hooker, rated number seven by the WBO, is coming off of a career-best win on October 17, 2015 against his toughest opponent to date in Ghislain Maduma (17-2, 11 Kos) at Madison Square Garden. Hooker successfully defended his NABO title with the 10-round decision win over Maduma on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux in a fight that was featured on the event’s “freeview” in the United States and streamed online around the world. Buelvas, a former WBA Fedebol champion, has won two of his last three bouts by knockout and fought Humberto Soto for the WBC Silver International Super Lightweight title in 2014, going the 12-round distance before losing a decision to the former World Champion.

 

Born and raised in Oak Cliff, Texas, a rough suburb of Dallas, Hooker found a boxing home at Maple Avenue Boxing Gym by way of an outreach program for at-risk youths. Having compiled an exceptional amateur record of 99-8, Puga made his professional debut on September 2, 2011, scoring a fourth round technical knockout victory over Raul Talamontes at the Sports Complex in his hometown. Back in the ring less than two months later, Puga Jr. raised his record to 2-0 with a first round technical knockout of Jose Jesus Hurtado at the Sherwood Inn in Salinas. In June 2012, he sent Thomas Turner to the mat four times in scoring a second round technical knockout win at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Brooklyn’s 20-year-old, Ezingakanqotshwa Junior “The Young God” Younan (7-0, 6 KO sika) esebuyele ring on March 26 after a nine-month layoff to take on Cristian Solorzano (4-7, 3 Kos) of Sonora, Mexico in a four-round super middleweight fight. Younan has battled multiple nagging injuries since scoring a second round technical knockout victory over Mike Sawyer on the Miguel Cotto vs. Daniel Geale undercard on June 6, 2015 at Barclays Center e Brooklyn, I-New York. Manje 100 percent healthy, Younan looks to make Solozano his third straight knockout victim. Solorzano, a naturally bigger fighter, has campaigned in the light heavyweight division and is coming off of a knockout win.

 

Younan, trained by his father Sherif, a former professional boxer himself, began fighting competitively at age eight and only two years later was called a “boxing prodigy” by the New York Times. He compiled an amateur record of 90-5, racking up an impressive series of titles along the way including nine Junior Olympic championships, nine Junior Metro championships, eight New York State Silver Gloves championships and five Regional Silver Gloves championships. In 2011, he was crowned National Junior Golden Gloves champion and was U.S.A. Boxing’s number one rated junior boxer in his weight class. Less than a month after his 18th birthday, Younan made his professional debut on November 9, 2013, at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, I-New York, stopping Kenneth Schmitz in the first round. Younan would go on to knockout his next three opponents before going the distance for the first time against Azamat Umarzoda on July 2, 2014 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. He followed that fight with a first round knockout of Marlon Farr on August 13 the BB King Blues Club and Grill in New York on August 13.

Chinese heavyweight Zhang “Big Bang” Zhilei (7-0, 4 Kos) joins the undercard on March 26 in a four-round bout against an opponent yet to be determined. The Silver Medalist from the 2008 Beijing Olympics continues to infuse excitement into the heavyweight division and is coming off of a first round technicalknockout win over David Koswara on February 20 at the Lanzhou Sports Arena in Lanzhou, China.

 

Born on May 2, 1983 in Henan, Zhang began his amateur career in 2003, participating in the World Championships. A breakthrough came in 2007 at the World Championships where Zhang defeated the trio of Nurpais Torobekov, Rustam Rygebayev and Daniel Beahan en route to the semifinals where he lost to Ukrainian Vyacheslav Glazkov. By capturing a bronze medal and finishing the competition in third place, he qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The Chinese powerhouse nearly reached the zenith of amateur success in the summer of 2008, entering the super heavyweight finals at the Summer Olympics in Beijing against Italy’s Roberto Cammarelle. It was not to be as Zhang suffered his first defeat of that Olympiad, losing to Cammarelle, but proudly adding to the host country’s medal total with a Silver. In 2009, Zhang captured a gold medal at the China National Games, an event of equal prestige to the Olympics in China. 2013 saw yet another gold medal winning performance in the China National Games, setting the stage for “Big Bang” to embark on a professional career while basing himself in the United States. On August 8, 2014, Zhang made his professional debut by scoring a first-round knockout win over Curtis Lee Tate in Fallon, Nevada in a fight that was televised live on ESPN2. On March 14, 2015, Zhang beat Eric George via a four-round unanimous decision at the Armory in Jersey City, E-New Jersey. He followed that with another four-round unanimous decision win, this time over Glenn Thomas on the highly anticipated Cotto-Geale undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 6. Next came a sixth round technical knockout win over Dennis Benson at The Playground in Atlantic City on August 15. To end the year, Zhang was featured on the undercard of the November 21 Cotto vs. Canelo mega-fight at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, where scored a four-round unanimous decision victory over Juan Goode.

 

Hayward Local, California intandokazi Aaron Coley (12-1-1, 6 KO sika) faces a very stern test in a six-round junior middleweight bout against Ryskeldiev balandela (11-3-2, 7 Kos) of West Hollywood, California, a Kyrgyzstan native who is undefeated in his last seven fights.
